Of any guitarist who denies playing air guitar in the mirror, David is the ONE I believe. In the video One Slip (wayyyy underrated song) he sorta takes the ONE and ONLY dance step of his entire career! LOL
I agree and see eye to eye with so much that David says. Especially about the guitar being the most holistic instrument. I started my career playing drums. I studied charts as a 12 year old for a couple of years. Played professionally for over 10 years. I had a calling to move over to the guitar. Playing the drums though gave me a fundamental foundation that I would recommend every musician to start playing drums. It made it much easier when I jumped over to guitar.
0:23 Easier than piano? Whoa, David...Anyway, what I really like about these legends is that they're so laid back and all the cared about really was getting the guitar into their hands and just playing. No bullshit. Just a pure love for playing and making music. I've got a feeling that if you walk up to Gilmour and shred at 200 bpm 16th notes, he won't give much of a shit.

Classy, Ted. I think your behaviour makes you vain. You could have decided NOT to get so riled up by an innocent comment, and shown some maturity while at it. You chose not to. You care about the appearances, and you feel that the current appearance is that you're somehow a badass for acting so tough in the internet. :D
God, Ted....you're really all twisted up by how good-looking David Gilmour is and how much women admire him, aren't you? Relax. It's got nothing to do with you. His handsome face is not affecting your life in any way whatsoever. By the way, you keep using that word "vain" - I don't think it means what you think it means. Kasia (and other women who comment on Gilmour's looks) are not being "vain" in their admiration. Check out a dictionary and try again.
Not really, they were all around each other in the late 60s when all the bands they were in at the time were either headlining events or they’d be on the same event, beck, Clapton and Gilmour were all round each other back in those days.
Piano is MUCH more difficult! The superimposition of modalities is like playing chess on multiple boards. Guitar simply involves moving up and down the scale, as opposed to rearranging the geometry of the scales and playing different modalities in the same spaces.
Who said a damned thing about limitations of the guitar?!? If anything, my words hint at the breadth of potentialities on the guitar, vis a vis other instruments. The difficulty of piano is due to the limitations of piano, and not the other way around. In any case, I'm referring NOT to the potential for virtuosity, but rather to the structural limitations of the music itself. Therefore, there is nothing to do be gained by bringing in references to any particular masters. I prefer the guitar playing of David Gilmour, to all the piano music that has ever been played. But that's not relevant. This didn't have to be any sort of an argument at all, but apparently you were itching to name drop - so, there you are then. Excellent.
Probably the handsomest man in rock history, but not flamboyant like other British rockers. Casual dress on stage and as far as I know he didn't jump around or do sexy moves ;) I actually saw a doc. one time about British progressive rock with a lot of interviews and one guy (Mont Campbell of Egg) said something like "No, we weren't very sexy on stage anyhow I'd have been rather unconvincing. Could you picture me doing pelvic thrusts while playing in 5/8 time? No".
Mr Gilmour, in my experience has always been held in higher regard than Mr Waters: he is thought of as the more "cuddly" one, the less "fiesty" one ...but I'm skeptical.
