Can we ever expect more Eluveitie Reacts? I love this band so much! Alot of their songs are also sung in Native Gaelish (Language from back in the Celtic days)!
@@sgfdgdfg3434 Also yes, but I would prefer Elizabeth reacting to the live version of her song Run, live at Lexington, or her one-take live cover of Sweet Dreams :) I'm hoping she does a video or live of her Lakmé cover as well. She rearranged the flower duet for a mezzo voice and gurdy instead of two female voices. That would be some real earcandy for Elizabeth :)
The former singer of Eluveitie Anna Murphy is actually a vocal coach since a few years and I attend her lessons. She also has a very beautiful voice and I'd recommend the song Call of the Mountains by Eluveitie for you to hear.😃🔥
Yes, was gonna suggest call of the mountains, and a rose for epona. Cellar darling is a great band as well. My daughter loves annas voice. Cellar darling was kind enough to send her a signed post card for her birthday a few years ago for which ill be forever grateful.
I would object that few bands manage to be folk, although a lot have folk elements. For example, in my head I see Eluveitite as a melodic death metal band with folk instruments, but I don't think they are folk Edit: slight correction, their debut album Spirit probably crosses the line for me and I would define it as folk.
I am always sad when a favorite band changes personal, but Eluveitie came through with a great new style mixed with the old. They have always sounded incredible and I remain a die hard fan.
If you wanna see Fabi’s true power level in isolation: she does a gorgeous piano+voice cover of Ambiramus, from the same Eluveitie album as Rebirth on her channel.
Eluveitie has a ton of songs in mixed English and Gaulish or straight Gaulish. "Slania's Song" or "Epona" are both amazing. There are a ton of other folk metal bands that vary in how they make their sound but also feature mixed screaming and singing, check out Arkona for one, they're Russian with a vocalist who manages to do crazy gutturals and also angellic melodic singing (she's SO good)
Hei Tank, I just put a suggestion in a comment to E today... from a gear standpoint, do you think it'd work? ... does she run line-level or instrument level into a M222? I dunno which to tell her, but I REALLY wanna hear the result !! If the level-adjust needs to be custom, I will design it up and make the pcb/pedal. Remember, I'm a dentist too, so I'm bound-by-oath to protect her oral space... no teeth-chipping like the original Heil Talk-boxes, lol. Dunlop vs MXR is another Q? Dunno which is more user-friendly.
The song "Ategnatos" is a must listen after this. "Ategnatos" is the name of the album this. It means Rebirth in Helvetii. "Rebirth" is more of the outro track for this thematic album. "Ategnatos" is the song that kicks it off and it uses some of the same lyrics as "Rebirth:. Definetly worth a listen.
If you really want to get a good dose of Gaulish singing, you should check out another Eluveitie song: Epona. The few times I've seen them perform live, that song always got the crowd riled up the most.
I'm part of a celtic historical reenactment group called Viviskes and we (actually they, I wasn't there) were hired to play in the music video for Epona!
YES!! I know you've listened to Heilung and Nightwish, but this brand of Folk metal is very different to both and I can't wait to see your reaction. I also recommend The Call of the mountains (featuring the previous female vocalist), King (only growls) and Ategnatos (same album as Rebirth).
Hey Elizabeth! Fabi also has a side project called Illumishade, where they did a rock cover of Into the Unknown from Frozen II and she has done several gorgeous piano/vocal covers over this lockdown period on her own YT channel, she is an incredibly lovely person as well. Can't wait to hear you check her out more. ❤️❤️❤️
Cool, I was wondering what/who Cellar Darling was! A couple weeks back, Nuclear Blast sent me someone else's shipment, along with my order. I got some Opeth and Cellar Darling! I have not listened to it yet, as I am waiting to see if I need to ship it all back! lol

So suggestion: Amorphis - Bee ( personal favourite) or if you wanna do a harmony group ) Og3ne - bohemian raphsody - Queen (Quaratine cover) which got an honorable mention by Queen themselves
Was about to write Amorphis. Any Amorphis. The whole Oulu show is a masterpiece, all live and great quality. Towards And Against Majestic Beast Sign From the Northside And of course the softer ones (Silver Bride, Sampo, Sky is mine and Silent Waters).
Welcome to vast world of folk metal. Next stop, viking metal and maybe some utter epicness with Skálmöld & Sinfóníuhljómsveit Íslands - Kvaðning (yeah it is live with symphony orchestra).
Man this is one of the most cheesy and overhyped bands in the rock landscape atm imo. But yeah I all subjective of course. The just trigger me every time :D
@@KyuubiNaruto82 Partially you're right actually. There is just a great song with a lot of interesting vocal actions there. Just listen to this one, maybe you'll like it. Also, there is some Kiske.
Rose for epona and call of the mountains are similar. Rose ifor epona better though. Different lyrical flow than what most are used to. Was written kinda like an off rhythm poem. And the song has a story.
I am a big fan of them for years. Their music brings together two fantastic musical genres and I love it. They not only use traditional instruments but their texts go back on myths and mythical figures. Please review Inis Mona one day !
If you would like some more Hurdy Gurdy and folk music I would definitely recommend Patty Gurdy featuring Faun “Luring” Very relaxing song with two great singers
The guitar tone is so powerful and clean, always have the Bose on lol.Hey I've been listening to Metal for 40 years and their are so many bands now and genres,sub- genres, can't keep up.This band is a first for me also and they rock.
I think you would enjoy Northern Kings, that was made up by Jarkoo Ahola, Marko Hietala, Tony Kakko and Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto. They were a super group that made symphonic metal covers of many songs.
@@Kekoapono Also "We don't need another hero"!! But one for me that's special is "I shall be so lucky". The complete turn they gave with their interpretation for me is phenomenal!
I would definitely recommend Cellar Darling (with three former members of Eluveitie). There is a nice live version of Insomnia, which is one of my favorites.
You should check out Volbeat! I'm curious to hear what you think of his voice, my picks for songs would either be Leviathan or Die to Live, both off their newest album.
Woohoo, nice analysis, I love Eluveitie! Call of the Mountains is a good second Eluveitie song, that was before Anna, Ivo and Merlin left to make their band Cellar Darling, which is also amazing - see Insomnia for a good choice from them. Love the videos, keep it up! 🖤 P.S. Another vote for Alter Bridge and Myles Kennedy!
If I recall correctly, "Rebirth" was the first single released after several members left and new ones joined, so the song kind of feels like an introduction to the "new" Eluveitie members.
great reaction liked it a lot and yes it is a hurdy gurdy. Their main theme is Celtic history and culture in continental Europe and you can learn a lot about the Celts when you listen to the lyrics. Eluveitie mostly sing of the celtic tribe of the Helvetii who lived in the area of todays Switzerland, southern Germany and western Austria and was the first tribe that came under pressure when the Roman Empire started its expansion north and when the Gallic Wars (around 60-54 B.C.) started. The band had a lot of line-up changes during the years, the most impactful in 2016, when the previous female vocalist/hurdy gurdist Anna Murphy, Merlin Sutter (Drummer) and Ivo Henzi (Guitarist) left the band and founded "Cellar Darling". Some songs with the current line-up you could react to are: "Breathe", "Ambiramus", "The Slumber", "Worship" or "Deathwalker" (live at Wacken 2019). With the previous line-up (with Anna Murphy on vocals/hurdy gurdy) I would suggest: "King", "Tegernako" (live at Summerbreeze 2008), "Thousandfold", "A Rose for Epona", "Alesia" or "Quoth the Raven" (video recorded in the studio) or "The Siege" if you want to hear Anna scream. But I think there are no official videos to "Alesia" or "The Siege" as far as I know. From their acoustic songs I would recommend "Omnos", "Brictom", "Desumiis Luge" (powerful, written and performed by Anna Murphy and Meri Tadic (former violinist who left in 2014), it is a curse of Helvetic women against some Roman leaders, unfortunately there is no official video for this one too) from "Evocation I: The Arcane dominion" and "Lugus" (god of Trade and craftsmanship), "Caturix" (god of war) or "Epona" (with Gaulish and English lyrics, at the end of this video there is a little explanation who Epona was) from "Evocation II: Pantheon". These two albums are more focussed on the Folk part of their style and the songs are sung in Gaulish, the extinct (since 500 AD) language of the continental Celts that could be reconstructed by using inscripions found at archeological sites from all over Europe. For more hurdy gurdy you could check out the channel of Eluveities hurdy gurdist Michalina Malisz ua-cam.com/video/QfP2qYlNBdw/v-deo.html . But PLEASE avoid her playthroughs or her early Eluveitie covers that she had done before she was asked to join the band because it would spoil future reactions. But you could check her "5riffs" series where she plays 5 riffs from famous bands (like Black Sabbath or Iron Maiden) on the hurdy gurdy. She has done a great cover of "Martyr" by August burns Red too ua-cam.com/video/Mvs39ZeQjq4/v-deo.html . There is also a video where she explains how she got to join the band ua-cam.com/video/X6zmZraewQY/v-deo.html. There is also a great interview with Christian "Chrigel" Glanzmann (founder, male vocalist) and Fabienne Erni (female vocalist) which they did for the podcast of Beth Roars: ua-cam.com/video/y14pAyoAiIM/v-deo.html . Fabienne and Guitarist Jonas Wolf also have a side project called "Illumishade" thats worth checking out.
If you get on with this you should take a look at the previous singers new band, Cellar Darling. Avalanche, Starcrusher or Freeze would be my picks but they are consistently good, so literally any song would work. Also, there is a video on youtube called Rock the Classic: Eluveitie you should check out. It's about the combination of metal and classical music, and adapting a classical piece for a metal band. With your background you might find it interesting.
I love the juxtaposition of Chrigel and Fabienne both yelling "I am the softly whispered word". 🤣 That verse as a whole reminds me of "Do not stand at my grave and weep".
I'm SO thrilled you finally did an Eluveitie song. This has been my all time favorite band for years and years and I've seen them as many times as possible in the US. Glad you loved them and I loved seeing someone enjoy their first listen to them!
Solid recommendation as a starter to Doom Metal is Orchard by Windhand Great guitar, ominous lyrics, Dorthia Cottrell's vocals are always great and a deep, heavy crushing sound with ambiance at a slow pace that feels like a car has been parked on your lap through soundwaves while still being accessible.
I first saw Eluveitie supporting another band, having never heard of them before. They nearly blew the main act out of the water! Michalina Malisz is the hurdy gurdy player. She has her own channel doing some gurdy covers, and has a company that builds them too!
If you like this combination please make review of KAMELOT - Liar Liar ft. Alissa White-Gluz (Official Video) | Napalm Records It is much better, there is combination of great scream and classical perfect vocal Alisa is great in scream) It is much better
Hello Elizabeth in this time of covid lock down , i dont mean to be pushy but can you give a listen to The Doobie Brothers song , Listen to the music ( live from the beacon theater) i think we all need a little happiness in our lives right now, dont you think , i love your reactions to songs and artists that you never heard of before its priceless, thank you so much . FROM CANADA EH!
"This was my rebirth As one with pain and with distress Sweet surrender in serenity Will I remember this womb at all? Will I never know?" Celts were very into being reborn. Specifically, they understood that you are in darkness in the womb. In this case they're wondering if they will remember this world at all when reborn into a Roman one.
The instrument that you mention is Hurdy Gurdy. Their first singer Anna Murphy used to play that. She left the band and she created a new one with the name Cellar Darling. You should check it.
If you're looking for more songs from Eluveitie, I recommend: Celtos (my favorite for a good blend between styles) A Rose for Epona (look for a live version with Anna Murphy, although I like Fabi equally well) Inis Mona (listen to the traditional folk song Tri Martolod first- Eluveitie uses a lot of traditional melodies in their music) Of course everything from this band is wonderful, you really can't go wrong.
You should check out Eluveitie’s “The Siege” or “Quoth the Raven” live with their previous female vocalist, Anna Murphy, she sings and do harsh vocals as well.
It would be cool if you checked up Cradle of Filth, nymphétamine. Dani Filth, the singer, really knows how to write lyrics, creating own words and sing with so many voices it would be cool to see your reaction. A Ghost in the fog, is also a good one.
Fabienne is such an awesome singer, she also has her own band called Illumishade, where you can hear much more of her, it's really worth checking out! "Rise", "The Endless Vow", "World's End" are all fantastic examples of Fabi's talent
It is a hurdy gurdy. Also I think it’s an Irish flute. Ambiramus is another good one, but I really like A Rose for Epona, I think that is their old female vocalist (sorry I can’t remember her name) still. It comes across to me as a really playful voice but really good. Love your videos and how expressive you are! Keep up the good work!
Eluveitie is one of my favorite bands, I'm so happy to see you reacting to them! They have a huge focus on Gaul lore and references to specific regions, have many songs with Gaulish lyrics, and tons of imagery and stories from the Gallic Wars. Also hurdy-gurdy is the best, and their current player used to do hurdy-gurdy covers on UA-cam before being recruited when their former player left
Eluveitie's sound is so unique. They have a lot of reaction-worthy material. I would especially recommend acoustic versions of The Call of the Mountains and Omnos, but any of their songs would do tbh.
Back in the early days of the band they had another female vocalist / Hurdy Gurdy player called Anna Murphy. Today she's got her own project that I think you'll like. Please check out Cellar Darling - Black Moon.
I miss the Cellar Darling trio these days, Anna Murphy is on a whole different level IMO! Saw them live a few years ago when Anna etc. were still with the band and it was a magical hour and a half. Now I must go listen to “Omnos” and “Inis Mona “😀
I think you would Really appreciate "WIntersun - Sons of Winter And Stars Live Rehearsal at Sonic Pump Studios" I hope you get to check it out soon whether it be on a video or just in your free time.
Great reaction as always. Eluveite is hands down the best live band I have seen and I didn't even know who the where when i got the tickets, they toured with a favorite of mine Lacuna Coil and was absolutely blown away. Most metal bands have drum or guitar solos, Eluveite have Hurdy-Gurdy solos, how can you not love that
And if you want a recommendation for another video, you will probably have a lot to say about "The Pretty Reckless" and their song 25. The singer is Taylor Momsen former child actress (she was in The Grinch with Jim carrey among other things) turned rockstar and it's very clear music is her real passion.
So many awesome Folk Metal bands: Korpiklaani, Turisas, Alestorm, Falconer, Tyr, Ensiferum, Finntroll, Svartsot, Orphaned Land, probably others that I'm forgetting. Why not check out them all!?
PLEASE DO MORE ELUVEITIE! Definitely "King". "Alesia", or "Antegnatos". Also, much of their melodies are based off of real folk songs. And the lyrics often come from gaulish and latin language folk songs. THEYRE SO COOL
Also, this is the last song on the album. It shares a similar chorus to the first song (Antegnatos) and the whole album is about that concept of death, zen, and rebirth. In other words, they fucking rule. \m/
IIRC, this was their first release after 3 band members--including Anna Murphy, who pulled double-duty as female vocalist and hurdy-gurdy girl--left and started their own band, Cellar Darling. I recommend this here video: CELLAR DARLING - 'Death' Live at UA-cam Space London (OFFICIAL LIVE VIDEO) E: A Rose For Epona > Epona. Doesn't have 24M views on UA-cam for nothing.
Please check out "Call of the Mountains" and "A Rose for Epona" by Eluveitie!! As well as some tracks by their former clean vocalist Anna Murphy's other band Cellar Darling. I recommend "Avalanche", "The Spell" and "Fire, Wind & Earth" as good starting tracks.
To see Fabienne (the female vocalist) in a more rock/pop setting, you should check out her side-project ILLUMISHADE. To get more folk-metal, but with a slightly different, less 'death metal' twist, I recommend Cellar Darling. They're a band comprised of former members of Eluveitie.
Some suggestions: Amenra, a Belgium doommetalband. Also has a broader artistic approach with collaborations etc. song i.e. Solitary Reign -- She Past Away, a Turkish postpunk / wave band. song i.e. Kasvetli Kutlama --- 2 groups more in amplified medieval genre: Qntal: Ad Mortem Festinamus --- Helium vola: omnis mundi creatura --- Whispering sons, a belgium postpunk band song: Alone (wait until you hear here voice)
10:26 is definitely hurdy gurdy! The player's name is Michalina Malisz, she has her own youtube channel where she does hurdy gurdy covers of famous metal riffs, as well as gurdy playthroughs of Eluveitie songs :) And oh man Elizabeth you keep spoiling all us nerds out here. First it was Heilung, then the anime medley, more Floor, and now Eluveitie? Thank you! If you want some more Eluveitie I'd suggest checking out their old song Omnos. I can't believe it's been 12 years already since that song aired. It features some different members, as they had some big switches in 2013 and 2016. I think you'll like it, as it's sung in a very interesting language :P So, the endless list of recommendations keeps growing: - Eluveitie, Omnos. The video clip can be found here: ua-cam.com/video/msRy4vcSX4k/v-deo.html - The Parcels, especially their song Withorwithout from their live take at Hansa Studios: ua-cam.com/video/D-gNnH7vnUo/v-deo.html I think you'll be surprised by their voices! - Peter Hollens and Whitney Avalon, their Disney villains medley - Patty Gurdy, for some more sweet, sweet gurdy action as well as a nice, all-round voice. Especially her original song "Run" performed at Lexington (ua-cam.com/video/zPIsxYnJ9Ac/v-deo.html) or her one-take cover of Eurythmics's Sweet Dreams (ua-cam.com/video/e7B15v51Ro4/v-deo.html) - Larkin Poe, they're a sister grassroots/rock/blues duo from Nashville, and I love their attitude and songs. Their original song "Bleach Blonde Bottle Blues", especially the live version from their porch pickin' stream, starting at 4:15 ua-cam.com/video/mNKxZfJyzKQ/v-deo.html&ab_channel=LarkinPoe , or anything from their coverseries Tip of the Hat here on UA-cam.
Oh, this is gonna be good. Not because of the singers, the dude in particular is pretty meh and she is ... pretty good I guess? But really its about the folk metal instrumentalization, I have a feeling you really liked this. Just a hunch, not read the description at all, who does :P
Hi Elizabeth! i'd like to suggest a female singer and songwriter that mixes some cool Celtic sounds with metal and World influences plus amazing vocals! Her name is LEAH. She is a symphonic metal artist from Canada. The song i'd like for you to react to is " Labyrinth" from her album "The Quest"! Thank you and keep up the good work!!!
That duet is really great. One of the best metal female/male duets of two front singer from to different metal bands. Noora Louhimo (Battle Beast and Joacim Cannes (Hammerfall) nail that one.
hello teacher Elizabeth, I am a new follower and I really appreciate your work on UA-cam, unfortunately I was not able to be present during the magnificent parties to celebrate the numbers of subscribers, but even so I was very happy with their achievements. I come through this text to ask for attention to our Brazilian MAESTRO, Andre Matos, I believe that other of our faithful and dedicated fans of the Maestro do Rock have already appeared here to make a similar request. If they haven't done it yet, I'll try to whip them myself hahahaha. Just kidding (or not) but here is the suggestion of the video clip MAKE BELIEVE - Angra or another expressive song from her second band SHAAMAN, the sweet INNOCENCE. Unfortunately our MAESTRO left for the choir of paradise a short time ago, almost two years have passed and there are always new exciting tributes appearing. Mine is this, it is asking you to be one more star to reflect the brilliance of the most fabulous Brazilian musician of all time.
Helo, Elizabeth! If you like to listn to the contrast between clean vocals and growling/screaming, try listening to some early works by the band named "Tritania". Some good examples are "Sequel of Decay", "Beyond the Veil", "Wormwood" or "Hatred Grows". Also, I would like to recommend to you a very interesting german band named "Haggard" they have some interesting works that are mix of metal and classical european music, like for example an excellent metal cover of a scandinavian ballad "Herr Manneling" that was written in middle ages. They use such instruments like harps, violins, cellos etc. in conjunction with choir, growling and electric guitars.
Have you considered listening to Soundgarden's Slaves and Bulldozers. It's on their Badmotorfinger album (1991). As a musician I've considered this track to be a fantastic display of vocal control.
If you like that sort of voice mix, Brothers of Metal is a fun band too. I personally love Yggdrasil (ua-cam.com/video/v5yYMjU8xDg/v-deo.html) and their new "One" (ua-cam.com/video/Be_CyeFqziY/v-deo.html).
If you like Eluvetie you may want to have a look at a brand new band named Tvinna. It is composed of former members of Eluvetei and the German folk band Faun (another band you should have a look at by the way). For example Kreiz (which include some guest vocals by Eivør) ua-cam.com/video/4Ire83UzqI0/v-deo.html
Would love you to check out one-woman black metal project Myrkur, she's AMAZING and has turned the genre on it's head. Check out the song "Ulvinde" I think you'd really dig it!
That's indeed a Hurdy-gurdy. Played by Michalina Malisz. She's amazing and has her own youtube-channel where she breaks down her hurdy-gurdy parts in Eluvetine and does covers of other metal bands. She's super cool! This is a good introduction before nerding down in her other stuff: ua-cam.com/video/9ljEq5J9SnU/v-deo.html
Would you be willing to react to Demon Hunter's The Negative ua-cam.com/video/J2-K6-ppZLo/v-deo.html It's off of Their 2019 album War or More Than Bones ua-cam.com/video/NM4IxoBeuOc/v-deo.html which is off of their 2019 album Peace, both albums came out on the same day, War displays the heavier side and Peace the lighter side of the band
"My swooning world Infested by strident cries In worship of the void All vanishing in the dull and distant noise" Losing faith again. But acknowledging Cerridwen. In D&D, the elven deities are highly influenced by Celtic lore. Think a female Correlan Laerithn.
I don't think song has bagpipes, but their song Inis Mona does for sure (love the 'evil' bagpipes look). Great song too. Rose for Epona is another one of theirs that is amazing. That song has their previous singer/hurdy gurdy player Anna Murphy. They also have a great video (in German) where they cover Edvard Grieg In the Hall of the Mountain King. Look up Rock the Classic Eluveitie. There is a version with subtitles.
Welcome to the wonderful world of folk metal! Eluveitie is Swiss and their name refers back to the Helvetii (latinized form of the name), the tribe that gave the country one of its names. Most of the lyrics are inspired by celtic history or mythology. In particular trying to show the Roman conquest of Gaul from the Gaulish (Celtic) perspective. They also have several songs in a form of reconstructed Gaulish, or continental Celtic.
If you want to try something awesome with folk Metal elements, try Wilderun - Hope and Shadow (Quarantine Session). There are lots of Instruments I don't know what they are called. Also the singer is awesome. Also Wilderun - o resolution is very good. Someone said it is like Devin Townsend and Opeth had a child together. The band is from Boston and totally underrated. Greetings from Germany
Growly parts were kinda meh for me, it gets boring when overused, but the rest of the song was great. Loved the Celtic + metal vibe, it is always a great mix.
New viewer here, with probably not a popular request, but part of how I found your channel was your breakdowns on the symphonic metal genre; the song I’m requesting is “Dancing in Hell” by Eleine.
You would be correct about the hurdy gurdy! Eluveitie uses flutes, pipes, bagpipes, whistles, violins, mandolins, harps, you name it! As for the song itself, Antumnos in specific is the Gaulish underworld. By saying "In front of Antumnos' gate" they are saying they stand before the gate of the underworld. Eluveitie's music is very, very heavily steeped in Gaulish history and myths (what little we are able to gather regarding it) and they even have some songs that they have had translated into Gaulish and they have performed. I believe their name comes from a Gaulish tribe, the Helvetii (more specifically, from some graffiti in Mantua that is generally interpreted as meaning The Swiss) which is appropriate as they were the tribe that spanned the Swiss plateau. Their album Helvetios is entirely from the point of view of the Helvetii during the Gaulish wars lead by Julius Caesar.
I wish there were more reactions by her about Eluveitie. They're an absolute favorite of mine. The fact that seemingly the only song of theirs she reacted to is one completely in English is just such a tragedy. Not the fun mixed lyrics of Ambiramus nor the full Gaulish lyrics of Epona.
If these unprobable combos is your thing then I'd suggest you check out Sonata Arctica - Cinderblox. Power Metal meets bluegrass is just something else, especially when made to sound really cool.
Harakiri for the Sky - Calling the Rain: ua-cam.com/video/bcgS30XAd8I/v-deo.html They have a multitude of immensely touching songs and they're all extremly saddening and dark especially if you look at the lyircs.
We just released merchandise! Check out the full line-up here: thecharismaticmerch.com

Edit: slight correction, their debut album Spirit probably crosses the line for me and I would define it as folk.
I can agree with that assessment. What's fun is different cultures' folk metal, like Mongolian folk, in the Hu or Tengris, and bhangra with Bloodywood

11:30 I'm hearing you... "You get a solo! You get a solo! You get a solo!"
If you are going to watch more Eluveitie, please check out "Epona" "Call of the Mountains" or "Lvgvs" :D
Epona or Call of the Mountains for sure
3rd for "A Rose for Eponia" and "The Call of the Mountains"
Yes!!
Don't forget inis mona and omnos
And yet another call for at least A rose for Epona.
So - odd instruments. Hurdy Gurdy, Low whistle, high whistle, long-neck mandolin, Irish harp and bodhran (the hand held drum towards the end)
tin whistle!
Yes! Hurdy gurdy :3
Baritone mandolin I think. Like an octave lower than a traditional one.
I believe that hand held drum is called a Bodran.
The bodhran is also there in the early "light" portion, kind of far & fuzzy.
Epona got the crowd goin crazy the one time I saw them live! such a great song
Evocation and Evocation II are the one you’re looking for! 😏
I'm part of a celtic historical reenactment group called Viviskes and we (actually they, I wasn't there) were hired to play in the music video for Epona!
@@girlwiththewolves suavelos karas! From Devisarno of Terra Taurina! 😉
@@girlwiththewolves yooooo
Try ARKONA for slavic folk metal, they are crazy.
Also GRAI
I love Arkona!!!
YES!! I know you've listened to Heilung and Nightwish, but this brand of Folk metal is very different to both and I can't wait to see your reaction. I also recommend The Call of the mountains (featuring the previous female vocalist), King (only growls) and Ategnatos (same album as Rebirth).
please react to KISS I STILL LOVE YOU UNPLUGGED. Love your channel
Mainly because neither Nightwish nor Heilung are folk metal, yes
Ategnatos, YESSS!!!
Inis Mona, Calling the Rain, Slanias Song (okay, Slania is my favourite Eluveitie album 😉 ) or Tegernakô would be awesome, too.
@@mfu3415 The hay-mosh video of Tegernakô at summerbreeze, for sure!
Otherwise, Quoth the Raven is hard to beat.
You should give Beast In Black - "Blind and Frozen" a listen. The vocalist, Yannis Papadopoulos has an excellent voice.
Yes! And his cover of Ghost Love Score is insane, would love to see her cover that too!
I would add Ghost in the Rain, because the song is emotional and he expresses those emotions and the pain through his voice perfectly!
Yep!
Yannis is incredible..
Yes definitely, really hope Elizabeth has a chance to check out Beast in Black.
Recommendation of Wintersun - Sons of Winter and Stars.
Yes please
Absolutely!
yea! and make sure its the live rehearsel version!
Classic but i'd be curious to see Elizabeth's take on it :-)
A Great one!
❤️❤️❤️
I like it, but you can try some older song with Anna Murphy (last singer) or her band Cellar Darling ;)
Yes! Cellar Darling! :-)
I love Cellar Darling. Good suggestion.
Oh wow definitely Cellar Darling 😲. Love it
Yup...
Cool, I was wondering what/who Cellar Darling was! A couple weeks back, Nuclear Blast sent me someone else's shipment, along with my order. I got some Opeth and Cellar Darling! I have not listened to it yet, as I am waiting to see if I need to ship it all back! lol

OMG! I love Eluveitie! It will be reeeally interesting. Thank you, Liza!
Towards And Against
Majestic Beast
Sign From the Northside
And of course the softer ones (Silver Bride, Sampo, Sky is mine and Silent Waters).
Yess, "the bee" is true amazing
Nah something from skyforger or under the red cloud. The bee is a decent song but the past albums are way more interesting + hairdryer mic as a bonus
Any Amorphis song would be great
I just realised I'm old and boring, I still think their best album is elegy :"-)
Yeeeeee 🔥🔥🔥
Will this take away the 'a thumb, a thumb, a thumb' earworm? Gonna find out! Love the mustard yellow on you 💛
Please consider AMORPHIS: The Bee ! I think you are ready now.
Anything Amorphis with Anneke.
Welcome to vast world of folk metal. Next stop, viking metal and maybe some utter epicness with Skálmöld & Sinfóníuhljómsveit Íslands - Kvaðning (yeah it is live with symphony orchestra).
Ah my homeboys. Yes, it's a great show and song.
Yes! Definitely this!
I LOVE that concert. It's so obvious when you watch it that Skálmöld are enjoying that gig so, so, so much.
Great band but the vocals aren't the main point imo
@@FinneousPJ1 the vocals aren't the best but it could be fun to see her react to it, and this concert is one of the best
I "feel Avantasia - The Tower" would be interesting.
The hurdy-gurdy player has her own channel btw. ua-cam.com/users/helvetion
Rose for Epona is a prayer, begging the Godess's help and protection of her lover who is off to war.
I am a big fan of them for years. Their music brings together two fantastic musical genres and I love it. They not only use traditional instruments but their texts go back on myths and mythical figures. Please review Inis Mona one day !
After this, please do:
Illumishade - Rise;
Fabienne Erni's side project,
that really shows of more of her range.
Illumishade - Rise (acoustic) could be even better to hear her vocals
Double reaction discussing the differences, would then be best.
YOU HAVE to react to Slania’s Song. With a previous female singer, and with Fabiane (the current singer) Ategnatos and Epona are just phenomenal
Could you please react to Within Temptations 'Mother Earth'? I guess you would really like it, with it's playful sound :)
One of my all time favourite Within Temptation songs, would love to see a reaction to that.
If you would like some more Hurdy Gurdy and folk music I would definitely recommend Patty Gurdy featuring Faun “Luring”
Very relaxing song with two great singers
Didn't read, saw Patty Gurdy, assumed you must mean this: ua-cam.com/video/1AaNj7W4AKo/v-deo.html
Would love for her to react to Arch Enemy and go into blind. The eagle flies alone or We will Rise or both since they are different singers.
Yeah Arch Enemy would be great. Like you said, one for both their female leads. Tokyo 2008 We Will Rise / Nemesis versions with Angela are fantastic.
We will rise!
I love their covers of Don’t Stop Believing and Take on Me.
@@Kekoapono Also "We don't need another hero"!! But one for me that's special is "I shall be so lucky". The complete turn they gave with their interpretation for me is phenomenal!
Yes, love Brothers In Arms!
I concur. Love Volbeat. Saw them open for Metallica a few years back.
The Devil's Bleeding Crown!!
P.S. Another vote for Alter Bridge and Myles Kennedy!
Amazing song, even so, I still prefer The Call of the Mountains...
OOOOOOOOooooooo
I prefer the old Eluveitie with Ivo, Merlin and Anna :)
I prefer the new Eluveitie 😎
But I love the old line up too with Anna and the others.
Inis mona, luxtos etc for me.. but then I'm a fintroll, ensiferum, korpiklaani kinda folk guy
If I recall correctly, "Rebirth" was the first single released after several members left and new ones joined, so the song kind of feels like an introduction to the "new" Eluveitie members.
The first metal single. Evocation II: Pantheon already had the new line up
great reaction liked it a lot and yes it is a hurdy gurdy.
From their acoustic songs I would recommend "Omnos", "Brictom", "Desumiis Luge" (powerful, written and performed by Anna Murphy and Meri Tadic (former violinist who left in 2014), it is a curse of Helvetic women against some Roman leaders, unfortunately there is no official video for this one too) from "Evocation I: The Arcane dominion" and
"Lugus" (god of Trade and craftsmanship), "Caturix" (god of war) or "Epona" (with Gaulish and English lyrics, at the end of this video there is a little explanation who Epona was) from "Evocation II: Pantheon".
That verse as a whole reminds me of "Do not stand at my grave and weep".
Oh no, Miss Elizabeth isnt turning metalhead at ALL lol
I'm SO thrilled you finally did an Eluveitie song. This has been my all time favorite band for years and years and I've seen them as many times as possible in the US. Glad you loved them and I loved seeing someone enjoy their first listen to them!
Solid recommendation as a starter to Doom Metal is
Orchard by Windhand
Great guitar, ominous lyrics, Dorthia Cottrell's vocals are always great and a deep, heavy crushing sound with ambiance at a slow pace that feels like a car has been parked on your lap through soundwaves while still being accessible.
Also recommend Khemmis, they’ve got a great mix of power meta of all things thrown into it and then Candlemass for the operatic vocals
Alissa White-Gluz (Official Video) | Napalm Records
It is much better, there is combination of great scream and classical perfect vocal Alisa is great in scream)
It is much better
Elizabeth, you must be the only person I know who can listen to metal and burst out in smiling laughter from the pure joy of what you are hearing.
"This was my rebirth
As one with pain and with distress
Sweet surrender in serenity
Will I remember this womb at all?
Will I never know?"
Celts were very into being reborn.
You should react to "Draconian- The last hour of ancient sunlight"
Jacobbson is the best growl voice in Europe imho. Would be cool to have another crossover episode with Kardavox
If you're looking for more songs from Eluveitie, I recommend:
Celtos (my favorite for a good blend between styles)
A Rose for Epona (look for a live version with Anna Murphy, although I like Fabi equally well)
Inis Mona (listen to the traditional folk song Tri Martolod first- Eluveitie uses a lot of traditional melodies in their music)
Of course everything from this band is wonderful, you really can't go wrong.
You should check out Eluveitie’s “The Siege” or “Quoth the Raven” live with their previous female vocalist, Anna Murphy, she sings and do harsh vocals as well.
Quoth the Raven and (Do)Minion are my favs from that album
Amazing song. Please react Arkona, Slavia Rus
It would be cool if you checked up Cradle of Filth, nymphétamine. Dani Filth, the singer, really knows how to write lyrics, creating own words and sing with so many voices it would be cool to see your reaction. A Ghost in the fog, is also a good one.
Yes! Definitely her ghost in the fog, or Bathory Aria!
Fabienne is such an awesome singer, she also has her own band called Illumishade, where you can hear much more of her, it's really worth checking out! "Rise", "The Endless Vow", "World's End" are all fantastic examples of Fabi's talent
Please do Demolisher by Slaughter to Prevail
The voice from Hell, also called Russia !
@@Maedrya More like portal to hell. When he screams, demons and the devil himself comes flying out.
If I not mistaken, her name was Anna Murphy, my friend)
GOTTA ASK! Who wouldn't want to see how she'd honestly react to Eskimo Callboy "HYPA HYPA"? That might be epic!
YES!
@@Mortarius Their new clean singer has an amazing voice!
Saw them a few times in the older and one time in this „newer“ constellation and have to admit: I definitely prefer the newer one.
I think you would Really appreciate "WIntersun - Sons of Winter And Stars Live Rehearsal at Sonic Pump Studios" I hope you get to check it out soon whether it be on a video or just in your free time.
Yes.
So many awesome Folk Metal bands:
Korpiklaani, Turisas, Alestorm, Falconer, Tyr, Ensiferum, Finntroll, Svartsot, Orphaned Land, probably others that I'm forgetting.
I recommend this here video: CELLAR DARLING - 'Death' Live at UA-cam Space London (OFFICIAL LIVE VIDEO)
E: A Rose For Epona > Epona. Doesn't have 24M views on UA-cam for nothing.
All the suggestions for Epona. Spot on. THAT SONG is evergreen.
Well then. Haha. This will be good.
Vote for Meatloaf: I'd do anything for love.
Try Band-maid someday, "domination" or "freedom"
I keep asking her to do that..... Those are my two most common song suggestions, but ANYTHING is worth the time.
I think you'll like it, as it's sung in a very interesting language :P
So, the endless list of recommendations keeps growing:
- Eluveitie, Omnos. The video clip can be found here: ua-cam.com/video/msRy4vcSX4k/v-deo.html
- The Parcels, especially their song Withorwithout from their live take at Hansa Studios: ua-cam.com/video/D-gNnH7vnUo/v-deo.html I think you'll be surprised by their voices!
- Peter Hollens and Whitney Avalon, their Disney villains medley
- Patty Gurdy, for some more sweet, sweet gurdy action as well as a nice, all-round voice. Especially her original song "Run" performed at Lexington (ua-cam.com/video/zPIsxYnJ9Ac/v-deo.html) or her one-take cover of Eurythmics's Sweet Dreams (ua-cam.com/video/e7B15v51Ro4/v-deo.html)
- Larkin Poe, they're a sister grassroots/rock/blues duo from Nashville, and I love their attitude and songs.
Listen to "Second to One" by Hammerfall. Joacim Cannes has the most beautiful male vocals
For example Kreiz (which include some guest vocals by Eivør)
ua-cam.com/video/4Ire83UzqI0/v-deo.html
"My swooning world
Infested by strident cries
In worship of the void
All vanishing in the dull and distant noise"
Losing faith again.

They have a multitude of immensely touching songs and they're all extremly saddening and dark especially if you look at the lyircs.
