  • A review and comparison of the Lamy Dialog cc with EF and Medium nibs. Overall, the line weights run on the thicker side. I prefer the writing experience of the EF much more so than the M. A pricey but well-built pen that may not suit everyone's grip.

Bad idea to put shimmer inks in a pen that you cannot fully disassemble to clean. Sheeny inks, yes. Shimmery, no.

The thing is, you can disassemble the Lamy Dialog cc.
I would use shimmering inks only in B or BB nibs.

I gave it a good cleaning and put J. Herbin Emeraude de Chivor in it and will see if it helps me to bond with it.

Thanks for taking the time to sharing your thoughts on this pen, I have found my Lamy gold nibs are crazily broad but my steel nibs are consistent and much finer, maybe trying a regular steel nib in your dialog for a finer line?

Hi. You are correct. The steel nib line widths are more to my liking. I’m still trying to get use to the M. I’m putting shimmery inks in it. I may sign up for a custom EEF grind at the DC Pen Show. Thanks for watching and for the advice.

Thanks for the video! My regular Dialog 3 has a great nib - a bit bouncy and smooth and glorious to write with initially. Unfortunately, hard start is its middle (and first) name, no matter which ink I used. My hypothesis is that it dries out quickly due to the closure mechanism. The Dialog CC is intriguing but I will stick with my other Lamy models. It is an interesting pen and I hope that it brings you joy 😊

Hi, Jennifer. Mine seem to be behaving but I think you are right about it not closing properly. I have to look real close to make sure it’s closed each time. It’s very finicky.

You could purchase a spare F nib from any retailer and put that on the blue pen. Maybe that will help? I just purchased them from endless and they still had the rose gold finish left in stock.

Hi, Simone. I keep going back and forth between selling it and buying a new nib. I’m trying new ink right now and may just get a new nib if it doesn’t help. I really like the pen.

It is a VERY bad idea not to clean your pens regularly. The colors are going to stain each other and after a time you'll have hard starts.

Hi. I gave both a good cleaning and they seem ok.. I actually enjoy cleaning pens for some reason. I find it meditative.
