Five years later now, what has your experience with this antenna been? I just ordered one (arrived minutes ago, still need to assemble).
no fuses at the battery? bad news there!
you mounted it on the door, who does that?
How far into the 6M ham band will these radios tune? And can that easily be extended perhaps? Great video. I saw one of these at a swap meet recently and I am already regretting passing on it, such a neat piece. 73
Hello I was wondering of you can pont me a dirección I just gat a D&R webstation and I downloaded the 3 programa but the control programa don't work I was wondering if can help me out
I have just bought this antenna it's approximately 135 foot in the air and the swr was absolutely outstanding spoke to a few local stations and the antenna is working very well I highly recommend this antenna it is very strong as it does get very windy where I live as I am so high
Screens go out
Hi~~~~ Can I use it for the ic-7300 right away? Do I need to change the wiring connection?
"Danny Boy" by Ray Price was my "dump tape'. It was 6 minutes long... long enough to do my business!
My Dad gave me his radio equipment a year before he died 3 years ago. One of the items was this frequency counter. I used it today for the first time. It didn't have the antenna in the box, but in June I grabbed a couple of BNC antennas off of my Dad's desk. Today I used one of these antennas, and from your video I can see that the antenna that I used is the one that originally came with this frequency counter. I'd rather have my Dad back though than to have his things. Jesus come soon.
Interesting. I have an Icom IC-730 rig, with a IC HM-7 mic. Even with the mic gain all the way up , I have to shout to get decent power on SSB. Note that I have no way to monitor my output. The lone electrolytic cap on the HM-7 board maybe the cause, but, I'm not sure.
What size center mast do you need?
By size, do you mean height or diameter?
I have one. A little drifty, but pretty sebsitive.
Breaker 1-9
What is the automation you are using?
Playout One
Great machine, great presentation!
I know this is an older video. I'm running an online station using the Webstation and PlayoutONE. However, I'm not using the Webstation to it's fullest potential and would like to get some information from you if possible. Please let me know. Thank you.
Hi Ken, how is your online station going, I'm just about starting mine, any advice for your brother
I have a Export cb radio that has been put on cb band and we talk on lower channels like 26.855 and that is c band i dont believe this anntanna wud be right for me .. maybe just going to go with the A99
This antenna would be ideal for you. It is very broadbanded. I have talked to Germany on the 10m band, with 100 watts.
Irritating voice
I'm surprised that your LED display has not failed you yet. Many of use just out of warranty has gone blacked out and Uniden won't do anything.
Buss, do you think this antenna would need to be shortened to operate on the 10 meter band for ham use?
No, I use it for 10m and it works great. I work Europe and South America regularly with it.
Hola como estas, tienes algunos preset para fm 75 us, que puedas compartir? no encuentro preset y no soy bueno haciendo los mios 😁gracias
May I ask if eton FR1000 could receive frequency between 108~137mhz?
Just bought my 2nd one but can’t tune any better than 1:4. My other antenna I tuned to 1:1.
It's roughly been 4 years since this video. How's the Sirio Starduster M 400 holding up? I'm currently using a 32 year old Antron 99 for my base.
It has been a real workhorse and held up in high winds. I love it.
Is there a way you can program frequencies on this radio or are you stuck on the ones the channels are set at?
stuck
No, you can't program any channels outside the CB band, without modifications.
Nice pointer
Now if someone would make a video showing me how to properly wire in a switch for the fan so it doesn't stay on all of the time... 73 de KF4LBG
Great review ! Do you think i could make it work with an IC7600 which uses a RJ45 connector??
Maybe if you could find a cross reference chart for wiring. I'm not sure about impedance mismatches.
Thanks a lot for this review! How does it ship, folded in a circle or in a long package?
What's the best height to run this antenna
What's the gain on it
Wow! It even plays a late 80s song the first time you crank it up. Welcome to the jungle, baby! BTW, I count 15 cells in that pv panel, likely in series, for a total of around 7.5V loaded. (Probably a little under a Watt.)
V111 has a 4th band - LW (long wave). Not in the instructions, but the MW button toggles to LW with a 2nd press. Of course, LW is a deserted band in many markets. The other feature that's a pleasant surprise on the V111 is auto search and store - automatically populates the 20 memories on any of the bands! Long press the Memory button on any band! In some respects, the V111 is like a poor man's Tecsun PL606. I have both, and the performance of the V111 is pretty near to the Tecsun. The appearance is pretty similar too... In some markets the V111 is sold as the CS106. So if you want to see more reviews of it just search UA-cam for CS106.
Michael Dixon and Reginald Buckingham on KRDS! I also remember a woman named Mary, I think, who had a bit of a show at one time on KRDS. Love these stories! I always loved radio and at one point wanted to get into it professionally - but life swept me away in a different direction. The sixties and seventies (and even into the eighties) really were the golden age of radio. My fascination started as a kid with WLS and WCFL (and WGN for talk) in Chicago. In high school, we moved to Phoenix - so naturally I listened to KRUX, KRIZ, and - for talk - KRDS. Talk radio allowed for callers back then, and callers were actually free to express different opinions with civilized, intelligent hosts - just as, to a certain extent, d.j.'s were at least somewhat free to play a variety of music if management would let them. Of course, later the removal of the Fairness Doctrine and ownership restrictions ensured the transferrence of "public airwaves" to huge mega-corporations. Bye-bye Golden Age. The first thing that disappeared, it seems, was audience participation. In this new American radio/tv landscape, the mega-corporation would dictate what the audience could hear or not hear - and the audience was basically told to shut-up and listen to corporate management's narrative (this is now nowhere more evident than with KTAR). With that, the entire informative and educational vocation of talk radio was forever killed. Music, too, became generic and bland. No more socially conscious songs (like "For What It's Worth") were played. Such a shame. Old codgers like me remember the glory days of radio, but younger people will never know what it once was. Now music radio is really just background music and and talk radio is just endless ranting by one or two hosts pushing the owners' political and ideological agenda. Popular music has morphed into modern-day elevator music. No longer enjoyable for its entertaining personalities, innovative music, and information - radio now serves no purpose at all other than to aggravate.
You talk to much, how do I configure the radio, so it doesn't Squirrel on other people's radios when I talk
Thanx Buzz. I just got mine. I have a furious learning curve to climb. So darn cornfusing! There’s a lot of stuff there to figure out.. Their flyover of some basic issues is disappointing. Little(?) things, like just simply how to crack the unit apart, front and back. How to create settings such that the display factors are optimized. Or- for example, what do the various display colors indicate on the rhomboid of the screen? What does the rhomboid represent and how does one adjust it. Things such as these! Thanks Buzz 🐝 George KK7MCE
muito legal! Parabéns
You say the IC-SM5 mic will work with the IC-7300 without any mods. Does the IC-7300 supply the DC voltage required by the pre-amp in the IC-SM5 on pin 1 of the connector?
hi, any experience overhauling the motor bearing on these ITC decks?
It's been so long ago that I used them, but I don't recall that ever being an issue. We kept them very clean and usually the only maintenance issues were with head alignment and worn out pinch rollers.
Push the valumn knob In and out for headphone use
Question from a dumby, LOL... Why did they call them VHF if they were in the 45-50 MHz range? or did the term VHF get bumped up as higher frequencies came about?
VHF band is 30-300Mhz.
@@Airwaves-Radio Thank you! I'm learning :D I appreciate it .
Fun times... Reminds me of some of the crappy radio jobs of my youth.
Wouldnt your SWR Meter work just from the radio side, no need to connect to the antenna side right? The 1700c switch is allowing the RF through. The meter I suspect is designed for pass through? I may be wrong, probably am but wanted to be sure :)
Anything is better then a radio shack antenna. 1 db gain tho isn't worth that money. You should of bought a real antenna, like a Wilson.
I take it may have been basically a Hallicrafters S-120 clone that were prevalent in the 60's into the early 70's from a variety of manufacturers, more or less a entry level SWL single conversion superhet covering 540 kHz - 30 MHz general coverage in four bands......
Is 1 inch PVC too narrow to use?
Hi Buzz. Would it be possible to list the equipment? I have a desktop running Sam Broadcaster with a Berringer mixer. Still trying to tweakbit before going live. Thanks.
just what I think is wrong, it's sirio not being like Santiago who could open and reinforce
12m?
