I’m going to be honest I think there are huge misunderstandings here. Obviously we don’t know what the safi Alatreon matchup would look like, and yes Safi is in the same “tier”, he is not Fatalis level strength. Safi’jiiva is a first class dangerous monster, the same tier as Fatalis, but Fatalis stands above them all. Alatreon is generally second to Fatalis and Fatalis alone in terms of strength, Alatreon is absurd. I think the reason people think Safi is Fatalis tier is because Safi was meant to be the Fatalis of the New World, but only conceptually, as the only thing they share 1:1 with each other is that they are the most dragon dragons to ever have dragon’d
lolno. Anyone who genuinely thinks that Safi is even on or above the same tier as alatreon are in complete delusion Safi'jiiva is a red dragon (Which isn't even a tier, it was completely made up by fanon and fanboys who want to so desperately cling to the idea that safi can hang with the big boys) Alatreon and Fatalis are both black dragons, which are on a completely higher tier than Safi'jiiva. (Even from a gameplay perspective alot of arena videos where alatreon goes head to head with safi, Alatreon ends up mopping the floor with safi. I mean ffs Safi'jiiva has like 40,000 hp while alatreon has 118,000) Safi'jiiva is not a black dragon and anyone who says he is, is inhaling massive amounts of copium.
@@justakettlehelm1673the devs quite literally said that safi is supposed to be a counterpart/equal/rival to fatalis in the new world and at the very least it is confirmed that both of the black dragons woke up in response to safi’s existance and alatreon went out of his way to seek safi out and alatreons are known to basically just like chilling and minding their own business. They purposefully live in remote places and only fight when they perceive something else to be a threat to their existance. They also stated that if alatreon and safi were to fight it would lead to a planetary scale turf war. Rank their power among the three as you like but he is very much at least in the same class as the black dragons
The "white fatalis kills the player" entry refers to how in one of the games white fatalis has a move that doesn't cart the player, it outright erases them
Except it is just a false rumor, the video was taken when someone had one cart left on hunting road which is basically procedurally generated boss rush MH where you have 3/4 carts throughout the entire thing and you go till you drop
Except it is just a false rumor, the video was taken when someone had one cart left on hunting road which is basically procedurally generated boss rush MH where you have 3/4 carts throughout the entire thing and you go till you drop
It's worth noting that just because Shara isn't specifically coded to look at the player doesnt mean it's not an intentional design decision. No other monster has eyes modeled to be concave like Shara does. Plus, imagine the nightmare of trying to code a Shara to be able to simultaneously stare at every single player in a 4 player quest. Gamedev is all about using shortcuts, and using optical illusions to achieve an effect that would be painful to code sounds like the perfect shortcut.
yeah, I never got the idea of it being a hoax or something. I mean, the fight with Shara has two reveals. First being that it's not a rock monster, the second being when it opens it's eyes. There's clearly a lot thought put into the eyes, so I really don't buy the devs accidentally making concave eyes. The devs were even asked directly about it and they were like "yeah, curious ain't it".
For the Huntsman, the Field Team Leader uses a greatsword and calls him "master". It's likely that the huntsman is too old to carry a greatsword, but is able to teach others how to
Not to mention in MH1 there was no distinction between greatswords and longswords with longswords just being refered to as lighter greatswords. So technically the huntsman is still wielding a greatsword lol
33:23 if you cut off Xeno’jiivas tail and look at the wound it literally has the sapphire stars symbol on it as it’s “bone”, also the sapphire star in the myth guided people to the new world, that was its purpose. Xeno’jiiva in the game guided monsters to itself
At 17:32 regarding the hunter grabbing a GS instead of an LS, THE Huntsman comments that he's too old for hunting, and probably why he made the switch to a lighter weapon. Also if you think about it, the Field Leader is the Huntsman's student and he uses a greatsword INSTEAD of a longsword
But some people can also use plenty weapon types. Most ask me how to use/build for Gunlance, but I've been asked how to use pretty much everything at some point over 16 years now.
Bit of feedback. These types of videos are great to have on the background while doing something else. With that in mind, it'd be better to read out loud every entry. It gets annoying to have to alt tab and go back if the topic isnt self explanatory.
Oh, I know the White Fatalis one! In Frontier Z, there is a special White Fatalis which has a special attack where if you get hit, instead of fainting normally, you just disappear.
Hey, OP from the Reddit post here. I actually was planning to make an updated Iceberg a year or so back, but I never got around to it lol. For those of you wondering, the "White Fatalis Kills the Player" entry comes from G-Rank White Fatty in MHF's Hunting Road. Also, the upright tree dragon is based off of old concept art for what I think is Gravios, you can find it and the Pale Tree Forest in the "Monster Concepts" part of the wiki. P.S. It was a total honour to have a video on my Iceberg btw, I was watching the video, and the second you said Copper Blangonga, I was like "WOAH!"
26:26 the Kushala worshipping thing is further expanded by the Sunbreak notes in the Jungle and how an ancient race used to worship Kushala until they figured out to hunt it which may have given birth to hunting altogether
I like the Dark Souls vibe of the Ancient Civilization, it fits with the story because the entire reason humans still exist is because the survivors of the Dragon War changed to adapt & preserve nature instead of violating it.
19:27 I think it refers to frontiers G-rank white fatalis from the hunting road gamemode, basically if you get hit by 1 of his laser beams and it 1 shots you, instead of carting the normal way your character gets obliterated into nothingness
@@athos9293 gameplay wise yes you will be sent to the base camp if you loose all your hp just like any other monster hunter game. but with frontier they added some alternet animations that can illude your hunter dying, zenith khezu and raviente can straight up eat you, guanzorumu's minions can throw you off the map and white fatalis obliterates you from existence.
@@smoothysmooth4685 I know. I've died each one of these deaths in Frontier. None of them makes you instantly fail the quest, you're just sent back to base camp/respawn if it's the Hunter's Road.
In the first couple of minutes you talk about the leviathans and the skeleton issue the ligiacras had. If you look at the monsters in world, you'll notice that all of them have feet, or don't lay flat on the ground aside from Fatalis, which uses the leviathan model on a completely flat terrain. The issue for the skeleton is that when the monster is on a slight incline they will dip one end of their model into the ground, and for the leviathan that's a LARGE part of their bodies. To fix this, they just didn't add them because making the models bend was too much for them that early into the project. Hopefully someone will have gotten the model functioning for Wilds because Rise took the same approach that they used for Fatalis but just did it for the entire game of Rise, making every arena as flat or without as many changes in elevation, as if everything was made for 18 wheelers to drive around on without fear of getting stuck. That was the skeleton issue, it just kept clipping into the floor.
@@BigGomerYeah, Lagiacrus apparently was very true to his name because beta tests for the leviathan skeleton caused the older engine to lag badly and even crash with calculating the collisions.
@@athos9293 Please look at Lagiacrus, Lao Shan Lung, and then Fatalis. All of the models in Monsters Hunter tend to use similar models with "Wyverns" and "Chelicerate" models being the two major ones. Leviathan models use the Wyvern models as a base, just like Brute Wyverns, Piscine Wyverns, Fanged Wyverns, and all of the elder dragons. Fatalis is using the same model, but with the same adjustments Lao Shan Lung or Lagiacrus got with their Leviathan models.
I've never heard of the Huntsman theory before this but I'm inclined to believe it; I'm pretty new to the MH series (I've only played a bit of Tri Ultimate, all of Rise and Sunbreak, and still going through Iceborne) but I always saw the Huntsman as a representation of hunters players played as in past games. Talking to him makes him seem like an old school hunter from previous games witnessing a new generation or hunters arise and being proud of it, and one that even brings you guidance with the knowledge his adventures have granted him over the years. It's a sweet thought, and I like grandpa Huntsman for that :)
well the theories state the reason for the switch from the greatsword to longsword is the issue of his age and the weight of the weapon + potential injuries. the first team leader (the commanders grandson) is a greatsword user and he calls the huntsman his teacher so theres that bit to support that the huntsman probably taught him the greatsword while he was still able to use it before switching.
I recently beat iceborne since I didn't get the expansion when it was new, and I LOST IT when I got dialogue with him saying he doesn't understand the clutch claw lmao. That cemented in my mind that he's supposed to be the longtime vet
Safijiva is cannoncially the rival and counter part to Fatalis. This is why he is listed as the red dragon. The devs released this note in a recent ecology book so it wasnt on this iceberg. But i take offense thinking safi cant take on alateron
The Attack on Titan Deviljho if I recall correctly was from Monster Hunter Frontier and the collaboration also gave you Eren and Mikasa armor with the weapons of the anime being tonfas (didn't play Frontier, just heard from it from videos documenting every collaboration in the franchise)
See, I don't think Elder Dragons can revive. I just don't think anything really dies in Monster Hunter. They just get carted and fail their monster quest. Sure, you carve them, but they crush you to death and you still come back. And before anyone asks, it's the endemic life carrying them back to secret monster camps. It's a flawless theory.
Due to the existance of that bigass fatalis GS in pokke village I imagine there is at least one canon defeat of a fatalis. That's where the origin of fatalis growing back from a single scale comes from after all, as the GS itself grows back into its full shape after being mined.
nice vid but i want to add a few things which i personally find intriguing: 10:25 because the White ones have many albino traits such as pale skin, lacking pigment, easilly getting damaged by sunlight,...However, those traits force them to migrate to snowy regions where they can thrive while the Red ones can not. Moreover, the caves in Old World are either damp caves or crystallize caves so a big White thing doesn't stand out much unlike a Red one. These are the reasons why people theorized that the Red Khezu are the original species getting outcompeted by their Subspecies version 28:56 Gaia Dragon isn't its real name, only a few individuals being so ancient that the Guild gave them a different name to separate them from their original species being Earth Dragon (like how Rare Species are premium Subspecies) to highlight their strength and rarity. On the other hand, the species juvenile form is called Ground Dragon. They also have the ability to fly but soon lose it as the creatures get older 35:51 i think i saw this being mentioned more than 16 years ago, way back when the first few monster hunter games were released. People posted about all types of make up bs monsters back then to scare the newbies and to add more mysteries into the games but this stood out the most for me. An old concept about an Elder Dragon that's supposed to be removed from the game but people somehow still saw it
@@zom6iecreeper166 I believe it was the old man from the first game that was the Hero or whatever who slew the white monoblos alone because his original part was like five hunters and his wife was one of them and died if I remember it correctly. So once the guild was established I think that’s when it was established that hunting parties had to be four or less because it was seen as bad luck to have more then four.
Espinas isn't the only Frontier monster in a mainline game. I'll remind you guys Hypnocatrice was originally introduced in Frontier and was present in Freedom Unite. There may be 1 or 2 more I'm forgetting.
Kind of Hypnocatrice and Lavasioth were made with the intentions to be shared from the get go. They were designed by both teams even Espinas is the first real frontier exclusive
Topics are skipped wayyy too fast! Many times i had no idea what you're talking about and i hate to "go back > pause > read the topic > go on watching the video" aside of that it's a really nice video even tho i didn't bother to rewatch
Shara Ishvalda DOES look at the player, why be so pedantic about whether it has a seperate eye model tracking the camera, or if it's just a really clever optical illusion? All animation is an optical illusion anyway, the way they executed it doesn't mean it isn't.
I like iceberg videos, seeing one of MH is pretty nice, cool video man and glad to see you back ! Though the fact that i know almost everything here makes me remember i played for a lot of time... For the white Fatalis one its because the G rank version of frontier has an attack that outright delete the player, vaporizing him
Good gosh I'm loving this! I've been hyperfixated on monster hunter ever since the Wilds announcement and this is hitting my MH cravings just right!!! keep going ma'dude, you're gaining momentum!
that elder dragon revival thing might refer to Ruiner Nergigante, who gets killed before the Shara fight but comes back to finish it off - meaning it either played dead and allowed itself to be carved, or the more likely option which is that its insane regeneration factor allows it to come back from actual death
Oh fun little fact. Hiro Mashima is a big fan of MonHun, he adds references to his manga like, Erza Scarlet's armor or the dragon designs. Must have been a dream job that he was able to make an official manga for the fans, no matter how small.
Don't forget Capcom confirmed little tidbits of lore like rajang chasing down kirin hirns to power up his lighting. And Iceborne fatalis's pin move nodding to the idea that molten gear of previous hunters fused to his chest.
Apparently, I read it somewhere, the Rathian Hunter from MHFU chose to switch to a long sword due to his old age. Since the two almost feels the same to weild but the latter is lighter makes it convenient for him. In MHW he did say he's getting old for hunting
I haven’t played any of the older MH games. I’ve tried to play MH rise but I didn’t really like it as much as I did MH World and Iceborne. But, I’ve seen my dad play an older MH game (not sure which one) and he maimed Tonfas. I would love MH Wilds yo bring them back, the gameplay looks so cool.
I think the theory about elder dragons having the ability to revive themselves came from iceborne when it seems like nergigante and shara died but they got back up.
17:14 Some support for this, during one of Huntman's fights in World, (Nergi or Velk, idr) he does the greatsword block with his longsword. Could be he switched mains or multi-mains. Also, Field Team leader refers to him as "Master", and uses a greatsword himself.
I’m not sure if I’m right about this but the upright tree dragon is an old monster hunter 1 concept like the crypt hydra. There’s an old picture of a hunter looking up at a dragon sitting on a spiked white tree. It looks like a cross between malzeno and malfestio with a rathalos tail.
"White Fatalis kills the player" is probably referring to Frontier's White Fatalis which has an attack that instead of just carting the player it outright erases them from existence. I call that attack the Dragon God Erasure Beam.
If you do another one of these, can you make the title cards stay on screen just a fraction longer? I’m usually a decently fast reader but I couldn’t always keep up.
Even though it was a fleeting reference, I like that you mentioned Stories when talking about fighting another player’s monster. I know it’s a side game, and is very over looked by many parts of the monster Hunter community as a whole, but i think it’s a great game. Baby’s first monster hunt, that doesn’t prepare them for the real thing…but still an amazing play
One thing to add about the whole muslim prayer thing: The vocal sample pretty much just made its way into a sound bank, and that sound bank is then lisenced out to several companies/composers. Sounds designers or composers at those companies, namely Nintendo and Capcom in this case, would then of course not get the context of such a prayer-song, and just put it into the project they're working on because it sounds cool.
the kut ku + rathian = garuga isnt actually a fan theory, its stated in game in one of the quest descriptions, granted its framed in such a way that gives off the impression that (in universe) the guy writing the description is hitting you with an in game myth about garugas origins and that its not ACTUALLY a kut ku + rathian.
Honestly that describes a lot of my lore. People will take an armor description 100% literally without thinking that in universe it might just be a cool myth
So, if all Fatalis hunts before the World one didn't actually happen. What about that giant sword in Pokke village? It's a Fatalis greatsword and belonged to an ancestor of the village chief from what I recall. So, at least one of them must have had been hunted and killed before. Also, while you need to kill multiple monsters for a full armor set and weapons, that's only due to you being given hand selected rewards by the guild. The corpse of or a captured monster will yield more than enough materials for even multiple sets.
i wish you would say what the next one is instead of having us read it. i like to have these on in the background and it was annoying having to pause go back and read
one thing that I believe was cut content was that Fatalis gear would continue to grow, suggesting that Fatalis could revive itself or something along those lines
19:37 that's reefers to one weird interactions with the zenith white fatalis or HR white fatalis in MH frontier, I don't exactly remember which one, but it does this attack where red beems of light shower from the skies, if one hits you your hunter gets vaporized, being shot means an insta failed mission even if you have 3 carts left. Something similar happens with the berserker laviente, it does one attack that if it hits you with a water geiser the laviente eats you a whole, one player eaten means an immediate quest fail. In resume, just MH frontier over the top shenanigans
Slight corrections on the ancient civilization the current lore community theorizes there are actually multiple ancient civilizations ranging from the more religion based cultures in the flooded forest and jungle maps to the cultures based around the tower and the cloud viewing district( I think that was the name of that map)
With Legiacruz in World. It's understandable. Something we can see with both IceWorld and SunRise, is that the maps and more importantantly, the specific numbered areas, is how they are designed. Where Sunrise is a more Vertical game, being able to climb walls and mountains and wirebugging around, All the Areas that we fight in are INCREDIBLY flat. They are for a lack of a better word...arenas. All of them. Maybe 2-3 area on a map may have a ledge, or you can drag the monster towards a wall, but standardly, they are ALL flat arenas. Especially if you compare to world, where they are labled areas, but are not all that different from the routes, they have a certain degree of incline and decline all over the place. This was to assist with the revamped combat World was going for so you could take advantage of half the skill set. Could Legiacruz been in Sunrise? As modders have proven...yes. in the same way Almudron and Mitsusune work. Even scaled up as SunRise does often. In world? Aparently it would require an exceptional amount of programming, remodeling and additional modal work so that it doesn't constantly clip into the world. Aparently, as I am not a modder so I personally cant say, They would need to add SEVERAL more joints in the Legiacruz modal to be able to adjust to terrain dips, all of those joints requiring further animation adjustments for the whole modal for the things it would be interacting with....JUST for that one monster, which was not a flag ship, or an end game monster. So the truth of the matter was that it just required too much time and work just to add a single monster in. We can also see from the roster of World, they purposely avoided anything serpentine, or lengthy and low to the ground to avoid the problem with clipping into the ground constantly. Some of the largest monsters Dont have a lot of contact points with the ground. 2 examples come to mind in an argument against this point: Kulve Toroth, and Fatalis. However, people should see how this only exagerates my point. 1: They both have their own specific quest and are not found in any other places 2: They have their own unique maps. Fatalis literally being an Arena, and Kulve specifically moves in a VERY specific way and certain areas until she is no longer a long serpintine shape (break armor) only than does Kulve move more like a regular monster. 3: They are both End game major monster hunts. Unlike Legiacruz
Everyone always says Espinas made it out of Frontier as if he's the only monster to do so. Lavasioth was first. YEA... think about that! Lavasioth was in like the first batch of monsters in Frontier (2007) and than later in freedom unite in 2008. Why did people forget this guy? Is it because he similar to Plesioth? My assumption is that most people started with World, and figured he was just an off brand Jyuratodus.... when ironically Jyuratodus first appeared in world, and was an off brand Lavasioth.
Dundorma: SO MANY theories as to its constant attacks. One theory I've heard which makes a lot of sense. The old Civilization there, or rather Castle Schrade, is a very important research site. It was destroyed, but the commision and guild still wish to research it, resulting in an extended expedition. That means researchers, hunters, craftsmen etc. basically the same way World is structured. Enough time goes by and a city is bound to be created. Probably what Asteria will become eventually. Either way, they built up Dundorma as a research base, and is even home of the Elder Dragon Observation Center, which tracks of large monsters and specifically researches elder dragons. Which would naturally lead to them finding out that Dundorma is actually in the direct route of the Elder Crossing. Causing many a stampede and elder dragon attacks who are traveling the easy routes which surround Dundorma to head out to the new world. It is possible it was due to Dundorma's constant attacks which would lead to discovering the new world and kicking off the events of MH World.
Weapons from Explore and Frontier: I hate to be the rain on this particular parade...but i dont think they will ever come back. At least as they existed. See, they all had the same problem, which was never fixed, and would be hard to ever fix. They overlapped other weapons. I could say they were too powerful...but balancing and retooling is always possible, but no. The Magnet Spike in particular was, for all intensive purposes, way too versatile. It operated like a Hammer, a greatsword, a longsword, a Charge Blade and even Gunlance. and in frontier, after it's introduction, there was a MASSIVE drop off which never recovered of those weapon types However. We could see certain aspects of the weapons come back. In MH4 we were introduced to styles, which allowed us to tool our play style with weapons. Allowing for different moves and abilities to be used to what the player preferred. This would be dropped in World as they had to rebuilt the weapon moves sets pretty heavily, but they would again return in SunRise as Switch Skills. Things like the Tonfa, and the entire playstyle of the Tonfa, could be integrated into the Dual Blades. Tonfa at their core was a fast weapon dual handed weapon which main aspects would include being able to dash and guard freely. It's would fill a guage similar to Long Sword or Demon mode Dual blades, and could augment its damages on different parts. By make the move set, and abilities Style abilties or Switch Skills, you could potentionally recreate the entire thing with Dual Blades. We've seen styles and Switch Skills change quite a few things on their respective weapons. Extendning the idea, Wilds would be to bring these weapons back. Even the Magnet Spikes Magnetic dash and retreat are ALREADY in SunRise on the Lance. Lance has a wirebug move to mark an enemy, whch allows them to instantly fly towards the marked enemy just like the Magnet Spike. So we know its certainly possible to bring the moves back.
Monster Hunter Orage: Aside from the new monsters. It also featured something never seen before or after, and even in the manga is considered absolute unique. The Main Characters Weapons. I'm not talking about the a hunting whip which we have seen, or even Boomerang. Nope, he uses DUAL BLADES... haha....with a Wind Element. Yup, A WIND element supposedly offering increased attack speed, movement speed and extra attacks. As portrayed, and as some "from the writers desk" commentary. They wanted the hero to stand out more as a protaganist and wanted to give them something speacial, as is kind of tradition of any form fantasy media. This ironically sparked many fans who were more interested in the Wind Element than the manga itself
Extinct Species: Though Some species went extinct by natural selection, back before hunters had the Guild or Commision, Excessive Hunting and Trophy Hunting took place. Which aparently resulted in disaster. "The Balance of nature was disrupted." The Guild was made to put an end to, which is why hunters are not allowed to just hunt freely. Hunting for food and defense are allowed, But typically, Hunters are not allowed to hunt anything and everything unless a request has been made. Again, not directly said, but in that timeframe before the Guild, many species were hunted into extinction. Many monsters in Monster Hunter play vital roles in the ecosystem. Such as Nergigante pruning elder dragons, and Pukei-pukei which helps the germination of plants in an area. It could be said, that if a Pukei-pukei is around, vegitation will grow fast and healthy. So if a creature like Pukei-pukei was over hunted, the natural vegetation would disappear. One could only theorize at that point what monsters were hunted to extinction, and from there, what happened without them present. In the comics, there some chapters which have our heroes fight a Khezu. After it's defeat, a Tigrex shows up. It's assumed by the characters in the comic that the Khezu being there was acting as a natural deterrant for the Tigrex, a much more aggressive and dangerous foe.
I know this video is 7 months old but regarding 19:39 there’s a lore card that says White Fatalis armor slowly turns the hunter into White Fatalis and brings misfortune to the smithy that forges the armor. What the other comments are saying about White Fatalis in Gen2 insta killing the player is also true.
xeno jiiva being an alien isnt exlusively to the "it looks like an alien and has alien in its name" but its also the fact that they really tie into the sapphire star myth, which in turn could change the story of the star being a star and instead a metiorite containing well aliens
5:25 It would honestly be so cool if we got more Frontier monsters and had Dundorma in Wilds. And we could see the new flagship or the REAL final monster completely destroy the town
I'm pretty sure the field team leader stated that his master, the huntsman, used to be a greatsword user. He switched to the longsword later in his life as his strength waned and had to rely on grace instead.
«i don’t think Safi’jiiva wins that fight». I’m pretty sure that’s wrong. Alatreon is clearly supposed to be weaker than Fatalis, and Safi’jiiva is said to be Fatalis’ equal by the developers
you need to either make those titles slower or keep them on the corner as you talk bc they go by way too quick making me have to go back and pause to read.
31:34 Fun fact, there is actually one slaying of a Fatalis that slightly predates that of Iceborne Fatalis, though it isn't quite done by a player hunter. Back in January/February 2020, Monster Hunter did a collab with the Nintendo and Cygames produced gacha game, "Dragalia Lost". It was primarily a GenU crossover, as it featured the Soaratorium being sent to the world of Dragalia Lost as well as Dreadking Rathalos being one of the summonable dragons from the event. Notably though, Fatalis was chosen as the raid boss for the event, and the event's story ends with Fatalis being killed by a dragonator from the Soaratorium after being weakened by the main characters of Dragalia Lost. There are some other shenanigans going on, but this is technically a slaying of Fatalis outside of legend that does predate Iceborne Title Update 5 by a good few months.
Some of the ones I know: - Deviljho eats it's tail. A classic one, we thought it was real and it wasn't. It was most likely a joke where people would put meat under his tail to create this illusion. - I think the segment about obscure weapons is missing the medium bowgun, it was only present in Tri... And I don't think it was very good. - Speaking of Tri, here's a more obscure one: there's a glitch where certain items (Like Rathian plate) can never be obtained by legitimate means. - Some collabs were mention, but MH has had some interesting japanese-only collabs with famous anime (One Piece, Evangelion, etc.), brands like Pizza Hut or Famitsu, and there was even a Hatsune Miku event in Frontier. - Inside a couple Monster Hunter games there are "forbidden weapons" that are way stronger than normal weapons and can't be obtained by normal means. These were most likely used by the developers as a sort of testing tool. There are a lot of secrets and easter eggs in these games and these are some I remembered from watching this video lol.
I firmly believe that the Huntsman is from MHFU. He probably uses a longsword now because his old bones can't use a greatsword effectively. Age is a bitch and that old badas is probably still hunting in his 60's.
This is my first video I have watched by you. Definitely earned my sub and I would watch the video of you doing the other iceberg video if you did make it!
Too add more fuel to the Freedom Unite Huntsman theory, he is the field team leaders master as proven by dialogue in the low rank zorah quest. Perhaps he taught him to use the great sword but reverted to long sword with his old age, idk just what I honestly thought.
I dunno about tonfa, but its unlikely for the magnet weapon & accel axe to made its appearance in main game, unless they do another espinas case, bcs the weapon type are made surrounding the monster exclusive to that series, magnet weapon bcs there is magnet dragon in frontier, and accel axe based of the exclusive brachydios subspesies, iceblast brachydios
on the topic of serpentine wyverns, they fixed them with mizutsune and almudron by strictly limiting them on flat surfaces which simplifies the physics needed to animate them correctly, however it is very much not applicable to world because seeing a large flat surface like that in world will look terribly ugly, go fight lavasioth on his special corner and see how awkward the area with 3 holes because of how flat it is and go fight jyura on the furthest swamp area and notice that the whole area he is swimming on is not flat so the area feels 'natural'
"White Fatalis kills the player" This references to how Frontier White Fatalis had an attack that instantly erased a hit player and removed him from the quest. Here a video: ua-cam.com/video/J-KwP3iLzQk/v-deo.htmlsi=6mJRIXDVwkY0Q0bR Go to 6:35 and see how that poor Hunter get's vaporized.
missing the rotting vale beeing a giant dalamadur corpse which is even visible on the map itself and that the hunters guild etc builds big villages etc near alatreon nests and dissuades hunters from hunting or even knowing about them on purpose (which is the actual reason they destroyed all information on it) since alatreon is not really interested in hunting humans and is a great natural deterrent against potential other dangers such as elderdragons.
The Hellfire Jagras reminded me how fun mods were in World before Iceborne released. Was much hornier back then so mainly used it for the skimpier/nude versions of armor sets, but was also fun to fight Thomas the Train Engine as Nergigante.
Being a rival to fatalis doesn’t make him stronger than or equal to fatalis, it just means he can give him a good fight, which alatreon could do as well.
I actually got my father to import portable 3rd at release back then, but i couldnt speek japanese, so my friend and i (at the age of 13) had to predict every item and component haha. Was kind of fun, but we still went back to mhfu
Yes dive into one and try to make it 1h or more I love those deep lore and stuff, there's already a. Video made with almost 3h it was kinda goood to me but I didn't took everything that seriously in the video but it was good and The song that was playing was Eerie and kinda strange and attracting, the voice behind teh video was of a woman
“About colonialism” Jesus you can’t put a fucking marshmallow in a game without someone who’s never played it screaming about how it’s about marshmallows.
Fellas. I get it, I f@&ked up. Safi dumpsters Alatreon. That’s my bad, I wasn’t aware Safi was Fatalis tier. Pls forgive me, pls have mercy
No mercy for sinners
No. Perish.
lolno.
Anyone who genuinely thinks that Safi is even on or above the same tier as alatreon are in complete delusion
Safi'jiiva is a red dragon (Which isn't even a tier, it was completely made up by fanon and fanboys who want to so desperately cling to the idea that safi can hang with the big boys)
Alatreon and Fatalis are both black dragons, which are on a completely higher tier than Safi'jiiva. (Even from a gameplay perspective alot of arena videos where alatreon goes head to head with safi, Alatreon ends up mopping the floor with safi. I mean ffs Safi'jiiva has like 40,000 hp while alatreon has 118,000)
Safi'jiiva is not a black dragon and anyone who says he is, is inhaling massive amounts of copium.
The "white fatalis kills the player" entry refers to how in one of the games white fatalis has a move that doesn't cart the player, it outright erases them
But that doesn't make you fail the "quest" unless you've already died twice/three times (there's a road skill that gives you an extra cart).
@@athos9293moxie?
I think that's crimson
Not to mention, its cocoon itself looks like the Sapphire Star
Yeah was just about to say this
bro thinks Im gonna stare at him for 40 mins...
This whole video is just a massive mess. He needs to hire an editor
Oh, I know the White Fatalis one! In Frontier Z, there is a special White Fatalis which has a special attack where if you get hit, instead of fainting normally, you just disappear.
Though, in effect, it works as any other cart
Yeah that's because in lore white fatalis can travel through time so what I think it's doing is erasing you from time it's self
Thanks for doing his job lmao
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for filling in some of the blanks 😄
26:26 the Kushala worshipping thing is further expanded by the Sunbreak notes in the Jungle and how an ancient race used to worship Kushala until they figured out to hunt it which may have given birth to hunting altogether
😂😂😂 wttff
I like the Dark Souls vibe of the Ancient Civilization, it fits with the story because the entire reason humans still exist is because the survivors of the Dragon War changed to adapt & preserve nature instead of violating it.
19:27 I think it refers to frontiers G-rank white fatalis from the hunting road gamemode, basically if you get hit by 1 of his laser beams and it 1 shots you, instead of carting the normal way your character gets obliterated into nothingness
But it works as a normal cart.
@@athos9293 gameplay wise yes you will be sent to the base camp if you loose all your hp just like any other monster hunter game.

It was also on there old ass engine wilds is rex which is a very good engine
@@BigGomerYeah, Lagiacrus apparently was very true to his name because beta tests for the leviathan skeleton caused the older engine to lag badly and even crash with calculating the collisions.
Fatalis doesn't use the Leviathan model
@@athos9293 Please look at Lagiacrus, Lao Shan Lung, and then Fatalis. All of the models in Monsters Hunter tend to use similar models with "Wyverns" and "Chelicerate" models being the two major ones. Leviathan models use the Wyvern models as a base, just like Brute Wyverns, Piscine Wyverns, Fanged Wyverns, and all of the elder dragons. Fatalis is using the same model, but with the same adjustments Lao Shan Lung or Lagiacrus got with their Leviathan models.
@@BloodNobleofSoD And World wyverns use the previous skeleton's animations as a model for their own, in your definition of model
Tri also had the underwater ruins, with the underwater dragonator, which was pretty cool, and it kinda reminds me of the myths about Atlantis!
That giant gate is my favorite part of the map
Safi gets countered by Alatreon as per lorebook.
Safi > Fatty > Alatreon > Safi.
Eh? Eh??
@@Axeqr No Safi is still relatively weaker than fatalis but is the only monster that rivals the strength of fatalis, so
Fatty>safi>alatreon
Wonder where dire miralas fits unless he got snapped out of existence lol
We could have seen a potentially much stronger Safi if we wouldn't have killed the Xeno in World.
The location to absorb energy was much better.
That's where the origin of fatalis growing back from a single scale comes from after all, as the GS itself grows back into its full shape after being mined.
nice vid but i want to add a few things which i personally find intriguing:
10:25 because the White ones have many albino traits such as pale skin, lacking pigment, easilly getting damaged by sunlight,...However, those traits force them to migrate to snowy regions where they can thrive while the Red ones can not. Moreover, the caves in Old World are either damp caves or crystallize caves so a big White thing doesn't stand out much unlike a Red one. These are the reasons why people theorized that the Red Khezu are the original species getting outcompeted by their Subspecies version
28:56 Gaia Dragon isn't its real name, only a few individuals being so ancient that the Guild gave them a different name to separate them from their original species being Earth Dragon (like how Rare Species are premium Subspecies) to highlight their strength and rarity. On the other hand, the species juvenile form is called Ground Dragon. They also have the ability to fly but soon lose it as the creatures get older
35:51 i think i saw this being mentioned more than 16 years ago, way back when the first few monster hunter games were released. People posted about all types of make up bs monsters back then to scare the newbies and to add more mysteries into the games but this stood out the most for me. An old concept about an Elder Dragon that's supposed to be removed from the game but people somehow still saw it
I’m surprised the rule of four wasn’t on there. Why there is traditionally only four hunters on quests.
Wasnt it because of a guild master wife coming along with them on a hunt and dying?
@@zom6iecreeper166 I believe it was the old man from the first game that was the Hero or whatever who slew the white monoblos alone because his original part was like five hunters and his wife was one of them and died if I remember it correctly. So once the guild was established I think that’s when it was established that hunting parties had to be four or less because it was seen as bad luck to have more then four.

Oh haha. Oh haha. Oh haha. Oh haha. Oh haha.
"Upright tree dragon" refers to an old concept for a quadrupedal, lao looking dragon with a tree on its back that could dtand on its hind legs.
19:13 Narwa has magnetic abilities I think.
Yes
28:24, I like that design, sad it ain't used.
If he was using tonfas then he was playing frontier, pretty sure the frontier game is the only one with 2 extra new weapons, hope that helps :)
Nice little fact the ancient civilization gave us two weapon types the switch axe and charge blade
So glad you're back man! I've missed your content alot
The dragon is standing upright also. I didn’t do a huge amount of research but it seems likely this is what the myth is.
I will never understand why some people hold so tightly to the concept art lore that was never really canon in the first place.
Even though it was a fleeting reference, I like that you mentioned Stories when talking about fighting another player’s monster.
I know it’s a side game, and is very over looked by many parts of the monster Hunter community as a whole, but i think it’s a great game. Baby’s first monster hunt, that doesn’t prepare them for the real thing…but still an amazing play
i always thought shara was one of the 5. specifically the one that "looked up to the ky and created the mountains". which made sense to me
A multipart video on one of the bigger icebergs would be a good mini series.
One thing to add about the whole muslim prayer thing:
The vocal sample pretty much just made its way into a sound bank, and that sound bank is then lisenced out to several companies/composers.
I would love an 8+ hour long vid of the long iceberg, good as background noise for an 8 hour long work day to listen to!

one thing that I believe was cut content was that Fatalis gear would continue to grow, suggesting that Fatalis could revive itself or something along those lines
Pretty good stuff, definitely didn’t know some of the things in there! I love Iceberg videos so I’ll happily watch another one from you!
1: They both have their own specific quest and are not found in any other places
2: They have their own unique maps.
Weapons from Explore and Frontier:
I hate to be the rain on this particular parade...but i dont think they will ever come back.
It operated like a Hammer, a greatsword, a longsword, a Charge Blade and even Gunlance. and in frontier, after it's introduction, there was a MASSIVE drop off which never recovered of those weapon types
However.
Monster Hunter Orage:
Aside from the new monsters.
Extinct Species:
Though Some species went extinct by natural selection, back before hunters had the Guild or Commision, Excessive Hunting and Trophy Hunting took place.
It's assumed by the characters in the comic that the Khezu being there was acting as a natural deterrant for the Tigrex, a much more aggressive and dangerous foe.
maybe the real monsters were the friends you made along the way
I know this video is 7 months old but regarding 19:39 there’s a lore card that says White Fatalis armor slowly turns the hunter into White Fatalis and brings misfortune to the smithy that forges the armor.

I'm pretty sure the field team leader stated that his master, the huntsman, used to be a greatsword user. He switched to the longsword later in his life as his strength waned and had to rely on grace instead.
DIVE INTO THE OTEHR. FINALLY MH ICEBERG
Am curious as to why mods are on this iceberg
the titles of each thing goes away too fast... i can't read them without pausing
I think the unknown wyrvern is a ratholos type monster that took the best attributes from its ancestors or parents over many generations to create it
Think you should get adequate rest and research and do this video again so it doesn’t seem like you half assed it.
PLEASE do the massive one
Some of the ones I know:
- Deviljho eats it's tail.
Everything related to the Ancient Civilization makes you wonder what tools and weapons did they have to go on par with Elder Dragons all the time.
How do you mess up at the very first one, just how?
Too add more fuel to the Freedom Unite Huntsman theory, he is the field team leaders master as proven by dialogue in the low rank zorah quest. Perhaps he taught him to use the great sword but reverted to long sword with his old age, idk just what I honestly thought.
Subbed, would 100% watch that longer iceberg video, make it happen chef 🖤
"White Fatalis kills the player"
This references to how Frontier White Fatalis had an attack that instantly erased a hit player and removed him from the quest.

Go to 6:35 and see how that poor Hunter get's vaporized.
Hear me out, monster hunter stories, depicts the last of the descendants from the ancient Civilization
missing the rotting vale beeing a giant dalamadur corpse which is even visible on the map itself and that the hunters guild etc builds big villages etc near alatreon nests and dissuades hunters from hunting or even knowing about them on purpose (which is the actual reason they destroyed all information on it) since alatreon is not really interested in hunting humans and is a great natural deterrent against potential other dangers such as elderdragons.
The Hellfire Jagras reminded me how fun mods were in World before Iceborne released. Was much hornier back then so mainly used it for the skimpier/nude versions of armor sets, but was also fun to fight Thomas the Train Engine as Nergigante.
Wyvern Rex is not supossed to be an ancestor to all monnster, just the flying wyvern that walk on all fourth(Tigrex, Narga and Barioth)
Yeah, there are two separate branches
Wait, what about Gigginox?
@@athos9293 I think it has the same skeleton so it should be part of the group. I just did not know how many people know that he exits.
I get 5 hours, do hard labour, have sleeping problems, and don’t feel tired everyday, you might wanna get checked for somthing
Yes yes please do the massive iceberg
Iceborn Book conform that Safijiva is rival to Fatalis so that meen that he can take down Alatreon.
Please never use that unbearably loud sound effect in-between topics ever again
“About colonialism”
Jesus you can’t put a fucking marshmallow in a game without someone who’s never played it screaming about how it’s about marshmallows.
