    I just love how easily the handles pop off the faucet in your video. I have exactly the same Delta Faucet model on my tub - it took nearly two hours to pry/saw off the handles that got completely welded to the stems. That is - after successfully removing the set screws...

    Thanks for the video! Seeing how you removed the tub made it easy for us to remove ours. However, we're not so sure about how remove the tiled plywood surrounding the tub. I would have liked actually seeing how you did it instead of just saying it peels open like an orange. To complicate the situation, we have a layer of drywall cemented between the tile and the plywood. It's quite thick. I am overwhelmed.

    thanks! when you were checking the valves for shut-off and water flow at the end, I would suggest having a plastic 'tub/bucket' to contain the potential water flow.

    Great video. I haven't seen any of the programs on over the air TV in the south end of the San Joaquin Valley in California so I tune into UA-cam.
    I am trying to take out a Roman tub in a mobile home. Unfortunately they don't have a set screw or allen screw in the back of the faucet and I am a bit baffled on how to take the faucet off. I really liked the recent video on working with metal studs.

      If there is no set screw then it is threaded on. simply turn the faucet counter clockwise.

    I have a fiberglass roman tub that I am trying to remove to change out the faucet. I have a hole cut out through the plywood at the vertical front but that will not allow me sufficient space to de-solder the old faucet tubes and solder the new new ones. I need access from the inside, so that means removing the tub. I plan on re-tiling as well. I have removed tiles from the walls and the vertical ones around the tub, but the horizontal tiles around the tub are really hard to remove - there is a thickness of thinset underneath them (I think about 1/4" or so) on top of plywood that sits atop a 2"X10" wood board for rigidity. The tiles and thinset were placed after the tub, so they are binding the lower lip of the tub. I have tried breaking the bind by hammering a narrow putty knife into the bond area between the tub and the tiles/thinset all the way around the tub, but it's still binding. With the exception of a short length where I can pry up the tub, the remainder of the perimeter does not want to come up. Do you have any suggestions to free the tub loose without damaging the tub?

    • @franklopes3648
      @franklopes3648 2 роки тому

      Doing the job right now, wearing a mask and safety glasses! What a fine dusty mess this is! The dust takes forever to settle because it's so fine! I am cutting a 1/2 inch width of tiling along the perimeter of the tub using an angle grinder and diamond blade to free up the tub. I have also found that the builder incorporated steel mesh into the thinset underneath the tiles. Once I finish cutting and then remove that 1/2 inch of tiling by hammer and chisel, I should be able to lift out the tub. Things are not as easy as some make them out to be on UA-cam, lol.

    We have a 1995 garden tub. We would like to replace the old handles and spigot faucet. So we have found a new one that we like but it's not the same brand. There's no access panel to the pipes under the tub. Are there any adapters that you know of that you can use to change from brand to brand when doing this type of replacement? And a advice would be so helpful. We hate to have to take out tile on the side just to get to access but we know we may have to if there's no other choice. Thanks

    I’ve been using your vids as inspiration to do my bathroom remodel myself. I have a tub like this that I’m thinking of getting glazed over instead of tearing it out. My problem is that it was installed in the 90’s, it’s a black jacuzzi with brass hardware. If I remove the faucet like you did, can I replace it with another without having access to the underside? I want to add chrome fixtures.

    I am looking at buying a house where the laundry is in a closet in the house and I want to move to the garage and add a utility sink. Water supply lines are easy as the water heater is right there in the garage. House is all on concrete slab. The other side of the garage interior wall is the master bathroom. On that wall is garden tub, tiled shower and toilet. I was thinking of tying into the drain under the garden tub. Is this something that can easily be done considering I would have to pull the tub and chip out some concrete?

    Please help! I have a corner jacuzzi tub and it appears the prior owners did not create access panels. It is in a tile surround and the tile continues to a walk in shower on one side. I want to replace the roman tub faucet that requires new rough with mixer because new faucet (Hansgrohe Metropol) has a single lever and the third hole is for a handheld. Would I have a tile guy cut through the tile to make an access door, or try to lift out tub? How do you disconnect and lift out a jacuzzi tub? I would then reinstall the tub.

  • @soneeeee4440

    good video. i have a early 90s rectangular tiled in roman tub like this one, the faucets are dripping pretty bad (through the spout) when closed to the point where its costing me water. kohler taboret faucets with no visible washers on the top side like yours. I need to get inside the box to change washers or cartridges but theres no access panel. All I see is a line of 3 and 4 screws on each of the 2 exposed sides with wood screw-hole covers in them, everything's grouted including the plastic trim lip at the top where vertical meets horizontal or vertical. I'm guessing this means I have to remove the whole side (the short one) by unscrewing the 3 screws, ripping the trim piece off the top and right side, cutting caulk at bottom and wall side ? Thought of calling plumber, but I guess I should do this part myself to save $. How long would it take a plumber to remove the tiled end? Is it a matter of minutes? Could there be some kind of access through the tile/plywood that i'm missing or is that how they (stupidly) did it back then? I might need plumber if faucets cant be fixed, i have kohler replacement parts but changed design has to be soldered, which i would need plumber for anyway. Thanks for any advice

    • @HomeRenoVisionDIY
      @HomeRenoVisionDIY  5 років тому

      Ouch. another good reason the not have this style of tub. I would suggest removing the panel yourself. Plumbers don't get trained to do that sort of work and you might end up having him wreck something or leaving since the job is not ready.

    Does that mean the tub and tile sit on wood instead of Hardy Backer board? It may just seem that way from the viewer angle. If not I don’t understand why there isn’t a concern for leaking and possibly rotting the wood. Thank you!
