35 Whelen - CVA Scout V2 at the range

I recently picked up a CVA Scout chambered in 35 Whelen and grabbed three boxes of factory ammo. Barnes TTSX 180 grain.. Hornady Super Formance 200 grain.. and Remington 200 grain..
I put 11 rounds through the barrel.. two shots to sight it in at 50 yards and moved it to 100 yards to see which brand shot the best!
At any rate.. I'll be reloading for the 35 Whelen next month.. once I get 50 empty cases :)

@@blackie1of4 I never had one, listened to the complaints of seating bullets excessively deep for action legnth and went straight to Whelen back in '85. About 2000 I picked up a 358 Norma Magnum as my "Big Lady" 250's at almost 2900 fps gets the job done!!!
@@cw2a I never had an issue with mine.. I used 225 Nosler Partition bullets. It was my dedicated black bear rifle.. I did harvest a big bodied five point with it.
That buck is to this day the widest spread deer that I've harvested. It was 19 and 1/2 inches inside!!!
It was bigger than my brothers 10 point.. that he shot on the same day.
@@blackie1of4 The 35's sure lay down the animals. I have taken deer and bear with 243,264, 284, 308, 323, 358, 400, 410, 452, 458 & 500. After 300 they jut seem ta die quicker.

I prefer 35 calibers for hunting.. I don't have a lot of rifle.. but four are 35's ❤️
Very nice buddy. 👌. Hard beat the big 35s . Being a single shot in 35 Whelen you can load any all popular 35s.
I got older 35rem vido on my channel gun work progress for me bc first 35rem was my wifes uncle . I got his 30-06 pump also propves self be a extreme accrute rifle hammer deer this last pa rifle hunt.

I still have to get a 35 Remington.. I believe Ruger/Marlin will produce one shortly after the stainless 336 30-30 Winchester start hitting the shelf's next month!

I want this gun but every time i try to look it up it pulls up the stainless version how do i get the camouflage cerekote version

You probably could buy one and have it transferred to your local FFL ..

What did it shoot best out of the 3?
I’m in the process of finding a load as well.
The Barnes and Remington were about the same.. an inch and a half.. the superformance was slightly bigger.
None were terrible!
That being said.. I believe every rifle deserves sixty rounds through it before you get the accuracy of it 😊
Plus.. from what I've read.. the Barnes all cooper bullets need to be shot from a clean barrel. No cooper alloy prior for best results!
I'll most likely try the TSX 200 grain bullets here soon.. but I picked up some Hornady 200 grain to try as well ( reloading. )

I posted a recent video that I shot a .362 inch group 😮
I hand loaded some ammo today.. and got a .56 inch group with one of the tested loads 😮
I can honestly say .. the rifle is shooting better than in this video! Like I said before.. you need to put at least sixty rounds down the barrel.. before it will show what it's capable of 😊
Great to hear. I ordered some 180 and 200gr ttsx to see what mine liked better. Its funny you say the more you throw down the pipe because at first the hornadys were shit but I did see improvements (feel free to ask for more details)
I’m new to the 35 whelen game, I’ve shot hornady, Winchester, Remington, federal blue (mind-you) but I am excited to give it a whirl out here in Ontario.
Pain in the ass with trudumb regs to get anything for us law abiding citizens so It leaves a guy to outsource to love of the online community.
I’m done a lot of reading and everyone says 225’s is the golden ticket, but it’s generally a none bonded bullet, and I like to keep as much meat waste down as much as possible, considering how much hp is behind these .35’s.
@@sluggun94 you're definitely on the right path.. the ttsx bullets are probably the best bullet for the 35 Whelen.. in my opinion
The standard thought about weight is 225.. but with all copper bullets.. the 180-200 grains are the same size! So.. using those.. you want to go a little lighter!
