Fun fact: they are the most listened to swiss artist of all time, despite the general public never hearing a song of them. 500 Million plays speaks for itself.
The U.S.music scene is like a giant wet blanket. Grateful to youtube and folks like you who are curious. The best action is in Europe and Japan right now. The mainstream music industry here, including the press, seem determined to keep us stupid.
The best Eluveitie Song imo for that is "The Siege" Yes, there are a shitload of them, but the violin solo, then underlined with the bass/drums is the best instrumental part I couldve ever thought of.
They often sing in Gaulish which is an extinct language. This alone sets them apart from other folk metal bands. Two of my favorite songs by them which have a great video are Inis Mona and The Slumber.
Eluveitie-Havoc Off their album Helvetios The whole album is the story of war between the Gauls and the Romans. I'm a long time fan of these guys and this album is probably my favourite.
You would love their liveshow! Probably the most brutal (still friendly) moshpit ive been in. Especially since it was in switzerland the singer joined the crowd for a song to experience his own band from our perspective.
Honestly the entire Ategnatos album is amazing front to back. And a lot of it ties together through songs. The chorus in this song appears in a couple other songs in different ways.
If you want to hear more of Fabienne Erni (the female vocalist in this lineup) but in a more pop-metal/gothic metal context, I recommend her side-project ILLUMISHADE. Also, the former vocalist Anna Murphy (from the Call of the Mountain era of the band) has a new band called Cellar Darling.
man, your channel randomly popped in my recommended and i'm so glad it did. reaction channels really help me find new music but you make these videos so well and it's obvious you have a very deep understanding of music. keep up the good work man (so i can keep finding new music).
Yeah dude! Glad you enjoyed it. They're all such fantastic musicians. This band combines my two favorite genres of music, traditional Celtic, and metal and I totally understand what you mean about feeling "home." It stirs my ancient Highlander warrior soul. They have so many great songs. "King" "Thousandfold" "Quoth the Raven" "A Rose for Epona" You really can't pick a bad song. Enjoy your folk metal journey!
Former Eluveitie singer (and hurdy-gurdist) Anna Murphy has her own band, Cellar Darling. The video for the acoustic version of Death was filmed in their own homes/local studios during lockdown.
I'd love to see him react to Hullabaloo. she manages to do a hurdy hurdy solo that sounds like a whammy bar on the electric guitar that is amazing live!
Just discovered your channel man, and hearing someone today mentioning Jethro Tull and Ian Anderson is always an instant sub/like and whatnot for me. Really like how you're enjoying all the music you're listening to!
An Eluveitie concert is fucking awesome if you ever get the chance! :) And let's add Switzerland to the world tour list! And if you love folk/pagan/symphonic, you're gonna love Skalmod!
This 'at home' feeling ur describing is actually, what Eluveitie try to accomplish with their music. The singer duo once said in an interview that they try to invoke the feeling of home and being happy about it with their sound. For them its obviously the great mountains and mystical folklore in switzerland, but I feel like it could trigger for anyone. I am swiss myself, so I get exactly what they were going for. Cool to hear someone express the same feelings, especially when theyre not native :)
Nice reaction, always fun with the nerdy instrument facts. Eluveitie is one of the best band I have seen live and I didn't even know who they where when I bought the tickets, they toured with Lacuna Coil and Infected Rain last fall but Eluveitie blew pretty much everything away. Fantastic show. They are definitely a must see band live.
I had never heard this band before seeing them live in a small hall. They blew the roof of the place. That was the old line-up with Mary Murphy on vocals and hurdy-gurdy. This version of the band seems even heavier. Hope they tour the US soon.
Along a similar thread as Eluveitie is one from the band Apocalypse Orchestra - "The Garden of Earthly Delights". It's kind of Gregorian chant medieval music meets metal.
Folkmetal 🇨🇭 from Switzerland🤘👍💪 Eluveitie are great and talented, have already enjoyed a few as live 💥 Cool react 👍the King and Ategnatos are also song grenades 😁🙏💋
Great one \o/ Eluveitie is one of the best unique metal bands of today, they deserve way more attention. Btw you're having a great guitar taste, i have a ESP Eclipse Standard with a ENGL Fireball, such a great guitar.
Looks like I have a new band to check out. I never listened to folk metal much at all besides the folky Nightwish songs... I love this! Thanks to this reaction, I’m gonna go check out their stuff on iTunes. 🤟🏻
I remember being to a pagan fest near the city I live. It's about 12 years ago when they were not that popular. I think it was 25 Euro for a day full of bands. Eluvetie, ensiferum, turisas, koorpiklani, moonsorrow, Tyr and Finntroll I bought a shirt from their slania album and lately saw that they released slania 10 years anniversary. They took the same cover and made the girl adult, she was a child on the original cover. That was a really cool move, I still have that shirt even though it's a bit short around the belly :D
This was very enjoyable in its entirety. Both the song and the reaction! Good job, I can't suggest anything else from them, as I am as new to this as you are Tank.
I have seen them perform live a few times now. They are incredibly good. Best performance I witnessed was at the Turbinenhalle in Oberhausen (Germany), stayed in the pit for the whole concert. \m/ :D
It's not my first time listening to them but it still amazes me with how great "non-traditional" instruments work well in metal. thank for checking them out :D Great reaction as always Also congrats on reaching the 20K goal! one step closer to get matching tattoos with Chase haha
I grew up in the 70s listening to the likes of Steeleye Span. They did everything from a capella Sea shanties to folk/pop-rock cross overs like "700 Elves" Folk and metal works! This rocked!
Another great reaction to another one of my favorite bands :D Love it so much and can't stop watching your videos! Hearing all songs i have somewhere in my playlists again and seeing you enjoying them is somewhat just great :D
Hey! I'm actually here after watching your reaction to The Islander. If you want more folk metal, I recommend a small band from Australia called Valhalore. They are a great cross between Viking and Folk metal. Their songs Solace/Solitude is amazing and very much like The Islander. Legacy is a great heavy song from them with an amazing music video. They definitely deserve more love and you having them come on your channel I think would be awesome for them!
I’ve waited a couple weeks for this. I’m glad you got a chance to watch and even more pleased by the pure enjoyment it brought you. He’ll yeah man! I’ll be waiting for your next upload.
You might like Ensiferum - One more magic potion and again, Saor - Forgotten paths. Atmospheric Scottish black metal with bagpipes. But remember, Poppy >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> the universe.
What's this! I've been on the look out for a Scottish folk metal band for years. I'd almost given up my search thinking that we take our folk folk too seriously to consider mixing it with metal. I'll be right on this. Cheer for the heads up.
Theres an artist known as Patty Gurdy who does alot of hurdy gurdy songs and shes living my dream by being a hurdy gurdy player in a metal band. Patty does a real cool cover of Over the hills (and far away). She's in the next Ayreon album too. How cool is that??!
Scythe would be my recommended launching point. Gives the broadest preview of their overall sound, not too hard, but not all light/major like Heathenreel either.
I've seen them live twice. Once with an older lineup that included Anna Murphy on Hurdy Gurdy and vocals, Merlin on drums and Ivo on guitar, now all in the band Cellar Darling. Also seen them once with current lineup. Awesome show both times. Great Live band. Got to meet the new Hurdy Gurdy player...she is super nice. Was supposed to see them September 25 but covid19 screwed that up. hopefully they come around again sometime. 😁
So I said to my ten year old, "Look how this guy head bangs." He said, "I'm gonna need longer hair." Excellent reaction dude. Needless to say I've loved this song since it came out. Cheers Tank.
Hi Tank! Some may disagree but I consider pirate metal to have elements of folk metal. Prepare to take that hat off to headbang and have way too much fun with the official video of Treasure Chest Party Quest by Alestorm. When I'm having a tough day, Alestorm never fails to improve my mood. By the way, Eleveitie are amazing so really looking forward to your next reaction to them as well. Hurdy Gurdy forever!!!!
Not just the Matteo, but Michalina learned hurdy gurdy after getting into the band and her predesssor Anna Murphy- her you tube covers Channel is what drew them to her as a replacement. Now. Anna Murphy learned the instrument after getting into the early version of the band.....
Isn't the thing about folk music that feeling that somehow you know it? Not in the sense that you heard that song on the radio sometime, but that it's a thing that's been living inside you forever, deep in your soul or your dna and somehow the best bands produce an audible expression of some instinct within you that was there in your ancestors eons ago and brings it into your consciousness. And then you add the energy of metal and it's off the scale.
Fun fact, the primary melody of the song is an Irish song called "I am stretched on your grave" and the whistle solo section uses the Irish song "Lads of Laois"
I love this band, so many interesting songs and sounds to explore. My favourite remains my first song Tegernako, a lot of awesome songs, but this one is my gem, so heavy, so many interesting sounds.
I second that. All the instruments blended rather than each having its own space. It shouldn't work, but the combination just makes it more awesome & heavy. The opening riff accompanied by what I THINK is the hurdy gurdy just wrecks shit every time.
The tank facts are so brilliant =) i didnt know half of what you brought up that is amazing =) "i feel like im at home" i understand you fully, folk metal can do that. But i cant keep it in: you ARE at home atm XD Heilung may get your tribal heart. If you like Folk Metal you might wanna give a shot at In Extremo - Liam, Schandmaul - Sturmnacht, or for just Folk Faun has some good ones too like "Andro" (its a rather old one bit a gold one ^^) And ofc Wardruna has some very good ones too (Bjarkan is a favorite of mine^^ the one sung in a viking ship museum) Wardruna and Heilung also both make music for the vikings TV show and Heilung also made the soundtrack for a video game (Hellblade Senuas Sacrifice) Finally for a more metal heavy folk you should try "Equilibrium - Rise again" that could be for your headbanging needs. That said im not a fan of the vocalist growling i oftne feel like hes ruining the songs by opening his mouth but if you are into deep death metally growls hes your guy^^ Anyway "Rise Again" will make you headbang to a flute. that story alone is worth it XD In the official version they also use gopros to film themselves from their instruments view. bit scary with the singer but gives you a good look at their gear
You could also check out Cellar Darling which is the band of the former singer of Eluveitie! Insomnia, Death, Freeze... many good songs from the newest album.
This band is fuckn amazing. There’s nothing else to say about em. I have a playlist exclusively for Nightwish, Eluveitie (sp?), Delain, Sonata Arctica, Sabaton, Epica, and some Wardruna, Heilung, Danheim, Unleash the Archers, & a few more songs sprinkled in. It’s my go to playlist for almost everything. The title of the playlist is just: 🎧🎧🎧
The only suggestion I can really offer when it comes to this band is literally their whole discography, although the Helvetios album has a special place in my heart. I know exactly what you mean when you talk about symphonic and folk metal. You should totally check out some Tyr (Faroe Islands), Korpiklanni (Finland), and Orphaned Land (Israel). Those are some really different sounds but I think you'd love them all.
Maybe some "folk/medieval"- (mittelalter) rock/metal from Germany like in Extremo (it is in German). I recommend "Troja" or "Störtebecker" but my best recommend is "Frei zu sein"... In Extremo is one of the granddaddys of medival-rock in germany. Sry for my bad English Cheers from Bavaria
Imagine piloting a big rig down a fun section of I-15 in Utah at the 80 MPH speed limit with this cranked up 😁 Good times 😉 Thanks for featuring one of my favorite songs from this amazing group and for the fantastic reaction! You've gotta love a couple of distorted electric guitars harmonizing with a hurdy gurdy in a song featuring a harp, violin, mandolin, and whistles LOL 😆 A few of my favorites and recommendations would be A Rose for Epona (lyric video as it explains the background and idea of the song), Ambreamus, Breathe, and The Slumber 👍 Have a fantastic night 😎
The Hurdy Gurdy is such an interesting instrument. I've been fascinated by it since I first heard it on some punk/alternative thing 30 years or so ago. You could also check out Cellar Darling, Stormseeker, Patty Gurdy (who used to be in Stormseeker and recently did some with Alestorm and is playing on the next Aryeon album, "Transitus")...crap, I feel like I missing at least one more band that uses a hurdy gurdy.
Hell yeah. Family comes from Switzerland. So I like it already. But that was a fun listen. Definitely going to listen to more. I really enjoy when a band uses classical instruments or regional instruments. It really adds that special flair that can't be had from just regular rock gear.
A reaction to "rose for Epona" should be in place somewhere in the near future. The whole album "Helvetius" is basicially the "bello gallico" from the viewpoint of the helvetian
I was trying to think of the ones that were good and had good videos. Didn’t know if Death of a King had a video or not. I do think some of their better songs don’t have videos though.
Its so good to listen to and to see how much fun you've got reacting to Eluveitie and others like Wintersun, Nightwish,...! :) I'm just new on your channel so you've might reacting to some of these already but i'll mention some of my favourites and i think you'll like them a lot. So here we are: Insomnium - While we sleep Wolfheart - The Hammer Moonsorrow - Kylään Päässä (Live at Tuska Open Air 2003) Ensiferum - From Afar and some more not just from Finland: Saor - Forgotten Paths Aephanemer - Bloodline Månegarm - Hervors Arv Watain - Waters of Ain Amon Amarth - Death in Fire ...and a lot more Keep on going, stay safe! Greeting from Germany
I know im almost one year late but... Michalina from Poland (hurdy-gurdy player) started to learn playing this instrument after she heard it in eluveitie. Long story short: band contacted her after seeing her performance and now she is playing in band that was her inspiration to start playing and she has her own hurdy-gurdy shop. Tell me what you want but for me its fking imprsssing.
I had the same king of experience recently with symphonic metal. Here is my take away on why this appeals so much to me. I was introduced to hard rock by a friend at the beginning of the 80s with AC/DC, then in the mid-80s my cousin introduced me to Metallica and I was a metalhead for life, but as Metal went down the heavier and less melodic route starting with Slayer, then Death & Black Metal, I could not follow, so I stayed with my classic metal up to the Trash era. But recently I got introduced to Nightwish and everything clicked, this was the evolution of the complex compositions, time signatures & key changes, the Metallica of S&M, but with the orchestrations builtin and interwoven with the Metal sound from inception, so everything I like about Metallica, but just taken to the next level. So basically to me Symphonic Metal takes the aggression I love from Metal and makes a perfect marriage with the melodic charm of a full symphonic orchestra & choir, the best of both worlds.
Is that a little Trollhammaren in the background? :D Absolutely loving all your vids Tank! From Sabaton to Nightwish to this, your enjoyment and truthful emotional reactions are priceless! All the best!
Alesia, A rose for Epona and my favorite The Siege are great songs by them if you want to listen more from this band. I was supposed to see them live this fall, but with covid, I guess I'll have to wait.
Had the opportunity to see them live last year, you really should try some live acts! It‘s one hell of a rollercoaster ride 😃 Great vid again! Chase and you are really the only reaction channels I can watch on a regular basis 👍🏻
Quite possibly the weirdest sound check I've ever heard. We gave up trying to name instruments after the bagpipes! Their live sound person must be a magician!
The entire Ategnatos album is excellent. Check out the title track from the album as well. Also, you should check out Cellar Darling "Insomnium." Former Hurdy-Gurdist and vocalist of Eluveitie started that band. Much more progressive feel with a hurdy-gurdy.
Before you listen to that, give scottish Piper Calum Stewart's Am Monadh ruradh a listen. Like all good folk bands, eluvite recycle the theme from that tune into Ategnatos. ua-cam.com/video/zAv_ZkmVJus/v-deo.html And fifthed.
Fun fact: they are the most listened to swiss artist of all time, despite the general public never hearing a song of them. 500 Million plays speaks for itself.
Damn!
What's cool about Eluveitie is that the "metal" part of the folk metal, is very much based on melodic death metal. Very cool blend of genres
The U.S.music scene is like a giant wet blanket. Grateful to youtube and folks like you who are curious. The best action is in Europe and Japan right now. The mainstream music industry here, including the press, seem determined to keep us stupid.
The lamestream in Europe is just as hell bent on keeping us stupid, too, but they haven't been as successful yet... 🤡🌍😉
There are some awesome American bands out there right now but they aren't super well known in the metal scene by any means.
A most creative way of playing the Hurdy-Gurdy there in that break-down. Like a super fast guitar riff.
Bands like this, Nightwish, Epica and so on is what happens when there is an emphasis on music and arts...pay attention US
You got that right!!!!
And HISTORY too.
Started listening to them around... 2 years ago I think? And you don’t have to tell me twice 😂😂 I’m definitely trying to 😂
The best Eluveitie Song imo for that is "The Siege"
Yes, there are a shitload of them, but the violin solo, then underlined with the bass/drums is the best instrumental part I couldve ever thought of.
They often sing in Gaulish which is an extinct language. This alone sets them apart from other folk metal bands. Two of my favorite songs by them which have a great video are Inis Mona and The Slumber.
I understand completely.
Folk metal (starting with hearing Finntroll for the first time when I was 40) literally changed my life.
"I feel like I'm at home" - you're right, folk melodies are playing in our blood and bones if you know what I mean. It's primal. It's instinctive.
Eluveitie- King
King is my top favourite, especially solos
Eluveitie-Havoc
Off their album Helvetios
The whole album is the story of war between the Gauls and the Romans.
I'm a long time fan of these guys and this album is probably my favourite.
Well, it became one of my favorite song ever since your review 😆 so thanks !
You would love their liveshow! Probably the most brutal (still friendly) moshpit ive been in. Especially since it was in switzerland the singer joined the crowd for a song to experience his own band from our perspective.

Anna Murphy was also the former Hurdy Gurdy Player of Eluveitie. So - if you want to hear more Hurdy Gurdy... ;)
U have to listen to cellar darling! Maybe the song insomnia! There is a great hurdy gurdy solo part, played by Anna!
Have fun!
Cellar Darling blew me away live twice, it's a shame they are not better known yet...
Thanks for sharing this reaction. I have never heard of this band before and love it. Thanks again for the introduction to this band🤘
man, your channel randomly popped in my recommended and i'm so glad it did. reaction channels really help me find new music but you make these videos so well and it's obvious you have a very deep understanding of music. keep up the good work man (so i can keep finding new music).
Thank you so much! I appreciate it!
Now I can scratch "Witness Hurdy-Gurdy metal" off the old bucket list. I loved this
These guys live are amazing. They toured with gone in April. Great show in Portland
Great reaction!!! glad you finally listened to us hahaha., The Hurdy Gurdy in my opinion is the coolest instrument in Metal ;)

And let's add Switzerland to the world tour list!
And if you love folk/pagan/symphonic, you're gonna love Skalmod!
I saw Eluveitie live last year and it was phenomenal. You could hear every instrument clearly and they were crazy tight
Also check out Cellar Darling, all 3 of the members were formerly in Eluveite. And yes they use a hurdy gurdy 😀
This song was my introduction to this band and I mean...how can you not fall in love at first listen?
OMG! That’s all I’m gonna say! Holy shit, that was amazing! Keep rockin’ it out! 🤘🏻
This 'at home' feeling ur describing is actually, what Eluveitie try to accomplish with their music. 2023 tour! My towns in March!
Along a similar thread as Eluveitie is one from the band Apocalypse Orchestra - "The Garden of Earthly Delights". It's kind of Gregorian chant medieval music meets metal.
Folkmetal 🇨🇭 from Switzerland🤘👍💪
Eluveitie are great and talented, have already enjoyed a few as live 💥
Cool react 👍the King and Ategnatos are also song grenades 😁🙏💋
I really love Eluveitie they have so many great songs, Omnos, Everything Remains as it Never Was, Call of the Mountains, and so many more :D
Yessss Eluveitie!!!!! Love them so much!!! My favorite band besides Epica!!! Fabienne is such a great talented singer, love her!!
Great one \o/ Eluveitie is one of the best unique metal bands of today, they deserve way more attention. Btw you're having a great guitar taste, i have a ESP Eclipse Standard with a ENGL Fireball, such a great guitar.
More Eluveitie: Celtos, From Darkness, The Slumber, Quoth The Raven, Helvetios, Alesia, Inis Mona
...and Ategnatos
Worship, King, Thousandfold, Epona,
Tarvos is really good too!
Slanias song
Looks like I have a new band to check out. I never listened to folk metal much at all besides the folky Nightwish songs... I love this! Thanks to this reaction, I’m gonna go check out their stuff on iTunes. 🤟🏻
Eluveitie is so damn good. Enjoy!

Haha. Thanks a ton! 🤘
God that chorus...I looooove any time metal bands layer clean vocals over screams
I grew up in the 70s listening to the likes of Steeleye Span. They did everything from a capella Sea shanties to folk/pop-rock cross overs like "700 Elves"
Folk and metal works! This rocked!
Another great reaction to another one of my favorite bands :D
Love it so much and can't stop watching your videos!

Hey! I'm actually here after watching your reaction to The Islander. If you want more folk metal, I recommend a small band from Australia called Valhalore. If he's after the band Storm Seeker The longing is a good starting place. I actually prefer her solo version though.
Love Patty Gurdy! She is the second person I've seen play a hurdy Gurdy. The first was Ritchie Blackmore.
If you're liking folk metal, you should check out Elvenking! The Scythe, Elvenlegions, or Pagan Revolution are all great
Scythe would be my recommended launching point. Gives the broadest preview of their overall sound, not too hard, but not all light/major like Heathenreel either.
The Wanderer!
Hell yeah! Now if you want more, I suggest King. Also, Ambiramus, if you want to hear a slightly different and more melodic sound from them.
I've seen them live twice. Once with an older lineup that included Anna Murphy on Hurdy Gurdy and vocals, Merlin on drums and Ivo on guitar, now all in the band Cellar Darling. So I said to my ten year old, "Look how this guy head bangs." He said, "I'm gonna need longer hair." Excellent reaction dude. Needless to say I've loved this song since it came out. Cheers Tank.
Nice! Thank you so much!
While folk or symphonic metal is not really my cup of tea, having a flute (or whistle?) solo in the midst of this sound is pretty awesome
Just saw them live with Dark Tranquillity and Amorphis. It was amazing and I had to come back to this as Rebirth is stuck in my head ever since.
Hi Tank!
Some may disagree but I consider pirate metal to have elements of folk metal. Prepare to take that hat off to headbang and have way too much fun with the official video of Treasure Chest Party Quest by Alestorm. When I'm having a tough day, Alestorm never fails to improve my mood.

Alestorm has to happen. Also, their latest album has a bunch of songs with Patti Gurdy!
@@sugoruyo Patti needs to happen anyways ;)
oh fuck yes
Uis Elveti (re-recorded version) is my favorite Eluveitie song... It's the song that first got me into them.
Not just the Matteo, but Michalina learned hurdy gurdy after getting into the band and her predesssor Anna Murphy- her you tube covers Channel is what drew them to her as a replacement.
Now. Anna Murphy learned the instrument after getting into the early version of the band.....
Fabianne’s voice is perfection

Calling the rain is one of their top 3 awesome songs
The tank facts are so brilliant =) i didnt know half of what you brought up that is amazing =)
"i feel like im at home" i understand you fully, folk metal can do that. But i cant keep it in: you ARE at home atm XD
Heilung may get your tribal heart.
If you like Folk Metal you might wanna give a shot at In Extremo - Liam, Schandmaul - Sturmnacht, or for just Folk Faun has some good ones too like "Andro" (its a rather old one bit a gold one ^^) And ofc Wardruna has some very good ones too (Bjarkan is a favorite of mine^^ the one sung in a viking ship museum) Wardruna and Heilung also both make music for the vikings TV show and Heilung also made the soundtrack for a video game (Hellblade Senuas Sacrifice)
Finally for a more metal heavy folk you should try "Equilibrium - Rise again" that could be for your headbanging needs. That said im not a fan of the vocalist growling i oftne feel like hes ruining the songs by opening his mouth but if you are into deep death metally growls hes your guy^^ Anyway "Rise Again" will make you headbang to a flute. that story alone is worth it XD
In the official version they also use gopros to film themselves from their instruments view. bit scary with the singer but gives you a good look at their gear
YES Tyr! Sinklars Visa
live is simply *chefs kiss*
One of my favorite bands ever. Saw them live a little over a year ago, freaking awesome.
Sry for my bad English
Cheers from Bavaria
First time listening to Eluveite for me... gonna have to do some downloads now!
Definitely one I've been waiting to see you do. XD And some impressive gear knowledge on this one too.
You should also try Cellar Darling. Their previous singer with drummer (maybe some more members) have moved to that band.
if i remember correctly, the former guitarist ivo went wo cellar darling aswell. but i could be mistaken
@@Metkeks you are not mistaken
@@canyonfiller good to know ;)
Still one of my favorites keep it up man
Imagine piloting a big rig down a fun section of I-15 in Utah at the 80 MPH speed limit with this cranked up 😁 Good times 😉
Thanks for featuring one of my favorite songs from this amazing group and for the fantastic reaction! You've gotta love a couple of distorted electric guitars harmonizing with a hurdy gurdy in a song featuring a harp, violin, mandolin, and whistles LOL 😆
A few of my favorites and recommendations would be A Rose for Epona (lyric video as it explains the background and idea of the song), Ambreamus, Breathe, and The Slumber 👍
Have a fantastic night 😎
🤘🤘🤘
The Hurdy Gurdy is such an interesting instrument. I've been fascinated by it since I first heard it on some punk/alternative thing 30 years or so ago. You could also check out Cellar Darling, Stormseeker, Patty Gurdy (who used to be in Stormseeker and recently did some with Alestorm and is playing on the next Aryeon album, "Transitus")...crap, I feel like I missing at least one more band that uses a hurdy gurdy.
THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!!! I cannot wait for your reaction to BAND-MAID FREEDOM!!!!
Hell yeah. Family comes from Switzerland. So I like it already. But that was a fun listen. Definitely going to listen to more. I really enjoy when a band uses classical instruments or regional instruments. It really adds that special flair that can't be had from just regular rock gear.
Totally agree. Folk Metal is so good at incorporate such awesome traditional instruments into the music to give it it's own unique sound.
Yes! The rewind after a pause! The evolution continues! #let'sgo
I'm learning! Hahaha
Space Of Variations - TIBET. Smaller band I saw live in January touring with Jinjer. Lowkey fan of them since.
A reaction to "rose for Epona" should be in place somewhere in the near future. The whole album "Helvetius" is basicially the "bello gallico" from the viewpoint of the helvetian
Please react to Amorphis. Any song is great. Try “Wrong Direction”, “Amongst Stars”, “Silver Bride”, or “The Smoke”
Death Of A King is a better option in my opinion.
The Bee is a great starting point. I love Amongst Stars, but I guess its better to listen to that one a couple of songs in.
I'm just new on your channel so you've might reacting to some of these already but i'll mention some of my favourites and i think you'll like them a lot. So here we are:
Insomnium - While we sleep
Wolfheart - The Hammer
Moonsorrow - Kylään Päässä (Live at Tuska Open Air 2003)
Ensiferum - From Afar
and some more not just from Finland:
Saor - Forgotten Paths
Aephanemer - Bloodline
Månegarm - Hervors Arv
Watain - Waters of Ain
Amon Amarth - Death in Fire
...and a lot more
Keep on going, stay safe!
Eluvietie - Worship you will love it
I've been fan of Eluveitie for a long time, and this is my favorite song.
Now you need to check out Wagakki Band. Japanese rock version of Eluviete, with some traditional Japanese instruments.
Odin by Faun. They use many medieval instruments, including a Hurdy-gurdy.
Absolutely loving all your vids Tank! From Sabaton to Nightwish to this, your enjoyment and truthful emotional reactions are priceless! All the best!
Thanks a ton! And yeah, I like to use a little Finntroll now and again. 😎
Thanks a ton, man!
Quite possibly the weirdest sound check I've ever heard. We gave up trying to name instruments after the bagpipes! Their live sound person must be a magician!
Europe is pretty wonderful place to be as a music fan :) You have barely scratched the surface
The entire Ategnatos album is excellent. Check out the title track from the album as well. Also, you should check out Cellar Darling "Insomnium." Former Hurdy-Gurdist and vocalist of Eluveitie started that band. Much more progressive feel with a hurdy-gurdy.
Definitely check out Ategnatos by them next. It's a banger 🔥
Second this one.
Third this one 😁
Fourth!
Before you listen to that, give scottish Piper Calum Stewart's Am Monadh ruradh a listen. Like all good folk bands, eluvite recycle the theme from that tune into Ategnatos. ua-cam.com/video/zAv_ZkmVJus/v-deo.html
And fifthed.
They apocalypse orchestra. They use the bagpipes and hurdy gurdy as well. The garden of earthly delights. Great song
Try not they oops
