    If you’re considering a burmese cat, do it! I’ve had 3 and they are unlike any animal. Mine plays fetch, talks back and is extremely affectionate. He would be happy if I just carried around everywhere with me. Plus they are so beautiful looking. You will never regret getting a burm. They are really life changing. My only advise... get two. They will be much happier.

    We used to have Burmese. They are SO smart! So affectionate and intelligent. When ever Bonnie would hear me brush my teeth for bed she'd run to my bed and wait for me to get in to bed with her. We took her on walks without a lead and she would be gone for hours until you shout her name and she'd peak her head out like "Hey! I'm here!".

So i'd be home with it except for when i'm at physical therapy, which is 45min a week, when that starts up again. If i do get the okay for fulltime work again, i'd consider getting a second. So did you get a cat? We adopted a Ragdoll from the local Animal Protection. I call it the family psychologist; calming and uplifting influence on everyone. Ragdoll's have Burmese (edit or more likely Birman not sure) in them and sound quite similar to this video like following you around the house, affectionate, friendly to everyone, never scratches people. But he likes to keep a 1m distance and has his alone time for afternoon sleep and walks in the evening, so less intense than the Burmese it seems. Long haired so deep brushing every day; Its fun, and cats hairs to vacuum all the time so more 'grooming ' than a Burmese needed.

    A Burmese is a very smart and unique breed. They are loyal. Follow you around. They "talk" a lot. And they do need love and attention. They sleep for periods but when they awake they need interaction or they get very anxious and hyperactive. The producer of this channel explains just about everything. I am confirming much of what she says. And take you cat for regular check ups. They can live very long lives when loved and cared for. My first Platinum Burmese, Nala, lived nearly 20 years. My present Platinum, Sky, is a female and is 4 years old. Many similar personality traits to my first one. I like your channel.

    I have 5 Burmese cats.... I have no kids.... Let's just say, I have my hands full... They want a lot of attention.... They love to play fight, you can be slightly rough with them and they love it.... They play fetch as well.... Just be warned, Burms need A LOT OF ATTENTION. They are very emotionally intelligent and they know if you aren't making them number 1 in your life... I wouldn't get any other breed. They get VERY UPSET if you don't cuddle with them.. Remember, if you have more than 1 Burm, remember to show them all attention. Some can be more dominant than others. Oh, when I come home they wait for me at the door. And the first cat I pick up feels like it has won a completion against the other cats..... If you want a dog Ina cats body.... Get a Burm..... Only for very very serious cat enthusiasts

    In April 2020 I rescued a Burmese Boy who had been kept by an unethical breeder in a tiny Wendy home (a small child couldn't lie down in it) with a 1m by 1.5m courtyard to play in for 8.5 years.
    He was in a terrible condition. With the help of great vets in my area I nursed him back to health. I showed him at a cat show in November 2020 and he was awarded the Title Grand Champion.
    BEFORE YOU BUY A CUTE BURMESE KITTEN....... make sure you see the living conditions of the boy cat.... Insist on it..... If the breeder refuses then report them to the authorities.... There is A LOT of bad breeders out their, its up to YOU, the client to stop them..... You need to be the voice for these helpless animals. (sorry if I am preaching, I'm very passionate about Burms)

    Update on things Burmese learn to interact with their caretakers: Last night my Burmese crawled into a box and hid. Then began making noise deliberately to wake me up to play. I was asleep so she knew only loud noises would wake me. This is an old trick she has learned. "Wake up and play with me or at least scratch my head or this noise will get worse!" Of course it is a nice way to get woke up at 3 AM and she knows it. This is something she does often. After I got her and scratched her head and belly, within 10 minutes she was done. And went to sleep on my feet. The Burmese are intelligent and if started when they are kittens, can learn amazing things. A good choice for an indoor cat. I would suggest studying ways that cats can be trained.

She loves fishing toys, occasionally she’ll fetch, she occasionally makes toys out of strips of paper and paper like things like dollar bills which is very funny. One more annoying thing she does is she’ll destroy rolls of toilet paper and she can be a bit much at times for my American short hair Drucilla because Drucilla is a bit aloof and passive. Though their relationship has improved, I’ve found them grooming each other and napping in the same chair. Brian, the breeder I got her from is very nice and the other cats at his cattery were very nuzzley. She’s a lot of fun. Though I will say I think her nails grow pretty quickly

My Burmese snores. It is so fun to hear it. Flood a Burmese with love and you will be very surprised at what these cats can give back. As they age the bond will tighten. This cat you have here is perfect in my eyes. They do have boundaries too. Watch out for the claws. Burmese claws are as sharp as razors. and the will accidentally scratch you. I prefer not to clip my cat's nails. And never ever consider declawing any cat! So cruel. I love your cats! Bye for now.

    I have had two male Burmese cats for 17 years now. What a journey it's been. I remember when they turned 4 years old and I was thinking they were now getting mature and it would become a bit easier. Nope, at 17 now they are still a hand full. Absolutely amazing cats but what was said in the video is very true, they give a lot but need just as much in return. If you want a cat that is interactive, ultra affectionate and to emotionally bond with then a Burmese and especially a male Burmese is a great choice. I can have friends kids come around and the cats will be carried around and even dressed up, thats how easy and affectionate mine are. But close a door in the house or move them out of the bedroom because there are guests and don't expect an easy ride. If you are sick they won't leave your side, if you are gardening they will garden with you, in the bath they will walk the bath rim and cooking in the kitchen with you. Finally mine love the be carried, on on the shoulder the other upside down. Not easy to cook with a cat on your shoulder but sometimes you have to. Would I get another Burmese when they are gone? Yes I think so but maybe an older one that needs rehoming rather than a kitten. They need a buddy.

      My partner works 6 days a week and I’m home all day alone, so have decided to get cat companion to keep me company. I’ve been looking at everything from Rag dolls to Rescues but I didn’t want to rush into anything and was looking for something really special, but didn’t know quite what.. I just knew I’d know it when I saw it ❤. I hadn’t even decided on a male or female!
      So anyway, it’s been a while now and 2 days ago, I found my new best friend/fur baby!
      I pick him up in 5 sleeps and after watching this video and reading your experience, I am even more excited!!

    • @TravelersGarden_dgdr
      @TravelersGarden_dgdr 4 роки тому +1

      A dog isn't a substitute for a cat. They are a completely different species, with completely different behavior & social needs.
      Cats that are kept solitary, meaning without any other cat, will become anti-social to other cats. That means they actually forget how to communicate with their own species & they end up seeing them only as strangers & enemies...to reverse that is usually very difficult or even impossible. Which is a very sad thing.
      They also tend to develop behavioral issues like grumpy & moody behavior, aggression, overly sensitivity, depression, bullying behavior, frustration & a lot more.
      It's like keeping a human only with a dog as company for their whole life...that human will end up mentally sick. It's no different with cats.

    • @TravelersGarden_dgdr
      @TravelersGarden_dgdr 4 роки тому +1

      @@LenaMatildaCats Sorry to say that, but I don't think they are best friends to be honest.
      I saw a video on your channel, where your Burmese bullies your Russian Blue. The Russian Blue just calmly groomed herself & the Burmese came out of nowhere & started attacking her. It was clearly not play. Both were upset & the Russian Blue was intimidated. And since you simply calmly filmed this, means that this is happening frequently & you're thinking this is "normal".
      Burmese are just way too dominant & active for Russian Blues. They have clearly also good moments & look like friends, but not best friends...they aren't the ideal partner for each other. They are frustrated with the situation.
      I have also a Bengal at home & even though she is friends with my Siamese & Burmese (they all cuddle, groom each other & play), she isn't best friends with them. The breeds are just too different...and Bengals are way closer to Siamese & Burmese, than a Burmese to a Russian Blue. Burmese & Siamese are very special in character & they can't bond with unrelated breeds that closely. In the past I also had 2 Siamese...and again, they were best friends beyond believe.
      People only see what real best friends look like, when they actually own 2 cats that are ideal for each other.
      I would recommend getting another Burmese or similar for your Burmese.

    • @TravelersGarden_dgdr
      @TravelersGarden_dgdr 4 роки тому +1

      @ian d My Siamese, Burmese & Bengal sleep through the whole night till 9am. No howling whatsoever. I trained them & they know the night is for sleeping. Playing isn't allowed. All 3 breeds are known to be very noisy.
      And when I still had my other Siamese (sister of my current Siamese, she died recently), she slept through the whole night as well.
      So, noisy breeds don't necessarily annoy people at night. They can be taught...plus they also should be kept busy during the day.
      Especially doing activities outdoors with them works wonders.

    My neighbors have a Burmese who comes outside regularly, and is precious. He stalks rodents, but will come say hi and lay on my bare toes for a pet. I absolute adore him. I wonder if this breed would make a good family barn cat to patrol the feed barn. I'll need to get a cat of my own soon, but this cat will defiantly be an outside/barn cat with lots of family and extended family activity around to be a part of. Tractors do drive through often, but nothing that moves too quickly. A sensible cat should be able to be perfectly safe I'd recon.
