Allison! I have to tell you I have been absolutely BINGING on your videos. I can’t put into words how much I appreciate you. I cant afford to pay for classes at the moment as I take care of my 94 yr old mom and haven’t been able to “work” for several months.
I feel so fortunate to have found you (just the other day) and your beautiful work. I’ve been painting for years, and you are helping me where I lack direction.
You are a treasure. Thank you sweet girl. ❤

I ordered from Beam Paints recently and I was being probably a difficult customer because I changed my order after placing it. It got a little messed up and Beam’s customer service was AMAZING!!! They completely took care of me! It’s rare to see this level of customer service these days. I’m so grateful you shared this company with your community - they’ve more than earned my continued support!!!

Me again... It is so nice of you to make a special place for Beam Paints and to promote Canadian people, products... I have few paints from Beam Paints. I have Orca and to me it is kind of luminescent Payne's grey. But the one I like most is the shell Dreamer Gold! This color enhance what ever you paint 😀 Merci

Lovely!! I've been really into the Uppercase encyclopedia books and the Uppercase magazines. They are a small publication but such good inspiration. They are also always looking for good artists to feature.

Hi Allison! You said if this video helped one person you would be happy... Well, it helped me a lot! I have been eyeing the Beam paints for a while but didn't take the leap because they are pricey. Seeing the range you can get with the primary colors was super helpful. They have a "Neebna" large paintstone set of the three primaries plus white, so I ordered that plus a regular-size paintstone of Orca. Really excited to play with them when they arrive! Thank you for this video!

In my stay wet palette I use blue shop towel with tracing paper on top! Works amazingly! I also bought a cheap document holder (9x12”) with an air tight lid. Much cheaper than the masterson one 😊

I did some more painting with the metallics and I think I just didn't have enough pigment on my brush. Appreciate your videos sharing your knowledge.

Yes, I tend to "load " my brush with pigment, especially metallics like gold that may be a bit lighter in hue.

I recently received part of my order from Beam Paints, waiting for the rest to arrive, but what I’ve tried so far are absolutely gorgeous! Their micas are incredible! Love what this company is all about. ❤

Hi Allison, I think Imay have commented on one of your previous videos about making my own wet pallette with an air tight food container. I used a piece of kitchen sponge in one and a piece of towelling in another, I have two of these wet pallette boxes now! I also noticed that slightly musty smell so I rinsed the cloths and boxes, then sprayed a little kitchen surface anti bacterial spray in the boxes when I added the dampened cloths. This seems to have fixed the issue, I will refresh the cloths periodically by rinsing and spraying again. Thanks for your video.

A definite help in picking colors. I ordered Maple Sparkle 11 and it should be here on the 28th. I appreciate this video because I would like to order a couple more colors (non sparkly) but they are so expensive. So this was helpful. I liked the second option of primary colors - now I will feel good about ordering these. Thanks.

Just want to let you know I really appreciate this video watching someone else so wasn’t really like mixing and it’s not a thing but still doing their best to explain. It was really nice. I don’t really like mixing. I love convenience colours but it was nice to see some of the basicswhat is like I was learning with you as opposed to being taught, or in some cases people when they teach kind of talk. This was my friendly

I purchased their maple ll in metallics (I don't see them on the website right now). I have to say I was disappointed as they don't show up on watercolor paper. Perhaps they would on black. I tried layering on darker watercolors - they just don't show up. Maybe I just don't know how to use them.

    • @allisondawrant
      @allisondawrant  Місяць тому

Sorry to hear that- I tend to load a lot of pigment on my brush but you should still be able to see the paint on your paper… maybe they discontinued it for that reason… I love the orca but that is a darker colour to start with… have you tried other brands that you like? Maybe you can mix a darker colour into the maple?

P.S. - About the Masterson stay-wet palette. I have the same one, and my only complaint so far is that if the acrylic stays in it long enough, it seems to absorb too much water content and then when I paint with the acrylic it sometimes cracks (from being thinned with too much water). Have you had this happen? I'm sad about it, because the stay-wet palette is so nice for keeping the paints from drying up too fast while I'm working.

Those paint pigments seem very very "weak sauce".... Daniel Smith pigment levels are 5x richer!

it’s great you know that now from my video and can stick with Daniel Smith. I use DS too, and that’s the brand I’d started with after taking some of Laura Horns classes as a beginner. They are wonderful highly pigmented paints for sure. Thanks for watching and your insights.
