  • Terri and I went out and flew her 1946 Cessna 140. Lots of fun and good conversation. Terri has owned her 140 for 25 years and it has been a part of the family. My Vlogs are about my travels and my flying of different aircraft and mostly about barnstorming aircraft and events. Joy the fun to live the dream.

This is the second time i've watched this video... it's pulling to restore my 140 89450. I flew the 140 about 500 hrs. since purchase in 1979. A truly great airplane..

I also started flying with model airplanes. I could not afford to fly yet, the babies were being born and just bought my first house. Saved up and received my pilots license in 1994. my first airplane was a 1965 cessna skylane. I currently fly a 1980 Bellanca Super Decathelon. My dad need a hanger for his P210. The hanger owner would only sell the hanger if he bought the airplane in it. Wings were on the walls, fuselage was ok, engine was on the floor. Dad review the log books and found that it was the Cessna 1946 Cessna 140 he soloed in at Van nuys airport in 1956. Dad resored the 140 and has flown it recently. Dad is 81 years young. I will make sure the 140 stays in the family. 85 HP is a kick for me to fly, a bit different then the Decathelon. I loved your video. Dave

Flew my 140 out of Livermore Airport for 5 years. I loved getting up early in the morning and watching the fog roll out over the Golden Gate. The plane almost flies itself...thanks for a great video!

Did this 140 come from Lakefield/Celina?
I was an airport brat in the 80’s and this plane looks very familiar. If it is, it belonged to the airport manager/mechanic there.
I’m now a pilot outside Toledo (Pietenpol) and so thankful to have grown up at the airport. Seeing this 140 brings back a flood of childhood memories.
My dad and I would fly to Fort Recovery to a little farm strip with a red Tcraft, Woody Pusher, and a Spitfire project.
Love the vids, Dewey! Flying by the lake and the islands is great, but my favorite aviation area is the New Carlisle, Urbana, Mad River area… with the occasional excursion to Cub Heaven (Waynesville).

What a nice lady and a nice aeroplane, they are so well suited together, its lovely to hear stories like this of long term aeroplane relationships and the pure flying pleasure these basic machines are still giving, thank you Dewey for another fine video filmed in such lovely countryside.

Dewey I love the lived in patina in that cockpit, years of flying produces such special wear,I like lived in aeroplanes ! and this beautiful early Cessna is no exception, aviation is about people as well as the airplanes they fly and this is what makes the aviation community so special in many ways and you have that special knack of blending both together.

Dewey Davenport thanks. My youngest son and I just bought a '73 Cessna 150L and had an A&P go through it and is currently taking flight lessons. I own land in three areas and have considered putting in a grass strip and a metal hangar for him. Thanks for replying.

No problem Tim. Feel free to contact me if you have questions. A 150 would definitely need more runway then my champ and New Standard.
