Richard Mille is the exact definition of Nouveaux Riches in watch world. And that’s a good thing, because it draws a clear line between Old Money (non Genta Pateks) and Nouveaux Riches.
I will go with my own favorite unpopular opinion : Genta inspired (non round bezel, integrated bracelets) watches are ugly and should disappear. They are ugly because : 1) Style from the 40’s and the 50’s was 20th century acme. It only went downhill from there 2) they are symbols of the 1970’s (and 80’s) which will be remembered as the time when the Western World had a stroke and never recovered. Nothing to celebrate about.
I was at a wedding wearing a 39mm royal oak. Someone else at the wedding was wearing a modded steel cased casioak. We were talking about the design for a few minutes throughout the wedding and how cool we both thought the shape of the watch was. I admired his casioak and he never noticed that mine was similar but different. Nor did it matter for me to tell him. I like the design of the RO more than the name itself. I thought it was interesting that casio sort of integrated the RO design and that people wearing it have no idea where the design came from. 😃
RM really just is Hublot for people who need an even more expensive gaudy status symbol. Sure, there's a certain amount of impressive technology built into them, but the most important feature of any RM is it's price tag.
I feel like I’m the only person on earth who wants one only because of the engineering and design 😂. It almost turns me off from them, since if I ever did get one, people would all think the only point was to flex. Hublot is trash because they put 200$ movements in $30k watches. But RM design every single part down to the tiniest screws from scratch for every watch, it’s mind blowing IMO.

Caffeine isn't worth it. I quit for several months and found that I had more and better overall energy. The convenience is addictive (in addition to the actual addictive qualities). Knock-offs are a thing for a reason. The mall watch looks like that because of the luxury watch, not the other way around.
Christian Critcised JLC for pricing their watches out of the market when compared to similar brands in the price point. However, how easy is it to say that an item is over priced when we including myself do not stop to question production capacity or volume of the brands we are comparing or their regions where expenses like skills, over heads do differ. Also, other premiums such as brand heritage, hisory of the design etc Even I have to ask myself if when comparing, if I am being fair or emotional?
I disagree with you regarding Tudor, i have more Rolex watches in my collection than any other brand, but i still went for a Tudor especially their full black ceramic and their full bronze watch. Those kind of watches that Rolex will never make. I see them daring trying different materials with super good quality. Im also considering the full Titanium pelagos 39 as well.
Loved this (paraphrasing) - If you don't act like an intern or don't want to be treated like an intern - don't dress like one. That's simple and brilliant!
Tudor boring? Considering that Tudor is the little brother of Rolex; you're basically saying Rolex is boring as well. JLC doesn't look like a Daniel Wellington; Daniel Wellington looks like a JLC. That is indeed the whole reason for Daniel Wellingtons existence. Just like the difference between cheap watches and JLC is in the materials and craftsmanship; the thing that distinguishes Tudor is quality and finishing. It's a difference between subtlety and flash. Could Tudor be successful if they did different things? Well, they tried that; North flag, Aquanaut, Royal, Prince. By and large those watches had little success. The Blackbay might be boring, but it's charm is that honesty.
Have you seen the Hublot classic fusion Singapore watch club special edition? If you were to ever buy one that should be your one and only option. Everything else it's kinda overpriced...
I would say Tudor needs to be more creative in there designs. They dropped the ball in their 58 launch after the blue. They had another opportunity with the Ranger and dropped the ball again. There’s a few watches they should not have releases and then doubled down on creative designs for a few core watches including bezel and dial colors/patterns. Imho.
In all honesty in terms of design there are some mental gymnastics is the watch community, there are a lot of watches from big watchmakers with really meh designs, with mall watch design language. I get that some people really value the mechanical aspect and the history of traditional watch manufacturers, but take those two points away and the whole thing, especially vis a vis fashion watches starts to look very different.
Regarding using a Loupe-mentioning loops exist so we can get a better view of detailing is true. However, if you watch horology content as much as I do, may be you guys do, you will find that watch production even at a very high level such as JLC, Grand Seiko, Patek etc all have flaws here and there and that is either due to the imperfection of hand finishing which is the wabi sabi of watch making. Also, when there are flaws which are due to mass manufacturing or manufacturing in general like JLC and Grand Seiko which is done on a high level, flaws exist also because watch making is not fully perfect. I think it is up to intelligence to view these items closely in order to differentiate between manufacturing flaws vs QC issues.
The Ressence Type 3 and Type 5 don't have bezels. Very inventive. Also, as far as minimalist watches are concerned, the Credor Eichi ll reigns supreme.

4:22 it does. It’s thin, but you can see it
Tudor boring?
Junghans don't really have bezels
Have you seen the Hublot classic fusion Singapore watch club special edition? If you were to ever buy one that should be your one and only option. Everything else it's kinda overpriced...
Grand seiko seasons are great looking watches without bezels
I would say Tudor needs to be more creative in there designs. They dropped the ball in their 58 launch after the blue. They had another opportunity with the Ranger and dropped the ball again. There’s a few watches they should not have releases and then doubled down on creative designs for a few core watches including bezel and dial colors/patterns. Imho.
My Sinn Audi Design Circle Chronograph has no bezel and it's my daily wearer.
Wait. Does rolex op have bezel!
Grand seiko sbgh273 has no bezel
The round watch with out a bezel could be a grand seiko sbga 413
Watch without a bezel example: Junghans Max Bill?
For no bezel, what about the AP Code 11.59!
Code 11:59 doesn’t have a bezel, that’s why I never liked it
Grand Seiko 62GS case is without bezel...
The Richard Mille comment was spot on😂
Hamilton khaki pilot pioneer has no bezel... great watch. And many casios!
I think Tudor 1926 has some texture on the dial 😊
The 🤡 who made the JLC claim should have all their watches confiscated.
Happy Xmas watch men!
Absolutely terrible take on the JLC ultra thin. That piece is absolutely class.
The Ressence Type 3 and Type 5 don't have bezels. Very inventive. Also, as far as minimalist watches are concerned, the Credor Eichi ll reigns supreme.
