One of my favorite GA airplanes. Beautiful, and well done. I love that there are pilot owners who want to preserve these classic beauties. I owned a 180HP Globe Swift for seven years. It was a challenge keeping it airworthy, and it was a much better plane when I sold it than when I purchased it.
@@hiebertaviation Your welcome!!!! Learned a lot watching the video's!!!!! Plane looks awesome!!!! You should be very proud of what you've done. You saved a plane and now its a flying piece of art history!!!! Well done!!!!!!!
Mr. Hiebert, I have owned C-120 N72273 since 1985, just a few airplanes up the line from yours. After 1800 hours by me, like yours it has been in storage since about 2002. And, like yours, it needs full restoration. Also it was the same Cessna red/maroon. It will take me longer to finish than you, but it will get done. See you at OSH in five months!
@@hiebertaviation The 140B had an aluminum wing instead of fabric, and a single strut on each side instead of the 2 smaller ones. As I recall it was built in 1947 or 1948
I think you mean the C90 powered 140A which was introduced in 1949 and discontinued, along with the rest of the 140’s, in 1950. There is a 170B but not a 140B.
Congratulations on a successful first flight on that C-140 which you have masterfully restored! I went through the same on my 47 C-120 two years ago and I love it! My C-120 has some hail damage on the tail section but otherwise looks a little like yours. 🎉
What did you use to get that aluminum so shiny? In the 60s we used Never-Dull but it took our arms and shoulders off after a full weekend of work. Absolutely beautiful.
Beautiful bird! Say how far is your roll out to take off and land. I own 10 acres in Kentucky and I’m hoping to own one like yours soon. I’m a private pilot and I’ve finally fulfilled one of my dreams, I have the place now I need the plane. Anyway cool video and congratulations. I’m jealous. 😆🤘
I would say with zero wind, on grass, loaded to full gross weight, and hot/humid Kansas air, take off is about 1000’. In the winter with a 20 mph head wind and loaded light, I can get off the ground in less than 400’. Landing all depends on headwind and skill level.
Sure can. I used two of these clamps to attach to the struts: www.amazon.com/Bracket-Monitor-Umbrella-Motorcycle-Insta360/dp/B0B28XBS32?pd_rd_w=GZep3&content-id=amzn1.sym.c15e5526-d433-4ac0-a393-a3f3f7218fab&pf_rd_p=c15e5526-d433-4ac0-a393-a3f3f7218fab&pf_rd_r=FJJRBPA3S3KTEEHWM7KR&pd_rd_wg=aIzZa&pd_rd_r=d21e0a0b-3600-46bd-8577-7ed12b9466d6&pd_rd_i=B0B28XBS32&psc=1&ref_=pd_bap_d_grid_rp_0_1_ec_t And a pole similar to this: www.amazon.com/TELESIN-Extendable-Lengths-Lightweight-Monopod/dp/B08PF7DQ7B/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=19L15JQC50KTT&keywords=gopro+selfie+stick+long&qid=1686278749&sprefix=gopro+selfie+%2Caps%2C212&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyS1VMVkc0SzZWUzBUJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNDUyODU4MTFPUVQ2MVhSVk1CNiZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNzgwMDMwMzhGVjc2SkFVUDdDRiZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=

How long is that landing strip you are taking off from? Thank you!
1300’.
