Paul, I searched "watercolor winter scene tutorial" and glanced at literally two dozen winter scene tutorials... so called. Not one of them had the level of professionalism that you maintain. I was blown away, realizing how fortunate I am to have found your channel. You give me videos that challenge and inform, and produce a result of which I can be proud. Real landscape paintings, not just a red bird in a snowy fir tree. Thank you so, so much for taking us all to a higher level of expectation and performance!
"Painting is Silent Poetry, and Poetry is Painting that Speaks"- Plutarch. Scenes like these prove this saying.. it's so magical and the glow.. beautiful 😍 Watching you paint gives so much joy and makes me calm .. snows scenes are my favorite! Thank you so much once again
Hello dear Paul! As always a great tutorial with beautiful scene, wonderful music, peaceful atmosphere! I learnt so much from your videos! Being a self-taught “artist”, youtube and teachers like you became my university classes. I have learnt a lot and still continue to study art through your eyes and hand. Keep going! People like me appreciate it very much! Have a nice day! Greetings from Moldova, Lilia Birnaz (engineer in telecommunications)
Hi Paul, I am 71 and brand new to the world of watercolor. As a retired teacher I now have time to try this art form. I have decided to jump right in and try your tutorials. You are right, I am not always successful but I do learn something new each time. Thank you so much for sharing your time, talent and knowledge. Appreciate your guidance, thank you!,,,
Thanks for lifting my spirits over Covid and opening up the world of water colour. I'm a homesick ex Brighton emigrant and your videos give me a sight of the promised land. You are more to your fans than you will ever know. Clive Byerley.
Hi Clive - what a lovely comment and delighted to help you in your watercolour journey and bring a touch of Sussex into your life - thanks so much too for your very generous tip!... I'm off down the pub!
Paul, the lighthearted, fun way you do these tutorials, subliminally tell amateur artists like myself, not to take ourselves too seriously. We are not trying to create masterpieces, we are just having fun.
Hello Paul !! what a great tutorial and a beautiful winter snow scene and Velvet Moon's music are great, she immediately gained a fan. Thanks and have a nice weekend.👌👌👌
Lovely, lovely tutorial, very atmospheric study. You can imagine the crunch from the snow underfoot, no breeze, a calm evening. More brushes than paint too! Thankyou! XXX
Very nice, really beautiful, can't wait to try. How fun just using 3 colors. It's really amazing the difference colors you get with just 3 colors. Thanks for a great video.
To me color theory is as much fun as the actual painting. I'll always owe a debt of gratitude to the man that got me started using a split pallet and going into color theory. It's really amazing
Thanks Paul! I loved the granulation in those distant trees. It gave the effect of branches and undergrowth. Once again a very helpful tutorial in so many ways.
Another winner... I have, amongst others, a Hahnemule block, which I don't like at all, but it's a lighter weight than yours. My favourite is Baohong cotton blocks, great texture, but supply in the UK seems to be intermittent, so I buy direct from China. I love granulating paints, so this is manna from heaven for me... Can't wait to give it a go.. Thanks..
Paul it really breaks my heart that I will never attain your watercolor proficiency, not to even mention your unique comedic presentation of the demos. MY hat off sir!
Ab fab tutorial, Paul. I’m getting 12 sheets of the 300gsm Hahnemuhle paper as a Christmas present - can’t wait to try this reduced palette scene on it. Thanks
Your work is stunning! I love your teaching style and its so easy for me to follow. I have been an artist for 25 years and you have taught me so much I never knew! Im so happy I found you!
Thank you so much for your videos. I loved watercolor painting but could never find my style and I was getting really discouraged with painting until I found your channel. Now I love painting again and I’ve become so proud of the art work I’m creating .I even framed and hung a one of my paintings up in the house. Your methods are so fun/expressive and care free yet beautiful. Thank you for reminding me why I love creating art 😊
Thank you! Another amazing and excellent tutorial! Every Wednesday I'm waiting for it as for the next episode of amazing and so interesting TV series :D Thank you and all the best!
Such a beautiful scene. I plan to use it to paint a gift for a dear friend who over the years has lost several pet Bichon Frisée dogs. She does rescue for the breed and so many were badly abused and in poor health. But she gave them the gift of love and kindness and made their final years happy ones. I would like to paint the bridge as The Rainbow Bridge that our pets pass over on, and then add representations of all her pups on the other side of the river. I have tried to create a setting for this idea but your little bridge will do wonderfully. Thank you, Paul, for some sweet inspiration. Happy holidays to you and Margo🎄🥂🍾🥳
Thank you so much Paul! Such a wonderful scene and amazing how you are doing it with just three colours. I couldn' wait for my boys finding their own games to play so I could paint myself along with your tutorial. I did my best but my result is not half as good as yours. I will give it a second try for you chose such a nice landscape that reminds me of a place back in my childhood. So again, thanks a lot and a blessed weekend! Katja from Germany
Generous Paul; Greetings from a Chilean in Nebraska! I’ve watched ALL your videos several times, and have attempted your tutorials. Only got my UA-cam account to finally comment on your paintings after I found you a year ago. Tried many instructors, you’re simply the best! Thank you for challenging us to paint, mixing from these 3 colors. You never disappoint
I so enjoyed this beautiful painting. I took my painting into my art class at the Senior Center and they all loved it. I shared your site address. I also purchased your book on Amazon . Several folks wrote down the name of your book. So, if you start to hear from folks in Westminster, Maryland, USA, you will know where they came from. Thank you so much. Your work is wonderful. It is so kind of you to share it, across the pond. Patricia Wilhelm, Westminster, Maryland, USA
Love your paintings. I am learning so much. Love the snow ones as well even though I have never seen snow and I am 66 years old. We are sweltering here in South Australia. All I have ever wished in my life is to see snow at Christmas time. But if all I can see are your snow paintings I am still happy.
So lovely - as always!! Thank you dear Paul, for a year filled with magic: your expertise and demos - and humour! - are like a potion to me. You always have something new and exciting and learning from you is a privilege. Thank you for the time, effort and work you put into these weekly classes - I know you have thousands of loyal 'students' like myself - who cannot wait for their 'fix' from you! Wishing you and Margot a very peaceful and blessed Festive Season xxxxx
Absolutely beautiful. Watching, wrapped up in a blanket, warm cat on my lap.and the chill of Winter in the air. Thank you for that glimpse of the frozen countryside bathed in the dying light of evening 👍😀
Thank you for sharing this beautiful painting! Only sometimes I don't have enough patience to wait for the paint to dry and it took me three different sheets to complete this painting. But I'm so happy with the result!
You are a magician with that rigger brush… just stunning… Way prettier picture this week. Inspirational. Good to teach some color blending.. always good to review. Happy Holidays Paul to you & Margo. Our local class in hrre in Central Valley, California lov your videos.
What a wonderful piece oft art, Paul! I love the colours, the sky, the composition with these trees and the little bridge. This is something I would love to try out myself. Have a great time. Kate
Masterful, as always! And with just three colors! You've proven that, in some instances, less isn't just more, it's near-perfection. Thank you for another wonderful video and for inspiring us other artists.
Beautiful painting! Will try that soon. When I started with some watercolor tutorials here on youtube a year ago, my mother (who had a watercolor phase in the late 90s) bought some Schmincke colors for my birthday, BUT only a few (a yellow, an orange, two reds, two blues, yellow ochre and burnt umber). Then she gave me some empty pots and told me how to mix the other colors I'd need, like different greens, grey (orange and blue ;) ), purple etc. Until now I was always a bit annoyed when they grey split up into orange and blue on the paper, but it seems i just have to use that to my advantage... thank you!
Thanks for another great tutorial Paul. I think this might be my new favourite colour combination. I like the simplicity and harmony of using just 3 colours and it’s such fun seeing how the colours combine, I’d love to see some more 3 colour tutorials if others were interested.
I'm a self taught artist since retirement in 2015. Been told my paintings are beautiful, but have been in a funk for a year now. Your tutorial was just what I needed to pick up a brush again and paint. Thank you for sharing your skill and advise. Much appreciated, Paul!
