  • So this video focuses on a classical cello study piece scale sequence-and we look at how to adapt and expand this for bass guitar players.
I'll show you some concepts to take a simple one bar cello study idea and expand it, by playing this from the lowest to highest available note and back.
Plus useful tips on shifting and how to move rapidly up and down the
    fingerboard with ease.
If you dig this go grab one of my Bass Study Pieces here-The D Min Prelude is pretty intense as is the bebop blues piece.

Scale sequences are GREAT for developing consistency and co-ordination on the bass. In this video I show you some ideas to develop a 1 bar idea from a cello etude. I'll do more in this concept soon!

you're the real deal Rufus! I'm loving the unedited straight up attitude, you are clearly a master study, keep it up, and thanks for the exercise!

RUFUS.......I haven't seen you since the 90's at Wapping. Lovely to see you again. You were and still are the man.

This was immense.. absolutely love your playing. Especially the way you end lines. Sounds amazing. But when you actually break it down it just simple argeggios or triads.

Very nice exercise. I'm currently away from home and having to adapt for Bass Ukelele. Looking forward to get home and play with this on the electric.

thanks for the study. I've made some progress on your Prelude in D minor. Trying to get my performance up to tempo. There is so much to enjoy in there.

    You deserve way more subs

Thank you for the great lesson. It's another one that I'll have to rewind about 100 times :) Also, it seems a bit strange that you're not playing a set neck or neck through instrument, since you spend time high up the neck? I hate how the neck heel gets in the way, since I also play a jazz bass. I tried a neck-through 6 string a couple weeks ago and playing on the 24th fret felt better than playing the 20th on my jazz bass...

Is there a tab for this. I would love to practice this.. very interesting. Im fairly new to bass. But this would for sure help the focus of fretting ..
