I think that his brothers and their cousin who is the President and CEO of Ford might be happy that someone found a clip of Chris Farley's performance as Shrek before the whole rewrite and casted Mike Myers as Shrek
It's interesting to me that DreamWorks PDI is so adamant about keeping Farley's work obscured and not releasing any of it. You could argue it comes from a place of respecting him after his passing, but like Big Bug Man, this is one of Farley's last roles before he left us, keeping it so close to the chest actually seems a bit DISrespectful
When it comes to death, it’s a bit of an awkward situation where ppl are never 100% on what they should do. However, I think they’re withholding it since most studios have huge NDAs and they do not want company assets leaking. Even if they’re not using the content.
Not really. Aside from the audio, which Dreamworks has no reason to release, there isn't much there. I would hardly call that "adamant." I think it's shitty that they basically scrubbed his movie, but that kind of things happens all the time. Look at David Prowse. Now that's adamantly keeping something obscure.
@@ScooterinAB They didn't scrubbed this movie, they pretty much rewrote a big chunk of the film's plot, recast Shrek, then Mike Myers insists he give Shrek a scottish accent, botta bing botta boom. This happens all the time in Hollywood, plus David Prowse wasn't supposed to provide the voice of Darth Vader, just the suit.
@@ShockwaveFPSStudios Ah, good ol' Star Wars revisionism. He did voice the character. The choice to change that was made later (and rightfully so). But what I'm talking about was him not being properly credited for his performance (because being the physical form of Vader is still a performance, even if you're being voiced over) and was denied appearing in Jedi in favour of Shaw. Lucas kept screwing Prowse over his performance as Vader and kept trying to hide the fact for years. This is exactly what I'm talking about. The film that Farley was in, the one that he made and nearly completed, was tossed away. Dreamworks took direct and deliberate action to make Farley's movie unknown, and that's super shitty. But this is in contrast to them simply not releasing some animation tests and other early production materials that tends not to get released for movies anyways (which is more business as usual, rather than an actual attempt to hide anything).

I remember seeing some early concept art in the bonus features on a dvd I had and wished they showed more of shreks earlier development so I’m actually excited that more content was found. I do think not releasing the Farley version is not only a missed opportunity for collectors but also fans who wish to see his final work
I’m honestly really happy more of this was found. One thing I think would be cool is if someone were to animate (some of) the storyboards with (3d) models (depending on when/if people find the (official) animations.).
After watching a recent episode of Dark side of comedy based off of Chris Farley one day I would love to see like a 10 or 15 minute compilation of like a 3D animation of Shrek but with all the Chris Farley voice lines if there's even that many that can be compiled I think that would be amazing and it would be something that you could archive for his legacy but that's just me
It's amazing how much of the Chris Farley version of Shrek is being uncovered. I wouldn't be surprised at this rate that the entirety of it is found by the end of the year
Chris Farley has probably seen the complete I Feel Good Animation test, it’s crazy because he died in 1997 but he has seen something that people in 2022 want to see badly, it’s like he basically saw a clip from the future that no one else will get to see but then he died, in a way he’s still living ahead of us, assuming he has seen this complete animation test, like even though he’s dead he still has seen what we won’t ever see, and he’ll always have that advantage over us
This is a marvellous timeline of events, collection of clips and explanations given. For lost media searches of the past, it's been difficult to trace the dates and know who found what, so having a video like this is invaluable to oneday look back on - it's archiving the uncovered media itself too!
