Pretty sad when you're being outspent this offseason by the freaking A's
The As and Angels will make the playoffs before the mariners will.
@@The_Mister weren't the mariners just in the playoffs a couple of seasons ago?
@@ace2585… Yeah they had momentum, and then they went cheap and gave up … We have the best pitching staff top to bottom and we’re doing nothing to get some offensive help …
Thank you THANK YOU for reporting on this and all the other media too because i am so sick and tired of this ownership i been to a game every year since my BIRTH year and am too loyal to this garbage team
Seems maddening. They could be SO good but just choose not to go that extra step

The mariners are where players either slump badly until they go somewhere else or their career ends. Look at Kolten Wong had a .280 batting average and then suddenly nothing and now he no longer plays baseball anymore.

Ad behind the home plate: "Become a better hitter."
The Mariners have resorted to hoping ads make their hitting better
It’s all ads up!
Me and my friends went from talking in June about which playoff games we were going to attend, to screaming at the TV in July. The pain of being a Mariners fan lately is possibly worse than I felt in 2001.
Didn't the mariners break the all time win record in 2001? I thought that was a good time for Seattle. Rookie MVP ichiro and stuff too
@ Yes, and the got knocked out in the ALCS if I recall. A win record and no pennant. A disappointing end to such an exciting season.
@@gravebeast9752 ya man back when the Yankees just outspent everyone. Hey I'm an Indians fan, at least you knocked us out! I even went to one of the ALDS home losses y'all served us.

@@gravebeast9752 ya man. We did get that 14 run come back in the reg season ! I loved that Seattle team tho. Mike Cameron, olerud ichiro, young chone Higgins. good solid crew. For having lost Arod and Griffey that was a badass team for what they did.
Baseball is suffering. I KNOW this team can go the distance but nobody is grabbing the wheel and steering it to a championship. Wasting this rotation will be one of the darkest spots on Mariners history if they don't rally the wallets.
They’ve never won an ALCS / WS championship in the first place over a span of their franchise… can’t have that type of confidence where the M’s goals aren’t even WS aspirations.
@@thelonewolf7443 The secret sauce is every Mariners fan knows this, we just pretend it's not true
@@YakYo too bad the mariners can’t go to the playoffs consistently, at this rate it would be nice to see the mariners spend all of their money even if overpaying win one World Series and then go cheap afterward and have a 20-30 year playoff drought.
What a way to start the new year for Mariners fans 😭
Sooo...the Mariners are essentially the 2018 Mets. Great pitching, no bats.
I would say 23 had slightly better pitching overall because the bullpen was a good margin better than it was in 24 and the starting pitching was a margin better this year too. We had a lot of blown leads this year more so than I can recall in 23 or 22, heck even 21.

Now imagine that every year. That's the Mariners
“That’s baseball baby”
It’s so hard being a lifetime fan. Don’t even live in the area anymore but still stick with for some reason. Do I just like pain and suffering?
More pain than what both sides of Chicago went through?
Might as well. The odds that whatever team you pick is going to win a title are very low. The fact only one team can win
@@aunch3you’re right, that’s sports. Sucks not having a team that goes all in but I can’t do anything about it
It depends. Do you also have a girlfriend that treats you bad and breaks up with you and you take her back everytime? If so, then yes you like suffering.
Thanks for bringing this up. As a fan of your channel, I knew it was coming. A few things not mentioned. Ownership is unwilling to allow the FO to add a little more to the get team better, especially hitting as they’re on a budget & only have $16 million so far to spend this offseason. They need to unload Mitch Haniger who cost them about $16 million, as why the M’s declined the Red Sox trade that included Yoshida. Also it has been said that MLB hitters don’t sign to Seattle cause of TMobile is a terrible park to hit at. Plus GM DiPoto isn’t well liked across the league (players, coaches, and agents).
The best rotation in baseball.
The best farm in baseball.
They have Julio, Cal Raleigh, and Arozarena
And refuse to spend just the little more it would take to make them serious contenders. Absolute slap in the face to the game of baseball and its fans.
@@wildboar1911A1 honestly you should be excited about that farm system though
julio is a bust and arozarena is washed. cal is legit.
Yea, I don't know what to think about Julio....Seattle is where bats go to die for some reason.
@@cococock2418 People called Teo washed when he was with them

Mariners and Jays are basically brothers in arms in how to just stall around during the offseason. Yeah I know 2022 where they embarrassed Toronto but they’ve never seen a finals.
Blue Jays have already wasted their entire window of contention
If you mix blue jays lineup and the M’s staff they can actually win
The blue jays have two World Series titles while the mariners have never been to a world series
@@atomicgiraffe250 mariners will too if they don’t get bats to aid their pitching.
@@atomicgiraffe250wasted it on Vlad. Not really.. but he never helped a single bit towards winning - but has towards losing in big situations.
After that 2021 where he crushed minor league parks, his production declined 30% each for the next 2 seasons where they made the playoffs.
He was only 3/22 in those playoff games and his last at bat was a double where he was picked off second.
Not to say they would have Won it all, but they certainly should have won a few. Not to mention Bo running over Springer...
The potential of a better post season run was dropped by the players, not the front office.
We've been crying about our offense, but not being honest with ourselves about how Vlad has been half the player everyone expected.
Our WAR totals in both 2022 & 2023 were the same as LA and NY this year., so the idea that they didn't build a good enough team was false when you consider that Vlad wasn't ever the best player on a playoff team.
Been an M’s fan since the 80s… life is pain… but I can’t help myself, summer days in the stands with my friends and beer are pretty great.
Being loyal is a good thing, all the misery makes the winning that much more fulfilling. Hoping things get turned around for y'all🙏
They’ve only had Ken Griffey’s Winning Run
@ tell me you don’t know anything about the Mariners… without telling me you don’t know anything about the Mariners….
2001
Seattle will win a Stanley Cup AND another NBA Championship before the Mariners ever get into the WS. Heck, they'll probably win a Milky Way Galaxy Cyberball 40k Pennant before that
... and people think the Dodgers are ruining Baseball...the Dodgers do what they can to imporve their on-field product. Can you imagine Andrew Friedman saying his goal is to have the team win 54% of their games?
The funniest part is the fact that Friedman was literally probed away from the Rays, another team whose ownership is cheap. The Dodgers are the best example of being able to pair analytics and a good farm system with a blank check/unlimited resources to make a World Series contender every year
Dodgers have a window to win right now. They're heavily invested to get it done now and screw the future. A lot of other teams have done this in the past to get that WS ring (D-Backs, Marlins, Blue Jays etc). Those franchises then went through down years.
@@elasmojones psst. They have a top tier farm system too. And their$$ isn't gonna run out once the current core retires.
@@DaChamorro From 2028 to 2046 they will owe more than a billion. It will have some effect. It may not be disastrous, but they are definitely all-in right now.
@@elasmojones except the thing is that deferments aren’t allowed unless the team has that money already and they have to put it into an escrow account that MLB has to monitor. However the Dodgers can invest that money safely so not only will those millions/billions be worth less when the payouts are due because of inflation but the team stands to profit from the investments. Furthermore the luxury tax penalties are charged against the present day annual value of the contracts so by the time the deferments start being owed, that money won’t be charged against the future payroll
You don't necessarily need 5 ace-like starters to compete. Trade 1 or 2 of them for some bats already...
They need to keep all of them to reduce the amount of runs they give up and start spending money on some good hitters so that they can get more wins. Keep the pitching at the current level it is and start improving the hitting.
@fredyuen2489 That's the problem, they don't want to spend any on free agents - even trades. It is so frustrating. They have three great young bats in Julio, Raleigh and Arozarena, they might just need one or two more to become a force in a now lackluster AL West. They just don't do anything.
@ I completely agree with that just two more good bats, also I think we need to take some of the pressure off of Julio as well because I think it makes him make stupid decisions like how he got picked off at 3rd against the Yankees. That should not have happened. Also I’d like Julio to act more like a contract hitter that gets on base a lot hits for average and walks a lot as well. And then we can have Raleigh drive him in.
@@fredyuen2489name 10 free agent hitters that were worth their contract that they got with their new team
That is the way to go. The problem is they won’t get value for them because they know how desperate they are to improve the offense
Management really doesn't want to give out big contracts either. Julio can't be our only form of offense, we need at least 2 other big bats that can be consistently good.
@@MrBerg4ever look at the Yankees it’s just Judge and pitching, the Mariners are a better team than the Yankees
Seattle likes to have one star player carry the entire team look at how they treated Ichiro and Felix Hernandez they wasted their talent and it’s sad that Felix never made it to October.
julio is a ghost
i just wanna know if its possible to sue ownership for false advertisement or something like that and force the sale of the team to someone who actually cares cause im a very new mariners fan and i dont wanna give up on them already after i gave up on the white sox
Mariners have pitching, need hitting. Orioles have hitters, need pitching. Money is not an issue here. Get it done.
This is just not true. The team made a money saving trade when the unloaded Sewald two years ago, and then proceeded to cut another 15mm from the budget for last year. Now we have no first, second, or third basemen and will most likely be feilding minor leaguers at those positions. 3 straight years of budget custs makes not a good ownership group. Scott Servais is hot garbage and should have been let go with the skipper last year. If the soul purpose of owning the team is making money buy stocks in something.
See, people always think that the weather in Seattle causes everyone to get depression. In reality, it's the sports, and the Mariners are leading that charge with gusto! Ain't no amount of vitamin D can cure it either.
It’s that Nintendo deal, I tell you 😂
The Weather thing is over blown, just weak people
@Tony-so1zl This is the truth. Best weather out of any state in my opinion. Just mild year round.
Nelson Cruz never had a problem!
The Mariners owners getting a dressing down from Judge Judy for being cheap would be glorious 😂
our biggest offseason change was dave sims to the offseason
As Mariners fans, we are just so damn disappointed about this offseason. Can’t waste this pitching staff!
god I forgot the Mariners had a 10 game lead at one point. The AL in general was... kinda... interesting last year.
Mariners do this every year. Until a backlash with fans bringing below average attendance like the Kingdome days they'll keep doing it.
The mariners really need to fire Jerry dipoto
Absolutely how long are you going to give a man that fails over and over again. Dipoto lacks actions
@ exactly
@@TTheBananaMan he makes them money though going to be tough to get rid of a man who makes the org profit
Seattle has a great pitching core, but no run support? Tale as old as time, my friend. Felix Hernandez wouldve been a multiple time mvp on a team that could average just 3 runs a game
As a Dodger fan would be dope to see a mariners WS before a madres or Rockies lol
Thanks for commenting on this, we've been dealing with this pathetic excuse for ownership for decades. Hopefully we can shame them into doing SOMETHING
As a mariners fan not gonna pay attention next year. Over the same old with them. Good but not good enough and never maken a push. When ya never won anything as a franchise. You don't know how to make a late season push.
I love the video man thanks for the content keep it up. Have a good one
No idea why the Mariners would shut down that Castillo trade. If anything Yoshida and Casas are EXACTLY what the Mariners need.
They should trade one of those starters to the O's.
Don't forget; ownership also made it known that they're only willing to increase the budget by 16 million this offseason.
But hey, we got Dan Wilson as the skipper and Edgar Martinez is back as the hitting coach. They'll fix the bats!
They won’t fix the bats lol
It’s sad that their narrative is becoming more and more apparent. “Be just good enough to stay in the mix but don’t ever go in and make a serious push to be contenders.” Their core is almost all there, J-Rod, Cal, Raley, Arozarena, Robles and of course the pitching staff and Muñoz, Santos and Brash. It’s clear ownership doesn’t really care about winning, if they did they would’ve fixed their tv deal like the dbacks and made smarter moves to give them more money.
I know this past year we had about 185 HR, but we were drastically down in the base bits or any other hits. If we could just get hits to get on base, I feel like we could at least get to the stupid 54%
As a Mariners fan: Dippoto should've been fired years ago
Does anyone truthfully think they will realistically extend one of Cal, Logan or Kirby? Cal is a Boras client = no chance. Kirby rumors are he wants to go back east to compete for a championship. Logan appears to want to test free agency and he should as he has improved every year he has been in the majors. I can even see them trading Julio at some point to get out from that contract once the teams foundational pitching core along with Cal starts to run away from this organization.
Cal dropped Boras recently but he's called out the team's cheapness already so it doesn't mean much.
Cal 100% will be playing somewhere in the east in a few years. Him and Kirby can't wait to leave this trash organization. I can see Logan staying.
Worth mentioning the dynamics of T-Mobile park as well as the weather benefits pitching and hurts hitting. The Mariner's pitchers are very good but they are way better at home than on the road. Likewise the hitting is very bad but better on the road than at home. A lot of hitters don't even want to sign there because of it. Look at Teoscar's numbers in his 1 year stint.
They are going for the new record of post season drought
Seattle could of sign cheap free agents like Santander or gleyber torres but they rather be mid
It sounds like the park they play in may have something to do with helping pitchers and hurting hitters. Sort of like the opposite of the Coors Field effect
Kevin Mather told the Rotary club that the M's like to wait out players until closer to the start of the season when they'll have to approach the team with their hats in their hands. Mather is gone, but the song remains the same.
So, they are like the reverse Orioles.
White Sox aside, there is one true thing in baseball. Every team wins 50 and loses 50, it's what you do in the other 62 games that matter. Who you have as your 5th starter is really not that important. Once you make the playoffs that 5th starter isn't going to be a factor anyway. Coveting a 5th starter who plays once a week on average vs having a starting fielder who can contribute nearly everyday is just not the same. Seattle will be fine if they trade a starter and probably better off offensively with what they can bring back in a trade. As an O's fan some of us also covet our prospects and get all bent about trading them but you can't play two shortstops at the same time. Where are we gonna put some of these prospects when they push through AAA. You either trade some away for things you need or you trade away current players to make room for the prospects to come up. Being able to trade outside of your division or league for that matter is the best opportunity. Lastly, every GM is going to be scrutinized for things they do or didn't do since it is always easier to make judgment after the fact.
so it's like the 2021 Mets I guess. great pitching, zero offense at all.
Thank you for making this video. Its been really hard being a lifelong Mariners fan. I spent 20 years without seeing the playoffs and i still loved the mariners and dreamed of playing for them growing up. Then they made the playoffs and seemed poised to be a top 5 team in MLB with just a couple solid free agents. That just never came. Year after year it is becoming more apparent, they dont care about their fans, they dont care about winning and they dont care about Seattle. I love the Mariners more than anything but its getting harder to support them. SELL THE TEAM
5:18 I see Rockies are still catching strays
Mariners should trade Julio to the Dbacks, because making the Dbacks better is what they are best at.
Excellent insight on the Mariners both fantastic pitching wise and hitting woes. The Bosox possible transaction seems like a great win-win for both organizations.
Good job with this analysis !
I am not part of the 59%!
Love this content.
W
To be fair, Santana spent his best years with Cleveland and was miserable at the plate in his lone season in Seattle.
Insane that a team that can’t hit would say no to 2 competent-potentially-good hitters. Yoshida is worth the gamble since you’re also getting Casas.
Redsox are willing to give Mariners Masa. Yoshida can help this team more than most cause he definitely makes contact often . You need Masa!
You're totally correct in your analysis. I see many similarities between the M's and my Cubs.
Having a top hitting catcher, and JRod and the offense is 22... Is crazy! I know theres other guys but that's honestly wild to me.
Well Jrod have a mediocre season and Raleigh is a power hitter ,low average, lot of homerun and lot of strikeouts.
J-Rod hasn’t been strong since Late July of 2023… 😒
@@thelonewolf7443 sad man. He's got the potential of an all timer.

Comparing your mlb the show skills to the mariners is super funny 😂🎉
Danny O Donohughe reference??? Mad respect for that insane pull
the jays must have the same play book
I predict the mariners will finish with 117 wins and for the third straight year miss the postseason by 1 game
As a mariners season ticket holder from 2022-2024 and never renewing till ownership changes. Nothing matters until Ownership changes. This team does not want to win. They want to make money at an efficient clip. You can feel it in the ballpark, you can feel it in the fanbase, you can feel it every where. I root for the players on the field to succeed, don't confuse that with my distain for John Stanton and that ownership group who create grand delusions of their payroll consistently being minimal. If they wanted to, they could let Dipoto cook and we'd be a top 5 team in baseball easy. And we don't even need to spend a whole lot more.
TLDR: They don't want to spend = they don't want to win. They do everything else great, but they will not take the next step to be a real conversation.
It's getting Oakland really fast around here.
SafeCo is a pitcher’s paradise, but even Bonds would struggle in that park. Deep outfield, shitty roof which lets the cold, humid air in which kills every baseball mid flight and wicked wind coming off the coast. AND the batter’s eye sucks too; it’s at a weird angle and reflects light which makes it hard to track balls at time.
It's not great, no, but I will say that 9 other ballparks yielded less homeruns than T-Mobile last season. What I will say that is worse is it's not a great park for gap hitters. T-Mobile was dead last in the league for doubles and triples. And it sucks that some players are able to adjust to the batters eye and some never do.
The mariners are the 2009-2012 Rays. People forget and dont mention how bad the Rays hitting was during that stretch. There pitching was still great those years and they even made the playoffs in 2010 and 2011. The rays in that 4 season gap were no hit 4 times and were perfect gamed 3 times in that gap. Look it up its insane. People never mention how bad the rays hitting was those years and i think its probably because people expect a small market team to hit like shit. I remember watching The Beurhle perfect game and telling my friend the rays werent going to get a hit that day in the first inning. The problem those seasons wasnt the hitters alone. We had evan langoria, Crawford, and zobrist for most of those years. all 3 of these guys will get Hall of fame votes. The problem was Joe madden had a different lineup every game. Batters couldnt get comfortable. Madden was a manager who liked to move guys around just for the heck of it. Some game Langoria would hit 2nd and others he would hit 6th. Madden had like 100 different lineups in a couple of those seasons.
Crazy how they made it in 2011
Cubs fan #1 , Mariners fan 1A .... Sad but true. They simply have to trade a starting pitcher for offense. If not, well....... gonna be a long year.
At least the Cubs made, and won, the 2016 World Series.
That why I like being a rangers fan there offense sucked and they went into the offseason and help their offense and bullpen
The only thing that determines Mariner's front office decisions is profits. They will only spend on players if they believe it will lead to more revenue for the team that offsets it. They are happy to coast through mediocrity and remain one of the most profitable teams in the league.
So Dipoto is cool with only winning 87-88 games a year?
Shouldve just said we're OK with being mediocre
Shit if they would have won 87-88 games last season they make the playoffs
@schlootle they would've been the 2 seed in the WC. Then they may have played Houston in which Houston may have beat them to advance to the ALDS.
That's all speculation though.
I still think even with what Seattle has they are contenders if they will just stop swinging wildly at stuff out of the zone or breaking balls in general. Look for change ups and fastballs. Change up move very little so just set back on it. Fastballs like a cutter or 2 seam have some run to them depending on arm slot and grip. But they are very hittable pitches.
There's only one move I'm interested in anymore re: the Mariners. Ship the Mariners to Oklahoma City, and move the Thunder back to Seattle. There's a reason we care more about the Sonics than the Mariners in Seattle.
Do you think one of the Mariners pitchers will win a Cy young next year?
Bryan Woo is the only one who can pitch at an elite level outside of Seattle. Even when healthy he's a darkhorse at best. M's SPs need serious improvements for it to happen in 2025.
lol they’ve been wasting time since the end of 2003 season when they didn’t want to spend money on signing Miguel Tejada! So I quit being a fan of theirs! Glad I didn’t waste my last 20 years!
Slamtana signing w the guardians over the mariners isn’t a surprise… his longest tenure was with that team and they’re much more competitive than seattle
and competent.
@ most important aspect that I wish wasn’t true
All these non moves just points to the coming lockout at the end of the CBA. The owner are going all in on a salary cap. It will be a fight to the finish
Yoshida’s swing reminds me a lot of Tino Martinez
This makes me sad as a Mariners fan. Sadge
lets sell the team
As an M's and Dodgers fan... the M's GM and Owners are not risking for high reward and our salary cap is atrocious. Scared money don't make money as the saying goes... I hope they do better in the 2025 season. I know the bullpen will do great...but our offense...Sigh
Sense when has the Mariners not wasted our time
SF Giants are another frustrating team. Adames was such a clutch signing; but failing to land Burnes was basically the difference between 80 wins and 85 wins. Best path now is to land Ha-Seong Kim for 2B, and go "all-in" on athleticism, defense and speed. Alonso at 1B is intriguing, but I don't think the Polar Bear's skill set will age well, nor suit the ballpark in SF. Conversely, Kim's slash hitting / speed/ OBP game is tailor made for SF's style of play.
Bailey at catcher, 3B Chapman, SS Adames, Kim at 2B, and say Tyler Fitzgerald at 1B would comprise the best infield defense in baseball. Go for it, Giants! Mark my words: Kim is going to go down as one of the best free agent signings of this off-season class. People are scared off by the shoulder injury, and maybe Kim is more a 2B than a SS now. But I say look at the long term and lock him up to a 4 year deal. His 2026 is undoubtedly going to be better than his 2025, and he doesn't turn 30 years old until next October!
Inexplicable franchise. They have good revenue streams, a deep farm system, and play in a favorable division. Their pitching is still good, but they do not upgrade their offense.
The Mariners aren't an organization that is serious about winning.
Done with this pathetic Ownership team.
My wife and I canceled our season tickets 2 years ago and havnt looked back.
Not supporting these greedy goons who have zero civil obligation to our wonderful and beautiful M’s fan base and community
Problem is the ownership is only worried about 1 thing and thats lining their pockets with money. The mariners are one of the most profitable teams in the league, but the owners dont want to win they want the money and that is all. i feel sorry for all the talent that this team has i love this team, but until this team gets new owners they arent going anywhere any time soon.
1:22 Barely into 25' and we have "The Script" reference. Its gonna be a good one
Here's the problem, and I understand why my team is struggling, the front office has payroll limitations, even though they should still be profitable with a payroll 180-190 million, and not 155 million, which is what their reported projected budget is. Besides the payroll issues, these new playoff spots has everyone believing they have a chance, however delusional Miami, Toronto, Colorado, the Angels are,so they don't want prospects like the White Sox. That means the big players you used to be able to trade for using prospects a few years ago aren't available the same way. One of the Mariners podcasters said that an insider told him the Mariners offered a "sh*t ton" for Vlad at the deadline, including Emerson, Montes and another top 5 guy, but the Blue Jays continue to believe their delusions even though they are the 5th best team in the east and they're better off to reset. There's got to be something that brings these teams back to earth to trade normal again because this stagnation of prospects being traded isn't fun to watch when it's only the White Sox taking prospects and MLB ready guys like the Rays always get.
The blue jays are delusional but lots of other teams have traded stars. One case where they tried doesn’t excuse all the nothing
@bigpictureguys8415 The teams that have traded stars, at an alarming percentage, they've been for prospects that are major league ready. That's completely different than how it used to be. Prospects, no matter how close, used to carry much more value. The Mariners' prospects that carry weight aren't close to the majors, and the overpay would have to be something a team can't turn down and that's not wise. I still am baffled the Jays rejected that offer for Vlad. They truly are terribly ran.
"content to NOT be all in"? Hmmm, Arozarena, Turner, Yami?
Now It's toooo expensive to go to a Dodger game , that's the price we pay😢
Orioles & Mariners need to make a deal. Period.
This is why I don’t see the hype with the Cards new hitting coach
He came from the Mariners after that horrible offense
happy new year🎉
As a Met fan, I personally hate the Mariners. They always shut us out and swept us last year. Such an annoying team, even tho they are in AL West. Just hate the thought of the dumb new MLB schedule where every team has to play every team at least one series...
I think the tens of millions of dollars locked in on the Mitch's and the fact that the Mariners market is small compared to the LA, NYC, SD, SF, and DC areas means that this money hurts this much more. These team's attendance is anywhere from 150-200% that of the M's. Naturally this limits the returns on the millions of dollars invested in players.
Also, even Google AI says Haniger was a mistake haha
Mitch Haniger
Haniger left the Mariners in the previous off season and signed with the San Francisco Giants.
The Giants realized their mistake and traded him back to the Mariners.
In 2024, Haniger had a player option for $15.5 million, which he picked up.
He had a negative fWAR and poor defense.
so sad.
They couldn't give KGJ a championship. That's a curse
teams matters, players dont. players are replaceable
What about Randy Arozarena
They're going to have to give up one of their starters to improve upon their offense. That's what I'd like anyways as an O's fan. 😂😂
Painful to root for this team... wasting away the years. Sadly fans will still pack it out & owners will get paid...I see no changes. Cheap Stanton will continue his greed.
If free agents are cowards who don't want to prove how good they really are that's on the free agents.
