This guy is such a monster player.
He doesnt have to rely on slap licks at a million miles an hour to impress people. He is making beautiful captivating sounds that are original and interesting. I wish so many more players worried less about how many notes they play and focused more on the importance of the notes they do play
It's times like these that I realize how wonderful it is to live in a day and age where we have something like UA-cam. A gateway we can walk through to gain access to other great musicians on the planet doing incredible things aside from the big names that are flashed on TV and such. This was absolutely amazing, and thank you so much for sharing.

those are just lines. There are no protruding metal frets on his bass

I have loved fretless bass for a while after it appeared on a few of my favourite records, but I have to say, this is my favourite piece of bass playing in general. Wonderful to just sit back and think about stuff to, while also appreciating the musicianship and beauty. Thank you for uploading and playing :)

Nearly ten years since this appeared on UA-cam and it hasn't been bettered. Superb playing, wonderful composition, terrific tone. Way back in the 70s I tried to use my bass to solo and was always looking for the other strings.

Ok, ok, i understand, i have played bass only 4 years now, mostly metal music with pick, only now starting to play with fingers. But after hearing this i feel like being the worst bassist in the world... Unbelievable playing.

I watch this video seemingly once a month since I found it a few years back. It gives me the drive to keep on playing. So much feeling in this work of art. This is my kind of bass playing. I’m not as good as this performance, but if anyone cares to check out a similar track I wrote a crappy little part of a song about 6 years ago on a 7 string Antoniotsai bass I used to have. It’s called Melody Of The Stargazer and you can find it on UA-cam. I apologize I am not trying to steer listeners away. You will continue to get views. I watch this video a lot. And I show it to everyone who will listen.

Very Nice! I have Bizet Fretless 7 string bass that I'm learning on. Do you know anything about this brand? It's a beautifully crafted one of a kind bass with an ivory rose running the length of the fretboard. I can't seem to find any information on it. Would love to know the history on it.
I have two questions:
1) are those piccolo strings or regular?
2) what is the tuning?

So brilliant Eric. ...You are an explorer and pioneer. You were one of the greatest 'band' bassists - but I think that bands held you back from what you were meant to do - which is to inspire a generation to think beyond former boundaries like Hendrix did.
