Look at those fuzzy ears. . . Red Panda ears for Red Panda hair! Let's also talk about how amazing Michael Kiske's vocals are in this piece, they are absolutely legendary!
Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to Helloween for the very first time, performing "Keeper of the Seven Keys” live.

Michael Kiske has one of the most well-preserved voices in metal. You should definitely check out the studio version as well and compare how he sounded when he first recorded the track when he was 19 and now when he's in his mid 50s.
Exactly what I thought. Something like "I Want Out" would be very nice, there's even an official music video.
I think he might even sound better. He was always great, but wow.
You’re absolutely right with this comment.
I think some of that might have to do with the 90's and his "leaving metal".
When he came back with Avantasia it was fantastic and his voice has held up amazingly.
It's just weird seeing him bald and looking like one of my old friends (Ironically who introduced me to Helloween)
He sounds better now vs then kai is still my favorite hellowern vocalist and I love kai's stuff with gamma ray.
But I like that micheal kiske has a lot more chest voice now and feeling.
He still holds back to much on the highs.
But is a lot better singer now.
And its the holding back on the highs or unwillingness to do clean screams.
Which is what always annoyed me. About
Micheal kiske.
And I don't want to hear it throws out your clean voice excuse either.
Which is his excuse.
Rob Halford would literally scream live and in the studio and not throw out his voice.
Geoff tate did some screams too without throwing out his clean voice.
He just never mastered or figured out on how to do it properly.
The Keeper of the 7 keys albums are metal masterpieces. Kiske is the without a doubt the best singer Helloween had. He’s just simply amazing.
Kiske is the without a doubt one of the best singer the whole metal world had.

I completely agree. When I was a teenager I bought both Keeper of the Seven Keys cassette tapes and listened to them none stop. As a guitarist I was amazed at the Neo-Classical shredding Kai and Michael did. I sat down and tried to learn everything they played. The entire band are incredible musicians. They never got enough credit in the US for how incredible they are.

I first listened to helloween a few months ago. I could have been listening to them since I was 2, but it took me 36 years to pull my head out of my butt.
Thanks for the analysis, I really enjoyed it!
I think you'd like Helloween - Forever and One, from the same Concert, where Michael and Andi sing together.
I love how giddy you get with Kiske's voice! 💜 LOVE MICHAEL'S VOICE!! Check out the song Cross The Line by Place Vendome. Michael's voice is incredible in that track!
I really love her. She's so smaaaaaaaaaaaart and cute
Wow... so beautiful!!
I'd forgotten how awesome this song is. This performance was on another level! Funny thing is, Kiske was not a fan of metal during his first stint in Helloween. Maybe he is now, but with him it's hard to tell. He IS a Christian, however, which must add to his passion for singing this song. :) God bless the man!
P. S. You should really listen to Yngwie Malmsteen's 'Don't Let It End', with Jeff Scott Soto on vocals. Yngwie's playing and songwriting were at their best, and JSS's vocals were unbelievable. Enjoy!
you should give it a go at Manowar Bridge of Death live, Eric Adams is up there with Dio and Rob Halford
Precious reaction!
I have a couple recommendations for you from around the same time frame.
Warlock doing All We Are and I Rule The Ruins and then the entire album called Thundersteel by Riot.
Just a few suggestions. Love your channel and reactions. You’re awesome
That guitar part reminds me of a Sega Mega Drive game where you run around as some kind of fencing hero...
This type of reaction reminds me of video where classical trained composer played notes from some nightwish song and he was impressed and thenn he was told that it was a song from some Tuomas Holopainen and his metal band
Hey, Elizabeth! Thank you so much for another great video/analysis!
PS: an artist suggestion for another video (hope this don't get lost in the comments): Savatage; song: "when the crowds are gone": ua-cam.com/video/mv82_BvKjw0/v-deo.html
Please ppl, reply this comment with more song suggestions (that you guys think may be more fitting to Elizabeth's analysis, like "the wake of magellan", maybe?)
hall of the mountain king!

Which headphone are you using? I love helloween such a wonderful band
In this video she is using a Beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro.
If you want to pick one up, make sure to pick the variant that suits your audio equipment as there are three impedance variants of the DT-770 Pro!
So I just found you on UA-cam and am thoroughly enjoying your reactions and how you point out so many things. I'm what one would call a shower singer, you know, where you always sound good. I would like to make 2 suggestions and both on far ends of the spectrum. I've noticed how you seem to like the low to high intensity in songs hence my suggestion of 'Colors' by Crossfade. My other suggestion might be one you've heard of or already know from the Voices of Yanni but the name of the song is 'Keeper' by Leslie Mills. I hope you find this and hope you enjoy.
Helloween- I want out.. u need to hear this
This song is for me the definition of Epic! You should listen to one song which is also on the ''Keeper...pt 2'', on which Kiske is marvellous as well, ''We got the right'' ua-cam.com/video/aX2FnHJ6KHs/v-deo.htmlsi=MHeONNgki5F9a6X4! And since the reunion with three singers, there are so many harmonies, they fit perfect together (check the live version of ''How many tears'', basically sung by Kai Hansen, amazing!)
Did they change the date of Halloween or something? Great analysis as always!
As a drummer - No, those are not Blast beats, not in power metal (except in some Dragonforce songs) - you are probably mistaking the Polka/Skank/Slayer beat, which is not a Blast. Whilst a Blast draws it's lineage from this (Hi-Hat + Kick on beat 1, Hi-hat + Snare on Beat 2), the difference is that at some point (for most drummers around 210-220) the Hi-Hat can't keep up, and so as bands wanted to go faster (and we start using 8th notes instead of 16ths for notation), you get the 'Traditional' blast, which is Hi-hat and Kick on 1, Snare on 2.
24:38 That's what every Helloween fan ever has been saying i guess.
"I really love these two guys singing together" - we all do , we all do ! It was the best thing ever to happen to this band.
Agreed!
Stunned me to hear them together. Kiske is one of my favorite vocalists, and the combo of hm and Andi is incredible. (Plus having Kai is incredibly awesome)
amen
Too bad album is just average :(
24:37 Wow, I really love these two guys together.
- Every Helloween fan ever.
The return of Michael and Kai is about the best thing that could have happened to Helloween.
Deris, Kiske and Kai we're born to sing together.
Yes. Just perfection.
Considering that the Keeper of the Seven Keys is over 30 years old and still blows the mind to this day, it is fair to say that this is a masterpiece in metal music!
In any music!
meh.
A masterpiece in musik, not only metal
Up
When I first heard this song, I thought it was Iron Maiden. Great band, great song!!
Elizabeth, take note that this song was performed as the last song of a 3 hour concert. Michael was destroyed at this point.
I don't know. Here in Portugal it was the last of the first encore and they did 2 more on the second, Future World and I Want Out. Still, 3 hour+ long and they are not getting any younger
Not true they played 2 more songs after this one also to be more specific Michael Kiske was sick on this madrid concert and many songs got a lilttle studio help same goes for kai on the medley.
Also keep in mind that Kiske did not sing all the songs and that there was a pause of about five minutes between each song that was spiced up by a video clip.
Wait seriously omg omg
Not to mention this looks like a recent live performance, how about the version of it when it came out back in the 80s?
My favorite thing about Elizabeth's reactions is how infinitely curious she is. She craves wonder and explodes with glee at every discovery. A lot of people who are 'experts' in a field of study shift their sense of personal worth and importance to highlighting that expertise. They become, for lack of a better term, snobs because of their extensive knowledge about the subject. Elizabeth doesn't do this. There is no pretense. She remains like a child excited to learn more. That is invaluable in a person far beyond merely what makes their UA-cam channel interesting.
I tend to overthink things too
Agreed. It is like a comment I saw when she did one of the Dio episodes. I can’t remember the exact words but this is the gist.
-we spent so much time trying to share the music we loved which those we spent time with and only got polite smiles and nods with “yeah, that’s cool” while watching her enjoy the discovery of something that I like and is important to me is awesome!
Michael Kiske is just as amazing in Unisonic!!!!
There's something incredibly charming about pretty women getting geeky about nerdy stuff.
Plus what have they ever written or composed????
I cannot believe how well, Kiske´s voice has aged. First time I went to a Helloween concert was back in 1988 in Stockholm, Sweden. They opened up for Iron Maiden
Good reason for it, he had a 20 year break from touring.
@@eduleal True. But outside of his teenage lungs he sounds road ready!
I sat here and whished I'd hear Helloween live..... and you reminded me that I already HAD! Same tour but in Gothenburg
Yeah. And listen how Iron Maiden sounds now...
I was also where at that concert. I went to see maiden and bought the helloween album the next week. I still remember future world.
Both music and lyrics in this song were composed by Mr. Michael Weikath, one of the guitar players. Such a genius.
You should hear the 18 year old Kiske. Outstanding.
Helloween and Iron Maiden are both very nice example of great musicianship played by bunch of very nice people, loving it , enjoying it and loving their fans as well . That's why all the fans love them. There is still so much Helloween material to react to.
Simple people with simple pleasures and both feet on the ground. Great fans too
That’s just perfect comment. Exactly what i think - these two bands bring me joy everytime
This might sound almost unbelievable but I've thought Iron Maiden is the best rock ever since the early 80's yet I'd never listened to Helloween until now. I'd heard the name but assumed they were a joke like Insane Clown Posse. Now I have a whole "new" to me band to chase down the rabbit hole and see what I missed. Fire up the bong!
you are not wrong. Up the irons from the USA!! I love Helloween but i just adore Iron Maiden!!

Making this kind of channels become a trend. Everybody wants to react to something he or she haven't heard yet and get views with it. But this channel just stand out from the line. You don't just react, but analyse and understand the music too. You aren't doing this, because this is a trend. But because you love music. It's easy to see how passionate you listen to it. More reaction channels should be like this. It's a prime example of good reaction channels.

Maybe you can do a reaction on Savatage!! Gutter ballet or When the crowds are gone are great songs. On streets or Gutter ballet there are a lot of fantastic songs from John Oliva!
Good this got out of the copyright strike "limbo", so to speak! Next one, "I Want Out" I guess? It's a Power Metal classic.
Listen to UA-camr Raphael Mendez’ “What if Bruce Dickinson Sang for Helloween - I Want Out” cover. It’s phenomenal
@@DocHogan thank you man 🤘🏻

That or Eagle Fly Free or How Many Tears. lol
I want out is a rock classic, absolutely should be reviewed
@@DocHogan wow, thanks for the recommendation, that guy is amazing and his voice is really close young Bruce's
I bring you another Helloween suggestion: "March of Time". Is probably one of the most vocal-demanding songs of the band. Kiske recorded the voices for that song when he was 18, but he did a great job singing it back again during their last tour.
The Kiske-Deris combination was something that no one was expecting 5 years ago, but they complemented very well. I have high expectations for the upcoming album with them on the voices.
Also, if you liked power metal and it's classical music influence, I think you definitely should check Rhapsody of Fire.
How'bout We Got the Right lad?
To those of you wondering what was going on there:
It was not exactly "Helloween" it was "Pumpkins united" performing keeper of the seven keys. Michael Kiske (the bald one) famous singer of Helloween back in the 80s and 90s lost his way and left the band. Kai Hansen, Mr. "German Heavy Metal" (the one with the red guitar with eyes) left the band in 1988 to form Gamma Ray. These two
met again at T. Sammets project "Avantasia" (A metal opera that Eliisabeth should check out as well) after a couple of years going their own ways and found out they still have it... They contacted Helloween with the idea of going on a reunion toour in 2015. So thats why there are 3 guitars und 2 singers on stage. Fun fact: that reunion tour was so successful that Hansen and Kiske remained in Helloween, latest song is "Skyfall", just published a couple of weeks ago.
ua-cam.com/video/gLV530n3kMw/v-deo.html
defnitely necessary to go through avantasia as well as gamma ray though! Also Primal Fear might be interesting.
Hansen, Kiske, and Deris all currently handle lead vocals, while Maiden has had three guitarists (Murray, Smith and Gers) for 20+ years. Who says you can't have three of everything? Maybe Judas Priest should look into getting Simon Phillips and Les Binks to join Scott Travis on drums.
inaccurate ... Kiske and Hansen never lost contact and had always remained friends after Hansen left and Kiske was essentially fired from Helloween. Gamma Ray's classic album "Land Of The Free" from '95 had 2 songs with Kiske performing vocals on it and on Kiske's 1st solo album "Instant Clarity" from '96 Hansen made guest guitar appearances. At that time Sammet was busy with the band Edguy. The 1st Avantasia album didn't come out until 2001. Sammet definitely helped Kiske get re-interested in performing metal again though, as for several years prior he had slipped into more singer/songwriter type stuff, having become somewhat disenfranchised with the metal scene in general
cheers mate, im an spanish native speaker, how is KISKE pronounced? kees-keh? or kees-kee? and would it be michael as in michael jordan or mee-shell? or mee-kah-el? since they are from germany.
@@chilesuicmez ua-cam.com/video/gUJy2T7AFyY/v-deo.html ... right at the beginning you hear the german pronunciation ...
I'm 53, I remember seeing Helloween at Donington 1988. I was a snot faced lad of 20. Michael Kiske was a machine then, and still is. Love hearing this, I didn't even realise he had rejoined The Pumpkin Army. Very cool!
Yhea, Kiske and Kai are back in Helloween, and they just released their new album simply named "Helloween", and they totaly delivered.
Viste a maiden también?
This album has been my favourite for 30 years (I'm 36), I can never articulate just how much this is my absolute perfect album. I'm in love with every note and beat of it, if it were a person I would marry it. How is Kiske's voice still the same?? My god, Hansen, Kiske and Slash need to collab 😮 fuucccckkkkk I just musicame
Gal, I'm 28 and I was mesmerized by the original, or so I thought, but then I heard the reunion. Kiske's performance when he was only 19 was astonishing, no doubt, but it's even more impressive that he can still hit these notes and sustain them now. Of course, I'm not nearly as good as they are, but if I can keep my voice in shape when I'm 50, I'll probably be the happiest man alive, unlike my SO or neighbours.
You need to check out Queensryche’s Operation Mindcrime album. The entire album tells a story and the vocals are spectacular.
Absolutely. I saw them do Mindcrime opening for Metallica in 1988 and it was amazing.
Yes!
Breaking the Silence is my favorite song from the album. But the entire album is a masterpiece!
Geoff's vocal's were much better on The Warning and Rage For Order album.
I totally agree

PLEAAASE DO "HOW MANY TEARS" IN THIS CONCERT, it features the 3 singers in the same song, ITS PURE JOY
Yes Kiske, Hansen and Deris in one Song! I think this is the very fucking best Version of this Song!
At the minute 24:39 of the video.. I can hear into my head the EPIC solo coming after that drums beat and the tempo changing.. Btw I LOVE the way you analize the song but what I love the most is the way you react to every detail or changes on the song. Awesome videos, I'll keep watching them 🙌

This song is part 2 of a trilogy. It starts out with "Halloween", then "Keeper of the Seven Keys", and ends with 'King for a Thousand Years". Every song is between 13-15 minutes. Every song is epic on this scale.
This guy is old and he knows. \m/
Is this true?
king for a thousand years is just sublime
@@elicapps6585 Of course it is. Metal bands do have mega-epic songs that span albums telling a tale. E.g. Rhapsody of fire or Ayreon
I’ve noticed that several other songs by Helloween make reference to Keeper as well.

Possibly the best choice for an first listen to Helloween. It's a shame that many people just dismissed them as a 'cheap copy of Iron Maiden'... they really should have been recognized for their musicianship & uniqueness. Most of what they do is nothing like Maiden

I was there, was insane, one of the best live perfomances i've attended.
I played this song in the car for my mother, who was raised on Spanish and gospel music, not being exposed to much rock or metal. She yelled from the back seat “Who is this? This is really good!” That made me happy because she’s very picky about vocals.
How interesting that UA-cam gives the chance to people who listen to different styles of music listen and enjoy music of other kinds. And Michael is 53 years old and his voice still sounds so young.
The most interesting part is that he recorded the vocals to the original before he was 20!
Such a vocal talent!!

better than the highly overrated ronnie james dio
@@macm3081 YOU DON'T LOVE MUSIC. WE ARE STUPID AND DISRESPECTFUL. YOU DON'T NEED TO DEPRESS RONNIE JAMES DIO'S 35-YEAR CAREER TO SPEAK GOOD OF KISKE. BECAUSE YOU DON'T ENJOY BOTH. ASK KISKE WHO THEY ADMIRES AS A SINGER OR WHO HIS MODELS WERE. ON THE OTHER HAND KISKE IS AN EXCELLENT SINGER. BUT THEY ARE DIFFERENT STYLES, SO BECAUSE YOU DON'T LEARN TO ENJOY THE DIFFERENT STREAMS OF MUSIC. PEOPLE WHO GENERATE DICHOTOMIES IN MUSIC MISS A LOT AND VERY GOOD MUSIC. IT IS NOT ONE OR THE OTHER, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A SECTARIAN. YOU HAVE TO ADD AND LEARN. I HOPE LIFE WILL TEACH YOU AT SOME TIME
@@macm3081 APART DID YOU KNOW THAT ELIZABETH HAD ALREADY MADE THIS REACTION TO HELLOWEN MONTHS AGO, AND DUE TO MUSICAL RIGHTS THEY MADE IT DOWNLOAD. THIS IS NOT A COMPETITION OR TO MAKE YOU JEALOUS BECAUSE I REACTED TO DIO FIRST AND HELLOWEN LATER. THERE IS MUCH MORE MUSICAL VARIETY IN DIO'S CAREER THAN KISKE'S. BUT IT IS ONLY A DETAIL. THE TWO ARE EXCELLENT. LONG LIVE ROCK AND ROLL, AND ALL THE MUSIC.
Awesome vocal display by Michael. Never quite understood why they didn't explode in the US like they did in Europe. The first two Keeper albums are, well... Keepers. Both were arguably top-10 metal albums in their release years, and there's a ton of good albums to follow.
The U.S. metal scene was different. A bit grittier I think, dominated by NWOBHM and Bay Area Thrash types. Michael is amazing though. The fact that he is 53 and still killing it is a testament to his talent. Also, there is a multi-lane rabbit hole opening for Elizabeth here with Helloween and their various vocalists (Hansen era, Deris era, Gamma Ray, Kiske's solo work).
The numerous changes of lineup and style between 84 and 93 made the band style very unstable. Cameleon album came to destroy all the work accomplished in the Keepers era. The Deris era is full of cheap songs, it’s another band for me and I’m not surprised that the US public did not support it so much.
Another big problem was that in the Keepers era they became famous so rapidly that their ego was big enough to disrespect Iron Maiden and Metallica declaring that these bands would disappear soon in the beginning of 90’s.
@@dpjb78 I was a hardcore fan in the 80’s and 90’s and dont remember Helloween dissing I.M. ?? I mean, they were/are friends and ‘Ween supported Maiden on several tours.. Adrian and Kai and Kiske have contributed on each other’s solo projects. Kiske has named Dickinson/Maiden a huge early influences many times in interviews. IF they ever said it, it surely would’ve been in jest and taken out of context. To top it all off they were managed by Maiden/Smallwood in the 90’s (though they had a big falling out with Rod later). To be fair though, Metallica *Did* disappear in the 90’s and haven’t been the same since ;-)
@@ryanb6454 I was also a hardcore fan (heavy-metal fan I mean :D) … I read a lot of interviews in specialized magazines. All you say is true but I don’t remember they were laughing when they said that maiden was over and would replace them. I wish I could read this interview again! :) It’s also true that Maiden and Metallica had a hard time in the following decade but for me Helloween did not escape to this fate.
It’s funny to realize that Kiske almost took the artistic direction in post-Hansen albums but just destroyed the band, left it and years later come back in grace in Helloween neighborhood with an aura that a few can pretend. :)
I’ve listened to the single track of the new album and I’m not in extase for that sound that I think I always knew since the beginning of Deris era. Metallica creates something new on each album since Saint Anger and I like that, for me they were back with that LP. :)
About Maiden, I’m not a big fan of their studio sound since Brave New World but I think they reached the goal they aimed as being the Rolling Stones of heavy metal. Helloween can just compete with Scorpions :D ;)
It's happening! It's finally happening!
One of my all time favourite vocal performances
I love it when a plan comes together
Only since it's the recent live version, it's not the same as the all time vocal
performance of the studio album, oh well.

Helloween and Gamma Ray have a special place in my heart, they broke me out of my pure Death Metal phase in the early 00's and introduced me to the wonderful world of Power Metal. So this video along with bonus Elizabeth growl is a instant thumbs up from me, just glorious.
So so glad you mentioned Gamma Ray. Such underrated power metal!
There were three singers of helloween: first kai hansen sang (the founder and solo guitarist, he left helloween and founded gamma ray where he currently sings and is a solo guitarist), secondly kiske, which gave the group world fame, and finally Andy deris arrived, who managed to maintain the quality and progress of the group. The 3 are very great singers and very particular, they are very special voices.

A Symphony X reaction is a must! Russell Allen can melt your face and bring you to tears in the same breath. Kiske is still a wonder after all these years.
Russell is the best vocalist the world has ever had, in my opinion
Russell Allen is probably the best metal singer out there, these days. The dude is the closest we ever got to having another Dio. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of professional videos of Symphony X performing live.
Symphony X was never my thing but I respect them
@@kuhne You can say the band don't make your taste, but it's impossible to deny that Russell Allen isn't a monster in vocal abilities. Check out his work with Star One, a project of progressive metal from the Mastermind Arjen Lucassen, the same behind Ayreon. It's killer in every way
@@mapinguarimonster they are very talented, it was just never a band I got into. Not really my style. But of course they are great.
A 'Keeper of the Seven Keys' reaction it's an insta-like, but a reaction of this song by Elizabeth it's like I need to give a thousands likes
I would love to see a reaction to any Manowar Song. I would really wanna know your opinion about Eric Adams' voice
Or a king diamond song
Yes!
Eric Adams doing Nessum Dorma.
Yes! Nessu Dorma.
I would prefer Kingdom Come, or Battle Hymn
I just realised iv'e been listening to Helloween for 35 years 😮🤘
31 years for me.
@@linusfotograf we are getting old my friend....😉
@@krea_knaegten Yes we are
27 here! We are really getting old hahahaha
Only few months for me but frick it they’re awesome.
Hi Elizabeth, I'm glad that you were able to re-instate this video. I don't remember my original comment from October 2020, but Michael Kiske's vocals were incredible and the band put on an amazing performance. Thank you, Elizabeth, for ALL your hard work, patience, and persistence! You're the BEST!!! 💙
Next time I should read the video description, before I try wrap my head around being convinced Elizabeth already covered this one. Pity it got taken down, but clad I saw it originally. It was a good one. For anyone who didn't see it yet, please enjoy.
I guess I missed it.
Crap I missed the first one never knew it was deleted
Was surprised to see it in my subscription feed again. Didn't know it has been struck. The
I was wondering why she kept saying happy halloween when its May.
Same...I saw Helloween and "ooh!" ...then wondered why she said "next year" when it's only may, then realized I'd seen her do this and read the description.
I would like to recommend two songs:
- Alice In Chains - Would?
- King Diamond - Welcome Home
The lyrics, the melody, Michael's voice...Keeper of the seven keys is a masterpiece!
It’s cool that you have discovered one of my favorite bands and also enjoying it so much. These guys are now making a new album with all the three original singers, Kai Hanssen, Michael Kiske and Andy Derris. But you should check out this ballad with Kiske and Andy. It’s propably one of the best heavy ballads of all time: Forever and One ua-cam.com/video/v5ceqdP9Hbk/v-deo.html
Sonata Arctica - Fullmoon you gonna love tony kakkos voice its really unique
Yes Sonata Arctica...something from For the Sake of Revenge
Sonata have some very good stuff but Tony voice is not at the same league as kiske, dickinson, dio, floor...etc.
@@mishulaksis tony with years go.dawn.
I lived right across the street from Michael Kiske back when we both still were kids, and I can attest to the fact that he's taken more than one page from Geoff Tate's playbook by listening to a lot of Queensryche before catching his big break with Helloween, but hearing him now, his voice has aged so much better.
This Man Plants Himself stronger than Trees can. He is Solid. Perfect platform for projection
I love how you enjoy the music as if you were a kid in a candy store.
That pitch-bend that he has is Kiske's signature .. you cannot mistake his voice simply because of that little detail.. simply love this guy's voice... and it hasn't changed in 30 years... that performance is near perfect to the original record, without all the fancy sound fx they put on the album version.
Kiske has a really wide range, even thoug he is geting old and cant reach the higher notes he can go very low too. His covers of Elvis are awesome.
Kiske is one of the greats. Check Live in the UK, a live record they released in the 80s.
Can you analyse ex vocal UDO Dirkschineder of band called "Accept" He has got a unique and very strong voice. If you look as "UDO" Thank you
I saw Helloween in the 80’s with Anthrax and Exodus at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. Hoping your reaction will jog my memory because I can’t recall them at all.
Saw that tour in Dallas and got to meet Helloween they were nicest bunch of guys you'd ever want to meet, especially given how many asshole musicians I met in the 80's. Plus the Exodus pit was a brutal good time.
Lol no blast beats detected, but hearing you say "blast beats" brought so much joy to my heart!
Hahahahaha. Yup.
Check Gamma Ray too please. it will be worth your while. Mr "eye guitar" over there has a hell of a voice too.
TIM "RIPPER" OWENS with Judas Priest Iced Earth or KK's Priest would be a great one to review
Back then kiske and Dickinson were the 2 strongest voices in metal. This song is the epitomy of prog power metal. It's a fking masterpiece
Kiske, Oliva, Dickinson, Tate and Dio all had great talent and powerful voices.
@FatalPies I’m a huuuge fan of all those guys.. but 30 years later can they still hit the notes like our Kiske ? No. But it isn’t a contest so anyways..
P.S. when I was a teenager I got VIP backstage to Queensryche and spent a few minutes doing cartwheels around the band . I told Geoff to his face that he had the second best voice in metal. He looked at me with a slight curl of his lip and said “well who’s the best then?” Of course I told him Michael Kiske. Chris D and Michael W started to giggle at Geoff who had a pissed off look (fan meet n greets werent his thing anyway). LOL man I had some nerve !
Marc boals, mike vescera, ralph shefers, rob rock, mat leven, jeff scott soto, fabio lione,henning.basse.
Back then? You mean two years ago?
Kiske and Halford.
Kiske kept his vocal power but aged beautifully, smoothing the edges and gaining a lot of chatacter. Fun fact: he is a big Elvis fan.
KISKE/SOMERVILLE "City of Heroes" an absolutely epic tune, well worth a video as it's a duet too so might be a novelty for that alone.
Thrash metal makes you want to pick a fight in a bar. Power metal makes you want to pick a fight with a dragon.
please do more on helloween . one of the most talented singers in the world and their studio hits are timeless. i was introduced to this german band by my japanese mother from hiroshima and it’s incredible how his voice stands the test of time and touches from around the world
Her smile and laugh are very infectious
You should check How many tears form the same show
You Michael Andi and Kai singin
"Keeper of the seven keys" is one of the greatest songs of all time ❤️
I know you probably don't wanna do another Helloween video, but you mentioned a lot about Kiske... Kai and the others do some great singing with high notes, too, so maybe check this out sometime! ua-cam.com/video/gpIc32shXH4/v-deo.html
For those of of you guys that missed it the first time around!
Upvote for a look at the other founders of power metal, Manowar. They'll tick all of Elizabeth's boxes, from fantasy to musicianship... let's say Heart of Steel.
When he recorded His voice he was 18, now hes alot older. Take that in consideration
That's what I like about Kiske, his voice sounds like he's 18, so powerful, with good highs and lows... Omg I love when professional singers hear his voice and notice about these details
Please do something by Manowar sometime, Eric Adams is an epic singer 🙆♀️
I was thinking the same thing.
Blood of the Kings or bust. But skipping the lyrics analysis can be forgotten.
The coolest thing about this perfomance is to see how Kiske is aware that its a very difficult song to sing and therefore he starts singing knowing that he can't use his voice like 30 years ago. But also he knows he has to sing ir like 30 years ago. He uses an increrible techniche and slowly but surely gets confortable with the song, till the moment 8:49 he is able to use his voice ecxatly like in the album version of the song. He is a master singer. Really one of a kind.
