Marie my friend, her father refugee from Poland in France with a family of three, 2 girls and a newborn, was arrested and deported, did not come back. Mother and newborn were hidden in a basement, the two girls find shelter with catholics nuns. After war, Marie had bad relations with her mother who would call her mishiguene all the time. My dad (soldier) was prisoner in Germany five years. I guess the fact he had studied latin, greek and german and as sub-officer made them keep him. People of my generation never understood the silence of witnesses.
