Thanks for making a DIY video that is to the point and doesn't talk about how your grandmother once saw a grey rock on a Thursday back in 1949 and then list your top 100 flavors of ice cream before actually showing how to do the repair.

Thanks so much for the video! Right now my entire life is falling apart! My father passed away recently and now I've got to do everything he did and try to keep myself in existence. I've got a leak in the basement and upstairs the bath tub is dripping and I'm thinking whenever I shower it's going on the basement floor? By doing what you are showing here I'm hoping to eliminate the problems in that area and move forward to all the other maintenance this home requires. You never know just what a person is like until they're gone. My Dad was Superman! Me? I can't even begin to compare to the amazing gift he had at making this a perfect home.

Just so you know, if yours only has one handle for hot&cold I replaced mine and it was very easy! Even though there was only one handle there was still two separate holes and all you have to do is replace whichever side looks bad. Usually it's a bad seal (looks like a tiny rubber band). You should be able to physically see which one (or both) are bad. Just make sure you pay attention to how you took everything out and just put it all back the same! Other than that the process is about the same as this video. Hope this helps!

Any way to tell what cartridge you need short of pulling one of them out of the wall first? I just moved into a new house and the cold side is dripping steadily only from the tub spout.
No leaks above or below, otherwise. I haven't located my water cutoff yet. I was hoping to match the stem cartridge without opening up, but I guess I'll have to. I have a two faucet
shower system, with spout and lower chrome bath/shower lever plate. No middle faucet diverter. Can I pull it without turning the water off? I also was told sometimes there's a back
seat piece and seal or O-Ring that has to be replaced at the back of the stem, but not all of them have that. If you replace both and still get leaks, it's likely a problem in the piping
in the walls, and may require access from outside the shower wall, or behind it, which is a much bigger job and I'd call a plumber if so.

I have a question and maybe you'll know the answer. My tub faucet is doing something weird, not quite like this but it thought I'd ask. I turn off the faucet and its fine no water running. Within 10 or 20 minutes I return and it doing a steady drip of hot water. If I turn either faucet on and off again it stops temporarily again. Is this the solution to that as well? Or something different?

If your house is old and you replaced the Valve and it still leaks, You will have to replace the pipe itself because they wear out over the years and it is very costly , in most cases you will have to cut into the wall to get to the pipes, I had this issue and it was very costly, had to cut away the tiles to get to the wall, then cut the wall to get to the pipes, Very Big job, and cost a arm and a leg to have it done, there is no way around it,
