When he was with her he would cosign her self-absorbtion that the reason i liked her with Damon because half the time he didn't care how Elena wanted him to solve the problem he did the way he wanted to. But in that episode, Elena literally pretended to be her friend. Rebekah was sharing her deepest thoughts and was vulnerable and Elena chose to stab her. The problem isn't that she's self-centered, the problem is that the show is trying to portray her as this sweet down to earth girl next door, whilst also portraying her as the most selfish person in the show with it not even being truly addressed besides a few moments where the writers seem to have a temporary self-awareness of the character they're writing before getting hit with the stupid again and insisting she's some sort of pure soul. There are a lot of great things about this show and universe, Elena ironically isn't one of them, I was fine with her character initially but as I'm watching more of it, her nasty side is becoming more and more apparent. I was flabbergasted when she mentioned committing Vampire genocide on Kol's line as flippantly as one would discuss the daily errands they're about to run, all for her own gain. Christ. With characters like Klaus on the other hand, you know he's bad, but that's not all he is. As you learn more about him in this show and in The Originals you realize that deep down he's just a broken soul who's been hurt severely by the people who were supposed to love and cherish him, and so it has led him to develop a paranoid, ruthless, and cold hearted outlook on the world. While you hate what he does at times, you understand him, even sympathize with him, many others like myself grow to love him, because you know there is good in there, it's just been almost swallowed by a thousand years of heartache, betrayal, survival, grief, anger, and hatred. In the end, his last act of sacrificing himself for the sake of his daughter and anyone else who would potentially share the same fate as her proves what a good heart he ultimately had, buried under the darkness. It'll never cease to befuddle me how on one hand they could write a contradicting mess of a character like Elena, yet also write a brilliant and well executed character like Klaus Mikaelson.

Even without his hunter strength he is brave enough to stand in front of a 140 year old vampire and trash talk to him. Plus he died 2 or 3 times In the show and he was okay. He deserved much more screen time. At least we know that he spent time as a teacher in the salvators school so that's something but still a show about his life after the events of tvd it would be very interesting

She lost people but was always allowed to grieve. When we first saw her she was going through a grieving period and she was allowed to before school started back. But only Elena was allowed to be sad when Caroline turned off her humanity she tried to have some sort of control still so she wouldn’t regret much when she turned it back on. Bonnie didn’t get to grieve when she lost people she always had to save them and Elena never really cared about others

Katherine was my first big crush when I was 11 years old (didn't noticed it because I didn't knew I am a lesbian) but after few years when I fallen in love with my best friend it was all so clear to me! Katherine for me was the most beautiful, strong and sassy woman I have ever seen and her story was so heartbreaking, I was sooo obssesed with her. I can see how people don't like her (well she is a villian) but I watched this show ONLY for her and I watched only the seasons she was in. When Stefan lost his memories, that was the best decision for him. He was so at peace and ofc she found a way to torture him about what they used to have even thought, she is with his brother like wtf.

The problem isn't that she's self-centered, the problem is that the show is trying to portray her as this sweet down to earth girl next door, whilst also portraying her as the most selfish person in the show with it not even being truly addressed besides a few moments where the writers seem to have a temporary self-awareness of the character they're writing before getting hit with the stupid again and insisting she's some sort of pure soul. There are a lot of great things about this show and universe, Elena ironically isn't one of them, I was fine with her character initially but as I'm watching more of it, her nasty side is becoming more and more apparent. I was flabbergasted when she mentioned committing Vampire genocide on Kol's line as flippantly as one would discuss the daily errands they're about to run, all for her own gain. Christ.
With characters like Klaus on the other hand, you know he's bad, but that's not all he is. As you learn more about him in this show and in The Originals you realize that deep down he's just a broken soul who's been hurt severely by the people who were supposed to love and cherish him, and so it has led him to develop a paranoid, ruthless, and cold hearted outlook on the world. While you hate what he does at times, you understand him, even sympathize with him, many others like myself grow to love him, because you know there is good in there, it's just been almost swallowed by a thousand years of heartache, betrayal, survival, grief, anger, and hatred. In the end, his last act of sacrificing himself for the sake of his daughter and anyone else who would potentially share the same fate as her proves what a good heart he ultimately had, buried under the darkness.
It'll never cease to befuddle me how on one hand they could write a contradicting mess of a character like Elena, yet also write a brilliant and well executed character like Klaus Mikaelson.

Even without his hunter strength he is brave enough to stand in front of a 140 year old vampire and trash talk to him. Plus he died 2 or 3 times In the show and he was okay. He deserved much more screen time. At least we know that he spent time as a teacher in the salvators school so that's something but still a show about his life after the events of tvd it would be very interesting
And ppl still don't understand why I don't like Elena. Yes she lost a lot of ppl and went thru things but so did everyone else yet they don't act the way she did. Losing ppl doesn't give you the right to act a certain way. She was the only character who could truly grieve while her friends suffered ALL THE TIME. (And no it isn’t entirely Elena’s fault but she even has her moments where she treated her friends so poorly.)

She lost people but was always allowed to grieve. When we first saw her she was going through a grieving period and she was allowed to before school started back. But only Elena was allowed to be sad when Caroline turned off her humanity she tried to have some sort of control still so she wouldn’t regret much when she turned it back on. Bonnie didn’t get to grieve when she lost people she always had to save them and Elena never really cared about others

Katherine was my first big crush when I was 11 years old (didn't noticed it because I didn't knew I am a lesbian) but after few years when I fallen in love with my best friend it was all so clear to me! Katherine for me was the most beautiful, strong and sassy woman I have ever seen and her story was so heartbreaking, I was sooo obssesed with her. I can see how people don't like her (well she is a villian) but I watched this show ONLY for her and I watched only the seasons she was in. Elena on the other hand was the most annoying character in all TV series history I SWEAR and I couldn't stand her for a second!! Bonnie hated Caroline once she became a vampire even tho it want Caroline’s choice and Bonnie was the one who made Damon give her his blood.
