Hey everyone! So sorry about the audio delay going on here -- trying to figure it out now. The video is delayed for some and not others -- it looks like it's something I can confidently blame on UA-cam and still sleep at night. EDIT: Christian says "the video is better if you close your eyes anyway"
For those interested with old vintage awesome watches here is a list to pay attention to: 1) Universal Geneve (Compax + Polerouter) 2) Lemania 3) Zénith Chronograph 4) Bovet 5) Ulysse Nardin 6) Omega Pie Pan 7) Heuer Autavia 8) Gruen Precison 110 (montre James Bond dans Dr No) 9) Girard Pérregaux Gyromatic 10) for cheap money you can also try to find the vintage Churchill LIP Watch (inspired tank and Reverso)
The Lip was inspired *by* I think you meant. I just stumbled across the Lip brand myself and bought a (NOS) Polaris with the lightning bolts, haven't gotten it yet but am really excited.
Any Lip will end up costly over time if you want to keep them running at all. Lip's movements were not built particularly well, nor were they really built to last. That is, WHEN they were actually built to specs as management and the workforce weren't clashing. It should be telling that Lip ended up building soviet-era russian movements under license because it's the only thing management considered economical enough and the workers found manageable to build on schedule. Lip is interesting, had some pretty unique models (the Stop Parking had its own countdown to tell you when your parking fee was about to expire) but keeping them in good shape now is not cheap and will only get worse as parts stockpiles for their less common and more sought after models run dry.
Lip was inspired by...exactly... and of course comparing to the other 9 Lip is shit, specially nowadays. It just became famous as it was offered to Churchill.. For people not willing to spend over 300-500$ for a little piece of history it is reasonable. Damn, I realized I forgot to mentioned the Tissot Seastar from the 50's
@@popezosimusthethird269 I picked one with an electro-mechanical movement, so even more fun to keep running. I'll enjoy it while it lasts, but if it ends up sitting in a watchbox in the future and not a runner, that's not too bad, I have a Accutron 214 Spaceview to enjoy instead and those are pretty bombproof.
Universal Geneve actually made the Bulova Moon watch (lunar pilot) worn by Dave Scott on the moon , as UG was a subsidiary of Bulova. So add that to their credentials , see the Worn and Wound article by Hung Doan
Maybe this is just me but I've reloaded the page, and turned my VPN on and off. When Christian tells the story about him reading The Prince in 7th grade, at 10:41 the audio and the video get out of sync...
Another great brand, that in theory kind of exists is Eterna. They made the ETA movements for everyone back in the day and had a great line of watches including the Kon Tiki and the Super Kon Tiki.
Tremendous brand, a brand that im very fond of, i remember buying vintage Universal chronos in the late 90s for less than 1k. I have owned so many models of this brand, compax, tri compax space compax, aero compax, flat pushers pump pushers, steel, gold, white shadows, I still got my evil nina from back in the days. One time i got offered a 24 hour split seconds for 9k (lol i still bang my head on that one). One of the brands that really got me into vintage watches. I love UG.
I own a lot of UG's that are beaten down and worn. Most of them were new old stock when I got them and I don't feel the least guilt in the world. Love them, my 2000's Okeanos nobody loves and 1960's Altesse and Shadows are really being used.
You might mention that there is little or no hope of getting any spare parts for a vintage UG. The ownership experience sooner or later will involve sending it to your watchmaker for a two year vacation while he sends up smoke signals for some little piece of unobtanium.
Universal Geneve is a phenomenal watch brand with unbelievable complex watchmaking prowess and breathtaking aesthetics, but in real life they are too small.
Time for an update: Breitling has acquired Universal Genève rights, they even have made a few samples which were shown to the public. Merry Christmas to all! Happy New Year!🎉🎄🎊
I have an Evil Clapton tri-comax (reverse colors than the Eric Clapton). It was my uncle, and I love it!!, I only need where to service it…. Great subject.
I used to own a vintage Polerouer date with the micro-rotor (not the Genta's version) it was a beautiful watch in great condition. Still regret selling them. It would be great to see the brand revival.
my love letter to mikey, dear mr everything right with the watch world. thank you for blessing us again and carrying the person i will not name. but we all know how I feel about said person... please start your own channel, you dont need....him... we all love you, thank you for all you do
I love Universal Geneve.😍 Their watches are simply beautiful. And the early chronographs are just breathtaking. Especially Aero-Compax. That's my grail watch.
I love this channel, I’ve been watching for nearly 8 years. This is constructive advice, please advertise for better companies today was not your best work. I’ll never get those 60 seconds back, just awful really. Again, big fan. And patron of Theo and Harris both watches and Straps. Christian was class in person but today/ this video was not your best moment.
She's been gone for a couple of years now...they never gave us an explanation. At least, not one that I can ever remember. She ain't ever coming back at this point, I wouldn't count on it. I like these two, but Anna was enjoyable As well, a shame!
Hong kong based stelux group from what I've found on the internet seems to be the new owner. They are a distributor for Seiko and Grand Seiko in Hong kong ,Singapore , Macau,Malaysia and Brunei.
Jepp it is sad. To bad nobody was willing to give that brand a fresh start and hpped the retro vintage hype They had so much great dials over the decades. Sad sad.. .

You can tell she had an aura about her, now that you say she was a Model it makes sense now.
What a weird sponsor
Dude thought the same thing. Money is money but I don't see the alignment with brand
I'm sure they didn't want to take this one on either lol
Agreed unacceptable.
got to get the bag somehow
Watch collector and gamers are both geeks 😂
Why is no one talking about the botched audio from 10:50 until the end of the video? Audio and video clearly is not matching. Not even close.

But what did you actually DO with Anna? Is she safe?
Michael is Anna 2.0. Christian upgraded the code and processing speed, set the aesthetics more to his preferences.

True Eterna Matic before quartz crisis was also very nice. I think Ebel was also nice at that time
UG is sitting on a gold mine. I think about this every few months and get upset that they don't do anything with it.
Let's raise a mutual crowd funding and restart this magical brand that's should never have been discontinued
medico stands for Doctor, so i think the cronograph could be used to measure the heartbeat
RAID Shadow Legends and Luxury Watches? Really?
I was disappointed after all that buildup that the brand in question was not Invicta.
When I went to work for my first boss, 45 years ago, he had aFerrari, a Lamborghini and wore a UG Chronograph.
Amazing timeless watches! Great starting point for vintage, great value prop!

I'm surprised a wealthy collector hasn't come in and revived the brand and released the great watches they were releasing before.

Just bought a beautiful copper dial polerouter jet from the early 60’s. Stunning 🤩
Universal Geneve had killer designs and I will never understand why they were allowed to die.
Where is Anna? What’s the story?
I am… in fact… a raid shadow legends
Not sure if it's YT thing but audio and video is off sync for me

man that pic of her with that bundt strap at a 70's (?) formula one race, what a time to be alive
