That’s a good bbq sauce. I use it too. Good idea of adding another spice to it. Interesting video and definitely going to try it. Have a great week Jeff.👍🏽
I usually add my home-grown cayenne to it. Cumin is a non-starter for me. 1/4 teaspoon of cumin for an entire pork shoulder is too much for my tastes. Sometimes I make my own sauce from scratch. Pretty good stuff... when I don't screw it up. SBR's is pretty darn good right from the get go.
@@bbqplus Write down whatever you do. There's no way to track all those ingredients and proportions by memory. I made some really good stuff... and I almost remember how to do it.
Like #54. I'll give it a go. 1.25 tsp is the magic number. I'd cleanse the palette in between tastes from one to the other, but other than that a great test. Thanks.
Straight sweet baby rays is too sweet for me.. I've done some homemades as well, but for a quick nostalgic feel for slow cooker cowboy 5 bean dish, I'll use half each of sweet baby rays hickory, and open pit. Scant else is needed at least for that sweet bean dish. Will try this as well.
Each time I added cumin, I added 1/2 teaspoon to what was already there. 1/2 + 1/2 + 1/2 to get 1.5 tsp. I think 1.5 per 1/4 cup SBR is slightly too much.
Yeah, I picked SBR after I read an article that showed it is the most popular sauce in the USA. I need to venture into the deep rabbit hole of making my own sauces from scratch!

Thank you. Cumin can be polarizing as some folks are not fans of that spice... I happen to be on the side of liking it and really enjoy it in BBQ.
How'd you make it better, take out the high-fructose corn syrup?
LOL... wish I could! That is a big negative in my opinion that I mention in the video.
@@bbqplus You can. There are many bbq sauce recipes online that don't include hfcs.
I added a teaspoon of cumin and paprika and some hot sauce... FIRE!!!
That sounds great!

Allspice is a great addition to barbecue sauce.
I will try that as well! Do you have a recommendation of how much per measure (1/4 cup) of BBQ sauce?
Like #54. I'll give it a go. 1.25 tsp is the magic number. I'd cleanse the palette in between tastes from one to the other, but other than that a great test. Thanks.
Thanks! It was fun to take something so average and popular and enhance it. Thx for watching and commenting!
Great idea, will try it.
Please do!

Good ideas. I like mixing and "doctoring" sauces!
Just buy Rib Rak BBQ sauce instead. SBRs first ingredient is high fructose corn syrup.
Yeah, I agree that the high fructose corn syrup is a downer.
I did this video as SBRs is the most popular BBQ sauce in the country.
Add honey , even though the bottle contains honey.
I will give that a try!
I gotta try this with some curry powder or chili powder
Yes! Use rhe SBR as a base and then tailor it to to your own taste!
First ingredient... High fructose corn syrup. No thanks.
Yeah... not ideal... but it is the most popular BBQ sauce in the nation :-/
Also first ingredient in Heinz ketchup..
Only in the US. Don’t hate the player, hate the game.
You have two teaspoons you put a half a whole and then a half again!
Each time I added cumin, I added 1/2 teaspoon to what was already there.

3:37 Minutes into the video you say I'm going to put in 1 tsp. And even your writing on the screen said 1 tsp.
I would enhance with chipotle or better still, habanero.
Emeril would say, "BAM!"
I made it way better too. I put it on some BBQ ribs.
I like the way you think!
Why improve Rays when you can buy Stubbs.
It is the most popular in rhe USA and widely available.
To each their own. If I'm using store bought BBQ sauce its not going to be sweet baby ray's.

I didn't like that brand.
Have you tried the Bachans Japanese BBQ sauce? I really like that one!
@@bbqplusNo but that sounds really interesting. I'll check it out!
They have lots of kinds 🤷♀️
The first issue is even considering that sweet baby rays is palatable and "good"
Its trash
Best sauce on the market! Name any that are better???
