What’s the movie She’s the Man about?
Viola Hastings (Amanda Bynes) is a teen girl who plays for her school feminine soccer team until the team gets cut by the board. Her twin brother, Sebastian (James Kirk), is supposed to enroll in Illyria, an elite school, but he secretly goes to London with his music band instead. Viola then agrees to cover for him by passing herself off as Sebastian in hopes of joining Illyria boys' soccer team. With the help of her stylist friend, she is transformed into "Sebastian" and attends the prestigious school. However, things get complicated when Viola starts to fall for Duke (Channing Tatum), the hot star forward. She discovers that dealing with high school politics and twisted love triangles is a major challenge when you’re a guy who’s really a girl!

Amanda Bynes is such a natural for this character. Anyone else would have tried way too hard to make it funny and it wouldnt have been the same.
She did a good job!
That would be true, but tragically, that role alone among other personal/work issues had costed the sanity and mental health/well being of Amanda Bynes. According to her or other sources, Bynes was not being herself as she was playing in a role that requires cross-dressing; in other words presumably, the role made her unhappy on the inside. Those particular problems had begun in five or six years after this film's release, and those problems had severely damaged her reputation.
I feel sorry for Amanda Bynes. This movie could have catapulted her to A-list, but her mental/behavioral/addiction problems ruined her career. But who would have thought Channing Tatum would make it to A-list? I was really surprised if based on this movie. But now, Channing has honed his acting skills really well. Good for him.

@@nethus1635 what do you mean? The dorm pamphlet? It's like a tiny magazine with instructions for every school with a dormitory. And the cubby is a storage space in your dorm room.
I know that some awkward scenes turn off some viewers but all the cast did a great job acting in this movie. I love how fluid that cafeteria scene was. Not only Amanda, but all them there, the way delivered the lines and their facial expressions were perfect and always makes me laugh.

Ok, I get it. Viola and Olivia both having gone through a recent break-up is a reference to the original play Viola and Olivia both lost a brother (not really in Viola's case since Sebastian's still alive but she didn't know that). In both cases Viola empathises with Olivia and I think Olivia senses that as well.
