A fun fact, as of the latest phylogenetic tree that came out with Sunbreak, Gammoth is no longer considered a Fanged Beast. Fanged Beasts make up the Pelagusia Order, while Gammoth and Popo have been separated into the Proboscidae Order (we don't go above the Order level in the Phylogenetic tree, so whether they're related above that is unknown). This phylogenetic tree also dealt with the famous "Akantor and Ukanlos are Flying Wyverns" issue, by positioning them as Incertae sedis (of unknown position) within the Wyvern Hips Order, and most closely related /to/ the Flying Wyverns, but clearly not part of the Flying Wyvern Suborder.
Volvidon is underrated in my mind. I love him. His way of moving is so unique(the small rolls to the side and long rolls) and he looks like an animal which could exist.
Tobi is a fanged wyvern. For the most part, scales=wyvern and hair/fur (or similarly mammalian)=beast. The only fanged beast in world and iceborne was just rajang and his varient.
As other people have said, Tobi is a fanged wyvern. Tobi's fluff is more likely to be some sort of pictofibers. Generally, a lot of monsters that resemble mammals are just reptiles that convergently (real life thing in which animals will evolve similar traits despite not being related, it's the reason why ichthyosaurs and dolphins have fish-like bodies) evolved a mammal-like appearance. Other examples of this are Paolumu, who is a flying wyvern that just resembles a bat, Banbaro, who is a brute wyvern, Zinogre, who is also a fanged wyvern, and surprisingly Wulg, which I thought were fanged beasts until recently.
Goss Harag not getting a variant on the same level as Frostfang or even a unique subspecies is such a shame. He is the definitive bear monster and one I would have loved to see as a rival to the definitive primate monster, Rajang (since Rajang is super weak to ice that is) so him not getting ANYTHING is a crime. Also, Gammoth for wilds, give her a epic variant that makes her an elder tier threat, yadda yadda #FreeGammoth (Seriously, I want her back if just so that I can have her armor back)
I still feel like we were robbed of a sub-species of Goss Harag. Imagine a "red oni" version of it with sharper horns and using cooled lava blades instead of ice.

And don't worry, I'm not clueless about some of the issues with that system in itself. Talking to you black diablos. Flying beast are large batlike fanged beasts who has adapted flight to better compete with flying wyverns!

Palamutes aren't Fanged Beats. They are classified as "Canynes". A completely new classification of which they are the only member. Makes you wonder if they'll make wild, feral small monster relatives in a future game. EDIT: There seems to be some confusion on my part by confusing the term "Canynes" as a monster classification instead of a species name. Likening the term to that of like "Carapaceon" being made up word with real world origins (crustacean+carapace). It also didn't help that in Rise, whenever NPCs do speak about them, they only call them "Canynes" and not there isn't a description log about them like with wild Felynes and Melynx who since MH1 we know are Lynians alongside Gajalaka, Shakalaka and Boaboa. Stories 2 do classify them Fanged Beast, but I never bothered getting them in that game hence my mistake.
The Risebreak phylogenetic tree actually makes it more clear too. They are part of the Hard Claw suborder, most closely related to Goss Harag, Bombadgy, and the Third Gen trio.
meaning they should put horse as monster, 1 normal horse monster who use for transport, and another is same horse monster who are born mutated and became a monster a fang beast class, not kirin, but a brute horse with pure muscle its ability to jump and back kick and prance like a real horse super agile and strong
I coulda sworn Wulgs in Iceborne were Fanged Beasts but nope, they are just classified as small monsters. The Wiki says they are Fanged Wyverns but I'm not sure what its source on that is
I think Pelagus comes from the french "pelage" meaning fur, making sense for a group composed of mammals (except Volvidon I guess)
And I must admit, I think Bulldrome is kinda neat
pelo means fur/hair too
Pelage is also that in english! (Loan word from french ig)
Well Garangolm it's also hairless lol
Volvidon is just giant armadilo, idk why he would be exception
Bullfango being dubbed “shitfango” by fans never ceases to make me laugh just such a good simple nickname
i just call them bull-fucko.
As if anyone ever asked for a more annoying bull

I went and had a look at the Gammoth theme after watching this and I'd like to join you on that hill good sir
Certified banger.
I love how the newer fanged beast are like a living cosplayer in the wild 😜
Pelagus may come from the word pelage that means animal skin with fur or hair
And now with gen 6, we got Doshaguma!
I like the name Pelagus, it's unique.
I wish they stuck with it, now it's just beasts with fangs like that's so ordinary and generic.
Finally, some Gammoth love! So disappointed we didn't see her in Iceborne.
U forgot about Kecha Wacha in the fang beast intro but it ok and understandable
Nah the admiral is definitely somewhat related to Rajang
Bulldrome is easy to me. Remember these steps: 2 slashes & roll to side. Rinse & repeat. Remember you are dancing with it not fighting it. I used switch axe btw 😮
Hello it been a while since I was here
Palamutes aren't Fanged Beats. They are classified as "Canynes".
A completely new classification of which they are the only member.
Makes you wonder if they'll make wild, feral small monster relatives in a future game.
EDIT:
There seems to be some confusion on my part by confusing the term "Canynes" as a monster classification instead of a species name.
They are part of the Hard Claw suborder, most closely related to Goss Harag, Bombadgy, and the Third Gen trio.
you take that back about bishaten
Congalala my great enemy.
meaning they should put horse as monster, 1 normal horse monster who use for transport, and another is same horse monster who are born mutated and became a monster a fang beast class, not kirin, but a brute horse with pure muscle its ability to jump and back kick and prance like a real horse super agile and strong
Hearing a aussie accent saying ass instead of arse is sooooo weird 😅 great video btw
6:07 but it’s so cute! Bring it back!
I always thought Duramboros was a Fanged Beast, I wonder why it isn't?
Fanged beast the first monster u fight
The last monsters u fight
That one Rajang skin look pretty cool. Have no idea what Komatsu no yaiba is though
24:52 6 MONTHS???
Love your name btw
The monster with a baby going berserk over her fallen child is a nice gimmick. Would like to see some rajang with this behavior 😂😂
Is the black star crossover from soul eater?
As a late 5th gen hunter, we need more beast. I got kinda tired of wyverns and lizards lmao
No copper blangonga reference sadge
What's Lunagaron classification?
Fanged wyvern
I hope Congalala returns one day
You know the myth of Rise about the Magnamalo?
I just relized something cursed watching this vid, rajangs horns grow out of its neck
Not really, they grow out right behind it's ears, pretty normal
rajang - son of angry goat and even more angry gorilla
We didnt get gammoth because banbaro was made they are oddly similar dont you think?
Hang on... what about Tobi Kadachi in World?
Fanged wyvern my guy
@@PeakGinge Damn, yeah, I commented this before I found out about them, i just thought they all fanged beasts! 😬
Maybe the real fanged beasts were the friends we made along the way
Difference between online and frontier? Though they were the same game tbh
I coulda sworn Wulgs in Iceborne were Fanged Beasts but nope, they are just classified as small monsters. The Wiki says they are Fanged Wyverns but I'm not sure what its source on that is
where are odogaron, lunagaron and garangolm?
The monsters in the mh wilds trailer?
Is banbaro not a fanged beast? That’s interesting
