Out of my first 200 hours, I'd guess that 100 hours were in a 140 (85 or 90 hp). On a hot summer day, with two large people and full tanks, a 140 would climb very slowly and at a very shallow angle. What a difference 135 hp would make!
Congratulations on your 140 that airplane is so much more capable than most people realize with that 0290 Lyc. I had a 46 Cessna 120 with a 125 Lyc for 17 years it was a great airplane. I would love to have conversations with you about that Lycoming, and what I found out about the airplane after all the years I had it. the only reason why I sold it I needed better cross country airplane with a little bit more range between fuel stops so I upgraded to a 170A it was a project I worked on for a year and that first flight was a lot of fun just like you had with your 140. Good luck and fly safe.
Makes you appreciate Clyde Cessna and his struggles ,shame he never got over his best friend death in aviation accident......but Tail dragger ( Real pilots plane)...
Lebanon Oregon? I'm in Springfield and bet you flew right over me. Always loved the 140. Smooth flying bird. And an 0-290! Wow serious upgrade. Bet it climbs well now! Lol
Just got my tailwheel also with Ben at XNX - now I want a 140 so bad! Awesome to see your project and training amount to that kind of grin moment. Well done!
It feels like it! It honesty caught me off guard when I took off. I had to pull back to 1800 RPM to let @bben76 catch up (and he has the 90 horse engine on the 140!)
New Sub here. Just wanted to say Thanks for this wonderful series of videos!! God Bless you brother.
Great video series, thanks for sharing
The airplane appeared to be smiling when you were pushing it out of the hangar. Congratulations!
It took me a few minutes after airborne to get there but we both were grinning on landing… 😜
Congratulations, your living the dream!
I am! Thank you!

I flew in a C-85 airplane the other day and actually felt uneasy at the takeoff performance which was apparently normal!!

Congratulations, may you have many more flights to come. I first laid my eyes on the 140 at a museum in Sao Paulo a few weeks ago and fell in love
They are cute little birds but I am not sure I’ve ever seen one in a museum! Lol cool!
Congratulations, so glad you brought it back to life. Cheers to lots of flying in the near future.
Got a few ideas rolling around… 😉
Great video!!
Thanks!
Congratulations on your first flight!! Also, the best crafted video you've made so far. Well done!
Thank you for that! Means a lot! It was probably my quickest turn around too! 😂🤣😅
Grass roots aviation, at its finest 🙂 Congratulations for a successful restoration and first flight 🙂
Thank you!
Congrats, man! Awesome to see, and that O-290 really made it a performer!
Thanks for the insight you’ve provided along the journey! I greatly appreciate you following along! The insta360 looks great on your bird by the way!
@@The_Flying_Mechanic Thanks! I really appreciate that! I love building this community!
Fantastic! 🙂
Thank you! 😃
The140 was the first aircraft I soloed in 1964
A lot of people’s first solo was in Cessna 140’s!
An O-290 is cheating but the airplane appreciates it. Nice flight.
