Such joy to see when people cooperate internationally for a good case. Thank you for your dedication. Love from a Burmese cat owner from Stockholm, Sweden ❤
Please don't listen to the breeder about their diet raw meat has worms therefore the cat will develop worms. domestic cats evolved over millennia to have a shorter colon meaning they can't digest raw meat the way a wild cat can. Breeders have No qualifications in animal care just what they think is best. Check with a vet and they will tell you even kittens get worms via their mums milk and must be wormed once they're weaned from mums milk.
Amazing video. I love that Burmese cats are living and thriving again in Burma. I started looking at different cat breeds today. I have a 15 year old male, mixed breed named G-Purrs and a year old Bombay cat, she's Black with almost red (sable) in the sunlight, short legs, stocky with round gold eyes. I named her Onyx, she is so loving and active, playing with all of her toys and actually moves the toys to the area she wants to play in and can leap further than any cat I've ever raised. I hope you will do follow up on the Burmese cats now in Burma. Sending love and hugs to all from Onyx and G-Purrs too.
this is awesome to reintroduce the Burmese to its original home and also impressive is the cat lady from Australia without whom this program would not have come to frution..
Don't be impressed. RAW meat is bad for domestic cats, they have evolved over millennia to have shorter colon's because of living with humans. Wild cats can cope with raw meat. Any domstic cat fed raw meat will get worms from the raw meat. breeders have some wild notions as they look to making the best show cats any other kittens will be sold. They play with eugenics while having no real knowledge I've had pedigree cats with congenital health issues that killed one and once a post mortum was carried out the other kitten was checked out. One other cat from a Breeder had a heart murmur and died at 5 because of it. A domestic cat will choose who she mates with. she wants the best males she can find to give her kittens the best start in life. This is why if a litter has say 3 black cats, two ginger and one white cat you can assume they have 3 fathers. As a cat can become pregnant to more than one male cat. A pedigree cat is selected by the breeder as is the male she wants to mate with her. The cat has no say in this which is why a large number of pedigree cats have congenital/ inbred health issues.
I was told about Inthar in 2012 when I was staying at the vets guesthouse in Inle. As I have had many Burmese cats over the years I was keen to visit and really surprised by the high quality accommodation the cats enjoyed. You can go into the cat enclosures and play with the cats as like any Burmese cats enjoy human company, they didn’t appear bored and seemed to really enjoy their environment. A wonderful place for any cat lover to visit when at Inle.
Burmese cats as so adorable not even the breeders really want to let them go. I was going to be a breeder when I got my second pair and after one month I changed my mind. Now, I have the love of four Burmese cats and I'm in cat heaven. If you can get one do so and feel the love.
+H Scott I got one a few months ago....10 week old kitten at the time. Mother's a Burmese from Thailand, dad is a Tonkinese from Florida; so technically my guy is 75% Burmese, 25% Siamese. Unbelievably affectionate, beautiful, smart, etc. My little guy (not so little any more) even fetches a little mouse-toy we have. I paid $900. Best money I've ever spent.
I have 7 cats left from the 10 I had. There are now Two British Shorthair and 5 Burmese. Of my Burmese 2 are dark brown and 2 are milk chocolate and one Blue. They are an exceptional breed of cat. Loving, always wanting attention, want to be part of what your doing - even when you visit the toilet. you can try locking them out - theyre excellent at opening doors, cupboards, drawers. If they get bored they will chew slippers, newspapers, books, letters and even wooden furniture. One of the cats who died was Coco she loved to chew the corners of the wooden furniture. You can never have just one burmese you need at least 2. theyre very talkative . They love to play and are born knowing how to play fetch! a game they never get bored playing. they also want to sleep with you. They play together, groom each other and play fight each other. Their coats are incredible smooth like velvet and shiny. Life isn'tcomplete until your living with Burmese cats. Feeding cats raw meat is so BAD. Breeders have no idea of the reality of feeding animals. They have no qualifications in veterinarian medicine - that takes 7 years training. Feeding raw meat to a domestic cat is wrong - domestic cats have evolved over millennia to have shorter colons than wild cats who do eat raw meat. eating raw meat means WORMS - cats will have to be wormed as raw meat contains parasitic worms, that would be killed if cooked. these worms are extremley harmful to young kittens and cats. Kittens will contract worms from their mother from the breast milk, meaning each cat wether eating raw or cooked meat needs to be wormed once they have been weaned from mum's milk. I mean no disrespect to breeders but they are just ordinary people with no qualifications and play with eugenics trying to produce the best show cat. I have lost at least one of my cats because of a breeder mating two cats together and having several litters all born with congenital illness from Diaphramatic Hernias ( a hole in the diaphragm if left untreated will result in the cats internal organs entering the pericardial space causing a massive fatal heart attack. Another kitten had heart murmurs and died age 5 because of it. An ordinary street cat instinctivly knows which male cat will give her the healthiest litter of kittens that have the chance of survival. For those who are unaware a litter of kittens born to an ordinary cat who goes out and about can produced a litter with each kitten having a different father! so if you've ever seen a litter that has for instance 3 black cats and 1 ginger cat - now you know why. A pedigree cat is only allowed to breed with just one male cat. The breeder is looking to win prizes at cat shows. So they will breed their best two cats together and and any kitten that shows the potential to be a show cat will be kept the rest are sold on to the public. I've encountered many breeders and they all have their own weird and wonderful ways they think are great regimes for the cats. Speak to a reputable vet about the advice your breeder has given you and you will find completely different answers as to why eating raw meat is bad for a cat. You can not give cat's bones to chew upon, this is dangerous as a cat's anatomy is very much different from a dog's. There are special toothbrushes for cats and toothpaste too, it's a fish flavour and has special enzymes to tackle dental problems. If in doubt - Speak to a Vet - find a reputable one.
You don't have much knowledge about breeding if you let the cats mate with whomever they like. There must have been a lot of inbreeding in the beginning of their program. And you don't have much knowledge about breeding if you don't know anything about the breeding standards before you start out. Hopefully this will now be adjusted with a proper breeding program where this is taken into consideration. I am glad they met with the Australian breeder that was very serious about helping them. She cared more about the breed and the cats than about the money. For the UK breeders it is obviously all about the money. You have my respect, Vera Taborsky. They are lucky to have you as a mentor. This was an awesome video. Thank you, film makers.
Love My Coco she is a champagne Burmese! She has Asthma.... I am going to try raw food and she if she improves. Thanks for sharing your beautiful Burmese Islands and new inhabitants.
Awesome video -- I have 4 Burms , 1 is a Brown/Seal Burm and the other 3 are chocolates.....Awesome cats .......if you are a serious cat lover and would love to have a dog in a cats body , get a Burm..... You must spend Lots and Lots of time with them so dont get one if you dont have the time
These Burmese cats are different from the Burmese in Europe. European Burmese cats have round heads, cheeks and round dark yellow eyes. My cat looks same like this video. She has long legs, huge ears, a narrow head and light eyes. She jumps very well, friendly, gentle and kind cat, takes care of our second Siamese cat.
15:03 "throughout all of SEA, people feed their cats with rice..." Not true, maybe only certain areas and people of older generations do that. Here in Malaysia, most cat rescuers and foster carers won't even let you adopt their cats if you can't agree to provide the cats with proper or even premium cat food.
They should be regularly examined by vets. You can't just hand over these beautiful cats without educating the carers about the physical, mental and emotional aspects of cats. I'm was a bit saddened that they were just being superficially cared for because it looked good on the outside but real attention and care requires more than building a house and playing with them. These cats need their dietary and medical needs met. It seems not a single person bothered to research and learn how to properly look after these cats. Feeding them rice and cooked fish every day probably did some harm. Thank god for the visit from the Australian breeder.
I live in Thailand. I have Burmese and Siam cats. Burmese has health problems. But the local vets can't help her. It’s surprising for a me that cats are fed river fish, but Thai people also feed rice and fish. Maybe this is right for these cats? I feed the holistic dry food. It’s good cat food, but my cat still has problems.
This project makes people confused and misunderstood as the burmese cat 's not a burma cat, it 's thai cat. Why they didn't do a research 😭😭😭. It's ridiculous as they said bring them back home 😞😮
I can't see what all the fuss is all about. I know a lady here in Cornwall that breeds the brown Burmese, so you won't have to go to effing Harrods, unless you are a complete toff...
No, you're wrong. The cats that originated from Thailand, are the Siamese, NOT Burmese., totally different breed of cat! If you know your geography history, you'd know Thailand was originally called 'Siam'
Obviously you have no knowledge of cat breeding. The cat we call the Burmese was bred from a breed we now call the Tonkinese which is only a variety of the Siamese .Also the Burmese in western countries has been bred to many other breeds
@@KangaRubes If you bother to check the facts the Burmese was developed from a cat called Wong Mau what we would today call a Tonkinese.I breed Tonkinese and some look like Siamese and some like Burmese These cats are in Thailand are all the same breed -colour wise.In the West they have been developed into separate breeds.
While the cats are beautiful and taken good care of, it's nonsense to claim that they have been re-introduced to their original home. The Burmese cat originated from Thailand. The name "Burmese cat" was given to them from early breaders. These cats are no more connected to Burma than Persian cats to Persia.
These are cats that are bred to be a certain way they're not an actual native species. It's actually nice that mixed breed cats are receiving love and attention. Now that the mixed breeds have competition they are prone to over population and neglect. Breeding cats for humane entertainment is unnatural and should be abolished. Please stop playing God by trying to control animals for your selfish purpose.

This video is awesome. I've had Brown Burmese cats all my life! I'm also travelling to burma in Jan and will visit
How was the visit?
They are one of the best breed of cats. I just recently lost my 16 yr old Champagne Burmese cat. I got him since he was 3 mos back in 2003.
This is PURE awesomeness. Welcome back home royal cats of Burma.
They are the sweetest cat! Mine is on my lap purring up a storm as a watch this!
How lovely I adore the cats beautiful love the video its great to see the cats are being loved and care for just wonderful
I want to thank you for your dedication to this special breed, The Burmese Cat, and taking them back to their Homeland.
Special thanks for reintroducing Burmese cats to Burma. Without their efforts I would have never seen pure Burmese cat breed in my own country.
