Nice to see its possible. One thing you could do would be to add a few more solar panels to your camper. That should keep your camper battery charged up. And if you run the fridge on propane a 20lb tank will last around a month. So that would leave all your truck battery available to you for driving. And if you look around. There is even some ways to add around 20 miles a day with solar to your truck if you aren't in a rush to get anywhere.
Awesome video! I’ve watched it twice now. I want to suggest looking into Toyo Open Country AT3 EV tires. They’re pretty new and purpose built for the Lightning and the OEM 20” wheels so no worries there. Built for low rolling resistance, noise reduction, and the torque of the motors.
Thank you very much! Thank you for your tip on the tires. I will search UA-cam and see if anyone has reports on them with the Lightning. I recently took the camper and truck out to Flagstaff, AZ and with faster speeds (65-75) my kw went down to 1.5 and it was still doable with the distance of the charging stations.
Great quality and very informative!! Thank you! Can I ask if you noticed visible sagging of the truck with the camper on, and did you install any suspension add-on? Also, I wonder if it’s necessary to change the stock tires if not going off-road (with the camper)? Thanks for your tips!
Good questions. I started out stock tires and documented it, but didn’t make it part of the video. Instead of averaging 220 miles on highway. I was up to about 250 on a full charge with stock tires and camper. There was about 1” drop with the camper on with regular suspension and upgraded suspension. I switched to the AT tires, and did a 3” rough country lift (not seen in this video).
Project M would be perfect! I was going to get one until my father, who also owns a Lightning, wanted to get the slide in and pay half. So I went for it. But, Project M would be better due to weight and customizing what you want.
Looking for info on how you secured the camper. Currently have an older Eagle model that weighs in right about 1,100lbs. and might be a good fit in a Lightning.
They installed Ibolts on the bed of the pickup and turn screws that attach it! Definitely go for it! It would be nice to see some more on the road. I just came back from Alabama Hills, Ca with mine.
Thank you! Nitto Recon Grapplers same size that came on Lariat. Without the camper I lost about 20 miles around town. So 325 down to about 300 miles. Highway speeds from 275 to about 250. Dogs loving it 😂
I live in BC Canada and I have the 2024 Lightning on order with the standard battery. Do you think my Lighting will be able to carry that type of camper?
It will, but your range will be much lower. 230 max, but typically 200'ish usable. Lower that even more carrying the camper. It's more about aerodynamics than weight for this payload. The long range has 320, and he was hoping to get 200 out of it. Good luck.
They actually sold it to me under the condition I would buy it with solar and a lithium battery with the camper, but they did give me a discount to offset a lot of that cost. So, yes it was a decent deal.
@@TahoeDogProductions thank you very much. I think I’m gonna go with the topo camper to put on top. Just because I also have to use my truck for work not just camping although I wish I could. I’m buying my truck within the next month or two. I’m starting to see lightnings for less than 45 grand! Can you believe that? And they usually only have maybe 20 or 30,000 miles on them hoping to get the extended range for under 50.
Excellent production !!!!
Thank you!
Great vid. Was hoping to see the review of the slide in somewhere on your channel... ☹️
Good stuff, I watched the TFL content on the lightning too. Great details on efficiency in your video
Great video! I really love your dogs 😍

Trailblazer, good video
Loved the video, can’t wait to see more. Hope you can share your routes or pins for future recommendations.
Thank you! I’ll definitely include the pins in the next one.
Wow! Great video, thank you!
Great video, thanks!
Beautiful video

Wow, I’m appreciative of this advice too because I’ll pick these up for mine. We’re gonna be putting a hardSider camper on there.
Great video, are you willing to share your location near Tahoe with the meadow and creek? I would love to take my dogs for a day trip.
Great video! Been looking at this. We already have a Scout Olympic. How much does your camper model weigh with options?

Awesome!! I'm looking at the Project M for mine.

Many thanks for upload very enjoyable. I have a Tesla model y and really like it but miss my ICE f150 so maybe the lightning is a future option.
Having had my Y and going with Lightning, it worked so well for me. The only thing you will miss is the economy of the battery, miles per KW.

have you checked out the hot springs in Bridgeport?
Great video! Your dogs look like they had a great time! :D What tires are you running; any range reduction?

That’s is not as bad as I expected!

❤❤❤❤❤

What a pain in the arse to hunt for a charging station!!
