  • Buzz drags another classic radio out of the storage closet. It's a Freeplay Self-Powered radio, from the mid-90's. This radio was invented by Englishman, Trevor Baylis, specifically for the rural areas of Africa and India, where electric power was not available. Check out this unique piece of technology, a great piece of kit for any prepper.

I picked up on at goodwill as well for 4.99. It looked brand new and as a preper. I was excited but the hand crank didn't work. Spun super fast and loud. I was bummed. I took the 4 screws out "just to look" I had no clue.. I just wanted to fix it. It was only the belt was off. It looked clean with no cracks and put it back on and together. It works like a charm! I'm just looking now at the specks on UA-cam and found you. So all that being said. Thanks for the information 👍 Stay blessed.

Wow! It even plays a late 80s song the first time you crank it up. Welcome to the jungle, baby!
BTW, I count 15 cells in that pv panel, likely in series, for a total of around 7.5V loaded. (Probably a little under a Watt.)
