Exactly I really wish it was cheaper, your better off spending 150 on a tablet and I seen you can get Poe charge adapters for them. Just hard to justify being it’s almost as expensive as a high end galaxy tab

For digital signage at church we took a large TV with only 1 working HDMI port, tacked on a Raspberry Pi with a digital signage build. It has played for 4+ years. Cheap, reliable and recycled.

    Cody, nice review as always!
I have a 7" display in my bedroom and a 13" display in my kitchen. Both are set to show my Protect cameras.
The color and contrast on the touch screen are great. Sound can be controlled remotely or locally.
In addition to the zoom, timeline access, viewing by events, etc, you can set roles and schedules for the UI.
My wife can adjust some settings (like microphone sensitivity), but not others (like adjusting exposure).
Schedules can also be setup in the Connect app. EG: the 7" display in my bedroom dims to 25% brightness and 30% volume from 2100 to 1159. From midnight to 0700 the levels are reduced to 5% and 10% respectively and then back up to normal levels during the daytime.
The schedules got the WAF (wife acceptance factor) up to 95%...especially since I travel a lot and she can see what is happening outside at night.

Does the screen dim and bright up when you are away or close to the screen?
Also, did you try if you can talk when someone ring on the doorbell?

      @nunyabusiness2127 Рік тому

@@denlysineath-sinn2092 I have the "Auto-Sleep" feature set to off so I cannot speak to that feature.
But neither of my displays brighten or dim based on proximity. They do however brighten and dim based on the schedules I set.

Cool device. But I would rather have a Unify device that accepts PoE and outputs HDMI, so I can connect a Big TV like 80" for digital signage. It would be cool if Unify will give more features for Digital Signage, like grouping with different videos, videos with frames (so you can open a webpage like weather or RSS feed for news texts to scroll).

This looks like a great option for giving a reception or guard desk the video feed from Protect. It could as be used for things like customer sign-in or wavers. If you set up a website for to-go orders, that could be another use. It would be good if they partnered with companies like Square as a register terminal with Bluetooth card readers and printers.

I know the unified connect is designed for a commercial kiosk and other things like that, and very well built and strong and sturdy. But I have a 27-in model with the wall mount normal TV VESA adapter And it displays my protect cameras, all 16 of them on there. Mounted in my master bed room. My wife really loves this because she can just walk up to the cameras select what she wants to see or select new cameras. And then I have a 7-in one and that one I have going to my home assistant dashboard and sign in with an account that only has access to a set of dashboards and it's on my work desk. And I have it mounted with the desk mount stand, which is very sturdy and very hefty and weight. And then I also have a wall flush mount adapter, but it doesn't fit any standards as far as electrical boxes or anything like that so I'm going to have to cut the circular hole and then mount it with anchors but it's very thin compared to where the drywall is so be difficult but I'm going to do that eventually and put in the wall by the front door. But it's a perfect little thing as a home assistant touch screen dashboard. It is very expensive so I wouldn't recommend using it for that purpose, but these both were my test units and so just putting them to good use.

I'm looking for something like this, but to me it makes more sense to buy a mini PC or NUC and a 13"-15" portable, touchscreen HDMI display for about the same price-maybe even an OLED screen if you find a good sale. And then you have a *full PC* running whatever OS you want, can view any webpage in 4K, run any app you want, see your Protect feeds, etc. The size seems a bit odd: too big and clunky for a dashboard (and too low of a resolution at 1080p), and not big enough as effective digital signage. And the chunky bezels makes the screen overall feel dated.

Great new product, thanks for sharing. I may buy one. As much as I love Unifi. 5:56 makes me glad I haven't left the Hikvision cams yet. Dynamic range is not good there. Can't believe how overexposed the light parts are (esp first picture in the second row). Unifi interface is fantastic, and Hik is horrible. But they really need to get it together with dynamic range on those cams.

When they announced it I was really excited for it. But now that it's out I'm pretty disappointed, I've seen better point of sale/narrowcasting systems that just work with a auto deploying Android tablet or Chromebox. Even the option to display signage as a "screensaver" isn't there.

This product looks good on paper, but in practice it is quite bad. Touch screen is great, but the app implementation is laggy, unstable, and just not very responsive. Trying to do anything on the display feels like a submarine captain issuing orders that need to be repeated and issued again until finally the little man at the controls inside the monitor responds. I want to like my Connect display, but having it for over a year with no meaningful performance fixes leaves me a bit sad. I typically go back to the browser for Protect since the Connect display is rubbish, good only for a static view "quick look", and forget about navigating on it for specific incident review.

Magnetic mounting with a little slider lock doesn't seem very secure for a potentially public facing device, at that price businesses are going to get sick of replacing them very quickly.

in unifi protect, does it allow for showing de-warped 360 camera views ? the viewport is really lacking this

    • @MactelecomNetworks

@@MactelecomNetworks nope, if i set up a view with 4 different angles from the same camera it looks fine in the the web interface. but when you push that view to the viewport you just end up with 4 fisheye views of the same camera. real shame

They have priced themselves out of the market, it’s like 3 times what it should be. Too small as a sign unless at reception, it’s really just a large tablet. In this day and age these should be coming down in price as tech is now years old.
