I completely agree, I found a Canon 6d at a pawn shop in Vegas. $350 barely touched with a 1,900 shutter count. The color science is so good that I don’t use any of my Sony mirrorless cameras anymore.

Agreed. I'm a full time corporate photographer. I bought a new 6D on eBay in late 2019 to serve as a backup to my Mk IV. Even with the Mk IV, I find myself wanting to shoot with the 6D. I love how compact it is and how it feels in my hands. The high ISO performance blows me away (not quite as good as the Mk IV, but light years ahead of the Mk II, which I used to shoot with). So, yes, I deliver files that my clients pay for, using the venerable 6D. At the end of the day, a client doesn't care what camera you use. As long as the camera you use can get the job done, no worries.

I bought second hand 6d in really mint condition with about 3000 shutter count for just over 300 quid. It is my first FF camera. So far I have been using xt4 and xt2 which I kept. One thing that I've notice with 6d comparing to xt4 it's that I can bring more details from shadows area on xt4.

I came across this video while searching for the various feature tutorials and I agree with everything he says .EXCELLENT camera no need t upgrade any further. I used it on a cruise in 2019 and took a photo of the sky and sea which were pitch black and I had to guess where the centre or focal point was .. I clicked the camera and it took a phot which looked like I took it at dusk instead of night .. AMAZING .. I wish I could show you the photo on here in UA-cam

I have a Bmpcc4k for my video projects and just recently got a 6D since I use EF lenses on the black magic. Before that I was using a nx3000 for stills. NX now fills like a toy compared to canon. 6D has the added bonus of magic lantern and I have to say that with recent ML sd hacking builds, 1080p14bit raw footage is nice and easy to grade and color match with Black magic footage.

Although I am thinking about upgrading to a 5D mark iv while I can still get one. Thinking Canon may be going to discontinue the DSLR’s.... at least in the full frame series and concentrate on their new mirrorless system. ??? Will there be a new 5D?
I’ll take my chances and get a Mark IV.... still looking at the EOS 6, but still skeptical....I guess we’ll see?!!!? What do you think?

I've been running two Sony a6000s with some nice primes and a zoom for the last few years. Great camera to be sure. However, I've long had a hankering for full frame for a few reasons. I don't shoot action (did that with manual film cameras decades ago) and want more for landscape to much larger prints, lower noise at higher ISO, etc.. I've been watching a 6D at a pawn shop I retired from for sometime now while researching the 6D. It was an awful camo color so no one bought it and it set a long time. Today I found out the ugly camo is a rubber cover over the body. Clean underneath. I put the body in layaway on the spot as it was well reduced in price. Looks like I'll be selling most of, if not all my Sony APS-C gear and drone to pay for a few good pieces of L glass to go with the Canon 6D. I may keep one of the Sony bodies and get a lens adapter to use the L glass. So yeah, the 6D still makes a lot of sense at the start of 2021 if you want full frame and good used glass for things that stand still or move slow. Appreciate the video.

Thought I would do an update. I did get the 6D. Added Tamron 24-70 and 70-200 f2.8 zooms and a 40mm 2.8 STM pancake. It has become my workhorse. The camera I reach for. I had a Sony A7RII for a while that I got for a great price. It even worked great with my EOS lenses with an adapter. It was also a battery hog. I finally realized that for what I'm doing I really don't need 42MP. Maybe because I'm an old film and SLR guy the DSLRs feel right in my hands. Since that post below 2 years ago, I've used that 6D for a variety of tasks including very low light and fireworks. Still an awesome camera and is capable of some nice-sized enlargements. I ended up selling the Sony a6000s. I kept the little a5000 with two kit lenses just because it's cute, fun, and handy. I traded the Sony A7RII for a clean Canon 80D. The 80D covers a few things I want to do a little better than the 6D. Together they are a great combo, though I still grab the 6D first.
Yeah, in 2023 the Canon 6D with good glass is still a very usable and capable camera. Maybe when the R6 starts showing up a lot cheaper on the used market I might move to the R6. But it will be a bit.

Paired with my canon 70-200mm f/2.8 and my (just got yesterday) 24-70mm f/2.8 II, it takes awesome sports pictures. I just bought a used one and hopefully will be here soon. I have a Sony a6400 it is great and an RX10. But want full frame because of zero crop. Also I had Canons before. 7D, 77D, SL2 and they were fine. The Sony a7 ii was too but battery life was bad. Also I just liked Canon more. I am not giving up my a6400. Small enough for street photography and does not call attention to itself much. My iPhone 12 pro max is great but limited on what it can do. Video? Not a big deal here I have a professional Panasonic AG-UX90 4K UHD camcorder for that. I want to get heavier back into stills, landscapes and more. The 6D made the most sense. The Nikon D600 was a contender too but more pricey than the 6D for what I get. I shot with Nikon and Pentax, Panasonic and Olympus too. Kind of a hobby for me. I create too here on UA-cam as well. Mostly for fun. But I think the 6D is a lifer for me. The EF system and 3rd party support are great and good value. Sony is way too spendy here. So I video with it mostly and my Panasonic. The RX10 is my go to camera with its fixed f2.8 zoom Zeiss glass, it is very nice given its way. We'll see how I do with this 6D.

One thing to know is a wide angle lens will work better on the 6D than a 7D due to the 7D being a cropped sensor. I have both camera's and the wide angle works MUCH better on the 6D, as it was intended too on all full frame bodies.

Looking hard at this one also. A couple times a year I like to shoot things sports related, and under the worst possible scenario: indoors or in other poor lighting from far away. It's so "specialized" that I basically do not attempt it. Anyway, I know some of the APS-C cameras would be better at the 6D for focusing but not necessarily in low light ... so I'm torn.
Once a year my kid races a horse in a location that's poorly lit. We bought the "official" photo of her going around a pole and I peeked at the exif data. Canon 6D, Canon 70-210 f2/8 used at about 175mm wide open at maybe 1/125. We got a usable small print from that but nothing was really sharp. Come to think of it I don't think the photog used a tripod. 'd be tempted to use one with a video head so I could easily pan but not have to support the camera and lens.

Thanks for watching and for the info! The only thing I can think of for blurryness is shooting at that length of 175 things can get really shaky really fast! Pick one up and if you don’t like it you could always sell it for what you paid or maybe even a small profit!

@@russellscott7733 I've since picked up a like-new, minty 50D for pennies that's much faster than the truly ancient camera I had previous. There was a 5D on my local FB Marketplace for like $75 but I wasn't quick enough to snag it! The 6D remains out of budget for me.
It's funny that I just now got a Canon with a joystick for selecting AF points at a time when you don't need any of that anymore with new cameras with eye-AF. But here's the thing: There will always be a place for certain out of date cameras such the 6D or 5D. It's not as if they'll take worse pictures today than when new in most cases. You just have to use it within its limitations unless and until you can't.
If an early full frame came my way I might just hang onto the 50D for what it offers instead regarding AF speed, decent FPS, and some of the nicer EF-S lenses beckon. It would make a great, dedicated macro rig for example with the EF-S 60mm Macro, or have longer reach for sports. I want the EF-S 10-18mm too.

I bought this camera new around 2013. Excellent build quality. Good sensor at the time.(outdated compared to new cameras if dynamic range at base iso is what you want but high iso is still good compared to new cameras). I like the ergonomics except for the way to change AF points but this an entry level FF so the joystick is not on this model. Outer AF points are ok in good light but not so good in dim conditions but the centre point is excellent in all. The silent shutter is quite good considering it has to move the whole mirror out of the way. From memory this camera has more movie compression modes I.e IPB and all I compared to the mkii model. It also has the facility to have a new focussing screen fitted for manual glass focusing.

Full Frame does not have more data , sometimes it has less data , , depends on Bit depth and resolution the most . .
Crop Body or DX format can have everything equal or better then Full Frame except Depth of Field , for Depth of Field is a Physical property , not a technical aspect .
The bigger the sensor , the bigger the lens you need , the less depth of field you get, or more blur or bokeh .
The smaller the sensor , the smaller the lens , the deeper the DOF , until you get to pin hole Lens like on Smartphones an almost everything is in focus .
Smartphones have F2 lenses and they do as good in low light as FF cameras , they have as high Photon density per square mm as Full Frame lens that is F2.
But its not same Depth of field .
That is the only difference . This Depth of field is what gives FF look , and you can make F2 looking picture on Crop Body as you get on FF , if you put F1.2 lens on that DX camera .
It would be identical given all else being equal , same lens , same pixel density , same everything , The picture would be the same .
problem arises when you want F1.2 look on your DX camera , for that you need F0,8 lens on DX body . And you dont have that .
Usually you dont even have F1.8 , let alone F0.8 .
So , i was thinking ok im fine with F1.8 look , ill get Crop Sensor , DX , smaller easier , fine .
Then i took a look how much DX format F1.2 lens costs , i would need it to achieve F1.8 look on FF .
And it costs a lot .IF you can find it .
Hence , for me its better to go Canon 6D and then put on it Helios 44 , that i already have , done for 500$ .
While if i go for Crop Body , i would need 1000$ just for lens , and even then be limited to F2 on FF kind of look
Hence i have to go for FF . And its cheaper , a lot cheaper then DX
While it doesn't seam like it is , it is cheaper , a lot .
Especially for Canon with all the cheap glass around .
This is the most important aspect of FF , one you fail to mention .
Because you think F1.2 on DX camera is same as F1.2 on FF . ITS NOT .
Its same photon density , same low light performance, but not same Look , not same Depth of field .

6D is amazing for astrophotography for $450, much better low light than 5D II/III.

    "20mpx sensor (...) still relevant today".... And here I am sitting with a 12 (or 13?) year-old 12mpx crop frame 😂

I bought one in 2024 😂 don't know about "entry level" I've been into photography since film days, we had full frame then, 35mm film 😂
