I’m from Minnesota where the winter is harsh, I’ll say My wildpeak did great without having to put in 4x4. I currently moved to Oklahoma and man does it rain alot down here. It’s super muddy but I’m happy to see my wildpeak perform like a beast without having to put in 4x4. I would highly recommend a set to anyone looking into A/T tires and for the price, you cannot beat!
Glad to here this. In MN for work and putting tires on this week, ordered some AT3W on recommendation... Literally might save my life... Or another 830 dollar tow bill/extraction
After much consideration I bought a set of (stock size) the P rated Falken A/T3W tires for my 2016 Tacoma over the venerable KO2's. After putting over 5k on these tires last year in Northern Idaho's winter all I can say is these tires performed better than I expected. In my mind they were better than the KO2's and cost a lot less.. The tires were awesome, my family and friends took note as I drove up and out of my sisters long driveway which was snow and wet ice. They were impressed enough to get a set for their Jeep the following week. I now have 25k on them and there's hardly any wear on them. They're extremely sure footed on wet roads too. Northern Idaho is a good test for these tires, they sure felt at home there.. Totally Love and trust them.
I'm on my third set of at3w Falken tires and they perform very well even on my 2 wheel drive Chevy 1500! The mileage you get out of the tires is outstanding it's a 55000 mile warranty I've gotten over a 60000 on each set!
every body in comments get these tires they are everything and more ,safety when my wife drives in rain or snow that gives me comfort and that is priceless
I live in Oregon and 2 years ago we had an ice storm to beat all ice storms. At the time I had plain old highway tires on my Nissan Pathfinder 4x4 and even in 4wheel drive I slipped and slid all over the place. The following summer I put a set of these tires on my truck even though my highway tires were almost new. I swore I wasn't gonna go through another winter sliding all over. Wouldn't you know it but the following winter we barely got a dusting of snow and no ice storms. Old man Murphy strikes again. Here we are heading into another winter and so far these tires have done great on every surface I have driven on and after a year and a half they still look new. Who knows, maybe we will get some snow this winter so I can see how they handle it. Love these tires and highly recommend them.
2 Weeks ago we got over a foot of snow in one day and then 2 days later we got an additional 6". Well, this happened on my days off so I saw no need to go anywhere but since it wasn't snowing when I parked it I didn't put it into 4x4. The snow was up to my bumpers and I had no room to roll so I rocked it back and forth until I was able to get on top of it. in 2x4. These tires did wonderful. In 2x4 I was able to fight my way out to the street where I could roll far enough for the front end to engage. After that I had absolutely no issues getting around. My best friend saw this and promptly went to America's Tire and ordered a set of these tires for her Hummer H3.
I hope and pray that Falken continues to produce these tires for a long time. I fully intend to buy these exact same tires when the ones I have now finally need replacing.
I bought the 275x70 r18 for my 2010 f150 4x4 superscrew Sept. of 2017. We(Va,Beach Va) got hit with almost a foot of snow in January 4rth 2018. I was the first one out there around 3:30 am test driving these falken of mine.awesome on snow.few days go by and the ice on road started to set. I drove through like it was nothing. I'm about to lift 3" more and buy the 325x65 r18s.very very awesome tires!!! I can actually vouch for these tires.
Got them for a week now. Love the look and massively increased handling of the truck (mitshi Challenger). Much better cornering and grip compared to the old "destinations". Also a huge increase in fuel consumption - from 12-13 Km/L down to 9=10 Km/L. I got the LT's and these are heavy tyres.
I put these on my ‘13 F150 FX4 in Aug ‘17 (now 16 months old and 13,500 miles). Love love love these tires!! I drive in central Ohio with big mix of hot summer temps, lots of rain, multiple snow & ice events, and occasional off roading on farm properties (wet sticky Ohio mud, rock, and grassy fields). These tires handle EVERYTHING all the time. I had dedicated mud tires to swap on if heading to the farm but... sold those tires/rims once I tested these tires and found they could easily handle lite off roading. I do drive 95% on roads and these tires are relative quiet, brake and grip very well even in wet, and have worn well so far. Other than I’ve rounded off the tires edges slightly but that’s due to my driving style and fact that my truck weights 6,000 pounds fueled! Overall, Great tire... will absolutely 100% buy them again!!! Note: I went with the 33” P275/60 R20 tire which contains the silica compound for better wet performance, that was the right choice for me and this truck I believe.
Just bought these over the ko2’s and so happy with my decision. They are just better tires all around imo. I’ve used ko2’s basically my entire life and they are great tires but the falkens have blown me away on my 4runner.
The KO2 came out in 2016. 5 years is basically your entire life? But seriously, are you still liking the Falkens? I had KO2s on my Xterra and they were great, I still had some tread left after 55,000 miles but they got super squirrely on wet asphalt towards the end. Looking at the Falkens for my ZR2.
I just put a set of the non LT grade (4ply) AT3Ws on my JGC yesterday. I've only driven about ten miles on them on city roads, but the handling and stability improvement is very noticeable! I expect a slight drop in fuel mileage, but it'll be worth it. It's driven on road way more than off, but I'm hoping these tires will at least stand up to moderate off roading for things like hunting and exploring. I don't do Rock Climbing, etc. but I do have to travel some rocky, not boulders, NS/F trails, maneuver up shale hillsides and cross some streams, etc. occasionally. We'll see. My real off roader is going to be the Tacoma I just acquired. When I replace the tires on it, they'll be LT grade! It's like choosing right tool for specific job. They're great tires. My grandson has had them on his 02 Silverado for about 4 years now too!
I have two 4Runners. I have Falken AT3W's on my 1998 ltd. and as soon as the General Grabbers wear out on my 2016 SR5, it will be wearing the Falkens as well...great tires. Oh, I live in the mountains of Western North Carolina. They serve me well in ALL conditions.
I’ve had these tires for two year and over 20k miles in rain, snow, dirt, rocks, and pavement. They hold up really good and are surprisingly quiet. They also look really rugged on my 5th gen 4Runner. Would definitely recommend them.
Guided my dad to use these as a replacement for bfg kos , they run quiet, handle great ,smooth , all around damn good tire. Handled mud well too , he put them on 2003 tacoma 4x4 . And hes in love with them. Cant beat them for the money. Im gonna run a set on my ram 2500
Looking to get some next week. Always ran Bfgs on my Ram 2500 but after looking at what seems like a thousand different brands these have the best overall capabilities. Glad your Dad likes them 👍
I put a set of these on about a week ago (235 75r15) and while I have put very few miles on them, they seemed to have smoothed out at about the 100 mile mark.
I’d love to see another well-edited video like this with a legit, non-biased, head-to-head test of these and other top contenders like the Grabber ATX, KO2, etc.
I have 18,000 on my set of wild peaks.. overall I can say in my experience they are a better tire than the k02 an the Goodyear wrangler At.. i had both an so far wild peaks are my favorite tire..
I love these tires! I used them on my 2017 Ram and they handle outstanding in all environments! I’ve placed about 52000 miles on them and they still look great, but I meticulously rotated them and maintained the proper air pressure! Excellent wear and low noise at highway speeds. I’m going to buy me another set this weekend before I head up into the Colorado mountains next week on the way to Idaho Springs! New tires y’all! Yay!!
What air pressure do u run these at while having no load on the truck, compared to hauling a trailer etc?? And what size? Im going from a 275/70r18 to a 285 and wonder how much different the sizes will be
I put these on my ram 3500 last week because of the reviews and they were 400 dollars cheaper than the toyo's I put on my wife's rig. They are by far the best a/t I have ran on any rig so far. It's December here in oregon and they are doing an outstanding job. I like that they ride great and the noise is not noticeable. Try them, I think you will like them
@@hickboy3067 if you're doing heavier trailering or gooseneck hauling the "D" or "E" load rated Falken AT3W LT version tires are best. 10 ply sidewall are super stiff! I don't tow anything bigger than a utility trailer so I'm going to go with the passenger tire, non LT version. But I've been running 10 ply LT tires for 10 years (same set of 4) bridgestone A/T REVO 30,000 miles, got a flat due to cracked mag wheel and didn't even know it - NYC to Washington D.C.
@@hickboy3067 As long as you get the tires with the correct load rating you'll be fine. I saw/felt these next to some KO2's and Duratracs the sidewall is just as strong as those two tires. Feels really beefy.
I have the Falken Wildpeak At3 265/70 r17 on my Toyota Tacoma PreRunner which is rear wheel drive of course. I was concerned about my trucks performance in the snow when I moved up to the mountains of NC. I was considering studded snow tires or chains but I've been very happy with how well I've been able to get around up here on the at3's in a 2wd truck. I highly recommend them for winter and they are very smooth and quiet on the highway pavement for a tire with such an aggressive tread pattern. Has anyone else had similar experience with these? Thanks
I live in southeast Texas, so we generally don't have a need for 4x4 where I live. But I have these on my 4Runner SR5 4x2 (same exact size as yours) and so far they've performed flawlessly. Driven them up to Oklahoma each month since January and through dry highway and wet rain and they perform really well. Very smooth on pavement and don't notice any road noise at all. I feel safe in them in hard downpour and confident it will get me through some rough weather.
They look like some good mud/snow tires. I'll definitely check them out when I am finished with my 4runner. Great video too! Like always, very professional and put together well
I just tested the Yoko X-MT, fantastic mud terrain tire, but I've gone back to the AT3W for the snow/ice performance. The AT3W on a vintage Landcruiser followed me almost everywhere on this test - ua-cam.com/video/aLBspRM1YBc/v-deo.html
Put these on my old f250 last winter 275/65r20 look great and perform too. Sold that truck this summer and bought f150 immediately bought a set of these for it 275/60r20. Dropped down a bit in size for a couple reasons. The 65s are a 10 ply E load rated and the 60s are a 4 ply. The bigger truck needed a more heavy duty tire but they are heavy in weight and harder to get balanced and harder on fuel. But they also don't wear as easy. But $ always has the final say, I went smaller because I didn't have the extra cash (new wheels too) and just wanted to get the tires on the truck as fast as possible. Love these tires! I'd but these every time, the only other ones that I'd even consider may be nittos but only if they were the same price. I don't usually review things but I can comfortably say if you are thinking about these then do it.
I just purchased a set of Falken Wildpeak A/T3W tires in 265/75R16 for my 2016 Nissan Frontier Pro4X. I live near Flagstaff, Arizona at 7,000-8,000 ft. elevation and we've had a heavy monsoon season this year. The tires have performed very well in heavy rain and also in the mud. I can't wait to see how they'll do in the snow this winter. On my old Frontier I had a set of BF Goodrich AT and those tires were awesome down in the desert on rocky trails. I hope the Wildpeaks will perform as well or better than the BFGs on the desert trails. Up near Flagstaff there are many forest roads with volcanic rock and the Falkens have never let me down, especially in the mud during the monsoon season
Bought these last October in the LT rating to replace Cooper Discoverer AT3's I had on. So far I love them. Good grip in conditions, especially in snow which is really important to me as I pull my travel trailer all year round. I'll be curious to see how long they last for mileage. This is the 3rd set of tires I've had on that advertised 55,000 mi (one set advertised 70k) but none have come close yet. I'll be really impressed if they make it, I'll be a fan forever
@@4WDMagazine Michelin LTX AT2(rated at 70,000), and Cooper Discoverer AT3 (rated at 55,000). I went through 2 sets of the Discoverer AT3: one set on a 2012 F150, and one on a Silverado 2500HD Duramax. None of these sets lasted more than 40k. I'm a stickler for tire pressures and rotation, and these tires all wore evenly and uniformly across the tread face with the exception of some very light feathering on the outside shoulder. I'm very happy with HOW they wore, just not how long.
Mark Harvey Currently running A/T3 XLT on my daily truck and now on the market for another set of AT tires for my weekend truck. How is the Falken on-road?
@@Kiddomike I've gotta say, so far I really like them. Rain, snow, dry, so far they're super! And something that surprised me was that they're even quieter than the Coopers despite having a deeper and slightly more aggressive tread. Coming up on my 2nd rotation (I always rotate them religiously every 5k) they're showing some signs of wear but not bad, and wearing evenly across the tread. I've not had them in deep snow or deep mud as yet (conditions just haven't shown up as yet- I don't go looking for those conditions but I don't avoid them either), especially towing my travel trailer but I'm actually looking forward to it! Hope this helps you
@@markharvey7988 Falkens do they drive harder than Coppers ? Now I am with Copper AT3 4S but I wonder who are more comfortable Copper or Fallken. I heard that fallken have a harder ride. How you fell them ???
I had these in a 265/75r16 in the non LT on a ranger and they were great tires. Quiet for as aggressive as they look. I live down south, so no snow but, they did very good in the rain. And I went through a few places I didn't think an all terrain would take me. Great tires!
LT mean Light Truck. Usually 10ply. And "light truck" is referring to full size trucks, not rangers and Tacomas. But you can technically put them on whatever truck you want, people do it all the time. I just rather have a lighter and better ridding tire on my small truck.
@@headdownharris In addition to the other explanations, LT tires (Light Truck) have a higher load-bearing capacity. Tires are often the weakest link - if your truck has a load capacity of X pounds, the tires need to meet or exceed them if you're actually hauling that kind of weight.
Just ordered a set of LT265/70/18 for my tundra. My two sons have Falken A/T 3 on their Jeep Commander and pathfinder and love them, i’m looking forward to trying them out.
@@CheekyMonkey888 I’m still riding on them, can’t remember when I posted this but so far so good, I pull a landscape trailer every day and I average about 40,000 a year, I just hit 180,000 miles and I believe I put them on about 147,000. And they still have at least another year left on the tread.
I have these tires. By far my favorite tire. I will never buy another tire ever again. I have no problems with my LT tires. But with 10 ply you shouldn't.
Just put a set on my 2014 Silverado half ton. 4wd Crew 6 foot bed. Love them for only day one. Can tell a huge difference already. 275/70/18s 10ply. Used to run 265/70/18 Nitto Terra Grappler.
Well, this video has answered several questions that my conscience has burdened me with; if a Jeep Wrangler handled perfectly with the Falken Wildpeak AT3W tires, then my 2007 Ford F-150 XLT should handle itself with those tires, despite that I'd have to purchase a set that comes in size 265/70R17. I may have lost two different black hatchbacks in the past, but I don't plan on losing my forest green Ford pickup anytime soon nor at all; not a damn chance.

Before I choose tires the falken is one choice. I have a 2018 Chevy Silverado. I'd like to see more videos on pick up trucks than Jeep's. Keep the videos coming, thanks
@@jaimebravo6631 road noise I haven’t not noticed anything drastic or noticible to be honest. Mpg did take a hit about 1-2mpg down from original however these tires are magnificent and stand out in wet and snow specifically. Def recommend after 1k miles on them
I also have an express and my used set of duratracs are loud and don’t think they will last another winter…debating on these but love the look of the duratracs.
Putting these Falkens on my Ram 2500 next week. I have been looking around for a month reviewing an endless amount of data on dozens of brands and these seem to have the most rounded performance in all types of weather.. Can't wait to test them here on Cedar Mountain in our winter wonderland 👍Great vid, very much appreciate it.

Buddy your killing me I watched 3 of your video's. Wildpeaks at3w, grabber atx and the firestone xt's. All great tires having a hard time picking for my f150. Lol. Great video's by the way. Very informative. Cheers....
I chose the Wildpeaks again because discount tire had a flash sale. Grabber ATX didn’t look as good in person. The Firestone XTs look awesome but were a bit pricy
@@k9feces thanks for the advice. Your right I seen the grabber atx in person a couple of days ago. Didnt like them. And the destination x/t are 254.69 a tire here in Ontario Canada. And I haven't found a bad review on the wildpeaks at3w. I think I will get the wildpeaks at3w for my f150. But I will get p-rated since I don't pull a trailer or haul anything heavy and only go off road to go camping or to get to the odd fishing hole. Thanks again.
I have been considering these tires for my 2010 chevy colorado (the little years before they grew to almost Silverado size) and everything i see and read about them reinforces that decision. Gonna swap out my 16x6 rims for 14x8 and make up the overall size with larger aspect ratio, love that look. And these tires are so affordable, starting at under $500 per set.
I've been contemplating BFG ko2s vs these Falcons on my jeep. How do you think the tire volume on the freeway compares between the two? I mostly see limestone ledges and slick/hard mud offroad, how do you think the two tires would compare, specifically in the mud?
Gonna put a set on my wifes xj, then buy a set for my 57 cj6.... UPDATE: Been running them for 3 weeks, great tires, best a/t tire I ever had, waiting for some snow now....
Living in North Dakota, these are awesome. I don't have to use 4x4 through the snow. Do they come studded? That'd be even better. 6th Jeep and have always lived in the snow ❄️.
I’m Seriously thinking about getting a set I really like everything about them... ... I usually go with general grabbers AT2 ... but the excellent minds at general tire decided to discontinue the size I use on my Jeep......
Iceman 213 get them you won't regret it. I switched from a mud terrain to these and was in awe from the moment I left the tire shop. Excellent wet handling. For reference these were on my Hummer H3 so considering it's weight they made the ride and drive so much smoother and gripped the pavement. I'm about to pull the trigger on some 35s for my Ram Sport.

Curious how much difference in wet handli g there between LT and non-lt versions. That's ine if the tire's strong piunts that attracted me to them. I plan on towing a 7k lb travel trailer with them on my f150. Wet conditions are expected without notice.
@@dustincormier4358 The physical difference between 275/60R20 and 275/55R20 isn't much, but the 55's have a better load rating ("XL"). 60's are standard load "SL". XL is the next best thing to LT tires. Stepping into LT tires gives a much better load rating and more ply but it comes at a cost - both price and weight. Get what is appropriate to how you use your truck.
i got a 94 RWD astro van and im shopping around for 235/75R15s to beef up the look/ride better than the 215/75R15 destination Le2s, what size tire/rim you running? i was considering also going to a 16" rim for more selection
I bought the "P" version specifically for its wet road capability and I have been impressed with their performance in this area. I have never had a better rain tire on any truck I have owned, they simply tract true and with no spinning of the wheels as they try and get traction - these tires are locked onto the road! Cornering and ride comfort are equally superior to most tires in this class and, in fact, I can recall none that are better. I have yet to get them in the snow, but all reviews I have read state that they do indeed excel here as well. An attractive looking tire that is priced well below the other leaders in its class, while offering the 55,000 mile warranty - how can you go wrong? They are without a doubt the best All Terrain tires I have even ridden on.
What kind of truck & tire size are you running P version? I current have a 5th Gen Ram 1500 with Nitto RG & want to replace them for better tires for rain in Florida.
After the Blacktop Ends Did you have to lift your wifes jeep to make these tires fit? I have a stock 2016 jeep grand cherokee limited 4x4 and was wondering if they would fit without a lift?
It will all depend on the size of tire you buy, usually lifting the Grands and adding wheel spacers is needs to fit a bigger tire but sometimes depending on budget and if it is easy enough to lift your Grand. I mean if you have solid axles it is easy to lift even 2 inches. We have a lot of information and very experienced people on our website www.aftertheblacktopends.com that can help you with your quest of searching for information to help you out
Performance in mud is awesome. Check out our Yoko XMT tire review for the conditions. We have a set of these Falkens on a '76 landcruiser FJ40 and it followed me everywhere.
There is no way....I got like around 30,000 miles and they are totally shot. No tire will go that many miles. The highest rated tires are around 60-70,000 miles but they never get that many miles. Why lie?
@@toddhebebrand9633 what the fuck does my diving have to do with tire wear. No accidents or tickets in 25 years. I drive the speed limit, I don't peel out and I rotate my tires as recommended. Question, how would these fair on a NON 4x4 Grand Cherokee? I head to the mountains a good amount in the winter and would like a little extra something while driving up and being in mixed conditions. It isnt normally snowing hard core when I head up so this would be to help avoid needing chains all the time and roam land thats not paved/comletely even. I am also curious about durability as I drive a good amount in the City/Highway.
I've been looking at these as a replacement tires on my 2019 FX4 Ranger, the Hankooks are OK but looking for something a little more aggressive. I don't do much "rock crawling" but do get into some rough trails when we go mountain climbing here in Colorado. Has anyone tried the Falken Rubitrek A/T? How would it compare to the Wildpeak? From what I've seen on there website I can go with the XL, and not the LT, and still get the Silica compound and 6 ply.
Bought a set Wildpeak AT3 for my 2019 Tundra. The dealer (who will be nameless here, as they are nice and apologetic) messed up the alignment; position angle sensor alignment error / problem - steering wheel is crooked and the traction control system is not working. So I have to bring it in to their bigger service location that the proper equipment (probably better trained personnel). Well, the tires look good on my truck, but I won’t know if I like them until tomorrow AM.
I've had these on my 4x4 F150 for almost 20k miles now and I finally got to see how good they are in freezing weather, 8" of snow and on snow packed, icy roads. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give them about a 7 in snow, because I did a lot more slipping and sliding than I'd like. In fact, on one snowpacked/slushy 90 degree curve I nearly went straight off the other side even though my wheels were turned with no brakes applied. I was only traveling 15 mph. I had about 35 lbs of pressure in the tires and 420 lbs of sand in the bed. Pretty scary. Also, I'll give them a 7 on wet pavement too. Here's some advice: Drive below the posted speed limit in adverse conditions on these tires. Don't get overly confident with them, you may regret it. I do like they way they handle, especially on dry pavement, they're not noisy on the interstate and they look tough. I did loose 2-3 mpg's with these, but I went one size taller and wider.
I don't understand what he said about the silica. I have the LT Version on my 2011 f150 stx and I like the tires but the truck runs rough, cracks in the road feel jarring yet railroad crossings are fine. Does the silica make for a smoother softer less jarring ride?
If its the e10(10ply) LT it's going to ride ruff like you say, My 2010 Tundra came stock with BFG KO's in a e10 (10Ply) tread 3ply side wall and that road like steel wheels. The P tires have less ply's, which let them flex more over stuff on the road and off road, making for a softer feeling ride. I put this on the truck in a P type and love them, truck rides so much smoother than the BFG KO's.
Lower your tire pressure. Do a chalk test. If they are overfilled your teeth will chatter. E rated are made to hold more tire pressure for heavier trucks. If you have these on a 1500 or Jeep you need to lower the pressure.
I'm torn between these, the Grabber ATX and the Cooper AT3s. I drive 80+% on road, but need AT for weekend fun. I have a '21 Sierra AT4. The road noise of the stock tires drives me crazy...any thoughts on the 3 options?
Good, great video, congratulations! , unfortunately in Romania we do not find them, only the falken version at3WA, What do you know about them? Size 215 65 r16. Are they as good as falken at3w?
Been running DuraTracs for years now on Tacoma's but getting sick of the loudness and stiff ride. You cant beat the DuraTracs in harsh New England weather but I am sick of dealing with how noisy they can even when brand new. I am getting these Falkens this weekend and will be putting them to the test immediately. I have always sacrificed the loud harsh ride with MTs and AT's in the past so I am hoping this tire really can perform and give me a nicer quieter ride without sacrificing off road, snow and ice capabilities.
You're going to love them. Not as quiet as a passenger tire but they for an A/T. Best of all they are almost unstoppable on the right truck. Is your Taco a TRD or Pro?
I ran DTs on my Silverado. Loved them but wanted to drop a tire size for a new trailer. I went with the LT and have been surprised at the noise difference, handling, and general road feel. They seem to do just as well off road. I've been really impressed with them!
@@sputty08 my DTs have been on less than a week and driving me crazy. I think they are off balance. The rear is making more notice than the front and I'm not sure if it's in head or not but I I swear I'm feeling some wabbling at higher speeds on the highway. Not gonna spend more time and effort into the DTs since they are coming off soon.
@@FrankBurgos I've been through 2 sets of DTs on my truck and not experienced this with either, both sets were great tires. It does sound like an installation issue. I have had that happen a few times. I had Cooper ATPs on another truck and had to get those road force balanced to get them to run true. Hated those things.
I put a set of these on my 95 Jeep Cherokee Country last week...I did so cause of the reviews and the price I was quoted where I have the vehicle maintained...$114.66 each, mounted and balanced, and he threw in a T-Shirt from Falken...The ride is quiet and they stick to the road well...I can't say for any bad weather performance yet, haven't had any...Had a set of Kumho's A/T's that are no longer made and they were on for 6 years...Was an excellent A/T tire...As of right now, I have one major complaint with the A/T3w's, they have a very stiff sidewall and ya feel it...I had Goodyear R/T's and the Kumho A/T's and though it's a Jeep, there had it all over these Falken's for road comfort...All I can say is they best preform well in bad weather cause I'm not at all happy with the ride comfort from these tires...I also hesitated on Falken's period because of two family members that had different model on their vehicles and they just plain sucked...My daughters car was just plain dangerous in any type of snow and had to be towed or pushed several times...The other set rode like the ole bias ply in cold weather...They would get a flat spot on em and thump down the rode till they warmed up...Also not very secure feeling with them on snowy roads...Certainly the tread design appears as if it will dig thru snow, but I can also see where as they wear down, they may very well be like driving on hockey pucks as the sips wear away...Only time will tell...
I think you’ll be happy over the long haul. I’ve got about 10k on mine. I drive them at 32 psi which softens the ride a bit. My suspension is pretty hard so I’ve never had a plush ride.
@@4WDMagazine Time we'll tell and have to say they do seem to have soften a bit, but still rattles the bones on hard bumps...One thing I did notice and was covered in some reviews I had read...Lateral sliding...We had a bit of snow a few weeks ago and I was in an area that wasn't yet plowed, parking lot where I have a storage unit...Cornering at the back end of the units to get to mine, certainly at a slow speed, the front end slid as I make that corner...Surprised me for sure and something I'll have to watch if and when we get a sizable storm while on the road...I have to admit, I'm kinda harsh with my attitude right now cause of past history with other Falken model tires family members experienced...So I maybe a bit unfair...I will say the do give me a good bit of comfort as far as sticking to a dry road...Have to say I got to look at 4 General Grabbers at the garage today and really liked them and the depth and give in the tread...My first choice would have been the KO 2, but I just couldn't past up the price I paid for these...
Seems to be a great tire overall, although I've noticed it is really picking up and throwing the anti-skid during winter, has wore rockers down to bare metal in spots and destroyed a mudflap on my frontier. Anyone else noticing similar effects from these tires?
@@vadimnesen8060 Not following how thats the issue? The tread pattern, size of gaps between tread lugs particularly would be the contributing factor. Factory specified size for the truck, a less aggressive tread pattern like an all-season doesn't have this issue.
Thanks for the review, I am in the market for new truck tires and these are on my short list. I haven't looked at Falken in a long time, I didn't know they were still around. I had a set of these on my Mustang GT years ago. All the reviews seem to be favorable and these are price much lower than some of the big name brands. Definitely factors into the equation. I still have some tough decisions to make though. Thanks
We've had some issues with Falken years ago but we have these on my rig again for winter and an old Landcruiser, you can't go wrong. The Landcruiser followed me almost everywhere I went with these Yoko X-MT's - ua-cam.com/video/aLBspRM1YBc/v-deo.html
I've watched several different videos on tire comparison and see that all the different tires have pluses and negatives. I think the best thing to do is get the ones you like then keep proper air amounts in them and rotate at the proper intervals. Learn how to drive in mad, snow and wet roads and any of these tires should suffice...
I'm considering the Falken wildpeak at3w on either an Audi Q7 or Mitsubishi Outlander, for the snow in the Colorado mountains. I'll also use them for fun back in Texas outback and hill country. Whichever SUV I get, I have a feeling these tires will get me where I want to go, perform well for me on whatever the weather has to throw at me, while keeping me safe and on the road or trails, as needed. I look forward to having a lot of fun with them!
I've got 46,000 miles on my Falken Wildpeak AT3W's now. Mounted on Jeep Wrangler JKU. They still have some tread left to them. They have been a good tire. almost great. The only real complaint I have is their performance in MUD. Not Awesome. Better than a street tire, but they still turn into racing slicks pretty quick, in my experience. I am considering the Falken Wildpeak MT for my next set, but hoping to find out if the MT has sacrificed much of the road characteristics for the extra space between the shoulder lugs.
MT's in mud will be better. My AT's have been really good in mud on my JKU and we threw a set on an old '76 land cruiser and it was crazy where it could go in the slop. It followed me almost everywhere on the Falkens in this video for Yoko X-M/T's.
You seem to be saying the LT ditches the silica in favor of durability, which kind of makes sense if the silica helps with traction. However, Falken website says this: “SUPERIOR WEAR LIFE - Silica tread compound delivers superior wear life and wet performance (non‐LT sizes).” LT obviously more heavy duty, but 🤔
Great video, I just picked up an '18 4R Off Road and will be trading in my dealer tires for a set of these I think. I live in the PNW so the set with the silica sound perfect for rain, snow, mud, pavement. Great pricing on them also, and these came recommended by a friend who overlands in his 4Runner.
I just bought a set of these for my 2016 F-150. Anyone have experience with these on 'black ice' on the highway? I live in Alaska and our roads get pretty bad up here.
Black ice is bad. These tires do have the mountain snowflake though and they felt great on the winter roads we tested them on. I just put them back on my Jeep and use them as my winter tire here in BC.
at 1:49 he say that the LT version lose traction in wet but but better durability, so I guess it means tread should last longer. I think I'll go with the P since it's better on snow and here it's a must.
@@goudan my son bought the cooper discovery at3 4s on his dodge ram 1500. Awesome tire in all seasons especially snow. We did a tire rotation after around I'd say 10,000 km and there were no slices or chunks and hardly any wear at all. Tire still looked brand new. So I might be getting these tires for my f150.
@@goudan For someone who lives in a hot, dry, dusty climate (Southern California), do you think it might be a good idea to go with the LT version? I would imagine that tires built for winter wont handle the hot temperatures very well.
Agreed. We just got back from wheeling through muddy trails. I couldn't believe the performance.
I got them on my 19 tacoma. Great tires, have 24,000 miles on them, no complaints.
Have these on my Raptor. 55k miles and should last at least 10k more. Love them.
Thanks for contributing - great honest info!
Getting some use now!
Awesome! Thanks for the real world comments!
gbittingjr same here you said it all ,
Got them for a week now.
Thanks for commenting with personal experience. Awesome!
Just bought these over the ko2’s and so happy with my decision. They are just better tires all around imo. I’ve used ko2’s basically my entire life and they are great tires but the falkens have blown me away on my 4runner.
Andy Ham
I'm going to get these tires for my 98 Jeep Wrangler TJ. I was told the same that these tires are much quieter then the KO 2's.
Are the wild peaks quieter and smoother on the highway ?
The KO2 came out in 2016. 5 years is basically your entire life? But seriously, are you still liking the Falkens? I had KO2s on my Xterra and they were great, I still had some tread left after 55,000 miles but they got super squirrely on wet asphalt towards the end. Looking at the Falkens for my ZR2.
Just bought some LT Wildpeaks for my Silverado, thinking similar for wifes forester, will check it out.
Hey boys northern Ontario weather goes from -30 to freezing rain in no time,I ride this rubbers, 275/70R20 and they great on any terrain and quiet
Thanks for letting us know. They haven't disappointed me yet either.
Was a grabber at2 fan but now I swear by these. Put a set on both my f150s and haven't looked back.
I’ve had these tires for two year and over 20k miles in rain, snow, dirt, rocks, and pavement. They hold up really good and are surprisingly quiet. They also look really rugged on my 5th gen 4Runner. Would definitely recommend them.
I'm going to slap some of these on my 3rd gen. Thanks
How are you liking these on your 4runner? What size and load rating did you get?
@@cornfed98 I love em, 2nd set. They’re 285/70/17 and great all around snow, dirt, street tires.
Glad your Dad likes them 👍
Been a very popular tire at my Ford dealership. I actually went with the MT version of the wildpeak on my F150. Love them!
I have 18,000 on my set of wild peaks.. overall I can say in my experience they are a better tire than the k02 an the Goodyear wrangler At.. i had both an so far wild peaks are my favorite tire..
ronnie parker I wish they weren’t like $20 more per tire now than the KO2; at least in the size I’m interested in.
I just put a set of these A/T 's on my Ram 3500, and I will tell you they grab great in the snow!
Im going from a 275/70r18 to a 285 and wonder how much different the sizes will be
Avies48 I usually run them at 40 psi.
I’ve only run one size: 275 60/R20
I put these on my ram 3500 last week because of the reviews and they were 400 dollars cheaper than the toyo's I put on my wife's rig. They are by far the best a/t I have ran on any rig so far. It's December here in oregon and they are doing an outstanding job. I like that they ride great and the noise is not noticeable. Try them, I think you will like them
Did you get the LT tires or the P titres w/ the silica in the tire compound?
Do you do much or any heavy hauling with them? Curious as to how the sidewalls are.
Like always, very professional and put together well
Thanks. I'll continue driving them and post any updates. I have a few overland trips coming up.
2015 ram 1500. 600 miles so far. I feel ready for a Wisconsin winter with these tires.

@joe scott How have they held up on your ram? I have a 2016 Ram and I looking into getting these.
Looking for my 17 Ram 1500 sport, also in Wisconsin. Are you happy with the tires? Would you buy again? I'm replacing the crappy stock tires.
I just bought these tires for my truck and I cannot wait to feel the difference between all season and A/T tires.
Same here, mine get here Friday!!!!
These are about to go on my 97 jeep ZJ. I'm quite excited
Awesome - you'll love them!
CheddaFace Boiii the performance and look is going to blow your mind ,great tires
Which tires didn't go the distance?
@@4WDMagazine Michelin LTX AT2(rated at 70,000), and Cooper Discoverer AT3 (rated at 55,000). I'm a stickler for tire pressures and rotation, and these tires all wore evenly and uniformly across the tread face with the exception of some very light feathering on the outside shoulder. I'm very happy with HOW they wore, just not how long.

@@Kiddomike I've gotta say, so far I really like them. Rain, snow, dry, so far they're super! I've not had them in deep snow or deep mud as yet (conditions just haven't shown up as yet- I don't go looking for those conditions but I don't avoid them either), especially towing my travel trailer but I'm actually looking forward to it! Xterra?
I had these in a 265/75r16 in the non LT on a ranger and they were great tires. Quiet for as aggressive as they look. I live down south, so no snow but, they did very good in the rain. And I went through a few places I didn't think an all terrain would take me. Great tires!
Please let me know what the LT designation means. Thanks.

I have these on my Ram 1500 4x4 and they're awesome! I'll definitely buy these again.

BLUE KAOS 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 thanks for getting back to me.... I’m hearing nothing but good things about them . I’m not going to lie I’m still shopping but there definitely on the top of my list . .....again thanks & have a great one 👍🏼

Curious how much difference in wet handli g there between LT and non-lt versions. That's ine if the tire's strong piunts that attracted me to them. I plan on towing a 7k lb travel trailer with them on my f150. Wet conditions are expected without notice.
I'm gonna get some. Great review.
Have them on my 2016 ram 1500 love them best tire I have ever had on a truck 275/60r20
I really want to get them for my f150. How are you liking the 60 series? So back and forth for 55 or 60 series. Lol
@@dustincormier4358 60s are stock size for my ram the size is equivalent to 33x11 and look awesome
Thinking of getting them. How’s the road noise?
@@dustincormier4358 The physical difference between 275/60R20 and 275/55R20 isn't much, but the 55's have a better load rating ("XL"). 60's are standard load "SL". XL is the next best thing to LT tires. Stepping into LT tires gives a much better load rating and more ply but it comes at a cost - both price and weight. Get what is appropriate to how you use your truck.
Just put 'em on my '04 4X4 Astro van
i got a 94 RWD astro van and im shopping around for 235/75R15s to beef up the look/ride better than the 215/75R15 destination Le2s, what size tire/rim you running? i was considering also going to a 16" rim for more selection
Great vid! Thanks for the review.
Thanks. We appreciate the kudos.
Is "P" Rated lighter or something? What is the advantage over "LT"? I actually would like the lighter tire if possible.
What kind of truck & tire size are you running P version? I current have a 5th Gen Ram 1500 with Nitto RG & want to replace them for better tires for rain in Florida.
@@MegaScorpio43 the LTs are much heavier and lack the silica that make the P rated tires grippier
A/T3W or Grabber A/TX? Grabber is almost $100 cheaper a tire in 37x12.5r17 on a ram 2500 power wagon. I'm in NB Canada so lots of snow in the winter.
Falkens
Wait just a minute, how can the sipes provide suction to the ground and the tire have low rolling resistance at the same time?
Great video We bought these for my wife's Jeep TJ she loves them
After the Blacktop Ends Did you have to lift your wifes jeep to make these tires fit? I have a stock 2016 jeep grand cherokee limited 4x4 and was wondering if they would fit without a lift?
It will all depend on the size of tire you buy, usually lifting the Grands and adding wheel spacers is needs to fit a bigger tire but sometimes depending on budget and if it is easy enough to lift your Grand. I mean if you have solid axles it is easy to lift even 2 inches. We have a lot of information and very experienced people on our website www.aftertheblacktopends.com that can help you with your quest of searching for information to help you out
Best tires i ever owned!
Great video. What do you recommend the falken wildpeak at3w or the general grabber atx. Thanks.
I’ve also seen your video of the Destination XT; how do you feel these compare, specifically in snow?
Im curious to see how they perform in mud and sand. Anyone have experience with them in those conditions?
Performance in mud is awesome. Check out our Yoko XMT tire review for the conditions. We have a set of these Falkens on a '76 landcruiser FJ40 and it followed me everywhere.
De-best car shoes around MT!
@4WD Magazine you never really talked in detail about how they did on the broken concrete. Did you shred any?
I’ve got 90k on my falkens still going I will b buying another set.
There is no way....I got like around 30,000 miles and they are totally shot. No tire will go that many miles. The highest rated tires are around 60-70,000 miles but they never get that many miles. Why lie?

Great review. Thanks! Wish they made a load range D 33” of this tire. Going to have to go with the duratrac.
Thanks for commenting. Knowing how they perform on different vehicles is very good info.

@@mcjrzeus Ummm.... I also pulled my nephew's Chevy pick-up truck out of his driveway with my "Ford!" Doh!
There isn’t a tire on earth that isn’t going to slide if you’re going too fast. 4x4 isn’t invincibility mode.
@@jasonbeatty4108 Really? Well thank you for sharing your insightfulness. I'll remember that next time.... smh
Why did he say 10/16th of an inch instead of 5/8ths?
Or 20/32nds, since tires are typically measured in 32nds.
That’s how they measure tire tread
Curious if you have reviewed the Deegan 38 all terrains? I'm deciding between the deegans or the falkens. Same price almost exactly.

@@4WDMagazine I currently own a 2017 TRD Pro. It's my 4th Tacoma in the past 20 year's. :)
Is anyone running these on a 7.3 Diesel Excursion 10 ply ?? How are they doing IF so ?
In Canada we measure speed with KM/H
Seems to be a great tire overall, although I've noticed it is really picking up and throwing the anti-skid during winter, has wore rockers down to bare metal in spots and destroyed a mudflap on my frontier. Anyone else noticing similar effects from these tires?
That's a size issue . Nothing to do with tire design or quality.
Thanks

I've had them on two of my ram 2500 trucks you can't go wrong in snow and rain with these tires,
I've got 46,000 miles on my Falken Wildpeak AT3W's now.
However, Falken website says this: “SUPERIOR WEAR LIFE - Silica tread compound delivers superior wear life and wet performance (non‐LT sizes).” LT obviously more heavy duty, but 🤔
Looks like a great A/T tire. Does it come with white letters? 😁
What tread will last longer. The lt version or the p rated version?
at 1:49 he say that the LT version lose traction in wet but but better durability, so I guess it means tread should last longer. I think I'll go with the P since it's better on snow and here it's a must.
@@goudan my son bought the cooper discovery at3 4s on his dodge ram 1500. Awesome tire in all seasons especially snow.
