I know photography/videography can be quite expensive, so whenever you can do to save money is a good idea! That's why I think the Canon 6D Mark 1 is a fantastic option. With that beautiful Full-Frame Canon look, I think you'll be satisfied until the money is there to upgrade.

I use the 2012 Canon 6D for all my work. I spent all my money (about $6000) on EF lenses instead of a "better" body, only to find out that the 6D is all I need, since the quality is nothing but AMAZING. I get nothing but complements from my clients, even today in late 2020. The next money I'll spend is upgrading my computer. I have a 2008 Mac Pro, but that is a bigger priority than a new camera body. I'll keep using my 6D as long as it works!
I felt the same way. Been shooting 6D since 2012 as well and felt no need to upgrade through all the new iterations of 6D and 5D’s as well as Sony mirrorless. Instead, like you I invested my money in glass. But recently, I decided that the new R6 checked all the boxes and can confidently say that I’m blown away. Not with image quality because really, they’re the same. But my keepers. The AF is downright incredible. And with the quick burst rate, it’s almost like playing a game in easy mode. The controls are really intuitive and I got used to it in a couple of hours. No more back button focus then recompose because it tracks your subject at any place in the viewfinder. But I still love my 6D and it’s my backup. I don’t plan on selling it.
I am still using 6D mark 1 in 2022. I had got the best photo for each indoor photograph.
I have used this camera for serious pro commercials. I paid 1500 for it new with the 24-105 f4 lens. I have made several million dollars shooting commercials with THAT camera. No Reds, no Arri, just a Canon 6d mark 1
hey how do you find the autofocus on say action photography? by that i mean i want to use it for shooting passing motorbikes whilst i stop for a brew whilst out on my motorbike.
Some gear I chose to marry: my 6D is one, the EOS R is another. Been shooting with the 6D since 2013. Love the image quality. Both cameras have a very special place in the Canon line up.
Been using the 6D for all my video work in the club combined with an ultra wide lens, am still in love with this camera to this dayy
I got my 6D for $500. With 1400 clicks. I did one job and the camera was paid for, the client loved my shots, and yes I agree cannons color science is fabulous and when you get the color correct in Camera you can do less post which means you have a bigger profit! Nice video guys!

Back in the film days it was if a camera body had good glass, didn't leak light, and had an accurate shutter, you could get great photos with it. Pretty much with the 6D you can get a solid, very usable full frame camera for a lot less and spend your money on picking up better glass.
Just a tip..... the 6D works well with Arri luts as well with just some minor tweaks. It is a great for any video to be delivered in 1080p
The 6Di has the ML RAW option for serious video shooters too.

I have um 6D M1 and I'm quite happy with it. It' an amazing camera. I am shooting with a pentax-A 50m f2.8 macto and I'm complete in love with this setup.
I love my 6D . The only area it falls down is in the autofocus system . I was considering upgrading to a used 5d mkiii but a number of reviews have pointed out that the 6D has better high ISO noise performance , better even than the 6Dmkii that replaced it.
In the end I kept the 6D and replaced my original 7D with a 7D mkii.
I love my 6D. I will never sell it. It was my first full frame, having owned a 30D, SL1, and 7D before it. Now I’m shooting an R6 but the 6D is my backup. Great sensor and images.
Recently bought the 6Dmk1 switching from my 1300D. Fell in love with the camera after few shots!
This is the jump i want to take. From entry level crop to entry level full frame.

Canon 6D is a beast in image quality. The only weakness is the limited AF points and lack of eye-AF tracking which makes it hard to use in events photography where the eyes of a moving person should be in focus all the time.
Other than the AF, the rest is clear. Canon 6D is a winner in still photography and studio portrait.
My Nikon D3X is 24MP & does 4.5 fps, but that’s okay as I shoot in single frame mode. A Canon 6D would be really interesting to test against the D3X in the studio with strobe. The 6D will smoke the D3X for natural light at higher ISO settings, but in the Studio with flash, the D3X is pretty good.
I have both, and can tell that the colours from the 6D are beter then the R.

What’s the thing on the bottom of the body
A Battery grip. It gives you more stability when shooting vertical. Also packs 2 batteries so it'll last you longer. Doesn't necessarily makes your pictures better, but good if your a professional.
Reference the 6D auto focus points, yes only 11 and only the center is cross type. That caused a lot of disrespect for the camera when it was new but on at least one popular photography blog the majority of serious shooters said they only use the center point anyway.
I always use the center point focus for all my photos.
Way Cool! I agree with that. 😀 For many years with film cameras all we had was the center dot and in some cameras no dot at all and many great photos were made on film 😀
Just because we are using digital cameras with all the fancy options it doesn't mean w can't use infinity, estimated range or just plain manual focusing. The focus dots are just there as a helper or an option in my opinion. And this is just my opinion.

The 6D is a tank. I've had mine for 4 years. I think it's great. I don't want to sell it...

I have had many cameras. Many Canon, Nikon, Sony,Olympus,Panasonic, and even Pentax. I always wanted a Canon 6D but never got around to it till recently. This camera is wonderful for what I do. I have more modern cameras but this camera is always Johnny on the spot and my ready to go favorite. I had a Sony a7ii and thought it was okay. I liked the a6400 I kept better. Even my RX10. This is my favorite full frame and I am keeping this one. It is great. I don't really care about latest and greatest and use the money on the lenses where it counts.
I think the best budget full-frame Canon right now is the RP, all things considered. You get access to all the RF glass, but also the new RF stuff, not to mention the upgrade path to more serious cameras, like the upcoming R5. The 6D may be cool to have as an extra camera, if you can afford it, but it's not worth investing into as an olny camera any more.
Fair enough, but I'd argue that's only if you want to be on the frontline of the tech space with RF glass. There's still a plethora of EF demand in the market, and at a more affordable price. RF can get very pricy so at the end of the day, it's not very budget friendly. Definitely an argument for either side in my opinion.
@@ConnorMcCaskill2 Yes, the current RF lineup is pricey, but more affordable lenses are coming. Thankfully.
JUST got an RP late the past week. Funny enough, I have a 6D and M50. Got the M50 for use as a webcam, also did some vlogging on a road trip to GA. I love the 6D but got the RP to launch myself into the RF world. Also starting to make a secondary career in photography after being out of work for months. Mirrorless is just so foolproof to shoot with, I wanted to upgrade from the 6D. If this takes off, I'll invest in next year's Canon offerings...
