New subscriber, awesone talent..u should open a store, this stuff would sale like hot cakes...These days people buy this stuff year around..so many people in to this kind of decor in there homes believe it or not...so glad I found your channel 😊😊😊😊
Awesome! I age my cheapo store-bought skulls with wax stain, which is kind of expensive but goes a long ways. I think I'll try the watered down brown acrylic. If you kind of dab at it w/ a rag or paper towel you can get some cool textures. I LOVE the wall effect, I've got to try that next year, you do some very creepy stuff here!
I just found it too!! Absolutely LOVE this!! Definitely going to try to do a few of them!! Thank you guys for the tutorial!! I would have never thought of doing it this way!! Also helps recycle that ol' plastic too which makes it even better!! ❤❤
may I suggest you look into washes and dry brushing, especially around the teeth, I have been using both since I started model making. it adds new dimensions to the 3D effect.
Oh amazing, ❤❤❤, wonder if my hair dryer would get hot enough to mold the milk jug? Love the stacked skulls can’t wait for that video. I bet y’all have the best Halloween decorations on the block!!
Hello, I have never tried a hair dryer. But am told that it doesn't get hot enough. U can find an inexpensive heat gun on Amazon or at harbor freight. We run a haunted attraction near home in N central Florida. Thank u.
Hey y’all! These look so good! I can’t wait to make one. I’ve gotta round up a skull to use as my pattern one. And the painting and shadowing is the fun part. For me anyway. Thanks y’all, see ya next time! ❤️💜💚
Q: What stain or paint did you use on the wall mural behind you, that color looks great. Q: Can you re-heat the plastic to seal the cut you made in the back of the skull? Can you melt pieces together? Last Q: Where did you get the skull that you're using as the mold? *Another way to do the teeth is to just antique them. First paint them, then coat with clear medium, then just brush all the teeth w dark stain or paint, wipe off excess. The dark stain will get stuck in the cracks. You might want to press in harder w/ an embossing tool as you're melting the plastic to get the best detail.
A good way to add mummified skin effect. Tissue gift wrap paper from dollar tree, water down white glue paint on model stick paper down and smoosh into place with more pva glue
👍 great ideas to create props & features inexpensively. You could try washes for highlighting between teeth & in cracks (dark brown colours and/or reds). There are ready made washes or just water down acrylics or thinned stains would pool in these places well. Keep on creating!
Just found your videos tonight. Much appreciated for such an affordable and crafty idea. Forgive me as I’m new to your channel…. do you make you own haunted house walkthrough or yard haunt? I’m 45 and loving the creativity of Halloween after failing at tried and “true” way of living as how I was raised. Love seeing there’s more to life 💜🎃👍
Cool art ! I seen a van that had a netherland motif ( my description) had hands , skulls ( either Bondo or fiberglass ), drift wood , moss , and a dang good paint job . It was parked at the local Walmart . I use to work the craft shows marketing leather work . Leather masks was a big . Dig your creativity , I miss being around artists and the creative vibes . 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕
I have tried it a few times. It's shows up but not as vibrant. I have done the inside with the black paint to black out the eyes and nose and shadow areas.
That was my question too: spray paint the inside black and cut out the eye and nose sockets etc? Seems like it would be just as quick and avoid the shiny reflections from the black paint. Especially if the skull is going to be mounted like shown in the background
Not sure if anyone asked where is your haunted house ? We have a really popular one here in Jay Florida it’s in the woods but not very good it’s only popular because there is not a lot of competition for them here in NW Florida. Where I’m from north Ga, Newnan. Which just happens to be where they film Zombieland & Walking Dead etc. competition for haunted houses is big out churches have them for fund raising. Like your channel I have subscribed, good luck to you!
We r out at Otter Springs RV park and campground in Gilchrist county , Fl. This year its just a hayride and walking trail thru the woods. But is very scary. Thanx 4 watching
This is the 2nd video of yours I’ve watched and although Halloween is not my holiday, I really enjoy yall and your creativity! I would like to say one thing tho, please get and use proper PPE when you’re painting & using chemicals. It’s worrying to see you in a cloud of toxic paint and know it’s coating your lungs. I use to perform autopsies and have seen first hand what I’m talking about. Y’all are great and we need to keep you making videos!😁💗
Hello, I appreciate your concerns for my well being and will take your advice into serious consideration . What no1 sees or realizes . Is that 2 feet on the other side of the camera is an open end of my shop. which is an 8ft x 8ft opening and I have an exhaust fan running right before that area. Also if u ever notice on the other end of the shop above the dewalt compressor is a white blower fan that pushes air out and away toward the opening. So when I say well ventilated , its not an over exaggeration. I do value your concerns and will take them seriously. Thank u
Not carving pumpkins this year making some cool skulls thank you. One guestion, what is your base/ mold skull or where did you get it. Where can you get em. Also use local vendors too
You could black out a few teeth. That would look cool. Also, on the white skulls, you could use some of yellow stain on the teeth. That would be a cool look as well. On your sharpie outlines, you could go over those with paint to break up the lines.
Have you tried using a blackwash then dry brushing the teeth to bring back the white/bone color of them? Love what your doing, keep doing it. Just throwing my two cents in. Going to try this technique and make some myself.
Would a dipping glaze be faster than spray painting...while protecting and cealing. Spray paint often makes the manufacturer or those working with the spray paint ill...COPD.
IDEA! IDEA!.... poke a little hole in center of eye sockets after shadowing... get a cheap strand of red Christmas lights (or any color you prefer) can find strand of lights for $3 at dollar general... and poke a light through tiny eye socket holes... 《by doing this you can have a hanging skull decor or add creepy light action to the skulls props you made》 (just an idea💡 yall could try)
the shadowing can easily be done with the heater you used and a corresponding color wrap..you may need to first apply glue...set the black shawdow wrap and then apply the heat with the handheld machine.
You need to invent adhesive multicolor shrinkwrap (transparent and nontransparent) for Norman, Ramona and grandson LJ. Call 3M...be sure you can paint over that Shrink Wrap and that you can order the exact blend of colors preordered in their variaties (the foundation makeup for all your skulls and their varieties) and the shrink wrap that adapts to your skulls easily with the hand held machine so you only need to add fine detail...your artwork...without painting soo much. What you need is a textured canvas shrinkwrap that works unlike a canvas and creates texture...for painting. I think you can also make your own dip to create a mask...using home products. For example, using casting techniques like plaster of paris instead of spray paint..or you can combine..you're the expert artist.
Mix a plaster of 0aris and vermiculite. Fill the plastic skull with it let dry then cut off the plastic .. would give you a skull you could add lites for eyes. And carve how ever you want on it
If you buy a gallon of paint from HD you can save a ton of money. Buying it at Walmart costs $95/gallon after you get 64 of the 2-ounce bottles. Buying at HD is $35/gallon. Get some small bottles or cans to pour into from the gallon to make it more convenient.
I would stain the teeth too. People rarely have pearly white teeth and I would think an old skull wouldn't have white teeth either due to age. Maybe take some coffee or tea and stain them with that
Thank you for sharing this great tutorial.. Where would a person find the skull you used under the jugs for the shaping?? Also, not a criticism, just a personal observation, but the 1-3 seconds of the sped up video and what I assume is supposed to be spooky music kinda ruins your video. It's really not necessary. It's your video, you do it how you like, I was just pointing out my personal observation.
Hello, I have addressed this before. My shop is well ventilated. An 8ft X 8ft open end of the shop. Just feet away from.where I work. I don't actually melt the milk jug plastic. It's more of softening it enough to reform it. I use hot glue to reattach the seam. Thanx 4xwatching.
