  • The Pilatus PC-24 is a unique airplane and its features, amenities, and performance have made it a top seller in the light jet market.
    In 2023, Pilatus Aircraft announced major upgrades to the PC-24, including structural changes that resulted in a 600-pound payload increase to 3,100 pounds and range with six passengers growing to 2000 nautical miles.
    With a massive cargo door, 501-cubic-foot cabin, and its ability to take off and land on unpaved runways, the PC-24 has sold more than 500 copies since entering service in 2017.
    To experience the new features in the latest version of the PC-24, AIN editor-in-chief Matt Thurber jumped at the opportunity to go flying with Pilatus Business Aircraft chief pilot Gerard Lambe.

    ery nice aircraft. I can see several air ambulance companies upgrading to this series of aircraft from the PC-12 in the near future (depending on need). I also like the feature of the flaps being designed to accommodate the safety of dirt and rocks not getting kicked up into the engines upon touching down onto a dirt runway.

      @@typhoonjenkins8330 either you're having a wind-up, or I guess some people just have more money than sense to spend that much on a panel re-fit that also makes the airplane an orphan amongst the rest of the fleet. Either way, dumb.

    • @neaera9669
      @neaera9669 Місяць тому +2

      Landing with 90 knots and lower enables the pc24 to land even on small airfields, that's saving you an insane amount of time compared to a citation that actually needs a larger airport

      @@dereklong4945 Phenom 300E max cruise is .80. At FL450 @ .80 Mach (459KTAS) it’s 4 hours 21 minutes to fly 2000 miles. At .73 Mach (419KTAS) it’s 4 hours 47 minutes. That’s 26 minutes difference at “max range” (NBAA rules). For me, the real questions to differentiate between the 24 and the Phenom are not performance related, it’s whether you can tolerate the 24 lav and whether you need the cargo door or pressurized baggage area.

    Worst avionics in any modern jet!

    • @raffertyflies
      @raffertyflies Місяць тому +10

      By what metrics, exactly? You do realize that these are the same avionics that Gulfstream and Dassault use in their jets, right? The Honeywell setup may not be as pretty as the Garmin or Rockwell Collins offerings with their colorful displays, but it's still one of the most capable avionics packages out there.

    • @dereklong4945
      @dereklong4945 Місяць тому +4

      @ they are not the same as what Dassualt or Gulfstream uses. The systems used in the PC-12 and the PC-24 are watered down variants with less functionality all the while having a higher cost of ownership than Collins and Garmin. The Honeywell platform is so great in the PC-12 you will see Pilatus soon announce they are kicking it to the curb for the big G!

      @@dereklong4945 I fly a PC-12 and frankly the only feature I've missed from the G3000 in the Phenoms I've flown is the XM radio so I can listen to Margaritaville in cruise. Otherwise the Pilatus setup seems pretty fully-featured, so what functionality is it missing? I've also heard the rumors that they'll be switching to Garmin soon, probably the G3000 Prime in a few years' time. I'm not opposed to that, honestly.
