Your auto card (CAA here and have my old one handy) sculpt the most realistic and three dimensional rocks. This is a lesson worth saving and practising. We even got a little rare afternoon of sun for inspiration, so thank you Paul. Just going for a cup of cocoa . . .

Yes please to more snowy scenes. I love the real time segments, they do help me slow down as i am terrible at waiting for the paint to dry. Listening to your instructions and helpful tips are far more valuable than slowing the video down. Thank you so much for everything you do, I'm going through a very stressful time at the moment and watching your tutorials makes me forget about my worries for a while.

Anyone wondering how a watercolour tutorial could be 30 mins at mostly 2x, doesn’t understand how jam packed with advice, tips and fun are included. YES I love the real time segments, especially on techniques I’m trying to learn. This is a stunning painting and you have inspired me to give it a go. I love your landscape “from anywhere” scenes, as opposed to something geographically specific. Thanks Paul, I really really enjoyed this one. 200k is just around the corner. 🇨🇦

I agree with mezzodolce, Paul. Please, once a month make a full length video. Consider changing the speed to 1.25 or 1.50? This way it won't take as long to sit through, but it would allow you the time to give advice where it's needed. No graphics or post production would be required. Just a real-artist's impressions and advice. It's interesting you added that question at the exact same place you were creating the branches on the center tree. The trick there is whenever you see a bump in the trunk or branch create another off-shooting branch. It's that easy with the rigger! PS: Warts and all. We all make mistakes during painting!

    • @ArtbyPaulClark
      @ArtbyPaulClark  7 місяців тому +2

Yes, as you say - the rigger creates the bump - I see it and then add to it!

Brilliant tutorial as always. Thank you for those tips on sunlight through branches and dabbing out to make it all look real. Regarding the question about 'real time', I am happy with what you already publish. We as viewers can slow it down if needed. I have watched other real time videos but as you commented it gets boring and i tend to quit watching before the finish.

Good morning Paul. Because UA-cam gives the viewer an option to slow down the videos using the speed button I think how you are doing the videos is perfect. When I was first learning I always slowed down your videos so I could see the brush strokes etc. Thank you for another great one. Not much snow here in Florida but I remember the one and only time it snowed in Miami in January of 1977. Lol. I’m old!

I really get a great deal out of the real-time segments in your videos, because they give me an sense of reality and I don't feel like I should be able to paint 100 mph. It's easier to see exactly what you are doing then as well. Thank you for all you do!!!!

I think your “speed” is perfect. When I need to watch something closely I can slow the playback speed. I was starting to find that some of the complete real time tutorials I’ve done in the past have been quite tedious and I found I was saying “just get on with it.” Lol. Keep up the great work.

I enjoy short periods of real time when you’re doing something very intricate. It took me 3 1/2 hours to do this painting and it said it took you three . Two years ago, ago. It would’ve taken me two days and I wouldn’t have done nearly as well. I have learned a lot from you still have lots to learn. I’m not happy with how my rocks turned out but the top half of my painting. I’m very pleased with. Thanks again Paul can’t wait till Wednesday.

I loved the real time segment. I always rush when following a tutorial. as I always seem to try to match the speed I’m watching. It was refreshing to see how carefully and slowly you painted that tree.

Love the video and think that your combination of real time and fast are just right. I've watched some artists who record in all real time and it makes me so tired that I think I need a nap. I am considering a trip next August to England and was pleasantly surprised that some of the photos they have posted are of some places that you and/or Margot have included in your posts. Hopefully, I can see some of England real time!

What I like about your videos, Paul, is that you always say how long they take to paint. "All done in about three hours" is a good indicator for me so I don't need to see it done in real time, even though I do like the bits in real time that you show. I have watched videos of artists painting in real time and, to be honest, I watch them at x2 speed and even then I'm fast-forwarding through bits of it. I find your videos are just the right length to sit and enjoy while having lunch and contemplating my next project. Every time I see you use the plastic card for rocks, it reminds me that I **still** have to have a play at painting snowy mountains!

Good afternoon from a chilly, dull Norwich. This is a beautiful snow scene and I’m always amazed at how you make parts of the painting to look sunny and bright using just a light wash and white paper. Fabulous!
Re’ real time videos. I like to see real time with things I find most difficult like trees, thin branches, distant wet on wet scenery and using a rigger. I cannot use a rigger properly because I’m so ham fisted and clumsy. 😮 So your real time parts showing these things are invaluable for me.
Lovely, jolly and informative video as usual. And thank goodness you didn’t do Christmas cards. I’m sick of em as well. 😊

I've been watching a lot of Alvaro Castagnet videos this week... such a different style. And yet I can see the similarities. It's not the colours that make the artist (he says so himself!) but the inspiration, what you want to express, a good brush that extends the hand, lots and lots of water and above all, a paper tissue. Ha ha ha
I'm not asking for anything other than what you decide to show us and explain. It's so varied, that's what inspires you, and it's already such a chance to benefit from your talent and explanations.
And if you decide to paint a Christmas scene, it will be yours, showing your style (different from any other … that is why I come back).
    Thank you Mr Clark!

Maybe you could do a tutorial about how to change the season of an existing tutorial. You could take one or two of your summer landscapes and turn it into a winter scene, explaining how one would go about it.
For example that English church you did a while ago would make a great winter scene.

You asked about the real time. I don’t think everything should be in real time. However I was real excited you did the tree in real time because trees are sometimes hard to get them to look real. So maybe the hardest thing on the painting or something new that you’ve not done in a while would be good choices for the real time section. Today was my first time to watch you. You are a very good teacher. Thanks!

Lots of lovely techniques for me to practice. The stark trees and crisp snow always look great together. So, cheers Paul and yes, more wintery scenes please.

Snow scenes scare the h*** out of me. All that white paper 😂 but I loved this. I have to say, I do like your real-time segments, Paul, and would love to see a few more but I'm well aware how time consuming editing etc is, so thank you for all you do😊

Mr C, you are the true master of painting trees. Always so relaxing to watch you paint. Another awesome painting. The speeded up version is easy to follow. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for the video! I think for a lot of absolute beginners full time videos could be easier (or just less scary), but I love the videos the way they are.

I love the water color Wednesday! What your doing with your videos is perfect for me. One can always pause, or rewind so you can take your time painting. The tips you give are really good too. Thank you for your videos!❤

Hello, thanks Paul for all your wonderful videos. I love them all. The best ones (for me) are the small paintings like Skies, sunset and northern lights, 3 ways to paint a beach, how to paint rough ses and 5 techniques for painting grasses. Thank you and your team for all the good videos you make.

I love the snow scenes! This video does give many techniques. The card trick is always a challenge! I love the smaller segments of real time. Thank you again for another wonderful video!

Brilliant as always. The real time video is my favorite part, I could definitely watch real time full length videos, you couldn’t bore me. So much information. Thank you so very much for sharing your expertise with us.

Yaya it’s watercolor Wednesday ! My studio aka dining table is put away for Thanksgiving, so it pains me to have to wait a day or two to get started on this ! I love doing your snow scenes , in fact I’ve done 3 in the past week and I plan to do them all , so bring it on baby , let’s do this ! 😂 I laughed at the comment requesting a full un edited painting , although I do love watching you paint , please don’t change a thing , you’re doing it just right ! I slow the video down if in need to watch something a little closer !
We celebrate Thanksgiving tomorrow and I just want to tell you and Margot I am especially thankful for the both of you , you’ve kept me going when times were tough and my spirits down ! I have to have my foot and ankle reconstructed in 3 weeks so about the only thing I have to look forward to for the next year is painting with you , so Thank you both !! 😊❤

Having a couple (few) of "real time" segments is extremely helpful, & though I too, would enjoy watching you paint for hours ... & that's honest... in the course of "life," I might not choose to view a 3-hour video from the get-go. For me, your pacing is pretty perfect. Short enough to keep me both interested & encouraged; long enough to give me a good sense of the time investment. Your practice regarding timing/instruction is, in my who-am-I-to-have-an-opinion thinking, just right! 🙃

    Hi Paul,
I wanted to drop a quick note to say how much I enjoyed your winter watercolor class. The recent winter scene we painted was fantastic, and your skill as a painter is truly inspiring. Your humor adds a great touch to the lessons. Looking forward to more!
    Thanks, Anton
