Thank you so much Rob. I finally got around to fixing the faucet drip, and with your video...I was able to. I had to buy a complete assembly...valve, seat, and spring, at Lowes(all for under 25 dollars)...but it was well worth it. Your video was complete, concise, and easy to understand. I honestly could not have done it without your video. God bless you bro!
Everything about this was helpful. The steps were clear and detailed, I even went to the hardware store and found the right parts. Fixed my Fossett and saved a ton of money. You are the man.
Thank you!! Came across your video yesterday. This was very helpful. My only issue, my fear of spiders LOL! I had to go under my crawlspace (oh the horrors!) to get to the valve to shut my water off to the house. Everything was spot on and I'm proud to say I fixed it myself!
Super well done video with great close ups and detailed descriptions. Very Informative. Great idea to show/recommend replacement of the o-rings and lubricant.
On my tub, the spring and rubber cap is at the bottom of a narrow pipe 5-6 inches deep. If I somehow manage to get it out, I have no confidence I could re-seat a new one and be able turn the water to the house back on.
So I literally did everything you did. But it’s still leaking out of area near the stop. Slow puddle up around the stem. Like it’s coming from the center/middle. Any ideas?
My "chrome ring" does not just spin off. I've tried spinning it. I've tried to get a flathead screwdriver underneath to pry it up but it's too tight. Any suggestions?
I think if you buy the whole cartridge it would fix it, maybe. They had the whole cartridge at my local home depot so I don't think they're hard to get, or expensive.
Praying someone sees this and helps. Problem I am having is I can not get the valve to turn all the way closed. I have replaced the spring seal, black cover seal and the cartridge but I am still having this problem. I turn the hot water valve all the way open but when I got to shut it off I catches and will not close all the way. There was an extra stopper piece in the cartridge, which I removed to more motion out of the valve but that did not work either. Anyone else run across this problem and have a fix?
So, I’ve done this several times and changed the spring and seat out. However, after about a week, the leak returns. I noticed that the seat is ripped each time. Any ideas for what’s causing this to happen?!
I can't get that chrome decorative plate unscrewed. It is corroded on. I've sprayed it several times with penetrating oil. Any tips for getting this off? Is there a tool I can use?
@@robbih9291 Yes. I got it off. I ended up using groove joint pliers and was careful not to squeeze too hard. It came right off. The chrome decorative plate wasn't scratched too bad, so it worked out well.
I think replacing the o-rings on the plastic thingy (valve body) will probably fix it, or else just replace the plastic valve body altogether. They are easily available at big hardware stores. Just be sure to bring it in with you for comparison.
Not sure what you mean. after you remove the knob, you need to remove the chrome ring, then you can remove the nut. if you are saying you cannot get pliers or a wrench on it, then you may need to use a large socket... Last resort is $150 to a plumber

Sounds great, I'm glad it helped. If I did it over again I'd suggest a flyswatter as one of the necessary tools:-)
Thanks Rob. got one leaking just like yours. now I know how to fix it.
I want to thank you for your video. I fixed my dripping spout and it was easy! I love all those diy videos!

Hi, I am having a drip as well but I’m planning on changing out the entire faucet to a newer one. Should that fix the drip since it’s a new set?
So I literally did everything you did. But it’s still leaking out of area near the stop. Slow puddle up around the stem. Like it’s coming from the center/middle. Any ideas?
Hello, I have the same faucet but want to replace it. How do I remove it? Thanks
Thanks.
This has been a great help. What brand faucet is this? This looks similar to mine, mine is gold and I would like change it to silver.
My "chrome ring" does not just spin off. I've tried spinning it. I've tried to get a flathead screwdriver underneath to pry it up but it's too tight. Any suggestions?
What if the cartridge was replaced and the water just keeps running ? I am having that problem right now.
so was the seat and spring the issue or was it the cartridge too? what was the cause of your leaky tub faucet?
any recommendations if the knob just keeps turning? water will turn on and off but no stop just have to find the sweet spot to get it to turn off
I think if you buy the whole cartridge it would fix it, maybe. They had the whole cartridge at my local home depot so I don't think they're hard to get, or expensive.
Can add a diverter to the spout?

Mine does the same thing
I can't get that chrome decorative plate unscrewed. It is corroded on. I've sprayed it several times with penetrating oil. Any tips for getting this off? Is there a tool I can use?
I have the same problem. Did you get it removed? If so, please share how you did it!

What is the faucet model?
I did mine and I probably didn't put something back together correctly because the water at first wouldn't cut off once I put it all back together. 😅😅
Do you want to cut the water off?
Mine leaks on the handle when I turn the hot water handle on. Will this fix the issue. Water comes out of the hot handle.

just curious Rob, why do you need to apply grease to the o ring... thank you in advance.
You probably don't my guess is that it wears off before long anyway, but it does help when putting it together.
How do you get the nut off when it is recessed in the tub?
Not sure what you mean.
after you remove the knob, you need to remove the chrome ring, then you can remove the nut.
if you are saying you cannot get pliers or a wrench on it, then you may need to use a large socket...

The dripping slowed down significantly, but my tub is still dripping. Any advice?
Did you replace the seats in both sides?
@@Johnny-rj9on Yes
how do you know which handle is the issue?
You might as well just do them both
If the drip is warm water it’s your hot etc...
It would REALLY help if you had the camera pointed at whatever it is that you're doing. Focus would help, too.
I have trouble staying focused.
Part number?
Hey I ask for faucet not the knob.
Do you have to cut the water off?
So hard to properly see what you're doing...overall good tip !
