How did you secure the fabric to the wing ribs? Looks a very neat finish.I assume the original was attached using the Cessna clips, which rust and disintegrate over time.
ah come on??? no cotton?? lol Yeah the GP really are set back when they find out the some airplanes have a fabric covering on them. I had a A&P student work in my shop and he said the instructor told the class that they'll never see an airplane with fabric on it since it was all "old school" we laughed as we recovered a J-3. LOL
Stitching really depends on the aircraft/wing type and design. Some wing ribs have screws or clips to mechanically fasten the fabric to the ribs. Other ribs require a “compression” load which comes from stitching. The Cessna 140 had rib clips (probably the easiest and quickest).
Thank you for the detailed explanation! Subbed! 👍
Thanks!
Nice video Nate! Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Glad you enjoyed it!
You really are a tough guy bro 👍

Installed all new fabric clips. Most of the old ones were still ok, but I replaced them all anyways.

I’d rather not do this every year, sooo…no cotton! And some of the best airplanes are fabric covered! Come on Mr. Instructor!
Did you have to do any stitching with your fabric system?

Thanks!
Have you consider Oratex?
I'm so used to the Poly Fiber system, so that's what I used on the 140.
You're back!
Yeah, it’s been a while. I’ll do better. 😀
