- @ParallaxDG here’s part 3 of the top (insert
tuning) Bodom riffs/leads series, 25 best D standard riffs. It was very difficult for me to think which riffs specifically, but I think I narrowed it down pretty well in the end. Some songs like Children of Decadence or Silent Night, Bodom night didn’t make it because I like the leads in them a lot but riff wise, they don’t stand out as much compared to other songs. Good example, Bodom Beach Terror. Mixes amazing leads with amazing riffs, whereas Silent night has good riffs but amazing leads (hopefully you get where I’m coming from).
My other choice that nearly made the list was Triple Corpse Hammerblow, but I swapped it for Done with Everything, Die for nothing to give Blooddrunk a bit more love.
Guitar used: Cort VX2V in D standard (11-56 XLs)
Amp used: Marshall MG15CF
Pick used: Tortex Sharp 1.35mm
Recording used: IPhone 11 edited through iMovie then splice

RIP Alexi 🌹🖤
This is very helpful I was looking for some new bodom to learn in D standard so I can play them a Death without changing tunings lol
All of Hatebreeder, FTR, most of HCDR (except Sixpounder and Angels), Next in line, Roadkill Morning, Your days are numbered and the rest listed on here are all the D standard songs. Oh and Paint the Sky with blood and Where dead angels lie if you include Bodom after midnight.
@@metalftw9652 And Serveral Songs From Something Wild Play On Their Live Setlist Since 1999
@@paulodizon750 Yeah but I didn’t include them since they’re technically not D standard songs
@@metalftw9652 they play in live set
@@paulodizon750 Yeah I know
although Alexi is gone... yet his creations will live even beyond death \m/
Incredible job, thank you for this !
Fantastic work! Not a huge metal head but I love Children of Bodom and they put on really fun live shows back in the day
I think Bodom unironically has my favorite guitar work ever
Very useful! Great playing!
Excellent ! Des classiques du métal 👊🏻
Amazing tone man!
Amazing playing man !
This list is awesome and made me learn “lil bloodred ridin hood” and “your better off dead” cause I didn’t know they are d standard songs (my Floyd is set to d standard) but thank you kindly for this vid 🤘🏻🎃🤘🏻
As a rule of thumb for Bodom, all of Hatebreeder and Follow the Reaper, all on Hate crew except Sixpounder and Angels don’t kill, Roadkill morning, Your days are numbered and of course the rest of the songs on this list are in D standard. Oh and bonus Bodom after midnight - Paint the Sky with Blood
@@metalftw9652 oh yea! Not to brag but I learned all of hatebreeder and follow the reaper (not perfect by any means) i seriously wish I had a Floyd that I we drop c so I can play some of the other cob stuff, blooddrunk is one of them.. still Alexi music has definitely helped me grow as a guitar player and players like you also help sharing your knowledge help players like me to expand.. once again thank you kindly
Well played man!
Nice done!!
You crushed it dude. Very fucking impressed.
Really good 👍
I love videos like this because it highlights some of the nasty stuff in their catalog that’s not exactly hidden, but it’s not in your face, if you’ll excuse the pun. Parts that are hard to really hear and appreciate in the mix. Good shout on Northern Comfort too, that’s the easiest track to overlook on FTR but there’s a ton of good stuff in it.
It’s definitely the forgotten song but still fits with the album. I think compared, the key of the song at times can feel a bit odd (mainly in the riff I showed off. I’m also not a fan of the videos that show ‘best riffs’ and it’s usually the exact same ones all the time, I like to mix up and throw some lesser known riffs (and even different riff choices from the same songs)
BODOM AFTER MIDNIGHT!!!! Love that riff!
I kinda want to cry man , I remember listening to these guys all the time going tonhighschool when I had heavy marijuana induced psychosis. I even got on methadone in highschool and would smoke a joint after I got my fix and would just crank this in my ears.
You sound like me. Try kratom instead of methadone

rock on man !!!
good
Congrats for skill, can I ask you the string gauge you use? I have 10-46 but I'm about to switch to something more aggressive and good for metal tuning like Drop C and below (the tuning from I Worship Chaos and Hexed is really low so I cannot play songs from them at the moment). Thanks
Cheers man. Well, for me I use 11-56 D’addario XLs (or even NYXLs) between D standard to even Drop B (Hexed and IWC tuning) or even C standard.
@@metalftw9652 Can you say that D standard on 56 is like E standard on 46 for example (In terms of tension)? I also play in E standard, mainly for Metallica and Megadeth, how do you feel with 11-56?
@@begoz5223 You could do 11-56 for E standard, but that would need a setup and they’d feel TIGHT. So I’d say don’t use that for E standard. I’ve grown accustomed to it in D standard, so it might be a little tight, but who knows, it might work for you 🤷♂️ it really just depends if you like your strings more slinky or tighter
@@metalftw9652 All right thanks for the tip 👌
@@begoz5223How’re those strings working out for you?
How can you not like metal but like COB 😂
Wdym?
I hate that they use like 4 different tunings.. I wanna play the CoB songs with my guitar that has a floyd rose ofc, but it's a bitch changing tunings.
I know the feeling. Kind of good though that only 2 albums have C# and Drop B, so at least there’s a mostly consistent tuning throughout majority of the albums (and some of their best stuff)
@@metalftw9652 you ever listen to sinergy or make a video like this for them? some of alexis best shit on there
@@Thijscube Oh man, I haven’t heard much Sinergy, but what I have heard I love. The ones I’ve heard are Pulsation and Passage to the fourth world. Will try and do Pulsation, might give Passage to the fourth world a go (may be a little tricky though)
@@metalftw9652 check out the the songs: Violated, The Sin Trade, I Spit On Your Grave, Midnight Madness. Amazing guitar work
Man you hold a pick oddly. Good playing though
Yeah it’s like a 3 finger method. Similar to how James Hetfield holds it. Saw it on a Stevie T video and I’ve stuck with it since. Cheers
