//About me:
What’s up! I am a musician and I love music. I have played the bass for about 15 years. I’ve played for a few gospel groups in the area such as TruePraise and Afellowship. I’ve had other privileges of playing for: @VeshawnMitchell @GenetterBradley @MauretteBrownClark @LemmieBattles of the Chicago Mass Choir just to name a few. I’ve also opened for @VanessaBellArmstrong @IsaiahDThomas @NeilRoberson. I am a mere bass player among very talented bass players and musicians. I am always willing to learn, after all, that’s what life is about.

Her little laugh is just infectious.
What an amazing moment in history. She played one of her simpler songs. I've seen her work hard and tear up some songs that lifelong musicians would choke on. Add that smile, killer. We will see more of Ellen in the future, no doubt.
Steve Harvey's best episode.
Seeing her reaction was priceless, OK so I had a tear in my eye too.
Same
Keep them Rolling 😂.
She is a legend coming up.
Bootsy bass playing was on another level, his bass playing would move anybody to feel the soil.
Ellen is precious, her smile could melt the coldest heart. Hats off to her Mom & Dad, what a fantastic Job.
God Bless!
Ellen is Absolutely my #1 favorite bass player. I love her beautiful sweet smile and that awesome cute laugh.
When I was nine years old, I could not dial a rotary phone with both hands.
I lost my musician ( guitar player) husband years ago. For a long time it was hard for me to listen to music and there’s been pockets of time where I have not as soon as I heard Alan music has been revived in my heart my husband’s bass player gave me a love for the bass. After hearing Ellen for the first time tonight (May 14, 2023) after many tears, watching her videos and watching this commentary and her on Steve Harvey, I feel completely musically revitalized I think God for showing me to watch all this, and thank you, Ellen!❤
Ellen will remember that interview for ever. She is so talented and a joy to watch.
Been following her development with the bass for the better part of a year now and this young girl is truly something special. Her dad, Hovak, has legitimately kept the spotlight on her and involves her in everything. I look forward to seeing what the future brings for this bright young lady.
She's awesome. Dad is her teacher. Love them both.
This kid has the most adorable laugh. I recognize her talent but it's her smile that brings so much joy
Ellen is a joy to watch. Her father is a great role model for her and supports her growth with loving care and lets her have fun expanding her talents. Her father plays in a prog band with the great Victor Wooten!
She's got mad skills and limitless talent for sure, but it's the smile that gets every time. And her excitement at meeting her heroes is so genuine and so infectious! Ellen may play like an old pro, but she is still a sweet, unpretentious little girl.
The expressions on Ellen's face after Earth wind and Fire came on the screen was priceless and shows how humble she is.
I'm an old and sometimes tired drummer. I was beginning to lose my faith in true musicianship with what they call music today. When I came across Ellen, my faith candle was reignited. Her manner and presence is infectious, not to mention her amazing skill on the bass. With her inspiration, I bought new heads and sticks and found my groove again. God bless Ellen!
I've been following Ellen forever. I am proud of her and her father.
She is amazing. She made me pick my bass up again !
Thank you so much for featuring this Steve Harvey segment. I’ve been watching Ellen’s channel for many months, she has the Bootsy image in her intro but I never knew about or saw this show appearance. So special. She was so moved by these legends. Her dad was clearly also moved and I encourage anyone to visit her channel. Watching the respectful joyful vibe they share is equal to the bass. Oh yeah, she played here a simpler song, written for her by Yousician. I sort of wish she’d done a montage of her favorite funk and rock classics, the crowd would have gone wild.
Thanks BigSwole for reviewing this! I've been following Ellen's channel for a couple years now, and I had no idea she was on Steve Harvey's show. Pretty cool that he researched ahead of time and got Bootsy and EW&F on live to give her a well-deserved shout out! I got a little choked up myself!!😢😄 She has come a *LONG* way in just a few short years, playing with the likes of Steve Vai, Pentatonix, Yoyoka Soma, Davie504, and more! She is already a force to be reckoned with in the world of bass musicians.😍🎵🎶👍
If they weren't geographically incompatible she could be in a band with Nandi Bushell.
@@RedBud315 Good point! Of course, she's already worked with Yoyoka Soma, but then again, Yoyoka is currently living in L.A.
Impossible to watch her without smiling!
bootsy....king of Bass Funk...ellen ...wow what a talent! love to see old school...with the young people. God bless ya'll
I get tears seeing her play and interact in general but here on the Steve Harvey Show watching her reaction to these legendary artists was just so much worth watching 😅
This was fantastic! Some of the greatest musicians acknowledging sweet and talented Ellen! Thank you Steve Harvey for making that happen.
She is amazing. Always makes me smile. Talented girl.❤
Tears, tears. Tears of joy. May God continue to bless and protect you Ellen
Mom and Dad great job!!
Ellen is funky and she knows these incredible musicians. She plays their music. What a treat for her to have these icons recognize her and say hi. I think she had to get herself together there for a minute...
you did a great thing. this young girl is truly fantastic....she will bring happy tears to your eyes.
This is goosebumps and fills a lot of hearts 👍🏼👏🏼✌🏼🌈
unbelivable ! what a talented child her parents must be super proud .
I discovered Ellen a few weeks ago, and yes, she shines. Her personality is way up there.
I love her personality and skill.
If I got to meet Bootsy Collins and EWF I'd be in tears, too.
Great video man. Made this 71 yr old man's eyes leak for real! her tears showed her love for Bootsy #1 she said, and Earth Wind and Fire; she was moved that they even knew her name! Her music heroes "KNEW HER NAME" and said she was good! Fantastic, Ellen will go far and carry the music torch forward! Ellen is a treasure, growing up appreciating "REAL" music. I would pay money to go see her play, her enthusiasm, appreciation and sheer talent moves an audience, we can feel the love in her smile and talent. ty great video from SE Texas Bear :)
My dude.. Respect!! You exposed this talented young lady to a new audience. I picked up my first bass at 50 yrs old, subscribed to her page a while back. So it's never too late to learn. Oh yeah.. Bruh, You can't be knocking today's music... without sending me an invite🤣
she is 11 now and yes, what an amazing bass player she is.
Wonderful Blessings To This Beautiful Dear, She Loves The Funk And U Can't Get Better Than Earth Wind And Fire And Boosty Collins. The Look On Her Face When She Sees The Greatest Band The Elements Is Priceless ❤️🙏😢💯
Her smile just lights up any room and her giggle is so delightful!! I just love her and shy plays so well!!!
Never saw this before. Loved the surprise video meet Steve arranged with Bootsy and EW&F. Already knew what a great and caring guy Steve is, but how quickly he got up and sat next to Ellen to comfort her when she teared up, proved it once again. Been following Ellen for a couple of years now and, as many, am very curious to see where her musical path will lead her in life. Chapeau to both her parents for raising a happy, smart, respectful and talented little girl.
Ellen is amazing. I'm also amazed that the audience can clap on the right beats.
she made me cry,i love her and her parents!
My God! Almost 70 and blown away! Just great!
You've got to love Ellen !
What an incredible talent. One can think about Mozart another musical genius And this young Lady who have received a gift from the Gods.
A gift from God , singular !!!
She just layed those hooks down to the floor, and the fact she chose Bootsy first, I'm done here!🗽🛸
Ellen has a big smile while she plays some really mean bass. (she remind us that playing music should be fun)
When Ellen started tearing up when she saw EWF, felt that tear running down my face too. I understand.
Oh yeah, me too!
Thank you for sharing this amazing tribute to this talented bass player by these fantastic musicians. It is amazing how music can bring us all together. Take care, Sir.
I can't help but smile and laugh when I see Ellen...I'm a big fan for a while now.
Thabks bro got me in the feels for sure. Huge fan of ellen horvak, bootsy and EW & T. Loved how you appreciated it
11:21 Have to admit, that part made me cry. lol Ellen's Smile is so infectious as it shares what's in her heart and what I wish the world had more of. She's really is just a phenomenal bass player. She's like 11 or 12 now and can literally play anything on bass. I sincerely believe that #EllenPlaysBass is the next #TimHenson just on Bass. Ellen is actually going to Astonish the World with a New Way to perform on the Bass in less than 5 years. - BC
Ellen knew exactly who the bass player was from EWF ,she was really surprised
Since this video Ellen has gotten so much better. She truely is amazing.
Her dad is a great musician as well
I like your reaction style. And Bootsy is right too. Ellen already has everything she needs. She plays from her and loves doing it.
Thanks for making this video! This girl is great. This music is where it should be.
This young girl is absolutely INCREDIBLE !
Sweetheart made me cry!
Bootsy took the bass and made the main instrument in a band not just instrument in the band and great to see youngsters like Ellen to carry the torch.
.. that kid inspires ME to be a better musician. I have great respect for her dad, who btw can really wail on that guitar!!
This video is so touching...God bless Ellen!!!
She is absolutely adorable... I've seen many of her U-Tube videos now... such a great talent at such a young age... She is going to be very rich and famous... Congratulations to you dad...
Im crying a 40 year old bassist..she is awesome
Actually Bootsy was in James Brown’s band.
I’m a bass player.
Bass players learn about all the greats.
That’s what musicians do.
Go watch her channel…you’ll see why she’s among the young prodigies
Why Steve had to do it like that!!! Made me cry watching her cry when ewf came on! Thats overload dude! Ughhhhh this was the highlight of the day
She had that Bootsy sound. No wonder he was so impressed. I used that same effect when I was a bass player in a funk band like 30 years ago lol. For her age she is inspired by the right players. Her dad taught her well.
I enjoyed this. I've known of Ellen for a couple years. She is big talent! Thanks for posting!
Harvey is a class act
I like the advice to keep having fun with the music. That's the way it should be.
She's very special in many ways!
Thank you for presenting and reacting to this! What a great way to start the day! Gratitude !
I totally AGREE Brotha. Thanks SO much for sharing this!!!!! I have to admit, I busted a few tears!
Go straight to the top girl
The greatest band to ever gather on a stage... Earth, Wind & Fire....

I think everybody in this video is top notch common sense people in that young lady she’s going somewhere
That atmosphere is what we need not only in the USA all over the world that was beautiful most beautiful thing I think I’ve seen in my whole life👍❤❤❤❤❤❤✊🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸💕💕
She said Bootsy. One of my favorites too. However I am closer to Bootsys age then her age lol. Jamerson is up there on my list as well. Those J5 grooves were killer. This little girl can play them too. She's amazing.
Oooohhhh MMmmyyyyy Ggggoooddd, Seeing Is Believing, Wow, how did in the world she learn to play like that?? What an amazing kid on bass!!
Some facts: Ellen used to listen to her Dad playing guitar since the crib.
She is endorsed by many companies, her Bass, gear, strings etc. Mayone's from Poland was the last one she signed. And she got a sweet red Bass with preamp and headphones to start.
Her dad is a virtuoso with the guitar and teach Ellen without being boring.
The song that Ellen just played, it's Ellen Groove, tailor-made for her by the people on Yousician, they did it because the owner was so impressed by Ellen for nailing all hard songs in the APP.
wow. awesome.
I've been watching Ellen UA-cam vids since she began. Her did is extremely talented and is a fantastic teacher! Great reaction @BigSwoleMusick
EWF... and my old radio set.. Radio BBC weekly hits❤
Radio Australia.. ❤
I just watched this video and I saw when you supposedly had something in your eye..... Well, I must have had something in both of my eyes. But it might have been raindrops lol... ok they were tears of joy❤❤❤
She's a natural 😁
Ellen's dad must be awesome to cultivate such a talented person!
go to her channel and watch " Ellens Story " he details how her love of music came about.
Been following Miss Ellen for awhile now, she's a fellow Las Vegan.....702 represent!
Oh yeah, growing up in that era the music was so great. It was the Jackson 5ive and all the Motown music being played on the radio and then when I started playing bass it E,W&F and many of the other great bands of that day. I came to appreciate it all. From R&B to Southern Rock to Classical Music. I really enjoyed it all. I first came across this young girl’s video and I was so amazed at her control and speed. She’s playing real music 4-sure. Her dad really introduced her to an era of music where the musicians had fun, but really was serious about the music. Also what Bootsy said about all the musicians playing together in the studio was good to hear.
❤❤❤❤❤ thank you
I liked your words at the end man. They are true. I love Ellen as a unique soul that she is, and I thank you for sharing this video, with "comments."
I follow that little girls channel. She is going to be one of the greats. I have been a pro bass player for years and this girl can play at my level in her sleep. And she's adorable to boot.
BTW Thank you BigSwole. I really enjoyed your presentation.. Seeing Bootsy again is really cool!! I DID grow up in that era. My friends & I LOVED EW & fire. about the same time there was a band called the Ohio Players & Elton John was getting very popular with the release of hie Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. 50 years later .. Earth wind & fire , Elton and a few others are nearly as popular as they were back then. An amazing era for music. I couldn't have been born at a better time given my love for that music scene, and you we're far behind me really. Kind Regards -Dan-
Amazing, Ellen!!!! You brought tears to my eyes seeing your interview and seeing You play!!! A MASTER!!!! ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥You are AMAZING!!!!!
Hey Big Swole, dis ya catch how she was more enjoying the crowd s response by Not looking at her L hand but laughing. That's mastery
OMG I just went through half a box of tissues. That was beautiful ❤
She have been Blessed.
Priceless
Ellen is SUPER ! Krikor from California.
she can play stevie wonder thru metallica. she's a future bass monster! there's a line in humble pie's "black coffee" (written by tina turner) that goes, "my skin is white but my soul is black". she's got the funk for sure.
Go go Ellen your future is in your hands....... and your guitar bass.
terrific terrific terrific terrific terrific
This was just fantastic!! I'm subscribed to her channel and the algorithm brought me here.
Thank you for this special video and I agree, she's really spreading her talent and joy. What an honor for her to be graced by such old skool talent!! She's already so recognized and endorsed, it's clear she's going places. She's polite, not full of herself, humble, and for 9 yrs old, carries herself well. She's going far in this crazy world, will shine her light bright and carry the torch of all the past greats.
Thanks, Big for your thoughtful comments - I only discovered Ellen yesterday and as a lifelong gigging musician (guitar) for over 50 years and having seen many child phenoms Ellen is the most natural, talented and lovable one of them all. I played for several years with a girl drummer who went on to play with Blue Man Group and Celine Dion (how's that for diversity) and she had that natural "pocket" feel too, which we both hung out in ;-) She had just graduated college so she was a little older than Ellen, but since it was 1990 when we started, she was definitely ahead of her time. Finally, all the emotions and feelings you mentioned I also feel, and I just can't get enough of that giggle. If you haven't seen it, she was invited to jam onstage with Steve Vai, and her resume is growing!
