Here is a small theory of mine: In BDSP you can get the Azure Flute as an item in your room after you get Arceus in PLA. The theory is, it's in your room because you brought the flute from the past, from Hisui to Sinnoh, and you can access the Hall of Origin in BDSP because you got that permission in PLA. You are intended to be the same person in PLA and BDSP.
Wouldn't the green in Cogita's room perhaps have more to do with Rayquaza given the Archie/Maxie portraits in the Diamond/Pearl clan residences? Possible Dragon's Den connection, I'd think. Great video, btw!
Really cool idea! Would also perfectly fit with Toby's theory that it was the Draconids (who worship Rayquaza) who once wandered to Hisui and became the Celestica people (whom Cogita is a descendant of).
I personally want know more about Coginitas people the Celestica People,We see the ruins they built and the Celestica People clearly have a connection to Arecus.
As someone that loves history as well as in many myths and legends, one could say that flutes have been used though out time for many reasons. It is often said that depending on the culture flutes have had many different meanings. For some flutes as you said are used to commune with gods or spirts using the essence believed to be in ones breathe or even jus that the songs resonate with the and attracts them. In other myths flutes are seen as healing objects that are known to purify diseases and conditions though the use of special melodies that react to the person or animals bodies. When it comes to pokemon it appears that they was inspired buy many cultures. The sun, moon, eon, and celestic/azure are used as what is called a summoning flute which through the melody attracts certain pokemon. Meanwhile the ones in hoenn as well as the pokeflute from the og games are more like healing flutes. One should note that there are others that can fit more than one or have completely different backstories. One could say that the time flute is used to call celebi but also helps with the purification of the pokemon which fits given that there are tales of fairies being called by flutes to heal the sick which is not only in many myths but also can be seen in zelda as well. Another flute which I can't remember if it is the black or white one but they are inspired by the piper who lured mice and children using song which is similar to the effects of calling or repelling pokemon. Lastly when it comes to flutes it only makes sense given that they are one if not the most well known instrument used in legends from across the world so it is only natural that when choosing an instrument they went with it. It is also possible that the celestic/azure flute was the original flute and that all others are using it as a base. Also I can explain the shrines a bit as well. Many might wonder why there is a shrine to two of them but not the others. Originally being from sinnoh a shrine was created by cogita to kinda worship enamorus which not only is why it is there in celectic town but also because she was the leader of the group however something must of happened and the pokemon disappeared which lead landorus to take over that role and was later marked as the new leader leaving many to forget about enamorus. In short something happened causing her disappearance and later people simply forgot about her. The one in Johto is most likely another shine to enamorus as well given that after whatever happened in hisui to cause the downfall of the clestica people it is most likely this shrine was created to worship her however was forgotten. Celebi simply appears near it and people not remembering enamorus started to put the shrine to celebi by association.
Another “flute” breath item is Lugia’s Pokémon film 🥺 playing the music brings peace and powers over as well as, as you said, communicates with legendaries.
I had a theory that the pokeballs are much stronger back in the days of PLA( catching a legendary with a pokeball vs using hundreds of ultraballs on a weak Pokemon in "modern day") due to the fact that Pokemon gained some resistance to the power of Pokeballs or that pokecapitalism made the balls weaker for money gain. or Perhaps the poke government or whatever they have lowered the power to preserve the environment and so that all Pokemon are not caught up. Also was thinking that what if people didn't originate in the pokevers but are fallers from a different universe that's why every animal has powers while humans don't
I like the idea of pokeballs being weakened on purpose or Pokemon gaining resistance. You can even tie resistance into the fact that we find Pokemon in tall grass in modern day but in Hisui its the player hiding in the grass to surprise Pokemon so over time Pokemon adapted to our tricks. The fallers part doesn't work at all though as humans in the Pokemon world are super human and the fact that we have lore that Pokemon and people have common ancestors.
Humans have powers. Many Psychic-type trainers are psychic themselves like Sabrina and Avery. Also, people can learn martial arts and some can even channel the power of aura like Lucario. So, it seems that people can be Psychic-type or Fighting-type, while most people are Normal-type. Other than that, I remember in the anime there are characters who are wizards/witches, so I guess there are Fairy-type people as well, though I'm not sure if there are any in the games. Also, it's been established many times that real human ghosts exist. And are the Draconid people of Hoenn Dragon-type?
Ok so to counter the argument that humans have types. Normal type moves include swift, or hyperbeam which we know people don't have as for fighting its just fighting... no bick break etc. Just plain old human fighting. Psychic gets more tricky where I would have to argue that it's either due to exposure to psychic pokemon or simply that the poke-world as we know from examples like galar that there is something in the region that causes living beings to obtain new powers. so maybe some humans are more adaptable to that? As for common ancestors my only explanation would be that humans don't really know their past and and from what I remember every mention of people and pokemon being the same come from folklore. Anyway true or not just wanted to share my theories and hopefully they could be featured on this channel 😀
I always kinda imagine that Arceus's true form is a cosmic entity that cant even be seen by Humans. Like an Elder God type thing where it is beyond a pysical form.
I think you’re onto something big with the flutes! Especially the Time Flutes from Colosseum and XD. One thing that struck with with the Celestica flute is the phrasing the game gives when you play it for one of the noble ride Pokémon. It doesn’t just say that they learned the sound of your playing, but specifically that they “opened their hearts” to do so. The Time Flutes in the Orre games are specifically used not just to summon Celebi, but also to purify shadow Pokémon, a process that’s also described as “opening their hearts” that had been closed off by the shadow creation process. I’ve suspected for a long time that Pokémon are particularly responsive to sound and radio waves given the frequent use of radio in disrupting Pokémon activity (the Team Rocket broadcast at the Lake of Rage, the distinct sounds of the various crystals in Ranger: Shadows of Almia that affect Pokémon behavior, even to some extent the radio jamming device in Ghetsis’s came in B2W2 that prevents pokeballs from working). I don’t know exactly what the cause would be for this, but it’s a consistent ongoing trend that Pokémon can be majorly effected by sound. My best guess is it’s a thing tying all of them to Arceus given the Arceus-Unown connection and the fact that the Unown produce a radio signal of their own.
Then there’s the ocarina, a type of flute, used by Melody in Power of One. This song she plays being the only thing that can restore Lugia’s strength and tap into the power of the three treasures to bring back balance to the world.
I’m so excited for all the Hisuian Pokémon to be in gen 9. Many people believe that these Pokémon can’t be in future games because this game take place in the past, even though it states that Hisuian Zorua came after the unovan form after being pushed out of Unova and not being able to survive the harsh conditions thus gaining the ghost type. Many of the Hisuian Pokémon came after thier original forms.
@@joshuamc96 Some people think that they can only be accessible through some “temporal forms” like mega evolution and literally makes zero sense when half of them came after the original form in the timeline and lore. Plus these new Pokémon have full pokadex numbers and everything they aren’t just gonna be restricted full Pokémon to some temporary form in battles.
I personally like the idea of loose threads that don't really go anywhere currently, because it gives TPC and GF a few extra things to tie the world together and create the feeling of a unified Pokémon world and timeline. Discussion is something that many people (like yourself and some other Pokétubers) are able to participate in that gets you invested deeper in the franchise, and the world and lore that comes from it.
The reason for Flutes I think is because that was one of the earliest types of instrument ever created IRL and remember: "Music can soothe the savage Beast".
I was wondering if Cogita and Volo have a parent-child relationship. If Cogita is Volo's mom, it explains whey he identifies with Giratina as the "unwanted child", but if he's her father (and timetravel or agelessness is somehow involved), that explains her really dismissive attitude towards him. Even if I'm wrong, they have some kind of history I've been wondering about.
I really like the Cogita/Celebi theory, and I LOVE finally seeing Celebi's shrine mentioned as it's driven me NUTS that no one that points out the similarities of the other two shrines NEVER bring up Celebi's when it's the *exact same shrine* . I do wish there was more info to piece together. so-far my fave legends theory (in general) tho is that Volo isn't Cynthia's ancestor, but that Cynthia is Volo's *reincarnation* . every other ancestor has had only a little bit of a resemblance to their descendant, and sometimes only one or two pokemon that connects them, or really not even that, sometimes it's just the typing/association, like Gardenia's ancestor not having grass type pokemon of his own, but instead working with and loving nature, and Melli's hair obviously matching Lucian but his personality and pokemon type matching Avery. for Charm, she seems to only have two pokemon specifically so we as the audience understand her shared relation to both Agatha and Bertha. sure, she's also the eldest and strongest, but that's clearly to tell us that this is why both her descendants are so strong. they get both their pokemon preferences and their strength from her. meanwhile Sabi on the other hand doesn't have any of Cheryl's pokemon or even the pokemon type, but is still clearly her ancestor. this tells us that these people are just that, their *own people* . while physical traits are passed down their bloodline, and some love for certain types passed on (like Gardenia's clear affinity for plant life), only VERY few kept their specific pokemon, the only one I can think of off the top of my head being Rye and his lucario being a clear match for Riley and *his* lucario, which, with how rare lucario are, it's highly likely that lucario is an ancestor to Riley's, passed down his family line. the differences between how close each ancestor is to their descendant is clearly to subtly communicate certain things to the audience, while building the world in a realistic way. but when we look at Volo on the other hand, has damn near *everything* of Cynthia's. he has her mannerisms, like her tendency to sneak up on the player and appear out of nowhere, his battle uses Cynthia's theme, his entire team is her team minus the *one* pokemon he physically can't get in this time period (milotic), he battles just like she does (in things like always starting with spiritomb), he comments that he's willing to wait centuries to finally meet Arceus, which Cynthia does do in the Sinjoh event, and both are absolutely obsessed with the land's legends, both calling themselves "The Researcher of Myths". while it'd be easy to say they're just related, that he's her great grandfather or something, does he really seem like the kind of person to settle down and have a family in a world he wanted to destroy? a lot of people also try and say he and Cogita are her great grandparents, but can you honestly see them together? Cogita is already on the older side, and likely has a family already who for whatever reason simply aren't there (maybe they're in Johto at the moment, maybe they're creating or even maintaining the Sinjoh ruins) but one day return and are the founders of Celestica town, and they are Cynthia's family. the physical things that tie Volo to Cynthia also tie her to Cogita, but feel more like aspects of the Celestica people rather than to Cynthia in particular, and Cogita looks much more like Cynthia in her black dresses than anything Volo wears. we didn't need ALL of that to make the connection between Volo and Cynthia, we all saw it from the moment he was teased in the trailers. his official art ALONE, standing in almost exactly her pose made it all too clear, just like Ginter's did. if Ginter's hair and pose were enough to make his descendant obvious, why did they give Volo SO much that is *specific* to Cynthia, if he's just another ancestor like everyone else? to me, this all SCREAMS that Volo dies, likely alone and angry, unable to accomplish his goal. but perhaps that Arceus takes pity on him (or through sheer force of his own will) Volo returns as another of the Celestica people, Cynthia, to try again. only this time with a whole new view of the world, with the cynicism of his past self instead being found in Cyrus, raised by people whom clearly Cylene's subtle care and affection was lost on. and that is why his preferred pokemon, obsession with the myths, and theme music stick. they didn't need to go anywhere near that hard, but I think they did so specifically to tell us that Volo isn't just an ancestor like everyone else. he's so, so much more.
Here's a theory about the Arceus/Wyrdeer connection: The Ancient Hero (Alder) actually used a Stantler on his team, and then the whole legend about the hero took place, and after, Arceus blessed Stantler with this new form in his image, for being the Pokémon that finally manages to close the original Space-Time Rift. No evidence, just kinda a cool thought I've had.
There's also the flute/ocarina/wind instrument used in pokemon 2000 to help soothe the different birds and lugia. To add to music being used to calm pokemon, Oracion when it is played on the tower in the Rise of Darkrai. (Beautiful animation in that sequence)
Something I noticed that could be setting something up for possible future updates is that whole quest randomly in the middle of the daybreak update where you have to give mushroom cakes to Mai for no reason and seems that you don’t actually give Mai mushroom cakes but a pokémon disguised as her
I don't know if anyone has talked about it, but it feels like Necrozma originally had a part in Legends Arceus. From the light of the noble pokemon looking very similar to Ultra Necrozma, the whole concept of the space time distortions and the similarity to ultra space. Even the rift has the same color palette as Necrozma! It felt like the original story was that Necrozma, like the moth it is, found the brightest light of them all to feast on, God. Maybe it got launched through Ultra Space back in time. Arceus then calls on you the player to help it out and drags you back in time, before losing out to necrozma. This would explain a lot of the events in the game. Why did Arceus decide to drag you back in time? What was up with the rift? Space time distortions in general and basically the entire main story instead of what we got, which was "Oh Dialga and Palkia are coming (as they do) so a lot of unrelated stuff is happening and will continue to happen even after you stop them". It hasn't got much evidence but I prefer my version over the actual game's story.
@BirdKeeperToby "Wyrdeer and Arceus are connected, but how? Why?..." The 10 Regional Variants/Evolutions were directly blessed by Arceus alongside the Ancient Hero, who might've been an ancestor to Alder. Specifically, the 5 NOBLE Pokémon & 5 "Ride" Pokémon we meet in Legends: Arceus are DESCENDANTS of the same Blessed 10 from the past. This is brought up in regards to at least both Wyrdeer and Growlithe/Arcanine, from Mai and Palina. Then Avalugg can live up to around 1,000~ 1,500 years already, so the Avalugg we see that's GIGANTIC might be the exact same as from the first hero.
SIDE NOTE as a flute player it makes me SO happy seeing the sun/moon flutes being held correctly because you have no idea how often people get it wrong. Even DISNEYLAND had it the wrong way on its a small world. Props to game freak.
Quote from Irida “I do love the flute. It feels as if it’s tones carry to very ends of space.” What if we’re wrong about the order of events. Yes of course we have the creation trio, and Mew as the original ancestor but what if Pokemon and people were separate during the entire creation period? What if music was the first gift given to humanity directly by a Pokemon? Looking over the mythicals, Mew (ancestry), Celebi (peaceful time), Jirachi (wishes), Dexoxys (viruses), Manaphy (bonds between Pokémon), Darkrai (Nightmares), Shaymin (Gratitude), Victini (Victory), Keldeo (Resolve). But Meloetta is Music and Dance. To me all mythical Pokémon before Meloetta represent metaphysical concepts. Similar to how the lake trio represent Will, Emotion, and Knowledge. Perhaps the tangible gift of music was the the very first instance of humans and Pokémon coming together in understanding and respect.
I have a little idea about who Palina's descendant is in the Pokemon world. Palina could be the ancestor to Berg from Unova. They both look pretty darn similar, especially the hair style
Overall a good video with several interesting points. I do have one small problem though. Dialga and Palkia aren’t parts of Arceus, but the body that we call Arceus _is_ part of Arceus. It’s a bit weird. We got a glimpse of Arceus’s true form at the beginning of the game, but the problem there is that its true form is incorporeal, ethereal, so we only saw a mass of light. It was born before matter existed, after all, so it makes sense.
I have quiet a few seriously exciting mini theories that I don’t know if anyone has said or thought of yet, I’ll see if you got any of them after this video, should I make a video of my theories if you haven’t come up with them yet?
Something that I would like to add to the simulation theory is that whenever you start in any game, your character acts like they just came into existence. Theory: The Pokémon world was like our world, which is why real events like the moon landing was talked about, but after the war L.T. Surge was talking about, the government created the Pokémon world as a simulation and each player character is a survivor that was put in the Pokémon world.
Ur welcome for pointing out the celebi shrine lol Also why are the arceus plates so Tiny in the games but so massive in the anime maybe there’s a theory there somewhere
@Bird Keeper Toby here's some brainstorming for you on Flutes in pokemon games - 1. Music has gone hand in hand with spirituality, myths and legends since ancient times, and concept of magical instruments isn't u heard of either. While I can't think of any place that outright says so, I would not be surprised if there are symbolic connections between flutes and legendaries. 2. What I find likewise interesting in Legends Arceus is the abundance of pokemon one could say resemble musical instuments or roles with music at the Coronet highlands -- Bronzong (bell) & Bronzor (tambourine), chimecho & Chingling (chimes and bells); and maybe Misdreavous and Mismagius (...choir/vocals?) Come to mind, as well as dancing clefairy under the moonlight. ( I wouldn't be surprised if a story would be made one day about a man who hollowed out a berry tree branch so that they may join the pokemons' musics, but that is hyperbole.) 3. The fact that flutes in the games cure a variety of status conditions does suggest some supernatural healing properties that could be interpreted as divine. If you told me you had magical flutes that could cure ailments in real life I'd call you an evangelist at best and a quack at worst, so the fact that pokemon respond favourably to the songs of flutes, (except for a pair hibernating snorlax blocking fuschia city) speaks for itself. ...that's all I got, anyway.
I never realised the flute craze until now! Wonder if it was the favourite instrument of one of the creators or at least another nod to Legend of Zelda! Thanks Birdkeeper Toby, this was perfect to listen too while I was with my own pokemon (real life turtwigs!)💚

About the flutes, I like to think that the sound of the flute is like when feline purrs, they heal themselves by purring. I think the flute sound might be similar but instead of triggering healing it triggers evolution or in the case of Snorlax it triggers enough stress that it needs to fight
The reason flutes/musical instruments are used as a means to communicate with the gods probably have something to do with how soundwaves appear on devices that can visually represent what soundwaves look like, they would appear as a mass of rings around the flute player, as well as sounds having a history of having healing, communicative, divine, blessing and battle driving effects depending on the sound and the intent. The Drums of War for example driving soldiers to fight harder for their country and beliefs. An idea for the Pokemon Universe would be that these specific instruments generate a special kind of soundwave audible no matter how far away to the particular Pokemon Deity they're connected to.
Something I've not seen anybody mention since the trailer days is the fact that the Noble Pokemon battle theme is similar to the ultra beast battle theme
I have a theory that Cogita's house is so green because of the celestica people being the original people of Hisui meaning they were probably the ones who named it Hisui which means Jade
I’m going to assume the reason we don’t see Arceus’ “true form” is because like so many interpretations of a holy or diety figure, we as humans could not mentally comprehend it.
Quick theory about the apparent commonality of Shiny Pokémon in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Shiny Pokémon don’t know about how sought after they would become so they wouldn’t be hiding as much as they would in the modern day.
Bruh I NEVER caught that there was a mention of Sinjoh in Legends: Arceus, holy crap have I missed some stuff. That's awesome! I really hope one day we get a DLC that let's us go to the Sinjoh Ruins and who knows, maybe at the end of the DLC story, you see Ho-Oh fly off into the distance, as a throwback to the anime and movie adaptation of the Kanto arc that expanded on Ho-Oh's lore. This would hint at an eventual Legends: Ho-Oh game.
I knew I couldn't be the only person to notice the similarities between Wyrdeer and Arceus. I just noticed that and pointed it out to my sister a couple weeks ago.
Why are the Electrode and Sneasler statues on the wrong sides in the temple? It looks like all the ride pokemon are on the left when you go in, and nobles on the right, but Electrode and Sneasler are on the wrong sides...
Idea for the Flute Theory Music is the 1 Universal form of Communication in the Pokémon World. You mentioned all the different Fluits, there's also the Unknown, which, tho they resemble Letters and are Psychic Type, don't speak, they have a Specific Cry like any other Pokémon, which of course includes their appearance in the SinJo Event. This could also potentially explain why Meloetta is a Mythical Pokémon, I mean, why would Music be so important to this Universe, but that's going a bit further than needed at the moment.
My first thought about werdeer was that maybe stantler back in the ancient times evolved to try and imitate arceus as a defense mechanism because as we've found out races was more active on the past rather than modern-day day shinnoh and jhoto and more pokemon would know of arceus'es existence and if they saw a somewhat similar silhouette they would leave i alone. i know its a stretch but its a fun thought :)
Here are 7 theories for PLA I’ve been thinking about. Sorry if some of these have been mentioned already; I don’t think any of been mentioned by Toby in a video yet: • Connection between Arceus and Unown (1): It has been well established that Arceus and Unown are connected via previous games/movies. PLA continues this trend. Unown’s sole move “Hidden Power” was buffed in the same way Arceus’s Judgement was buffed, allowing both to change type to be super effective against the opponent. • Connection between Arceus and Unown (2): In PLA, two Pokemon talk directly to the trainer to guide him/her through the story. Arceus talks to you through the technologically advanced Arc Phone and the weaker Unown talk to you by adding an Unown page with location hints to your primitive paper Pokedex. • Connection between Arceus and Unown (3): To my knowledge, PLA is the first game with main series mechanics that the Unown have been found outside of their ruins/caves. It is very strange for them to leave their home in the Solaceon Ruins. However, it seems they are doing this to help you complete Arceus’s mission. By sending you on a treasure hunt across Hisui, they are forcing you to visit corners of the map that you may not have otherwise gone to. This helps you to come across the rare Pokemon species needed to complete the Pokedex. Furthermore, by allowing you to find them one-by-one, they guarantee that you can find them all (which is needed to complete the Pokedex) without having to rely on the RNG of the correct letters visiting the ruins when you are there. So basically, they do this fun hunt to help you complete Arceus’s mission of the Pokedex. Once they have finished their tasks, they start appearing in the Solaceon Ruins again, content to live in their home once more now that they have nothing left to teach you. • Connection between Arceus and Unown (4): Taking the first three connections above into account, it seems to show that the Unown act as weaker servants/messengers/angels of Arceus, imbued by Arceus with some of its power and purpose. • Hisuian Typhlosion: The Pokemon website and the PLA Pokedex say that Typhlosion eats “wayward”, “lost”, and “forsaken” spirits and purifies them when doing so. The website also mentions that it attacks with 108 ghost flames. 108 is a very specific number, usually used as the number of spirits that make up Spiritomb. My theory is that Hisuian Typhlosion may be a predator of Spiritomb, eating its 108 spirits and then using the purified/subdued spirits in its attacks. Possibly it eats the odd keystone while eating Spiritomb, which is why the spirits stay with Typhlosion instead of just moving on after being purified, since the keystone binds the spirits even after being purified. This would also explain why Hisui has enough Spiritomb to have multiple mass outbreaks but they are very rare in present Sinnoh. Perhaps after Laventon and Space-Time warps brought Cyndaquil to Hisui, the Typhlosion hunted Spiritomb to near extinction. • Adaman and Irida: I believe these two may be descendants of the two Galarian princes that teamed up with Zamazenta and Zacian to defeat the Darkest Day. I know myself and others have commented before that Adaman bears a strong resemblance to Zamazenta and Irida to Zacian. In addition to this, both Adaman and Irida exhibit strong leadership potential, which would be expected of descendants of royalty. Finally, both clan leaders have strong connection to Eeveelutions. As it turns out, Hammerlocke, the royal city of Galar, is right next to the Lake of Outrage. This Lake happens to be home to all the Eeveelutions. • Volo: Maybe instead of being a time-traveler, he is an immortal, like AZ. Giratina is depicted as the ruler of the afterlife and the incarnation of the spirit [of life]. It would not surprise me at all that if any Pokemon could make someone immortal, it would be the original Giratina. This would also explain Volo's end of game comment "Someday, I'll ... stand before Arceus at last-No, I will CONQUER it! No matter how many years, how many decades, how many centuries it takes me!" This comment doesn't much make sense if he just time-traveled once, since why should he assume he can survive many centuries or time travel again? Though I wouldn't be surprised if he is an immortal who accidentally got sucked into the original time-space rift and time-traveled that one time.
Another connection between the divine and music is in Chronicles of Narnia. In The Magician's Nephew--another ancient-era prequel =) --Aslan creates Narnia by singing. Fun thoughts Toby!
My theory about the shards is that the shards are literally pieces of broken reality solidified Imagine the Pokemon timeline like a sheet of paper, to the left is old Hisue, to the right is modern Sinnoh, you fold the page in half and connect the left and right side by cutting a hole into the paper, in this metaphor the shards are the piece of scrap paper you are left with after you cut that hole to connect the left and the right
there's a forest calyrex moved according to the pokedex the area of the forest if you look at the sinnoh map ramanas park is where the forest is in hisui and the moss rock is in different locations what if calyrex moved the forest east of ramanas island which is in the wrong place
Calyrex moved a forest *in Galar*, due to a dangerous event, aka the darkest day, and it's implied that this forest was the Slumbering Weald, that once sat where Stow-On-Side now is. this is why the fields of our starting home has a strange thick forest full of fairy, psychic, and dark types (and the dear legendary dogs) and Stow-On-Side is a sudden desert land in the middle of otherwise lush greenery, and very suddenly juts into a(nother) thick forest, full of fairy, psychic, and dark types, and is also home to the mural that immortalized what happened there.
@@Moon-Vixen I USED to think this same idea. I've actually seen more evidence for a DIFFERENT forested area... I am NOW almost CERTAIN the forest that Calyrex moved to save from an incoming meteor is ACTUALLY the forest that existed within the Giant Chasm in Unova. This would explain why there's so many Unovan Pokémon with Variants in Galar, then the Forest it moved COULD be the Slumbering Weald, as both areas nearly are enveloped in year-long fog, have connections to Legendary Pokémon that were "banished", and Unovan Pokémon can be found within both areas. (Specifically Munna & Musharna) Kyurem was shot into space from the Original Dragon splitting into Reshiram and Zekrom, then came crashing back to the World in Unova.
Something ive been thinking about a ton and havent seen anyone talk about is the fact that with the new Origin Forme Palkia and Dialga, those two plus Giratina's Altered Forme and Arceus complete the four horseman of the apocolypse. with Palkia being the Red horse of war(also because its head looks like that of a centurion helmet), Giratina being Death due to its rather pale color and it being the basically devil of the pokemon world, Dialga being famine as now it has a much more dark color bordering on black like the horse and famines are a long time without much food, and finally Arceus being the white horse of Conquest mainly due to its color and how that horseman is usually interpreted as Jesus himself, also it being a major part of the game Pokemon: Conquest. but this could just be a coincidence.
In regards to the flutes, I think back to the myth that calls upon all Pokémon to be ready to appear before/help humans. Perhaps it’s as simple as humans both in ancient and modern times needed a way to reach certain Pokémon and simply trained them to recognize the call of a specific flute, in the same way we train our pets to recognize certain calls or motions. And now the playing of a flute is simply another one of the ways a human can call upon a Pokémon for help. Maybe this was a method of call that originated with Arceus, Arceus gave the Celestica people the Azure flute to call upon it and they simply copy/pasted the idea and started making more flutes for more Pokémon
Pokemon has always made subtle commentary of historical events in the plot of their games: Organized crime in Red, Blue with Japan's Yakuza empire. Then generational crime with Gold and Silver and the downfall of the Yakuza in the 90s. The rise of Environmentalism in the early 2000s with Ruby and Sapphire. Followed by the controversy of big world Religion in Diamond and Pearl. Then the gray nature of world geopolitics with Black and White (set in the US, for good measure). Then it documented the rise of Hard Science with the Higgs particles in Central Europe with X and Y. Immediately followed by more Applied science of Wormholes and Multiple dimensions with Sun and Moon. Then the downfall of the British empire in the late 2010s and the fight for Clean, Safe Energy in Sword and Shield. This Arceus game is about new discoveries in Science with the nature of Light. From being particles that can literally travel time and space, to Light Waveform with Scarlet (Infrared) and Violet (Ultraviolet).
I've had the idea that Arceus split like original Kyurem did, and the husk equivalent to modern Kyurem is Giratina. All interaction with Arceus is it from the past before it split to make everything.
One thing that I've only managed to give half a thought to is the symbols around the abdomens of Arceus, Palkia and Dialga. Dialga's seems to be hands of a clock and Palkia's could something like 'all of space'. I've been wondering how/if the three of them could fit together. Didn't manage to find anyone discussing the new symbols for the origin forms.
It would be awesome if the shards were smashed rgb lights (To mimic that spear pillar-this-is-a-video-game thing going on with dialga and palkia in dp) but then you’ve got the yellow shard which throws it off
The mention of flutes reminds me of the sound based moves that have weird effects that can't really be written off as just making a loud or jarring/soothing noise. Perish Song's ability to completely faint a Pokemon is a powerful example of sound/music directly impacting their infinity/life energy. And Heal Bell's ability to cure status ailments is something that man made flutes have been able to emulate (though to a lesser, more specific degree). So these special flutes and music may be an ancient way of calling upon the abilities of Pokemon, or replicating their effects. *Shrugs* You wanted my thoughts on the matter, so there they are. Sadly, I don't really have any evidence to back it up, and it's not enough to make a theory out of, but there it is.
Hi Bird Keeper Toby. Big fan of your content. You have inspired me to make my own theories. I wanted to get your thoughts on a mini theory I have had about LA. The theory essentially noils down to Roark/Byron not having any noteworthy ancestors but I think that Kochika from the Daybreak expansion who is a part of the Alpha Onix request and begins building Sinnoh's underground may be one of their ancestors. In fact I believe that Kochika could be the Underground Man as the Underground Man states that he was the first to work on the underground in D/P/Pt. This would mean Legened Arceus takes place a lot closer to modern times then previously believed. It is definitely a very bottom of the barrel theory though but would love to hear your thoughts!
My thoughts on each topic: 1: I believe it is possible that some of the Hisuian and Alpha Pokemon exist due to the Space-time Rifts/Distortions/Anomalies. Wyrdeer is no exception. It's also worth noting that the Noble Pokemon were given blessings by Arceus itself. Stantler are Normal type, but have long been linked to Psychic moves. Wyrdeer gains the Psychic Typing, but only because it used Agile Psishield Bash 20 times. Psishield Bash and Agile Style moves vanish from the Pokemon world over time, but only after the closing of the Space-time Rift, as do Wyrdeer in general. Could Arceus have been giving Stantler knowledge of the move, but stopped soon after the rift sealed? And could it be this influence that made Wyrdeer gain traites of Arceus? As for Alpha Pokemon, they are larger in size in much the same way as Totem Pokemon. Totem Pokemon grew larger due to the Z-Energy they're exposed to. So we know that a Pokemon's size can be influenced by certain energies, meaning that the effects of anomalies, distortions, rifts or whatever can likely affect them as well. 2. Shards are interesting. There are only a few shard colors, with yellow missing in Legends Arceus. The remaining 3 are all the same colors that fly around in the Distortions/Rifts/Anomalies; Red, Blue, and Green. These aren't only the colors of Gen 1 games, but the three colors of light used to produce color on most color TVs and displays. Others also incorporate yellow, which is also another Gen 1 version and a Shard. Could it be that the shards are evidence of damage to the Pokemon Multiverse? Could it be more evidence of the simulation theory? Could the sky be falling? Let's keep in mind that the skies above Hisui are... Well they're rudimentary. Take some time and observe them. They aren't all that complex. However, it can wildly change appearance due to disturbances in reality. Also, the shards are ingredients in Star Pieces, apparently able to bind Stardust into a solidified form. 3. Many religions use music as a means of communication with dieties. Also the Pokemon Lords are blessed by Arceus. In spite of the vast distances or even existing in other dimensions, it would appear that these Pokemon can sense the sound of the Flutes through perhaps a quantum level bond. We also know that the player's smartphone was altered by Arceus and capable of receiving important information from Arceus itself. Someone please draw Arceus at a computer putting together instructions for the Player. 4. I believe you're overthinking the whole Shrine thing. Shrines are made for many of the Kami(Gods) of Japan. Legendary Pokemon are depicted similarly to Kami within the games. This also places Giratina in the realm of Yokai, as Kami not respected or celebrated properly can become Yokai. Yokai can, however, become Kami again if this is corrected. True, it does go much deeper than this, but you all can watch Gaijin Goombah's stuff for more on that. 5. We've been seeing evidence of the Pokemon Franchise being a simulation for a long time. A Matrix reference just makes sense at this point. Also Cylene was more talking about continuing the Galaxy Team's legacy through her family. Still, Cyrus does unfortunately use the information collected by the Player and the Galaxy Team for very un-Galaxy Team plans. Yeah, we are laying the ground work for Team Galactic's crimes. Oh. And Sanqua's painting isn't what's at the church. It's shown in Legends Arceus to be the image from the beginning of the story of Diamond/Pearl/Platinum at the end of the "Search for the Red Gyarados" show.
1. Arceus uses the ultra worm holes as its "1000 hands" across time and space, residing in the centre of the universe. The Wyrdeer (sp?) were probably just forms that Arceus was able to become to keep a close connection between people and Pokemon. For the shards, we only get them in four colours (red, blue, green, yellow) and that makes me believe that were the physical leftovers when time/space became broken or clashed. Going back to Pokemon is just a simulation theory, 3/4 are the primary colours of light while the 3/4 are also the general primary colours. Maybe it's just saying that time (green, red, blue, colours of light) is something non-physical while space is represented by the main primary colours (red, blue, yellow). When combined both physical and non-physical elements, you get pieces/fragments of Arceus' 1000 arms...? 2. Or maybe this is just a call back to the origins of the Pokemon series (Red and Green versions specifically for Japan while NA + world got Red and Blue, along with Yellow version). We never seen shards for the Pixie plate (pink), Earth plate (brown), or any other colours? 3. Flutes. Japanese flutes come in different sizes, shapes, and have different uses for different ceremonies. For example, depending on the type of bamboo used, which is dependent on the specific region's bamboo, you have different flutes being made. Not sure if you've lived in Japan, or explored any music shops there, but you'll find tons of different styles depending on the region you're in. Since Pokemon games were originally based on Japan's 4 regions, I would assume that the Pokemon company didn't expect to grow this large. Hence, we they just made a flute for each region and continued to make them for other regions as they were traditionally used in Zen ceremonies, songs for the emperor, wedding ceremonies, etc. 4. Shrines from a cultural perspective were to show respect and love for various deities across Japan. Similar builds probably just existed for the simplicity that most were built in the same way as they traditionally did not use nails or metals when constructing ancient buildings, temples, or shrines until metal/steel production became a thing. For a lore perspective, what if that Dragon tribe (can't recall the name, but I think they were introduced in OR/AS) were the original ones that built all the shrines and stuff across the Pokemon world? They lived in harmony with Pokemon/nature and built the shrines across the land to show their respect (or to seal extremely dangerous Pokemon away)? When you spoke about the different colours, the first thing that came to mind were the different types of seasonal draft beers you can get in Hokkaido (white, pink, blue, and green) based on the types of ingredients only found in Hokkaido/Sinnoh lol.
When I first played diamond I assumed that the shards were uses to create the plates somehow. Like I thought there was an npc or something that you could trade with if you had enough shards.
A small little theory of mine is that The frenzied Noble Pokemon are somehow connected to The Totem Pokemon we see in S/M an US/UM. Same higher status among locals, same warden type care, same stat raise, same size raise, and same yellow aura. I've got not a clue as to how it could be connected and there is a huge logic leap, If I do a little bit more research I can figure something out. I could use a little help though, Ay Toby?
I personally think the removal of Frozen an sleep Isn’t just gameplay since it’s in older times maybe Pokémon are still developing their power (which would explain why not all moves are available in the game) and maybe ice types and psychic types aren’t strong enough to completely freeze or send another creature to sleep
Just something that I thought about when I was in a rift: What if the shards were pieces of other plates, and Arceus has time traveled as well, bringing the plates from BDSP and SSHG into the past, but breaking, leaving them as shards and the ones you get are the past plates which react to Arceus appearing, therefore finding a 'worthy' spot or user to protect the plates for you to collect?
I have a thought which is that maybe Cogita & Volo are both ancient in their own ways, paralleling Diagla & Palkia, this stems from the fact that Cogita seems wise beyond her years, she is the last of her peoples who are a peoples with no known settlements in the events of legends that are not ancient ruins beyond the one hut at the retreat, no members of the diamond or pearl clan that are old mention any parentage Cogita might have and so I believe she took a slow path of immortality similar to AZ, where as Volo I believe may have once been connected to Cogita but due to his obsession was jumped through time to Ginkos landing and was aided by them when found perhaps getting his brain scrambled along the way explaining why Cogita doesn't miss a step when it comes to him, while this isn't probably a thing I enjoy the parallels of one travelling the road of time the other of space
Here's a possible theory, most of the Hisuin form Pokémon could just be Sinnohian forms too, since nothing from past gen 4 has been seen in Sinnoh (Zorua, Braviary etc) and any new evolutions could have just been lost due to their evolution methods being lost. Some of them like Sneasel, Growlithe and Voltorb can be explained as just being different due to climates and general real world evolution, but Typhlosion being different is harder to explain.
I think the Arceus and wyrdeer theory is pretty interesting they could be related but as you said what we see Arceus as is a form Btw I met you at megacon and I wanted to say thank you
Here is a small theory of mine: In BDSP you can get the Azure Flute as an item in your room after you get Arceus in PLA. The theory is, it's in your room because you brought the flute from the past, from Hisui to Sinnoh, and you can access the Hall of Origin in BDSP because you got that permission in PLA. You are intended to be the same person in PLA and BDSP.
Thanks for your patience on videos ^_^ Much more to come :D
To be perfectly honest I think the flutes are connected, either by the material they are made from or by the marker of them
I really enjoyed this one. Great job!
Possibly :D
Agreed
In Legends: Arceus, the shards are shown to be pieces of comets by reconstructing them through crafting.
I personally want know more about Coginitas people the Celestica People,We see the ruins they built and the Celestica People clearly have a connection to Arecus.
Also the fact that the "humans" of this world aren't called humans, but Celestics
I really like the connection you made with the flutes, communicating with the gods through the very breath they gave you.
They love the flute. Rillaboom must be sad.
Was about to post this!!!
Wow, both are amazing
Lol psychic trainers
I like that these are theories but also in a way conversation starters. An invitation to take those theories and run with them!
I always kinda imagine that Arceus's true form is a cosmic entity that cant even be seen by Humans. Like an Elder God type thing where it is beyond a pysical form.
I thought you could have the beta form be the real thing and using the form we know as its many arms
Cogita's Green interior goes well with Ancient Hero/Alder Green clothes on the picture.
7:33 it’s obvious. Celebi somehow gave Cogita enough lifespan to see the arrival of the one with the mission.
Bumping this!
Then there’s the ocarina, a type of flute, used by Melody in Power of One. This song she plays being the only thing that can restore Lugia’s strength and tap into the power of the three treasures to bring back balance to the world.
Opening of hearts, does this confirm Sonic is a pokemon????
What if the glowy light at the start of PLA is Arceus' true form?
I’m so excited for all the Hisuian Pokémon to be in gen 9. Many people believe that these Pokémon can’t be in future games because this game take place in the past, even though it states that Hisuian Zorua came after the unovan form after being pushed out of Unova and not being able to survive the harsh conditions thus gaining the ghost type. Many of the Hisuian Pokémon came after thier original forms.
Hisuian Zoroark is also in promo material for gen 9
Have those people not seen the Scarlet and Violet trailer?
@@joshuamc96 Some people think that they can only be accessible through some “temporal forms” like mega evolution and literally makes zero sense when half of them came after the original form in the timeline and lore. Plus these new Pokémon have full pokadex numbers and everything they aren’t just gonna be restricted full Pokémon to some temporary form in battles.
I don't think they will all be in the main game at least but it would be cool if they were all in there
I personally like the idea of loose threads that don't really go anywhere currently, because it gives TPC and GF a few extra things to tie the world together and create the feeling of a unified Pokémon world and timeline.
Wasn’t the Shard Guy a reference to the clown’s game in DPP before getting the Pokétch?
Something I noticed that could be setting something up for possible future updates is that whole quest randomly in the middle of the daybreak update where you have to give mushroom cakes to Mai for no reason and seems that you don’t actually give Mai mushroom cakes but a pokémon disguised as her
Most likely a Hisuian Zorua or Zoroark!
can we talk how it’s really saddening that spiky ear pichu is forever stuck? But maybe we’ll have it come back if we ever get another Legends game
@BirdKeeperToby
"Wyrdeer and Arceus are connected, but how? Why?..."
The 10 Regional Variants/Evolutions were directly blessed by Arceus alongside the Ancient Hero, who might've been an ancestor to Alder.
I'm just gonna have to break it to him. Wyrdeer and Arceus have as much of a connection as Ness and Sans do.
Quote from Irida “I do love the flute. It feels as if it’s tones carry to very ends of space.”
What if we’re wrong about the order of events.
Arceus is like the biblical accurate angels in it's original. "Be not afraid". Humanity would be overwhelmed in it's true presence! 😱
Love the Christian symbolism in Pokemon Legends Arceus.
And the flute from the Pokémon movie with Lugia!
I finally caught arceus a few days ago
Aye congrats!
Hooray! I'm digging these. Nice.💯
Aw ty ^_^
Nice Sinnoh pun
@@pickedceasar1216 Oh yeah! The Grand Underground!
Glad to see you advertising your tiktok. I found you about a month ago on there and it's really fun!
Something that I would like to add to the simulation theory is that whenever you start in any game, your character acts like they just came into existence.
Theory: The Pokémon world was like our world, which is why real events like the moon landing was talked about, but after the war L.T. Surge was talking about, the government created the Pokémon world as a simulation and each player character is a survivor that was put in the Pokémon world.
can't lie i kinda hope unbound or what ever name they give the more powerful arceus form is like the beta design, ethirial and other worldy.
Ur welcome for pointing out the celebi shrine lol
Also why are the arceus plates so Tiny in the games but so massive in the anime maybe there’s a theory there somewhere
@Bird Keeper Toby here's some brainstorming for you on Flutes in pokemon games -
( I wouldn't be surprised if a story would be made one day about a man who hollowed out a berry tree branch so that they may join the pokemons' musics, but that is hyperbole.)
I love your Theories! Even the silly ones 🙂
Wyrdeer's horns look a bit like Meltan's head. 😀
I see what you mean :D
Came here to say this 😆
The reason flutes/musical instruments are used as a means to communicate with the gods probably have something to do with how soundwaves appear on devices that can visually represent what soundwaves look like, they would appear as a mass of rings around the flute player, as well as sounds having a history of having healing, communicative, divine, blessing and battle driving effects depending on the sound and the intent.
I got it, the flutes are a foreshadow of them bringing in... the SOUND TYPE!!! lol
Shiny Pokémon don’t know about how sought after they would become so they wouldn’t be hiding as much as they would in the modern day.
ohhh interesting idea :D
5 hisuian hypotheses
Idea for the Flute Theory
Music is the 1 Universal form of Communication in the Pokémon World.
Perhaps flutes and by extension music was the first method of Pokémon training, a method taught to mankind by Arceus himself.
Here are 7 theories for PLA I’ve been thinking about. Sorry if some of these have been mentioned already; I don’t think any of been mentioned by Toby in a video yet:
• Connection between Arceus and Unown (1): It has been well established that Arceus and Unown are connected via previous games/movies.
I love your Pokémon theories keep up the good 👍😊and also I love watching your videos
you got a like and a new subscriber, just because pokemon and zelda are your favorite franchises xD
Another connection between the divine and music is in Chronicles of Narnia. In The Magician's Nephew--another ancient-era prequel =) --Aslan creates Narnia by singing. Fun thoughts Toby!
Decided to look it up, apparently the oldest musical instrument in existence is a 60,000 year old Flute.
My theory about the shards is that the shards are literally pieces of broken reality solidified
Imagine the Pokemon timeline like a sheet of paper, to the left is old Hisue, to the right is modern Sinnoh, you fold the page in half and connect the left and right side by cutting a hole into the paper, in this metaphor the shards are the piece of scrap paper you are left with after you cut that hole to connect the left and the right
there's a forest calyrex moved according to the pokedex the area of the forest if you look at the sinnoh map ramanas park is where the forest is in hisui and the moss rock is in different locations what if calyrex moved the forest east of ramanas island which is in the wrong place
@@Moon-Vixen 1 where did the land go then 2 it is just said it moved a forest to save it from a meteor
@@setsunian5283 yes eternatus came as a meteor
@@Moon-Vixen
I USED to think this same idea.
(Specifically Munna & Musharna)
Kyurem was shot into space from the Original Dragon splitting into Reshiram and Zekrom, then came crashing back to the World in Unova.
@@Crazyturtle879 but a meteor can be just a regular meteor
"Bottom of the barrel" and yet these make more sense than the time travel theories.
A video about origin dialga/palkia would be great!
These are quite interesting 🤔
Nice 👍 vid
*Lillie play her sun / moonflute* I have the power to help and empower Nebby.
Pokemon has always made subtle commentary of historical events in the plot of their games:
Organized crime in Red, Blue with Japan's Yakuza empire.
The Wind Waker isn't a musical instrument. It's a conductor's baton.
I've had the idea that Arceus split like original Kyurem did, and the husk equivalent to modern Kyurem is Giratina. All interaction with Arceus is it from the past before it split to make everything.
The llama form is Arceus’s avatar
death battle cast came up with that name idea
Similar to darkseid from dc’s concept
Wait, Arceus is the Alpha Pokemon… and Darkseid is Associated with the Omega symbol, and has the powers of the Omega Effect and Omega Beams…
@@keeganguyer5237 lol
One thing that I've only managed to give half a thought to is the symbols around the abdomens of Arceus, Palkia and Dialga. Dialga's seems to be hands of a clock and Palkia's could something like 'all of space'. I've been wondering how/if the three of them could fit together. Didn't manage to find anyone discussing the new symbols for the origin forms.
I'm fully convinced that Arceus true form is Omnipotent and uncapturable and can't be humanly comprehendable
My thoughts on each topic:
1: I believe it is possible that some of the Hisuian and Alpha Pokemon exist due to the Space-time Rifts/Distortions/Anomalies.
You should do a video on the eevee in the anime. There’s a theory there might be a new eeveelution in the anime/upcoming game
It’s not really a theory, just hope/hype
HE'S BACK
The ride pokemon are a single ditto that transforms as you move across hisui.
There’s also that weird doctor outside of Jubilife Village after you beat the game who has no name. WHAT’S HIS DEAL???
Just something that I thought about when I was in a rift: What if the shards were pieces of other plates, and Arceus has time traveled as well, bringing the plates from BDSP and SSHG into the past, but breaking, leaving them as shards and the ones you get are the past plates which react to Arceus appearing, therefore finding a 'worthy' spot or user to protect the plates for you to collect?
I have a question what flute do think I use the Sun or Moon flute? Now I’m wondering if I’m connected to Mai. Lol.
always wondered about the pokemon statues in the hisui region and the pokemon statues in bdsp in the underground they never explained
I wonder if the flutes might be related to a new typing like a potential sound or music type. Scarlet and violet might soon have a new typing.
Im making a pokemon fan made game and giving arceus a new form and why the form we know of isnt the original for of arceus
I have a thought which is that maybe Cogita & Volo are both ancient in their own ways, paralleling Diagla & Palkia, this stems from the fact that Cogita seems wise beyond her years, she is the last of her peoples who are a peoples with no known settlements in the events of legends that are not ancient ruins beyond the one hut at the retreat, no members of the diamond or pearl clan that are old mention any parentage Cogita might have and so I believe she took a slow path of immortality similar to AZ, where as Volo I believe may have once been connected to Cogita but due to his obsession was jumped through time to Ginkos landing and was aided by them when found perhaps getting his brain scrambled along the way explaining why Cogita doesn't miss a step when it comes to him, while this isn't probably a thing I enjoy the parallels of one travelling the road of time the other of space
not to mention the flute to communicate with Lugia in Pokemon 2000
Trueeeee
Here's a possible theory, most of the Hisuin form Pokémon could just be Sinnohian forms too, since nothing from past gen 4 has been seen in Sinnoh (Zorua, Braviary etc) and any new evolutions could have just been lost due to their evolution methods being lost.
Some of them like Sneasel, Growlithe and Voltorb can be explained as just being different due to climates and general real world evolution, but Typhlosion being different is harder to explain.
I think the Arceus and wyrdeer theory is pretty interesting they could be related but as you said what we see Arceus as is a form
Btw I met you at megacon and I wanted to say thank you
So, with your connections to celebi and cogita, could that be a hint towards the next legends game? Perhaps Pokémon Legends: Celebi?
