I was 6 years old when I first saw this movie. Sat in front of the TV with my two brothers who couldn't make it 10 minutes before they got scared. I loved it then, and now, at 16, I still watch it in my free time. This movie will always be in my heart, it's what had driven me to be so curious and appreciative of the past. What a beautiful movie.

But my statement actually makes sense.. why would a trex need a giant cliff? a brachiosaurus could just step over a normal fence aso why would they encounter brachiosauruses in the trex paddock?

This brings tears to my eyes. I watched the crap out of this movie when I was little!! It was so original, and later on it would change movies as we know it. It’s so sad to think we won’t get many original ideas of movies anymore. It breaks my heart.
exactly. hollywood peaked in the early 90s. it's not the same thing anymore. now it's more about VR games (and trust me some of them are pretty insane)
For this long ago, they knew how to make a trailer... 27 years on and this is still one of the best movie franchises of all time.
How the fuck do the props in this look 1000x more convincing than the CGI in the Jurassic World trailer?
At least they didn't ditch the franchise, it's not easy making a SUPER EXPENSIVE film like this one. especially now, getting animatronics is REALLY expensive now compered to back then.

Are you blind? They used CGI in this movie, and it was pretty bad..good for the time..but definitely not at all comparable to the Jurassic world's trailer..and it's still all unfinished. So please..take some graphic design classes and come back to tell me which one is better. I loved this movie, but people need to stop complaining about stupid things they have no idea what they're talking about.
Austin Powers You must be joking man... The first Jurassic Park CGI was way better than the new movie. Idc what they had to do to make a dinosaur look real, even if it takes making the movie darker. Thats what made the first movie the scariest and most realistic. Hiding the flaws was the best thing they could have done. Making the dinosaurs look real is what made the movie so great. Ive seen all series over 100 times and by far the first and second are the most realistic of them all

I just watched 1, 2, and 3 a week ago... they looked pretty bad. Definitely not as good as Jurassic World's CGI. But hey..you can say whatever you want, believe whatever you want..I'm just stating the simple fact. And to quote what I said in my previous comment "They used CGI in this movie, and it was pretty bad.. GOOD FOR THE TIME..but definitely not at all comparable to Jurassic World"
Everyone saying how the trailer spoils the movie, remember back when this was released there was no UA-cam to watch the trailer just before you see the movie. You would see the trailer before another film and then weeks later watch this film, remembering the jist of the trailer but not the details

This first movie is all time great. I remembered when I watched this as kid in cinema, it was so realistic and scary. We need to be thankful to Spielberg for this art peace and to made our childhood better 👏

Love the tyrannosaur sound by the end of the trailer. Amazing!! The special effects still hold up so well after SO many years! It was magic in the 90s..
they used several animal sounds TOGETHER (an elephant, a lion and one or two more, not sure) absolutely perfect!
I watched this in a VHS like a thousand times easily when I was a little kid, loved the actors, the action, the story, the soundrack, everything.
i still got the VHS plus many many other editions on LD, DVD, bluray. i will keep them forever! plus the toys too!

This was the most amazing cinema experience of my life. For the first time dinosaurs were bought to life. It was such a great achievement by Spielberg that set the benchmark for special effects.

I have what you would call an old soul. I was born in 2001 and I’m so enthusiastic about classic cinema that I rarely have any hopes for new movies nowadays. Anyway, I got the chance to see this classic favorite of mine on the big screen upon a re release and my Dad took me to see it on the big screen. Epic!
this movie is the perfect example of why mixing cgi with practical effect is the best way to go. cgi was never meant to replace practical effects it was meant to polish and clean them up.
I think it is hilariously ironic that in this movie just the word velociraptor was enough to instill fear in the hearts of the people on the island because they were so powerful and intelligent and in the new film...at least from what I can tell...the raptors are basically trained guard dogs who take orders from the humans to search for the dinosaur hybrid. It will be interesting to see how that pans out.
CeltycSparrow its like their trying to appeal to a dumber market (the ones how think its cool to see a person on a motorcycle riding with lap dog dinosaurs), especially chris pratt, he sounds like a right knob head in the trailer. Velociraptors are meant to strike fear through you living souls. ehh they did things better in the 20th century.

I'm watching this tonight on tv and I honestly cant believe how good it still looks over 25yrs later.I watched this as a 15yr old boy and I'm now 40.It was awe inspiring to me back then and its exactly the same today.Fcking magnificent movie..it shows no age.

25 year plus years later this movie still holds up!! With less technology this first movie looks and feels way better than any of the new movies. That's because they did not take the easy way no shortcuts this was pure old fashioned HARD HARD WORK. From all of the staff and every single person giving their 100%. It's kinda weird how the CG looks more realistic than Jurassic World. Today's CGI have too much lighting effects and over the top scenes. It takes away the realism which some of these old school movies had.

Since Jurassic park it seems that CGI has NEVER (seem to) improved. it's gone cheaper for sure but it just looks shitty for the most part, with added effect but you can STILL, 22 years after those CGI pretty much say it's CGI. Also, like jerome roy said, pretty much all the close ups are animatronics, not CG. This movie set the tone for CG in 1993 and it was rarely equaled in almost no movie after

Songtoria FX Like William Liem said, they didnt use any CGI in Jurassic Park they used animatronics as the dinosaurs. They had a man play the raptor in this one but they just decorrated him with anomatronic legs, tail, and head. And the rest was done with the computer.

Today has been 25 Years since this movie was made!!!! I am so proud to have found it again!!!!
I was 5 years old when I saw this in the cinema.
My parents logic at the time was: hey our son loves that movie "the land before time", I bet he would love this one.... I had nightmares for years.
That first scene in particular with box and forklift, not just the sound but how the sound was played through every single individual speaker in the cinema was enough.

Looking at this from a purely "trailer" standpoint, it was about a minute and a half too long, and it gave too much away. In spite of this, I was extremely impressed with most of it! You did an amazing job, especially with the impact tremors matching up to the trailer music. it was great!

I still do not get why the CG of today still cannot compare with Jurassic Park 1. Even though they use puppets TOO, there is a lot of CG, and most of today's CG just look like:
1.) The movement is too light.
2.) The hair moves like the character is underwater
3.) The overall everything is too slow and light (like how the realistic hair is such a main focus that the movement is overly-exaggerated and slow; like when you step, the slightest movement sends the hair blowing too much).
I haven't seen the new one yet. How is the CGI in the 2015 JP? Is it decent?:-)

Which I think was great by the way. ;)
As a whole this is perhaps the best movie ever made. Its just plain solid, you cant imagine a slightest thing it could've been done to make it better. Even the CGI is on point for god sake. Chilling action, perfect cast, smart dialogue, original/ingenius plot, incredibly neat pacing, and last but not least, the raptors, one of the scariest and deadliest creatures ever put to screen. Its just surreal. Spielberg are you god?

I heavily disagree. This was a well-edited trailer but its music was subpar; it spoiled what the dinosaurs looked like and even showed the ending in the Visitor's Centre; and, though it's just an adaptation of the _Avatar_ trailer, it's nonetheless very lengthy. The original _Jurassic Park_ trailer was far more suspenseful.
