That's an even bigger loss in the lineup than dArnaud is and ironically Soler will be joining dArnaud in Disneyland. Now the Braves are looking for a left fielder in an attempt to replace Soler's bat in the lineup. It seems unlikely they will be able to acquire a left fielder who is as good of a hitter as Soler is. Outside of Max Fried I would say Soler is probably their biggest loss of the offseason and definitely their biggest hitter lost this offseason. Great video btw.

The Braves only get those “team friendly deals” by signing those players before the arbitration period. The players are “overpaid” in the short term and underpaid in the long term. It’s a good idea for the players because they don’t know if an injury will derail their careers. Letting Freeman go was a mistake AA will never let down. Freeman was the team leader and AA let his ego get in the way. It wasn’t the money. It was one extra year Freeman wanted. AA doesn’t do “long term deals” for older players. Like come on, Freeman could have easily transitioned to being a DH if his fielding play declined in that final year. AA let a future hall of famer and team leader go for a nonsense reason. Don’t think that didn’t play into Swanson and Fried checking out. They never considered staying with the Braves after that.
