- Toaster Entry #19: I finally get the chance to install the ElementDriven Rear Hatch Release Kit in the Toaster! This allows me to open and close the rear hatch from inside the vehicle, which was a design oversight that I have always wanted to fix!

I just commented on your other video about how I want to make this modification!
I have a 2007.
I love the fact that I can recline all of the seats to make a big mattress. I just went to a festival with my son, he is 14 months old, and we camped out in the element with the seats made into the mattress. It was his first festival. He absolutely loved it and he slept very well in the car. I was worried about his comfortability but he was perfectly content!
Honda Elements are where it’s at!
It’s like a better version of the Pontiac Aztek!
I remember when those came out and I thought that they were so neat! They gave one away to the winner of the show Survivor the year they came out.
Just now saw this video. Great tutorial and so glad you got it installed. Unfortunate about the first missed hole (and the hand hitting the bolt). The included grease goes on the pivot point to make the pull action for the cable even smoother. So glad you now have easy access out the back of your cool ride. Cheers!
Great tutorial bro! Gonna use this to install the kit I just ordered.
Thanks! Hope you enjoy it, its been a game changer for me! Thanks for watching! :)
Wild!! I just bought an element and wanted to do this mod before ahakori? Right near saxapahaw!
I live in Garner. Almost 1 hr away. What a small world.
Wow haha! Super small world! Thanks for watching and good luck with your element! :)
Thank you for this video made installation a breeze!
The good ole double door close
Well worth installing. Nicely done. I’m in. My 04 is the same color as yours. Metal thing is a grommet.
Thanks!! Its been a life changer! Thanks for watching :)
The grommet’s official name is a Jack nut, or whatever anyone wants to call it.
Good feature 👍
Nice thanks
If the doors are locked would it still open ?. Our would you use fob first.
Fob first but its also possible to install a manual lock knob on the rear door
Yo Buddy!!! Just saw your video! We are practically neighbors! I’m in Burlington. Love my Toaster! Did you go to Elements on the Dragon this year?
i seriously need to do mine. I'll have to make a vid as well.
Its been such a huge and welcome change! Highly recommend it haha! Thanks for watching!
With this mod, is it possible to lock yourself out when you exit through the rear hatch?
Hell yeah bro I have the same kit I believe I told u about this element driven sorry you got the wrong hole
Yup! Its an amazing kit! Got the wrong hole, but it happens and was totally my own fault haha! Thanks for watching :)
LOL that was funny lol.
$70 for those few little parts. Yikes.
Yes, but remember there's also the research that went into figuring out where to put what part where. It's a lot of money sure, but I am totally okay paying for convenience sometimes! Thanks for watching! :)
I know! The price is ridiculously high!
I found a couple posts on the Element Owners Club forum of their own modifications.
It didn’t look as sleek as this modification, but it was way cheaper.
I’m befuddled at the fact that the engineering team didn’t think about this when they were designing it.
@@allisonmccune9556 they know people want a done deal turn-key solution that's pretty and they know will work.
No extra bracing added, no big hole in the facing side of the plastic panel so you have easy access if you have a platform bed or items stored up against the liftgate. Two holes in the plastic can be plugged if needed later. We designed the kit to last a long time, for ease of install and minimalistic in how it looks. We’re all for seeing people DIY their own hatch releases but we understand people also like ease of use. Some of these parts are hand made also. I spin the stainless cables personally myself (Jeff at ElementDriven). We’re all about helping people enjoy time in their Elements.
Just bought me an old raggedy 03 😂 may have try this thx bro🫶🏼
