- Do you want to reduce road noise and improve car audio quality in your Audi SQ5? In this video, we will show soundproofing an Audi SQ5 and installing a subwoofer using the best car sound deadening material and techniques.
Soundproofing a car can make a huge difference in the comfort and enjoyment of your ride. It can reduce the external noise from the engine, tires, wind, and traffic, and enhance the sound quality and clarity of your car audio system. It can also improve the thermal insulation and vibration damping of your car, making it more energy-efficient and durable.
Installing a subwoofer can also boost the performance and power of your car audio system. It can add more bass and depth to your music, and create a more immersive and balanced sound experience. It can also complement the soundproofing effect by filling the gaps and masking the noise.
To soundproof an Audi SQ5 and install a subwoofer, we followed these steps:
We removed the interior panels, seats, and carpet of the car, and cleaned the metal surfaces.
We applied sound deadening material to the roof, trunk, doors, and floor of the car, using a roller and a heat gun to ensure a smooth and secure installation. We covered about 80% of the surface area with sound deadening material, focusing on the areas with the most noise and vibration.
We added sound deadening insulation, such as Thinsulate, to the gaps and cavities of the car, using spray adhesive and scissors to cut and fit the insulation. We covered about 40% of the surface area with sound deadening insulation, focusing on the areas with the most heat and cold transfer.
We installed a subwoofer, audison 10 inch, in the trunk of the car. We connected the subwoofer to the car audio system, and adjusted the settings and levels to achieve the best sound quality and balance.
We reinstalled the interior panels, seats, and carpet of the car, and tested the soundproofing and subwoofer installation results.
We were very satisfied and impressed with the soundproofing and subwoofer installation results.

All this work to make the video and couldn't spend an additional 10 minutes to get decibel readings.
It is not a 10 min thing and also we do not like the risk of driving clients cars unless it is fully necessary. This particular client has had the same thing done on 5 cars so far, should tell you enough :)
