I think Pelagus comes from the french "pelage" meaning fur, making sense for a group composed of mammals (except Volvidon I guess)
And I must admit, I think Bulldrome is kinda neat
pelo means fur/hair too
Pelage is also that in english! (Loan word from french ig)
Well Garangolm it's also hairless lol
Volvidon is just giant armadilo, idk why he would be exception
The Herbivore classification in MH is a more mysterious and more encompassing classification than even Elder Dragon.
Diablos and Banbaro are herbivores, and yet do not fall under said classification.
Bullfango being dubbed “shitfango” by fans never ceases to make me laugh just such a good simple nickname
i just call them bull-fucko.
Be proud to die on that hill, Gammoth theme goes crazy.
i didnt knew palamutes are classified as fanged beasts thats kinda awesome having a class of monster be our companion instead of the usual lynians
It because they aren't.
They are classified as "Canynes". A completely new classification.
Makes you wonder if they'll add wild, huntable small monster cousins in a future game.
@@dianslabbert504 No. Canyne is similar to Felyne as it's the species name. Felynes are classified as lynians and Canynes are classified as fanged beasts.
@@dianslabbert504 kinda sad there aren't wild palamutes at least in the shrine ruins. Like, where did they even come from?? There are also so many statues of them inside the shrine ruins.
@@dianslabbert504 They are though. Felynes are Lynians, so Palamutes are Fanged Beasts. You'd know that if you played stories 2
@wtf_is_this_handle_shit I have played Stories 2 a lot. 150+ hours.
I didn't bother getting a Palamute monstie at all because I hate them. I don't use them at all in Rise Sunbreak either. They're just annoying to me.
I'm happy Wilds is going to give us a likely Bird Wyvern companion instead.
I will admit I can be mistaken about their classification now, considering no one in Rise mentions it other than that are a "Canyne".
So I could have confused the terminology for a classification, considering it is derived from the real word "canine". Like how "Carapaceon" comes from "crustacean" combined with "carapace".
And also because, for example, NPCs and descriptions in-game will call/mention Rathalos is a Flying Wyvern.
Armadillos actually do roll.
Not just turn into a ball, but actually moving whilst in the ball.
Its a pretty uncommon thing for them to do though.
They usually curl up when a predator is trying to eat them.
The predator then leaves because it cant get through the armadillos thick armor.
And again uncommonly do they try to roll away from danger
I just realized Banbaro isn't a Fanged Beast and now I'm bitter
Well it makes sense. Despite having some mammal features, Banbaro still fits better with Brute Wyverns
Banboro is similar to Barroth in that it's fore arms aren't useful for anything unlike fanged beast or fanged wyverms who use them for mobility.
ABSOLUTELY SOLID VIDEO! God I wish I can play online 😭🙌 and I'm glad the footage helped! ♥️🙌 Much love!
Here to hoping Wilds expand even further on the types of Fanged Beasts we'll see. Would love more herbivorous beasts like a moose or a rhino monster
It always made me sad that we didn’t get Gogomoa in Rise. A spider monkey that moves around fast with silk felt like it could’ve been our moving-tool counter monkey, like how Rajang would punish you hard for Clutchclaw spam, except Gogomoa could keep up with our movement and punish us for not positioning our Wirebugs well
So glad to be seeing content from you again! Big fan!
we need more mammalian animals- we have Apes and Bears… oh, and a horse an elephant. hopefully Wilds will have some new skeletons. maybe some kind of mustelid? like a giant ferret or otter that’s like a combo between a leviathan and bear skeleton. or how about a traditional marsupial, like a Kangaroo? that would awesome! he could kick, punch, hop around, maybe do some tail based moves.
or hell, just make a giant platypus. they’re basically already Monster Hunter monsters. they have beaver tails, duck bills, lay eggs despite being mammals (one of the few monotremes) and have a friggin venomous claw on their toes. seriously, if you had never heard of this thing, it already sounds like a video game monster: a duck beaver that does poison. sure, we have Tetranadon, but he’s an amphibian, not a fanged beast. i just want a regular a$$ platypus, but giant and angry. 😂 maybe they can give it teeth to make it “fanged..”
or heck, speaking of billed animals, there aren’t any actual ducks in MH are there? criminal!
You mean like the giant rat dudes in the Wilds trailer?
Great Maccao is a giant kangaroo.
So I got a couple thoughts on the fanged beasts,
First off I think it's fair to say we have enough monkeys for this class, especially if we include the spin offs
Second, I think Kelbi, Anteka, Mosswine, Popo, Moofah, gown goats, Erupe and Burukku should all get reclassified as fanged beasts
As for the spinoff of beasts, I would absolutely love for Nono/kamu orugaron and Gogomoa to be added to the main series, it would be nice to see Ceaserber, I got mixed feelings on Voljang and Slicemargl, and I straight up hate ray/lolo goulgarf and Midogaron, I think Naco Agul from the manga acutaly has some potential so would be nice to see that
And finally for what I would like to see form the class in future, I would love for Goss harag to get a ogre grizzly bear like subspecies that lives in forest, male Gammoth and for volvidon to get a deviant, and copper Blangos would be cool aswell, as for completely new fanged beats the 3 I really want is marsupial lion monster a, a creepy mole rat monster, and a giant packyrhinosaurs Wully rhino to be the Wully rhino to Gammoths well Mammoth
Very well made video, Mr. Dayabalos 😊
Excellent job with this dude! You've got the personality and the voice to go much further. This is the first video I've seen from you but I'm definitely a fan. Good luck with everything.
Yo, thanks so much, I appreciate you tuning in 🤘
You did my snowbaron lagombi dirty with this one I really like his fight once you get into it it's like a dance... One where one wrong positioning can turn the fight into an "oh god I just got the snow debuff 6 times in a row"
I could be convinced, I’m a sucker for Deviants
The full list (without subspecies and variants)
Gen1: shitfango
Gen2: the og monke trio , shitdrome
Gen3: chonke trio
Gen4: popodrome, silly monke
Gen5: good doggo, farting dude, silly monke2, Frankenstein monke
Bonus (no zenith): spider monke, duo doggos, fire doggo, monke duo, rajangs granpa, big beaver,monke-doggo
Focusing on base monsters only. Monkeys make up exactly half of the fang beasts so that's something
Also HC Congalala from Frontier can use it's fart as a propellant to close distance
Gotta love Frontier
The apex monsters being great value versions of Deviants is a crime that will not be forgotten
is tobi kadachi not a fanged beast?? D: what category is my boy?
edit: BOMBADGY MENTIONED LETS GOOOOO
Tobi is a fanged wyvern.
For the most part, scales=wyvern and hair/fur (or similarly mammalian)=beast. The only fanged beast in world and iceborne was just rajang and his varient.
Tobi is classed a fanged wyvern, and is the third one ever so so he's pretty special
"just so awesome just so cool" while running around in snowman status 12:46
I meant cool in the literal sense
Awesome trip down memory lane. If Wilds is actually open world, there should be more than enough room to bring back Gammoth. 😤
Funny how the trio of gen3 got their own theme that they share too, I dunno if any other monster class has that to them
whats the music for the gen 2 section?
Volvidon is underrated in my mind. I love him. His way of moving is so unique(the small rolls to the side and long rolls) and he looks like an animal which could exist.
I hope we get more different Monke in the th generation again!
I wonder why the other mammal herbivores didnt get recategorized when bullfango did
I'd have said the arzuros is based on badgers, but I guess bear works too.
Cool deep dive.
I just remembered that Kongalala was the first monster I ever fought with my cousin back in the day
Congalala my great enemy.
20:58 has the main series ever had a tag-team/pair fight? That seems like a new kind of fight ripe for the picking?
1:54 it’s completely adorable though 🥰
0:03 literally the only non-Wyvern in World, lol
The monster with a baby going berserk over her fallen child is a nice gimmick. Would like to see some rajang with this behavior 😂😂
22:17 were the Monster Hunter Online designs still made by Capcom and given to Tencent, or did Tencent design them?
World should have made Paolumu a fanged beast it would have stood out more
I had this sentiment as well but some have pointed out it actually has feathers, not fur so it is a highly derived flying wyvern and not a mammal.
@@thenerdbeast7375 ok, but they designed it that way, they could have given him fur
Barioth and paolumu fits better as Fanged wyverns imo
It becomes more confusing when we consider its wings (wyvern?) and if we compare it, Pao's wings have the same design as Pukei's (bird wyvern?) 😅😅😅
I think we are looking at fanged beasts as just mammals. And they usually are. But to hone in on that alone would deprive imagination. Evolution is not the same in the mh world. That is for the sole reason, evolution is random. My head canon is also thet its more extreme in the mh world. But that aside, we don't know if these animals with fur aren't cold blooded or the reptiles aren't warm-blooded. Just like on earth where rare examples exist of oddities, so will the mh world. Why can't mammal like traits appear multiple times in different family tries. After all. The groups are defined by relation and not similarities. And don't worry, I'm not clueless about some of the issues with that system in itself. Talking to you black diablos. Or pukei for having the same wings as paolumu but being from "different" lines of groups.
And now with gen 6, we got Doshaguma!
Hello it been a while since I was here
I went and had a look at the Gammoth theme after watching this and I'd like to join you on that hill good sir
Certified banger.
I love how the newer fanged beast are like a living cosplayer in the wild 😜
The monsters in the mh wilds trailer?
I just like random monster hunter videos no matter the topic really this was a really good one
For new fanged beasts i would love to see for monster hunter are weasels, tasmanian devils, stoats, hippos, rhinos, sea lions and other bovine species etc. I also thought of 2 new mammalian species categories! (Beast leviathans) and (flying beast) beast leviathans are whale/dolphin and seal like fanged beasts who has adapted to a fully aquatic environment! Flying beast are large batlike fanged beasts who has adapted flight to better compete with flying wyverns!
The thing about Gammoth not being in World because it's "too big" doesn't work though because Banbaro is huge as well. I hope they update it or add it in somehow since they do still regularly touch up World and care about it because the community enjoys it so much.
Seems improbable but damn it would be awesome
@@docterzero1503 if it doesn't happen then I'm sure they'll add it in a similar area in Wilds
Love your name btw
you take that back about lagombi
you take that back about bishaten
didn't know the admiral was a fanged wyvern
Bullfango is my favorite wild pig. I love l the bullfango mask helmet
i love Fanged Beasts in mhrise
Pelagus may come from the word pelage that means animal skin with fur or hair
6:07 but it’s so cute! Bring it back!
Bulldrome is easy to me. Remember these steps: 2 slashes & roll to side. Rinse & repeat. Remember you are dancing with it not fighting it. I used switch axe btw 😮
Is the black star crossover from soul eater?
The regional evolution of Aipom is a jerk
Fanged beast the first monster u fight
The last monsters u fight
Wait, Great Poggie isn’t a Fanged beast?
As a late 5th gen hunter, we need more beast. I got kinda tired of wyverns and lizards lmao
I coulda sworn Wulgs in Iceborne were Fanged Beasts but nope, they are just classified as small monsters. The Wiki says they are Fanged Wyverns but I'm not sure what its source on that is
I always thought Duramboros was a Fanged Beast, I wonder why it isn't?
That one Rajang skin look pretty cool. Have no idea what Komatsu no yaiba is though
I hope Congalala returns one day
You know the myth of Rise about the Magnamalo?
23:09 and this was an adaptation it got without breeding or anything? It just wandered off alone and suddenly it could breathe fire!?
Finally! It's my time. I here by stand alone as the only Bulldrome fan I know of. For me, I am a fan of it, for it kinda thought me how to deal with super aggressive and fast monsters. At least that is the way I view it. Also, it is a funny pig.
🫡
I like the name Pelagus, it's unique.
I wish they stuck with it, now it's just beasts with fangs like that's so ordinary and generic.
I wish monster hunter would move out of just elder dragons and do something like elder beast or something that isn't a big scaled lizard
What's Lunagaron classification?
Fanged wyvern
i thought zinoger and odogarron considered fanged beast
why does everybody hate on my boy bulldrome
The admiral should be on this list cause he stops an enraged rajang beam with a rock and didn't get pushed back nearly at all.
Clearly just a Rajang in disguise
Great jagras great giros
Lolo is the red one and ray is the blue one
does anyone feel like we could use a break from rajang
like he was in all the games of monster hunter ever since he was introduced but we could have an amazing new monster in his place or an old favorite that we cant have beacause rajang must be in the game
like what if we didnt get rajang in iceborn but instead we got gammoth it would fit perfectlly but we didnt get him beacause rajang already taken the spot
look at garangolm he looks like an elder dragon lvl threat but we cant have an elder dragon lvl monkey in the game beacause we already have a rajang so we gotta have this monkey nerfed WHY
why cant we have atleast one game that isnt with a rajang to give space for atleast one monster we want back or something new and interesting like you have to be tired of having the same monster be in the same game to take your ED lvl i just think we could use some new thinks we can add with no rajang even if it will be just one break every gen that wont be too much khowing how many games we have in each gen
Man disrespected bulldrome and thinks he can get away with it
I been getting away with it 🫡
Hang on... what about Tobi Kadachi in World?
Fanged wyvern my guy
@@PeakGinge Damn, yeah, I commented this before I found out about them, i just thought they all fanged beasts! 😬
Might be an unpopular opinion, but magnemalo, zinogre, and most other dog/cat inspired monsters should be in this class
You probably right yeah
Eh, no they really shouldn’t, fanged wyverns are what they are because they have scales unlike the fanged beasts who all have fur except one who has plating. Also the fanged wyverns probably share a common ancestor with all other wyverns and not with the fanged beasts.
Nah the admiral is definitely somewhat related to Rajang
for an elephant to be that size it needs to rip the tree from the ground and eat the all the leaves off it
also a giant mammoth and a big gorilla at a brawl would be awesome
I'm thinking Goss Harag would've been a better face for Rise than Magnamalo 👀
You heard them Capcom, retcon the Rise flagship
Wail I like gamoths theme but kezus them is always peak
I am him, I am the Bulldrome fan
🫡
Monke
yeah but didn't iceborne introduce small fanged beasts? like wulg?
i think bulldrome should get a new move set
Truuuuuue
Kamu,Nono,Midogaron and Naco Agul need to back in MH Wild
Agree
Odogaron is not a fanged beast?
No. It's a fanged wyvern, I think? Confusingly similar name, but they're considered different.
Odogaron shares a class with large monsters like Zinogre, Tobi Kadachi, and Magnamalo, and small monsters like Shamos or Wulgs.
The more dog/cat-like fanged monsters seem to be Fanged Wyverns, while the more varied ones are Fanged Beasts. It may even be based on diet, theoretically? Herbivorous or omnivorous fanged monsters (Arzuros eats honey and fruit in addition to meat, etc) get the Beast classification where Fanged Wyverns are obligate carnivores. That's just a guess, though.
@@ArtistLunatalia oh, I see, thanks for that info! I get confused with those two.
Why the heck isn’t Lunagaron a fanged beast. I have a hard time believing the wolf is a lizard. Same with Mitsu. Seems like they’re only a Leviathin because they’re a water monster.
Its a beee 9:07 just like the guy from ted
Wait wulg isn’t a fanged beast
Yeah its weird
So Wulgs aren't fanged beasts?
Yeah it’s weird
i spend lots of time in generations on the 3ds. its. it was an experience. fighting gammoth was epic but also so annoying
Anyone else hoping for abombadrome
Pelagus is a way cooler name, I hope they will use it instead of fanged beast
banbarro would be a mammal tho whats its classification, wait banarro would be like the gamoth right? which neither have fangs? im confused as fuck
Banbaro's a Brute Wyvern surprisingly enough, you can see it with its T-Rex body shape
arzuros is a badger
You mean the thing that eats honey and fish, looks like a bear, moves like a bear and sounds like a bear, and whose Japanese title translates to ‘blue bear beast’? The more you know
Monkee
And that's how I feel about the last time I was in the car park and I was in the car park and it was a bit of empires and the other ones I was saying about it and I don't know what to do with the other one I think I can do it and I can get it from the other one I think I can get it from the other one I don't know what to do you want to do it and I don't know what to do you want and you are going out to cure them to cure you all o
Palamutes aren't Fanged Beats. They are classified as "Canynes".
A completely new classification of which they are the only member.
Makes you wonder if they'll make wild, feral small monster relatives in a future game.
EDIT:
There seems to be some confusion on my part by confusing the term "Canynes" as a monster classification instead of a species name. Likening the term to that of like "Carapaceon" being made up word with real world origins (crustacean+carapace).
It also didn't help that in Rise, whenever NPCs do speak about them, they only call them "Canynes" and not there isn't a description log about them like with wild Felynes and Melynx who since MH1 we know are Lynians alongside Gajalaka, Shakalaka and Boaboa.
Stories 2 do classify them Fanged Beast, but I never bothered getting them in that game hence my mistake.
