Daher’s Kodiak 900, the new version of its Kodiak single-engine utility turboprop, adds more high-end features along with a fuselage that is 3.9 feet longer and aerodynamic improvements that give it up to 36 knots more speed at cruise.
The original model 100 will continue in production and remains the choice for those who want floats for water-landing capability. The 900 carves out a new market niche with a higher payload, faster cruise speed, and optional double club seating for eight passengers.
AIN Editor-in-Chief Matt Thurber put the second 900 ever built through its paces during a flight with Mark Brown, Daher Kodiak chief demo pilot and marketing director.

I may be non-pilot aviotion enthusiast but that doesn't stop me from thoroughly enjoying Matt's "play-by-play" announcer quality narration, perfectly synchronized to the video. His decades of experience in aircraft spanning the spectrum make for a reassuring yet enthusiastic review of this new plane., and that's saying something coming from the same pilot/journalist who has also flown the Dassault 8x tri-jet demonstrating it's capabilities at the other end of the flight envelope. Matt's joy of probing the Kodiak 900's flight regime is palpable and then seeing it pushed to its stall limit while remaining fully controllable is a remarkable feat for the new Daher/Kodaik alliance, significantly broadening its appeal and, as noted, seemingly creating its own nitche in the market. An impressive feat and brilliant demonstration.
We appreciate the positive comment, and thank you for watching!
I like showing the instrument panel and the actual flying and the narration instead a face filling the screen. Thank you.
It's a constant challenge to get the cockpit cameras situated just right, but I'll keep working on it.
Man I hope to fly on this Plane soon on any Commuter Service!!!!
It's so beutiful
Is it wrong that I want one of these just to fly me and a friend to the islands lol. Like I know its for more people and cargo
Why no pontoons for the 900 Turboprop? Only on the 100.
Who are it's main competitor's?
Daher sees the Kodiak 900 as filling a new market niche for a high-performance utility single-engine turboprop. The Cessna Grand Caravan EX can carry a sizeable load but is slower with less range, with a maximum cruise speed of 185 knots versus the 900's 210 knots. The next closest competitor might be the Pilatus PC-12, but it is in a different class, with a top speed of 290 knots and range over 1800 nm. So far, there is nothing directly competing with the Kodiak 900.
doesnt look like cessna is even interested in trying to compete in this market.
@@airdailyx With more than 3,000 Caravans built, Cessna has done pretty well. But the market likes new products, and it would be interesting to see how much more performance an aerodynamically cleaner Caravan could deliver.
none :))
3. ….. million….., 😢 nevermind
nice :)))
What happened to the 200 to 800.
wonder what those 2 black knobs over head are ?
They lock the shoulder harnesses in place.
@@zxr92 really,,, that seems goofy,, you can do that yourself on the belts ,,, that would be one thing i would never use then lol
