Catching up on a lot of your videos the last few days! Really liking the content! I was fortunate to get two bottles of Knob Creek 12 for $51.00 each it’s one of my favorites to date! Knob Creek store pick that’s awesome, and really loving my Knob Creek 18!
Catching up on episodes that I missed. I like Knob Creek 9. I like Knob Creek Single Barrel Store Picks more. But my favorite is Knob Creek 12. I currently have 3 bottles of it on my shelf. ($65-$70 in my area). I am also a big fan of OGD Bonded and OGD 114.
Interestingly enough, I went to Louisville area early September and picked up an OGD & KC12 since I hadn't had either of them. Thanks for the review and the new series offering! Love the name. Kudos Julie!!
KC 12 is exactly as you described and no surprise it is considered top shelf. Perfect flight comparisons for this series. We actually took a 375ml of the KC 9 as our sipper of choice this past weekend to a fall wiener roast and it hit all the flavor notes. Cheers! 🥃🥃
KC12 is such a fantastic whiskey especially for the price. I can get in pretty easily in NJ for like $60-65. Always on my shelf. When you can get a well aged product like this for $60 its hard to justify spending more on hyped and lots of young NDP bourbons that aren't even close to as good.
Love the name for this...RubyHeart hit it outta the park with that one :) Like Paul K., I also have to give thanks for putting me on the OGD wagon. Plus its a super cool shirt :) Look forward to more in this series...Cheers!
There’s so much to say! First, welcome back! Thanks for having some videos prerecorded for us. Still, you were missed. I love the idea for this series. Hoping eventually for an underdog to win. Phil, great job editing this one. I felt like it was concise, but not rushed. Great length. I’m available for all of your marketing needs. No I’m not. Just kidding.
Thanks a lot, Ruby! We worked very far ahead to make sure we could keep the content moving forward while we were out and about. Now we have some catching up to do!
I love all three of the glasses you tasted. KC 12 has the depth of flavor beyond the other two. However, the KC 12 costs twice as much as the KC 9. So from my thrifty (cheapskate) perspective; why spend twice as much for the KC 12 when it doesn’t offer me twice the flavor? OGD BIB is terrific. However, if I use the desert island analogy (I can only bring one with me), it would be the KC 9 (among the three choices) for me. Still, you can’t go wrong with any of them.
When I see KC 9 in a bar, I feel relieved that they'll at least have something I enjoy neat, but strangely enough, I never have it at home. KC SiB 120 is probably one of may favorite home pours. It's so creamy and delicious. KC 12 I have a bottle of and I'm savoring it as slowly as I can.

My wife and I just started our home bar less than two weeks ago. I got the bug after watching some videos and then started talking to my wife and she had a desire to try some so I researched the beans out of really good starter bourbons, ryes, and Irish whiskey. This is what we are starting with, Sazerac rye, Powers 3 swallow Irish whiskey, Basil and Hayden, Angels envy, Elijah Craig small batch, Wild Turkey 101 bourbon, buffalo trace, and Woodford reserve double oaked as well as a couple flavored whiskies and bourbons. I just bought the Woodford, Buffalo trace, and Basil Hayden today and we have not even tried them yet. If my research was any good that should be a solid starter for our bar and next month I want to get Four Roses small batch select and 1792.
If that Basil Hayden is something you like, we recommend Old Grand-Dad Bonded. It’s the same high rye Jim Beam mash bill, but much cheaper, a little higher proof, and a better mouthfeel with bigger flavors. It’s a step up in proof do might require a drop or two of water at first, but that’s our daily drinker. Cheers! Enjoy the journey.
@@TheBourbonVan we found the Basil Hayden uninspiring and flat but the Woodford reserve double oaked was amazing and the Buffalo trace was really good too. We are also partial to the angels envy. If you have the Woodford reserve double oaked when the glass only has those last few drops in it roll the glass around on its side a few times and see if you get an old barn full of hay in the mow smell like old wood and hay and slight cow smell and I mean very slight and then weirdly it finish's with a bit of cinnamon flavor.
Can’t get the KC 12 here, but I thank you guys for turning me onto the OGD! 😉🙏🏼 As for the KC 9, the one I have was when the age statement disappeared from the bottle for a time…so probably not really a 9!?!
The KC 12 Cask Strength is the bottle we'd love to get our hands on. We got to try it on a 5 Sip Friday tasting a while back and we've never seen it since. It's absolutely stellar and we're always on the hunt for it!
I'm not a fan of Knob Creek. I don't dislike them and the 12 is better than most. I just don't gravitate to the dusty peanut and drying bitterness that I usually get from the Knob Creek line up. I do like the OGD BiB and 114. Cheers 🥃

Should name a segment “in a van, down by the river”
Knob Creek 9 Year 😋🥃so good
I’m with you, I have several bottles of the 12 and it’s a great drink. And nothing wrong with OGD BIB.
have a great day!!!
You too, Nicholas, cheers!

KC 9 is such a solid sipper for any occasion, but that 12 is something else, right? Cheers Eric!
Love the name! Looking forward to more lineups to come!

This is pretty much exactly the same story over here on all of these. Cheers Bo!
Those are all good but it’s the 12 for me!
I not a real fan of OGD Bonded, but love the OGD 114. Am I weird? Love the Knob Creeks!
Haha, we think you're great!
Stellar series!! Keep it going! So are yall doing one distillery each time, 3 pours, bottom, mid and top?
That's the plan, Ed! We actually have a 4-bottle blind on the schedule for another distillery in the near future. Cheers!
I have to look for the KC 12 year. I love the 9 year and OGD 114 as well.
Great name. Keep it going.

Just pure poetry.
Well done

I do like the name - so grateful your choice Phil was vetoed by Julie. You should listen to her much more😁
Julie has never been wrong. This message was written and approved by Julie.

I see what you did with the 'B'.
KC 12 can be difficult to find here in coastal NC. ODD Bonded is excellent for a bottom shelf Bourbon !! Bottoms Up 🥃 !!
Cheers, Bill!
If OGD BiB is bottom shelf I'm all good then loo
OGD Bonded is considered bottom shelf because of it's price, but always seems to perform well in blind tastings.. 🥃 Cheers
Why are Julie’s glasses empty, while Phil’s still have whiskey in them? And btw, love KC12!
Haha, what else is new? Cheers Matt!
kc 12 is $47 here and always on the shelf, same with KC 9 $30
face down mash up crushes this name...pls at least make a t-shirt.
Knob 12 is worth the money, sayI:)
Completely agree!
