  • In this video we head over to the Peak District for a quick lunch and a breath of fresh air. I was recently tagged by Rick T Outdoor/Adventure for the 'Show us your noodle' video and I found a stunning little woodland on the backside of Hen Cloud. Lunch for the day was Super noodles and tuna. Sorry for the wind noise, it was a very blustery day.

      Hi Paul, I hope you are keeping well :) Yeah it is one of the nicest areas local to me. It is very popular with rock climbers throughout the summertime. Something I used to do a long time ago...… before I got old lol. Just walking up was enough :) Thanks as always and have a great weekend, all the best, Mark :)

    Mark I really enjoyed this video. I swear you were an airline pilot in a previous life. I love the way you explain things so well. Good afternoon folks I’m your pilot 👨‍✈️ Mark. Our altitude is 15,000 feet, we’re making our decent into the Peak District. If you look over to the left side of the plane you’ll see a Trangia spirit burner. It’ll run you about 10 pounds and the fuel is relatively inexpensive... 🔥🔥🔥

    Yes Mark know the feeling about fire risk. Seems I'm not far from you and I could see the banks of smoke last summer from the fires at Saddleworth and the air here was hazy and smelled like a peat fire from the Winter Hill blaze.
    Became paranoid after that, cooking on stream banks etc. Tried it once on the moor, piling sand etc under my stove, but underneath still got a bit warm for my liking! Poured about ten gallons of water on it from a stream before I dared to leave it! Great vids, cheers!

    • @markbailey2981
      @markbailey2981  5 років тому

      Hi Steve, many thanks for watching and taking the time to comment :) Yeah, last summer was bad everywhere for fires. The ones on Saddleworth were huge. We had a lot here and where I work in Wales, they were fighting them all summer long. Most were started deliberately which makes it worse!! I made sure the ground was well doused down before leaving. Like I said, I would hate to be responsible for setting everything on fire. If there was a nearby stream, I would of cooked on the waters edge too. Best be safe than sorry :) Thanks again Steve, all the best, Mark.

You may have thought I'd dissipated off the face of the earth since I haven't posted any videos lately, but dad had a heart attack, mom has been sick for several months and producing the videos was just taking to much time away from things I should have been doing. Hi there, yet another really good vid - so cheers. A thought - I use in conjunction with furnace kettles (as in Ghillie etc.) a welder's mat as a barrier between the base and the forest etc. floor - so if you're concerned of fires (as we all should) these are ideal (lightweight, thin easily squirreled away inside the rucksack) and yep my mainstay light weight carry scoff = noodles, chorizo/pepperami , tuna/any tinned fish - mackerel etc. and some sauce be it those sachet ready to use types, curry/Thai/ etc. or pesto - for me dispensed into more lightweight plastic containers rather than tins/glass

But most of the time I'm on my own and don't fancy carrying large amounts of cooking kit with me. Thanks again Nice for the suggestion and comment. All the best, Mark :)

      Hi Rich, I hope you are keeping well :) Yeah its a beauty of a place. Just a shame it is always windy. So it can a tough place to film videos. I'm enjoying the Savotta pack thanks. I will keep using for a while then will do a review on it. But so far no complaints. Thanks as always for watching....... you have a great week too, all the best, Mark :)

    Really enjoyed your video. Some great content and production. I’d love to start making videos. What equipment do you recommend and is there something out can do to reduce wind noise or do you include it for atmosphere? 👍

    Hey Mark🙂 That place is beautiful man. Does it take you long to get there? Nice noodle 😂 How is that pack holding up? Can you do a long term review? I really like it. I might have to splurge one day for one🤑

      Hi Joe, I hope you have had a nice weekend mate :) Yeah it is a nice location. It is about 30 minuets drive from home. But in winter it can be a rough place. So it was nice to have a break in the weather and get out up there. I used to do a lot of climbing there when I was younger. So it was nice to get back. The pack is doing great. I wish it had a waist belt, but I don't tend to carry too much weight, so it isn't necessary. Yeah I can do a long term review on it. I might get a bunch of gear together and do a video showing a load of different kit and how it's holding up. Thanks as always for watching Joe :) Have a great week, all the best, Mark.

      Hi Epic Troll, many thanks for watching :) I don't think it was for anything in particular apart from showing your favourite quick noodle meal. It wasn't like the steak video that was for men's mental health. But still nice to get out :) Have a great day mate, all the best, Mark.
