Hi, I’m Terry. Welcome to my art and pen enthusiast channel. I use to draw all the time as a youngster but stopped due to school, work and other priorities. I draw mostly landscapes; my style is pretty basic and I have a lot to work on and learn. I’ve been a pen enthusiast since I was a teenager. I enjoy watching and learning from the various art channels on YT and hope to contribute in some way. Feel free to interact and share your art and pen experiences.

Wancher True Ebonite & Sekai Aizu Urushi Fountain Pens - Review

My thoughts on two Wancher Fountain Pens: the True Ebonite in brown marble and the Sekai Aizu Urushi in Sandalwood. Both are basic models with Jowo #6 steel nibs. Wancher offers various upgrades and options. I bought these directly from Wancherpens.com and they ship from Japan. They arrived 5 days after purchase via UPS. Excellent experience overall.

Abeete Automatic Inking Fountain Pen - Review
Переглядів 9483 місяці тому
My review of the Abeete self-filling fountain pen. The pen uses no converter or cartridge. Instead it uses a proprietary ink bottle that uses a suction-like system to automatically add the ink into the barrel. I'm surprised that I actually like this pen. It can use Lamy nibs with minor adjustments. This is the only pen Abeete makes that I saw. Strangely, they make this pen and trash cans.

Thank you. Love the ink samples, Teri. My most recent pen, a Black Twsbi EF inked with Carbon Black and enjoying it. The extra fine nib isn't as fine as I was expecting, but a very good flow and smooth writer. I haven't done any drawing with it yet.
Hi, Jan! Thank you. I’m enjoying the Carbon Black much more than I thought I would. Which TWSBI model did you get?
@@drawinsscribblins5326 I bought another ECO. My previous one is a 1.1 stub nib.
I totally understand the pen/ink struggle with your E95S. Maybe a rich brown would be easier (visually) to try. It would coordinate with the cap nicely. Have a wonderful July!
Hi, Anita. I’m going back to the deep reds. I just thought it would work. You have a wonderful July as well. Looking forward to seeing what you have for us this month.
I like your choice of the Fermo with the Truffle ink. Very nice!
Hi, Kevin. I didn’t think I would like that ink but it has become one of my favorites. Thanks for watching and commenting!
A galaxy of beautiful ink colors on the first page. When you started writing with the E95S I cringed at the blue ink. Isn’t that funny how some combinations are just wrong?
Hi, Peggy. I’m happy to know that it’s not just me. I thought I was being silly.
Beautiful currently inked for June!
Thank you. I enjoyed your June video. You have such a beautiful collection with some crazy nibs!
@@drawinsscribblins5326 thank you 💕 I do have some crazy nibs.
How am I just picking up that you are ambidextrous??? What what what??? That's amazing! You're handwriting is gorgeous with both hands. My handwriting is bootleg even with my dominant hand.
Wendi Sue!! I’ve taught myself as a child to write with both. You have beautiful handwriting.
Thank you for your video! I've seen so few reviews or info about this pen. I have one that should be arriving any day now. I can't wait! I got the plum blossom with warbler design.
You are very welcome. This is one of my favorite pens. I have one in M and F. Both are excellent. I hope you like yours. I look forward to your review!
The Chinese have the right idea including a converter. Catch up people! 😂
Hi. I know, right. I have expensive Platinum and Cross pens that don’t come with converters. I don’t get it.
Oh no, I would not recommend vinta inks in any pen that can not be disassembled completely, especially with shimmer, that’s a big no no
Hi. Thanks for the info. Fortunately or unfortunately, I didn’t like the Lakbay in the F Duna. It was too light and dry so it wasn’t in there very long.
Love your new pens! You always find something out of the ordinary.
Hi, Anita. The Maiora has been my favorite so far. I plan on doing g reviews of each soon starting with the Pilot.
The only Pineider I have is the Twin Tank Touchdown with an extra fine (later upgraded to a stub 1.1) and I had absolutely no problem with it, I do know of people that had similar issues though so I guess I lucked out, I will say that they didn't lie on the ultra resin, that thing took a nasty fall on rocks (yeah, I'm that moron who brings expensive fountain pens while camping) and was completely unscathed, I might actually get another one if they ever make a compact model.
Hi. I’ve been eyeing the Twin Tank. Despite my rant, I’ve haven’t given up on Pineider. I think they will get it right eventually. I have bought a few since and they have been better. Thanks for watching and sharing!!
I have the Opus 88 Jazz Holiday and with large hands like the large size. It is a great writer although two turns would have been better. Great video, thanks!
Hi. I thought the Demo was going to be too big but it is really comfortable. The size of the Omar is just about perfect. Thanks for watching!!
Beautiful pens - really like that Maiora Liberta. Oh and congrats on the 1k! :)
Hi, Eugen. Thank you. I enjoyed your recent video on the desk pen.
@@drawinsscribblins5326 Thank you! :)
I love that you write with both hands!
Hi, Jessica. Thank you for watching. I was obsessed learning to write with both as a kid. It’s been helpful
I liked the sound of the 823 Sig nib. Lovely indeed. I hope you enjoy a different nib than your usual finer ones. 😊
Hi, Dash! I’m trying to branch out with my nibs and inks but I keep going back to fines and blues. 😁
Brave to buy expensive pens untested! Love you voice
Hi! Thank you for the kind words. Brave and maybe a little crazy. I think not knowing is part of the excitement. Pen Boutique is local to me and I’ve only tried a pen in store once. I usually just buy untested. I was really taking a chance with the Pineider but it’s good. Thank you for watching!
I like all of these pens but I’ve been eyeing an 823 for eons feels like and the sig nib is a gorgeous writer. Can’t go wrong with that Iroshizuku ink too. Thanks for sharing your new babies with us.
Hi, Grace. If you like broad nibs, the sig is for you!! My favorite 823 nib by far is the medium.
@@drawinsscribblins5326 The only nib I don’t really like using is an EF, too thin and scratchy, so a Broad wouldn’t be a problem. Thanks!
I like the way you treat yourself.👍🏼 The pens are lovely, looking forward to the reviews after using them more. That signature nib on the Pilot is really broad.
Hi there, Peggy. It is really broad. Luckily, it varies depending on position. I probably wouldn’t like it if it didn’t vary.
Very nice pens! Thank you! Lisa
Hi, Lisa! Thank you for watching and commenting!!
@@drawinsscribblins5326 Of course!
Thanks for taking the time to sharing your thoughts on this pen, I have found my Lamy gold nibs are crazily broad but my steel nibs are consistent and much finer, maybe trying a regular steel nib in your dialog for a finer line?
Hi. You are correct. The steel nib line widths are more to my liking. I’m still trying to get use to the M. I’m putting shimmery inks in it. I may sign up for a custom EEF grind at the DC Pen Show. Thanks for watching and for the advice.
I love your variety of pens. The Two Dunas look like 2 completely different pens - love how that worked out for you!
Hi, Anita. Thank you! I’ve been enjoying the Dunas. Not quite the right inks in them yet though.
@@drawinsscribblins5326 Hope you find the right one soon. I feel the same way.
First off GREAT WORK! Appreciate the art. I have a couple of things. The proportional divider isn’t anymore of crutch than your stump is. I’ve heard people say that their teacher would break their hands if they were caught using a stump. So you should use the proportional divider if it gives you your desired result. Are you an artist?
Hi, thank you for the kind words. The stumps are definitely a crutch. Between you and me, I bought a whole bag full recently. I don’t consider myself an artist yet. I aspire to be one day. I’m still working through the book and will upload an update hopefully next week.
Good way to train your eye and put in a good sense of design. But think about what type of art you want to make and ask yourself if the course will help you develop the necessary skills to create the type of art you want to make.
Lovely ink! Nice writing too! :)
Thank you, Lily. I love the Inspired Blue ink.
@@drawinsscribblins5326 ☺️
A very useful video! Thank you.
Hi! You are welcome. Happy to help. Thank you for watching!
Interesting that you would take a smooth nib and make it less smooth. Never considered a nib could be too smooth
Hi, Steve. I know it sounds weird. It happens rarely but it that feeling like you are writing in glass that I don’t like. It’s like writing on an iPad without a screen protector. It just needs one quick pass on the fine grit sandpaper. I’ve only had to do it with one other nib. Thanks for watching and commenting!!
I have the ‘old’ Delta Dolce Vita medium. Gold nib and beautifully smooth, that nib is also firm. Pleased Delta is back
I’m new to Delta but am also pleased that they are back. I’m hoping to get a gold nibbed one down the line. So far, I only have theirs with steel nibs.
You reminded me of how much I loved my old Pilot Plumix with a calligraphy nib, but I haven't seen it in years. I might have to keep an eye out for another one.
Hi, Peter. The Plumix wasn’t even on my radar. I got mine free at the Baltimore Pen Show. It is kind of goofy looking but that nib is something.
❤❤❤
Hi, Pickwick. Thank you for watching!
as usual, very cool. i hope next month is a blessing for you.
Thank you, Gristle. I appreciate the kind words.
@@drawinsscribblins5326 you are very welcome
Hello!😊 I am curious - how did you fill in your ink swatches? It is beautiful, the effect the inks have on the page! I love your videos!
Hi, Teresa. I used a circle template then just used the pens to color in half of the circle. To test the water fastness, I wetted a cotton swab for the other half. I like doing this b/c it allows me to doodle and I think it shows how the ink behaves in each pen.
@drawinsscribblins5326 thank you for getting back to me! :) I think I will try this! BTW, I am a big fan of yours! I admire how well you write with both hands! I am a lefty. Did you always write smoothly with both hands?
I'm very impressed with your abidextrousness(?)!
Hi! Thank you. It helps ease hand fatigue especially b/c I’m always doodling.
Hi Terry, I always enjoy your videos. Congratulations on hitting 1K subscribers.
Hi, Peggy. Thank you for the support and kind words as always. I appreciate you!
I found a seller on eBay who has custom nib grinds for the Majohn A1/A2//A3 nibs….stub and architect grinds for USD $14
Hi, Mama. I think I found that seller. Thanks for the information. I didn’t know that was an option. I appreciate it!
@@drawinsscribblins5326 no prob. I just placed an order myself for those two custom nibs. Hoping they will be somewhat decent. 😋
I wonder does it come with the whole nib housing unit, or just the metal nib by itself and you have to fit it on your existing feed???
@@jacobslemmer6168 picture in the listing shows it attached to a feed, but that’s a good question :P I have mine ordered but since it’s coming from China it’ll take about a month. I’ll try to find this comment thread to report back when I get mine :)
@@jacobslemmer6168 ok, reporting back…nibs came in today…and it is JUST the nib haha. Oh well. It was surprisingly super easy to slide the nib off the feed for swapping though. Just like a Lamy nib where you can use a piece of scotch tape to slide it off rails. Putting a new nib on takes just a tiny bit of finesse to slide these two little ends into the metal part that holds the feed. But just took a couple more seconds. Easy peasy
Great video! Question: How long did it take you to become an ambidextrous writer, or is that an innate skill?
Hi. Thank you!! I taught myself as a kid...pretty much when I first started writing. I’m a natural righty but I started working on the left hand very early in my writing journey. I would doodle and scribble so much that my right hand would cramp while my left hand wasn’t doing anything. It didn’t take me long. It can be learned with practice.
Great Wall of China. The symbols say 'Made In China'.
Hi, Thank you for the information! I appreciate it.
Thank you for your review - exactly the information I need to decide which nib to choose for getting a new Custom 823!
Hi, Joe. I’m happy to help. I hope you enjoy your 823. It’s one of the best!
Appreciate you sharing your sketchbook side-by-side. Your persistence redrawing the challenging plates and seeing your improvements inspires me to be more diligent with my practice. Excellent work! 👏👏👏 Thank you for post!
Hi. Thank you for the kind words. As I get farther in the book, I’m getting lazier when it comes to redrawing unfortunately. I plan on doing an update video next month.
Hmm, mine definitely doesn't have a cap liner, which is maybe why it doesn't post (cap fits over the back of the pen, but just falls off). Does yours post snugly?
Hi. I was wrong. There is no cap liner. I also bought an EF. They both have a small ridge that looks like a liner until you shine a light on it. They both post snugly but the EF posts better than the F. So, I guess they vary a bit.
Excellent review, thank you
Hi, Phillip. Happy to help! Thank you for watching.
N6 fine point or extra fine ?
Hi. It’s a fine.
I got the same pen for the same reason. It got delayed in transit hopefully it comes in today. I can’t wait to see what it looks like! Enjoy-yours is beautiful!
Hi, Anita. I hope you do a review. I’d love to see how your resin looks.
I love the fact your writing looks good with both hands. The Vinta is too light but it's pretty. Rachelle in Seattle
Hi, Rachelle. The Vinta ink is too light for me. I will probably mix it with a blue or purple to darken it a bit. Thank you for watching and commenting!
You could purchase a spare F nib from any retailer and put that on the blue pen. Maybe that will help? I just purchased them from endless and they still had the rose gold finish left in stock.
Hi, Simone. I keep going back and forth between selling it and buying a new nib. I’m trying new ink right now and may just get a new nib if it doesn’t help. I really like the pen.
Why does the open ink bottle look like it has something on top of the ink? Is it OK?
Hi, Peggy. It was the pink shimmer.
Thanks for the video! My regular Dialog 3 has a great nib - a bit bouncy and smooth and glorious to write with initially. Unfortunately, hard start is its middle (and first) name, no matter which ink I used. My hypothesis is that it dries out quickly due to the closure mechanism. The Dialog CC is intriguing but I will stick with my other Lamy models. It is an interesting pen and I hope that it brings you joy 😊
Hi, Jennifer. Mine seem to be behaving but I think you are right about it not closing properly. I have to look real close to make sure it’s closed each time. It’s very finicky.
It is a VERY bad idea not to clean your pens regularly. The colors are going to stain each other and after a time you'll have hard starts.
Hi. I gave both a good cleaning and they seem ok.. I actually enjoy cleaning pens for some reason. I find it meditative.
